You could get a soft bench trunk with storage underneath for the end of your bed. Then you have a place to store your blankets and linens inside and a place to set your clothes or pillows over night on top. Plus it's nice to have it for packing, sitting and putting your shoes on, etc.

    • @lfuentes4098

Great idea! Maybe a similar linen color to match your headboard.

I have a couch ottoman with storage at the end of my bed! I store blankets in it! It’s tallish and I keep our small dogs bed on top and so he sleeps at the foot of our bed and loves it! And it serves as more storage!! It went to an old couch we no longer have but I don’t mind lol

I do the same with a wicker chest, but it doesn't keep things dust-free. I've had it for years...has always come in handy, and is lightweight to move.

I think a dresser/cabinet piece of furniture can provide shelving/separation that is helpful for organizing and categorizing items. The ottoman/bench option will be one big container and might become messy faster. 🤷🏼‍♀️ but it all depends on the end goal and personal habits.

    • @lfuentes4098
      @lfuentes4098 5 місяців тому +4

@@annaovseichik391 true but I don’t think Carla has tons of linens. So a trunk with separators might work.

Carla, what you need is a time will tell bin. Put everything you’re not sure about or don’t fit into, into that bin for a set time. If you haven’t missed it, needed it or fit into it in that time, promise yourself that you will donate it x

Someone mentioned you getting a bench you can store blankets and linens in, at the end of your bed, I second the suggestion! 👍 I’m putting all my summer clothes away, and if I didn’t wear it this season, out it goes. I’m tired of seeing, every year, the summer clothes I don’t wear! It’s like “who am I trying to be”! 30 years old! Nope that ship has sailed! 😂. Samson is the cutest organizational helper! 🐶🥰

And it doesn't take much inventory to make a mess with. I'm considering reducing my inventory even more. What if you leaned into the sweat shirt/sweatpants/tshirts and get elevated version of those things. Go with the cute and casual look intentionally. And then use an apron when cooking and cleaning.

For oil stains I put some neat dishwashing liquid onto the spot (it's designed to deal with oil and grease), add a tiny bit of water and rub it in a little and then put it in the washing machine and wash as usual, I find it sometimes helps pull out the oil.

So glad you are feeling better. You have curated a beautiful wardrobe that works for you. It is important for our mental health to go through our clothes and get out the clothes that aren't serving us. Those clothes that when we open our closets and drawers mess with our confidence and body image because we don't fit into them. We need to have clothes that we own, not clothes that own us.

Pretreat the sweatshirt stains with a mixture of 2/3 white vinegar and 1/3 dawn. They look like grease/oil stains and that will take care of it.
You are so disciplined with decluttering. I keep the tshirts and turn them into rags and then screwed up sweats and shirts become painting clothes. So then that needs decluttering. Ugh!

Got really sick for week then in hospital for 2 weeks and now home 1. Starting to recover from multiple issues. Need to simplify house so when have a little energy am cleaning out one drawer at a time and getting rid of anything don't 100 percent need. Also clearing spaces and making thing work better, ie lamp closer to bed, no rugs to trip on etc. closet clothes will do in fall, but already simpler and more organized what I've got to. Have fun.

You ended up decluttering a lot of stuff!! Good for you. I think we all have those clothing dilemmas…I often buy things because I like the idea of the item, but not the reality (e.g. the blue crop top!). Now you have more space for items you really like and will wear.
For linens and blankets you could use those soft under the bed storage containers from Ikea if you have enough clearance. Or a small three drawer dresser would work too. I don’t have a linen closet and keep mine in a tall dresser.
Nice job! Glad you’re feeling better. ❤

Well done, you got through it and did great! The ‘leather’ jacket looked great with the tshirt you are wearing in this video. I’m a tshirt fiend too, I tend to write a list of things I need when I’m shopping so I don’t impulse buy things I don’t need. I also have a box of things I’d like to fit into and I limit myself to just that one box so I don’t start other piles of clothes I want to fit in - that makes me declutter it if I want to store anything else

First I want to say you're every bit as beautiful now as ever, Carla, and that's a sparkling, uncommon kind of beauty! I've been watching you a while, so I'm not just blowing smoke. But also...idk if this is relevant to you (and I'm sure you have your own 3D friends to tell you this kind of thing), but when I was in my mid-40s, I started on HRT (specifically progesterone because I was estrogen dominant, which is common at the start of the shift), and I lost 40 pounds in 10 weeks. I think you're younger than that, but I vaguely remember you saying something about things shifting.

Find a lighter weight looking shelves for the closet and let the sun in. Agree with others a storage bench at the end of the bed. If you love the blue and white blouse pair it with camisole. The polka dot top the dots too big. You inspired me for today.

No to buying new items, it will only get cluttered and cost you money.

Get rid of the polka dot thing - when you held it up all I saw was dots and not Carla - it wears you - please donate!
Your Farm Rio? tops are really unique - I love them. The black white and grey beaded earrings might look great with the white lace top.

Miss Carla, you could use that cropped top blue and white blouse over a spaghetti strapped dress. That would be very beautiful. Also, keep in mind that your skin and hair and eye color are warm, so you look really amazing in cooler colors like grays, cool greens, cool blues, burgundy, apricots. This might help you recognize what you like and don’t like on a subconscious level. Also, if you love feminine clothes but they don’t seem to fit your body type then make the outfit feminine in its material and with the jewelry but don’t wear a feminine cut dress like puffy sleeves and lots of layered cuts in the dress. Hope that makes sense and it will help you to recognize what looks very flattering on your skin tone. I have helped so many woman with outfits and I’m an artist so I noticed shapes and colors a lot

Kudos, Carla. That flower top you were going to have altered was a good call to declutter eventually. The process is slow but in my mind I kept saying all the things you have taught us: set a timer, let go of bad purchase decisions, sort, etc. You make it all so real and relatable, thank you for being so honest with us. Greetings from chilly Uruguay.

I can see your wardrobe is black, grey, and white with pops of red and yellow. When you can see the colors you can find shoes, accessories and jewelry to go with. I like to put my items in sets to see if i have what i would need if not the item goes on my shopping list. Like jeans or skirt to go with xyz shirt. You do a great job! I also already saw your paint color, i love i! So relaxing.

The blue and white cropped too short shirt, could be worn with a white tank tucked into whatever bottoms you wear. OR a seamstress could add white fabric (ruffled fabric edged at the bottom with lace) and the right lace. There's a hundred kinds but I know you know that.

Thank you for sharing your process with us!!!
That shirt with The Sleeves: TOTES bring it to a tailor! It looks SO SUMMERY on you❣️ Now that I’m mid-50’s, I’m getting Real about what my style is, and although I’m not Fancy, I’m done with Shlumpadink👍
Two things it’s taken me ages to figure out, as a girl with ample bosom:
    1) shirts with puff sleeves/peasant blouse-style are NOT my friend. 2) shirts with elbow length sleeves are NOT my friend: short sleeves that hit mid arm and are on a tad bit of a “slant”, like modern camp shirts, ARE my friends!
ALSO: the pantsuits you’ve shown us ARE your friends❣️👏😀

Great job! To stains: put on drops of dish washer like Dawns or something before washing as usual. Or just rub on a little washing powder on the stains, then wash. The stains are perhaps from cooking food.

I loved watching this. It was so inspiring. I had gained a lot of weight over the last few years but I refused to buy new clothes because I loved my clothes and how they fit me when I weighed less. I just finished losing the weight and I'm back in my clothes!

Nice to see you. The sleeves are wrong on that printed blouse but so is the neckline. Often times oil stains that just appear on your clothes are laundry detergent. Using less and putting it in the water before the clothes prevents that.

I felt your pain but that was a great result! So hard getting rid of mistake purchases. Why do we do that to ourselves?? I have sworn off all sale shopping unless it's staple items because I tend to buy more unusual items (like your Farm Rio items) and I just don't wear them. That new Quince jumpsuit looks so good on you Carla, you are definitely a jumpsuit gal.

Edit: Oh, I see, you got rid of it! Even better, then you don't have to worry about layering it! 😅

Have you ever used a poshmark resell bag, or a trashy clothing recycle bag… I always keep them in my closet (on the floor in reality) helps contain my clutter feeling.. if something is too worn or stained I immediately put it in the trashy bag to send in to be recycled. Sometimes it’s just about putting those systems in place to set yourself up for success.

Carla I use a recipe that I got online for oil stains use equal parts baking soda and peroxide with 10 drops of dawn dish soap. This has to be stored in a brown bottle 9 get at most Whole Foods or drug stores. If you don’t keep it in that type bottle it looses its ability to fight stains. Shake the solution everytime you need to use it and place it on stains. You can wash then repeat if needed even if you have dried them. Works great!
