I know it's important to show that decluttering can be emotional and difficult, and that mental health issues can often be involved, but it's also nice to see this 'side' of decluttering where the client is decisive and a big difference can be made fairly easily in a few hours.
I like how this lady was ready to declutter. She was not hesitant or ambivalent about getting rid of her unused items! Good for her! I admire people who are true to their vision 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Just a suggestion, when you were filling the plastic bin with papers, photos, gift bags, etc, you stacked things on top of each other. This will leave her having to dig through the piles to find what she wants. If you instead stood everything in there on their ends like in a file cabinet, it would be much easier for her to go through them and find what she wants without digging. Just a thought!
I agree, so much easier to access, but I believe Carla has set the storage boxes as a project for her. They haven't been decluttered yet. Remember she suggested watching Netflix while she goes through them, during her own time because they were only focusing on the clothes today 😊
I don’t know about that. Each set of papers were in envelopes or bags, so each one would be a project. It’s future projects in 2 bins instead of just laying out in messes.

I loved all my wooden hangers, never thought I'd give them up but the velvet is so much more practical and still looks great. Just kept a few wooden ones for heavy jackets.
Unpopular opinion, but I love mismatched hangers. Not just any though. I have black velvet hangers with gold hooks, and the pure metal hangers I have are the same gold as the velvet's hooks. I like the way it looks, as opposed to a block of the same hanger.

🎉Carla love your hair and jumper/ rumper. I enjoy watching you helping people with decluttering. I have never been a clutter bug, I don't like looking for stuff, digging or unpacking, moving stuff. I started the motto after my 1st son was gifted so much stuff. Then he started receiving so many clothes and toys. I said when stuff comes in, stuff must go out. Our 2nd son came 4 yrs later along with more stuff. I didn't want to hurt family & friends feelings . I decided every month when I deep clean to gift other people. I taught my sons if it's not put up it's TRASH😊! It was easier to get any unattended toys, books, paper or clothes left out of assigned locations. We all love clean, tidy homes. It worked

A hack I found for storage or donating hangers is to tie them in like 5 or 10 stacks. Tie in two places each. this way they don't get tangled. You can tie them with anything a string or even trash clothes you can cut and make string off, used plastic bag even. Anything that's easy to unity.That really saved me a lot of headaches

I LOVE my hanging closet organizer, and I think they’re fantastic for the Butterflies and Bees who need visual, open organization. I use mine with dollar store clear shoeboxes and bins to create a drawer effect for activewear. If you’re someone who needs it to be super easy to put things away, it’s a magic combo. But without bins, they’re only good for shoes.
Great video I can relate. I don’t even enjoy clothes shopping. I decluttered my two closets and I am so happy I did 😊and I can relate with Stephanie feeling lighter 😊love this series “decluttering with friends.”❤❤

Inspired now to do an end of winter sweep through my closet tomorrow. Why am I hanging onto to worn out clothes and just in case clothes? Best thing I did about 6 years ago was get rid of 95% of my heels I rarely wore. They were always uncomfortable - I'm an outdoors person when I have free time - not a going out at night/event person. And I definitely don't need anymore with my hybrid work - a couple days at a super small, casual office environment.
It gets so much easier when you’ve had the major clear through I’ve never gone back . I still sometimes find I’ve got too many things but I’m able to quickly pass through my things now . I’m visual like this lady but I have my jeans in bins blue jeans , black ect also fold my sweatshirts ,jumpers 😊
I am so glad I came upon this video. This summer I am moving from FL to MN, and I'm only taking what will fit in my car (which will include a small scale recliner, and Danish mid-century modern accent chair!). I have great storage where I currently am, but I am moving into a 1 bedroom apartment that only has small closets. SOooooo....it's time for me to go through things!! My takeaway to remember is the 'Heck yes!!!' mindset, and to not have a pile for 'maybe' or 'I am not sure' items. It's a little tricky because I'm not sure how much my car with hold, but still.....I am thankful to see this video. It reinforces that I can do this! I have a 6.5# 'Chelsea' here to oversee; however, I can get my sister to come over to be my support human if need be!! Thank you!! 👍 🌹 😊
Great job on the declutter! Love these videos! Maybe get a low, wooden dresser to replace the one in the closet then you could combine the 2 and get rid of the hanger storage. I think it would make it so much calmer.

if you have a way to safely store the clothes you want to donate I'd say go for it now while the motivation is still there at least if you're anything like me and don't know when the next rush of motivation might come 😅
Looks great! It seems like you two had a great time with this declutter, kudos to her for being able to give up as much as she did. My only critique is that the earthquake kit should probably be as close to your front door as possible, but in some spaces it is what it is!

Looking forward to my seasonal closet switch soon, not quite consistently warm enough in Connecticut to put the winter stuff away, but in a few weeks. I expect another clothing purge when that happens. I’ve surprised myself with my low buy months, no new clothes since November, that surprises me and makes me very happy! I used to do a seasonal swap over but I've reduced the wardrobe down now so I don't have to anymore. Depends on your space of course. And I don't get snow where I Iive, so no big coats to worry about. But I'm enjoying one less chore I must say. And with the changeable weather I'm swapping between some seasons a lot more than I used to, so that's much easier.

I wish she had another of those dressers like on the left side of the closet to replace the hanging unit on the right side. It would have made the dresser more pulled together. The three bins on top were super nice looking.
I went through photos while watching TV. Toss some and put the rest in categories. Was able to create albums for my siblings’ children. I’m really trying to complete jobs like that so my child doesn’t have to one day. I finished my closet two weekends ago. The last section was summer pants. Filled up two grocery bags with pants that no longer fit or I didn’t really like.
Remember that no one person needs that amount of clothing!!!!! A weight must have been lifted on Stephanie and needy people will benefit from her donations. All the best in the rest of her apartment now!

Cheap dollar store zip ties work great to bundle them also.

This summer I am moving from FL to MN, and I'm only taking what will fit in my car (which will include a small scale recliner, and Danish mid-century modern accent chair!). I have great storage where I currently am, but I am moving into a 1 bedroom apartment that only has small closets. SOooooo....it's time for me to go through things!! My takeaway to remember is the 'Heck yes!!!' mindset, and to not have a pile for 'maybe' or 'I am not sure' items. It's a little tricky because I'm not sure how much my car with hold, but still.....I am thankful to see this video. It reinforces that I can do this! I have a 6.5# 'Chelsea' here to oversee; however, I can get my sister to come over to be my support human if need be!! Thank you!! 👍 🌹 😊

Great job on the declutter! Love these videos! Maybe get a low, wooden dresser to replace the one in the closet then you could combine the 2 and get rid of the hanger storage. I think it would make it so much calmer.

if you have a way to safely store the clothes you want to donate I'd say go for it now while the motivation is still there

My only critique is that the earthquake kit should probably be as close to your front door as possible, but in some spaces it is what it is!

Looking forward to my seasonal closet switch soon, not quite consistently warm enough in Connecticut to put the winter stuff away, but in a few weeks. I expect another clothing purge when that happens. I’ve surprised myself with my low buy months, no new clothes since November, that surprises me and makes me very happy!

I used to do a seasonal swap over but I've reduced the wardrobe down now so I don't have to anymore. Depends on your space of course. And I don't get snow where I Iive, so no big coats to worry about. But I'm enjoying one less chore I must say. And with the changeable weather I'm swapping between some seasons a lot more than I used to, so that's much easier.

This was great to see - and so inspiring! I hope the Earthquake Kit is never needed - bit so well prepared, even in the midst of the apparent "chaos". It is hard to downsize your living space but not possessions - such a great job :o) Chelsea is the cutest, and obviously adores Stephanie. I wish she had another of those dressers like on the left side of the closet to replace the hanging unit on the right side. It would have made the dresser more pulled together. The three bins on top were super nice looking.

I went through photos while watching TV. Toss some and put the rest in categories. Was able to create albums for my siblings’ children. I’m really trying to complete jobs like that so my child doesn’t have to one day. I finished my closet two weekends ago. The last section was summer pants. Filled up two grocery bags with pants that no longer fit or I didn’t really like.
