Agreed, I've been trying to get into making my own zines for a few years now, and everything has seemed to go right over my head...this video is thorough and to the point, I actually have confidence I can try again now 😭💕
I have a degree on Graphics Design, and I've been an artist for many years now - which means I'm perfectly aware of how to create a zine. However, your video was soooooo satisfying to watch! It makes me really angry when tutorials are created badly, specially if we're talking about a Begginer's Friendly one. Because it can easily make people feel stupid and discouraged. There's way too many videos out there, about all kinds of subject, that fail at so many levels. I think the biggest proof of intelligence is being able to discontruct a subject into something a toddler would understand. Having this said, you are great at organizing information and explaining it :) you have the talent of teaching, and I'm glad I found your work! Thank you for sharing your expertise.
months ago i decided to create a one piece inspired colouring book for my boyfriend, who loved to colour when he was little, but now all coloring book are either mandalas, or expensive as fuck, or without a reference (like he prefers) and in all cases they are not ideal for left handed people, so i wanted to surprise him with one that would fit those criteria. I drew and designed everything, but for the love of god could not figure out this process, and when i looked for help on the internet, all i found was related to written text and not images, so nothing worked, and when i asked a printing place they said it was a job for a typography studio, and they could not help me. THIS IS A HEAVEN SENT.
Was never interested in making my own zine before, no idea why I clicked this video. But after seeing how legit easy this can be, I'm def making one for fun now. Thanks for the video!
This is great using the mock up to track which pages go where. Also a good tip you can use the page assist and keep all the pages in one file. You just have to use layer groups to separate each page
I’ve been watching your videos for like a year, and I made like 3 handmades in the beginning! Now, me and and my friends are doing our first collab zine. I have the luxury of having periodic downtime at work and I’ve been doing pages on my iPad, and now you’re answering all my formatting questions!! Thank you Bre!!
technologically advanced iPad babies in the chat like "what gives, man?! we can do hard things!!" top notch video, such a big help, happy zinetober, all! 🎃
I've been wanting to make a zine for a looong time, and the whole layout process felt overwhelming so i never started! Your video made so much sense, was easy to digest, and gives me hope for making my first zine in the future!! Thank you Bre!!!
I’m no beginner but this was a fantastic and simple workflow that anyone can try. I often struggle just being organized when it comes to making zines- this was so helpful and simple workflow!!! Thank you 🙏🏼
When setting up drawing guide, you can also change the colour of the line that’s displayed by selecting from the colour wheel (that rainbow section that appears at the top of the options!) 🎉🎉🎉 Love this tutorial; been itching to make a zine of my own lately, so this is perfect!! 🖤👻💖
Hi! I really like the way you explained! I was always confused how to print a Zine and the way that you do on Procreate I think it’s the best! Thank you so much for your video! I will try to make one Zine!❤
Friend, I’m a older person now because the way we used to zines was with one sheet paper and you had eight pages only, so whatever radical information you needed to put out you had to make sure that they fit in that eight pages 😂
Thanks Bre! This is so helpful. I am definitely a visual learner and this was the best Zine lesson I've seen yet. I finally feel like I can start to design a Zine, even though I don't have an iPad. Hooray!!!🎉
ahh I definitely want to try this, i've made one zine before for a digital art class but it was using adobe indesign (and i dont wanna pay for that again)
This was an inspiring way to use procreate so much easier to create it digitally from the get-go. Then you could PDF each page put them in order of back to back and print both sided. (If one had acrobat :))
This is so nice! I've been using InDesign's print booklet feature to make zines and it's been (mostly) fine, but after I graduate I won't be able to afford adobe products anymore so this will be superhandy to remember 🥰
I had never considered making something like this! I might have to start making zines for monthly recaps or trips or something. Just memory keeping! Thank you for sharing!
I. Just love the way you teach, pretty smooth and makes it appear you’re in physical proximity with me. I don’t need to. Make any Zine so , but I interested by ur communication magic.
you should make a tutorial for a mini/one page zine too! :) thank you for the great tutorials!! im so glad i found your channel when i was searching about zines!!

@@brattyxbre You totally should! What I do is I just create every page/spread seperately on a larger canvas than the final print, then I arrange everything just before printing in indesign. Then I pick the booklet option and it prints the pages in the correct order (1&16 and 2&15 on the other side, etc). It's handy because if I'm rushing for a deadline, I don't want to waste time and energy on making sure pages will be in order.
Also what I would add to the guide, make sure you change the color profile when creating your canvas. It's p3 I think by default, your printer will make it look dull and sad. CYMK is the one your printer will replicate most accurately.
