There's a lot of great PMJ stuff. With Haley, check out 'Seven Nation Army,' or 'Don't Speak'. She covers "Mad World' with PMJ and the big clown guy, Puddles Pity Party. Another outstanding vocalist working with PMJ is Morgan James who covers Aerosmyth's 'Dream On' and 'Take Me to Church (among others). The two of them together with a third working with PMJ have a fun cover of "All about that bass."
Please reactor whatever you do, don't react to Puddles the ugly ass Pity Party Clown singing "Mad World" because you will literally be disappointed if you do. Meanwhile, these Morgan James fans flood every Haley Reinhart reaction video thread to beg for a Morgan James reaction video because on her own, Morgan can't generate nearly the millions of UA-cam views and reaction videos Haley does. As Morgan is definitely not in Haley's league as a vocalist or as a performer.
@@Glittersword Don't invade, flood, inundate, hijack, and co-opt every freaking Haley Reinhart reaction video thread to beg for reactions to those lesser talented vocalists. Let them garner their own damn UA-cam videos and reaction videos on their own like Haley Reinhart does.
I shed tears the first time I watched this, too. And every time I've watched it since, including tons of reactions by various people. It gives me goosebumps. There truly are no words that do justice to the magic Haley and the band created. It's probably my most watched video of the past several years. And watching people transform from no expectations, to... their recognition of something incredible unfolding in front of their eyes and ears... it's equally entertaining! I'm a fan! Be sure to watch her other collaborations with Postmodern Jukebox!
@@SuperCripple Every single reaction I've seen just blows the mind of the reviewer... EXCEPT... this one guy that calls himself "Old Metal Head". He totally does NOT get it. Like he's too cool for it. Total POSER. He appreciated nothing of the incredible skill that was showcased by this band and this woman. Just clueless.
Having zero connection w/ what I heard on the radio was what eventually led me to Haley. I went a couple years listening to music from my past before I happened on Haley's season on American Idol. Since Haley joined PMJ in 2015, I have 36 videos of Haley singing Creep on my channel (10+ years of Haley live performances since Idol) and I STILL get goosebumps when I watch this video. BTW during their 2015 tour, Scott Bradlee played every show and the fun thing was, he played Creep differently each time as he's that musically gifted. The "Big Clown" you refer to is Puddles Pity Party, who has collaborated a lot w/ PMJ and even covered "Mad World" in a duet w/ Haley for PMJ. Haley recently did a new collaboration w/ PMJ after about 5 years since the last time which I think might match Creep for arrangement and performance, so my suggestion to you for the next PMJ/Haley collab is their No Doubt cover "Don't Speak' Haley has four albums out, 3 w/ original songs, one cover album. My favorite are her 2nd and most recent albums ("Better" & "Lo-Fi Soul" respectfully). My favorite Haley originals are "Don't Know How to Love You" and a quirky song called "Behave', here Haley performs a slightly different arrangement of the song at a special fan show she gave me permission to record: ua-cam.com/video/KPPFZDbamyA/v-deo.html . Enjoyed the reaction, cheers...
@@bertjones3010 I have set order playlists for every show pinned in the comments of each video. If you liked the video for "Behave" you should also check out Haley's Turtles cover of "You Showed Me", a sublime performance (Also, my favorite performance of "Don't Know How To Love You" , w/ Anders, I've ever recorded)
@@HaleysTusk Tusk, I find myself wishing for the audio to be "Better" on these videos. I realize the limitations are due to the capture device, but I'm wondering if there is anyway to 'plump' it up after the fact? I think I'll download one of them, separate out the audio, play around in Audible and if I like what can be done with that app I'll pop it back in the video and post it on my channel as a private video and see what you think.
@@bertjones3010 I did quite a bit of post on these, mostly the issue is the snare drums/cymbals. "Plumping" up audio on Haley also 'plumps' up the cymbals and snare which is less desirable. Often the audio I get from my external mic is too 'thin' so I combine them w/ my iPhone audio to 'thicken' the sound more, give it more breadth, more body. One of these days I can learn how to plug my external mic into the sound board, but the problem there is sound engineers do not like people messing w/ their boards. I've had the engineers plug my mics into their boards before and even then I've had mixed results. Last show I recorded was Morgan in Everett. The engineers were really cool, plugged me in and everything, but didn't adjust the levels on my mic so the audio was blasted and unusable. Even worse, it meant I didn't even have my external mic recording since it was plugged into the board so I had to make do w/ the audio I got from my other cameras.
@@HaleysTusk I empathize. I'm no audio engineer that's for sure. It's not like we're listening to a Grateful Dead bootleg, especially when the story is about the vocalist. And as far as other board engineers, yeah I get how they can give a shit. Still, I might take a walk on the wild side and just play with audio - I wasn't really all that optimistic when I suggested it to begin with but I'll give it a try. Regards,
Hailey is a seasoned professional singer, definitely had vocal training, and her dad is a guitarist. Every vocal coach are all in awe of her technicality of her voice control. Scott Bradlee the pianist, his musical arrangement is top notch.
I was a die-hard Dead head... after Jerry died I found some of the same energy in DMB in the 90s... then my son turned me on to PMJ.... They're pretty much all I listen to! They're shows are freakin phenomenal!
No postproduction on PMJ's videos. Haley was on tour and wasn't feeling good and her voice was tired, when Scott talked her into doing this video. It was recorded in a very small studio in one take. It is one of their most viewed videos.
All of PMJ videos are recorded in one pass, no editing and no auto tune . This particular video was wrapped up on the first take. Some people suggest that there was a second take, but not according to Scott Bradlee. You will also get people suggesting that Haley was sick or standing on her head and spitting nickels. Not true. The fact is that PMJ recorded 3 videos on their off day of a European tour. Haley sang in all 3. Lead in All About That Bass, backup in Style and possibly the best Creep cover to date. My suggestion for your next PMJ reaction is Don't Speak by No Doubt, with Haley Reinhart. Mind blowing.
First... every PMJ video (excep for 1 or 2) is done in one take, no autotune, it's just them.) As for this one, someone will chime in with the link giving details on when this was done, but nutshell version... - This was their third video on an 'off' day during their European tour. - Haley didn't think she'd be up for this one (third in a day), but agreed to give it a shot. - This was the *only* take.
FYI, this video was filmed on a day off during PMJ's European Tour in 2015, along with their "All About The Bass" video at the same time. Haley was tired, and even tho this was filmed in one take, she wasn't happy with her performance and wanted to do it again. But Scott overruled her, and he was right - 110M+ views later!
PMJ has a lot of really great stuff, Scott has a real talent of putting together his arrangements with a really fitting vocalist. I don't care about all this 'who's the best' cr*p, it's about who's the most suited, who complements the song, just like Morgan James is a perfect fit for Dream On. Doesn't hurt that PMJ's styles are almost always very interesting, like a Seven Nation Army Dirge, who came up with that idea... Also, try to spot the drummer 😉
This wasn't a PMJ reaction video. This was a Haley Reinhart reaction video. Hence, stop invading, inundating, flooding, hijacking, and co-opting every Haley Reinhart reaction video thread to lobby for the lesser talented Morgan James. As Morgan can't generate nearly the millions of UA-cam views Haley Reinhart does and nearly the amount of reaction videos Haley does for the simple reason she is not nearly as good as Haley. So stop hijacking every freaking Haley Reinhart reaction video thread to lobby for a lesser talented artist. You don't see Haley Reinhart fans flooding, inundating, invading, hijacking, and co-opting every Morgan James reaction video thread the same way you wingnuts are doing on every Haley Reinhart reaction video thread. Of course, on her own Morgan isn't nearly good enough to generate nearly the millions of UA-cam views or the amount of reaction videos that Haley does.
Oh Scott Bradlee and post modern jukebox is a gift to our generation to let us experience the hay day of speakeasy jazz and swing today. 7 Nation Army and All About the Bass are just brilliant Haley and company covers as well. Morgan James Dream On cover is special.
When Haley is pulling her notes into herself, or internalising them, it’s like she is talking to herself. You know, like the internal voice we all have. When she is singing to you, you just know it. She is, and I don’t use this word often, awesome!
Here is a bit of information for you about that internal voice that you think everyone has. About 50% of the people out there do not have an internal voice. Crazy right??
She's one of those amazing singers who can make you love their covers even more than the original songs! Welcome to Haley (and PMJ)! I also recommend Scarey Pockets (a group that makes Funk versions of many great Pop songs) and Brass Against (a large brass band that does amazing brassy covers of Rage Against The Machine songs). Cheers!
"...some big clown guy." is almost certainly Puddles. He's also incredible. There's a version of "Mad World" with him *and* Haley from a few years ago. It's great, you should check it out!
Please, whatever this reactor does, please don't react to "Mad World" as there is nothing remotely remarkable whatsoever about either one of their vocals. For me, Haley sings with a lot of nuances, timbres changes, freedom of expression. Each time she covers in PMJ, she reinvent the whole song, she truly owns each of her cover.
Scott Bradley is genius behind PMJ. Always picks the most talented musicians. He does a weekly concert from home on Friday evening around 5 on his UA-cam channel. Well worth it, takes request, cool time
One, they filmed the first and only take. Haley killed it in one. Two, if you love this like I do, I encourage you to review PMJ feat. Morgan James "Dream On." Dynamism doesn't start to describe her voice.
Yeah, this is the song that sent me down both the PMJ and Haley Reinhart rabbit holes. Your comments about her compression were interesting as well as you noticing the lack of too many effects on her vocals. The other thing I've noticed having watched a number of Haley's songs, both with PMJ and on her own, is that she actually sings relatively quietly a lot of the time. I mean, she can obviously belt when she wants to but she works with a pretty hot mic most of the time so she can work all those dynamics without blowing out her voice, pushing incredibly hard, or getting super loud. You really notice it when she's singing next to someone like Morgan James who's got a really powerful voice (like on PMJ's "All About That Bass" cover). You hear Haley sing and think, "Wow, she's awesome..." and then Morgan steps up and you go, "Oh, daaamn... the power!" Both are amazing vocalists but their volume levels when singing are wildly different. From a technique standpoint, to me, it's super interesting. That's not a diss against Haley, btw, for you Haley-heads who are getting ready to jump me in the comments. Haley is my favorite of the PMJ guest vocalists... it's just an observation about her technique and how she achieves some of what she achieves. She does it the way she does it for a reason and the result speaks for itself. I'll echo other people here saying that you should also check out PMJ and Haley Reinhart doing "Seven Nation Army" as a New Orleans style dirge (and I'll add their cover of Tove Lo's "Habits" as well bc Haley gives a relatively dark song a light, fun vibe that's kind of awesome). On top of that, though, def check out Morgan James with PMJ as well. "Dream On" is the one that most will recommend (and it is really good) but I'd also recommend their cover of Maroon 5's "Maps." PMJ and Morgan do it as a 1970s soul song and, man, it's pretty great. That's the vibe Morgan fits into best, imo.
Yeah! There is something to be said for singing (what I like to call) conversationally. It’s almost like speaking melodically, as opposed to “singing” every note. What I mean is sometimes singers seem to produce notes like a synth. Like no matter what the song calls for they hit every note with full vocal production. Which is great from a “singing point of view” but I find singers who can pull it right back and make the melody feel calm and effortless always seem to have better compositional dynamics. Like save the belting for the chorus hook! A verse, more often than not, can benefit from a more subtle approach. You can add drama to it by using interesting pentameter, rhythm, or textural stuff. You don’t need to be at 10 the whole time. Because if everything is at 10, then nothing is at 10.
When Radiohead created this song, it was an instant classic. If Radiohead had never made this song and this was the first version of it ever, it would have been as classic and powerful as Radiohead's version. That's the mark of a great cover.
This may be the single best music video I've discovered since I started watching UA-cam. Their rendition of Aerosmith's Dream On with Morgan James is a very close second. I look forward to more reactions to PMJ on your channel.
Haley is my favorite female vocalist of all time and I nearly suggested this exact reaction during your first live yesterday! I didn't want to take advantage of the situation and I had already shamelessly mentioned Dimash lol. If you're considering more PMJ, I think you'd enjoy All About That Bass. Even folks who don't care for the original really like this version featuring Haley, another PMJ featured powerhouse, Morgan James, and Telly Savalas's daughter Ariana. In my backpacking days, especially in the UK, Radiohead was on high rotation. There is something about being at the source of music which makes it borderline magical. Off memory, they are Oxfordshire lads, as I remember walking along the ley lines and the Rollright stones listening to this song in this beautiful old town which I cannot recall the name of. This song and the environment turned it into one of those critically defining moments. She nails the feel of a beautiful song sung by a beast, so tip of the hat, Ms. Reinhart. I loved how our lil’ growler improvised 'Bennie and the Jets' to include Randy, J. Lo, and Steven’s names (during her exit song performance). I would like to recommend someone for you to look at. Ali Farka Touré, a precursor to blues despite being a recent performer. His recordings were handed around to elite musicians until Rycooder decided to do an album with him some years ago and they won an Emmy immediately. The only way to tell Ali was to peddle on a bike to his West Mali village where he has spent most of his life. If you are not familiar with him I'm pretty sure you will be impressed. I loved this girl singing and as always your evaluation was instructive and just great. Thanks.
Seven Nation Army is also a good one Haley covered with PMJ. Haley has an original song she sings called "Free" that is so good, I hope you'll check them out.
Dry eyes, you forgot to blink.. captivating performance, no? It's the Jessica Rabbit 🐰 effect I warned you about. Haley was sick and it was the end of a day performing when she did this in one take. Her jazz skills are seriously astounding. Grew up in her family band. Great analysis, thanks.
Yeah, the moon was in a crescent phase, which caused her migraines. NOT. She couldn't have done 3 videos that day if she was sick. And 2 of them are the most popular PMJ videos by far.
More interesting is the fact that Haley joined PMJ on tour just a few days earlier and only had a chance to get acquainted with Creep maybe twice on their live performances. If you check those performances, you'll realize the transformation of her interpretation of the song in such short time. ua-cam.com/video/eVASTaIoTYw/v-deo.html

The first reaction of a few dozen who not only acknowledged the musicians but commented on each of them. It’s understandable that Haley sole the song but yes, without the band and arrangement it couldn’t be what it is.
Fpr a more complete picture of her vocals, check out "7 Nation Army", "Don't Speak" and "Lovefool". Haley is ridiculously good. All 4 songs watched in close proximity will give you the best look at her talent. :D She truly gives new meaning to 'performing' a song. Nay, she inhabits them.
It's good, but of all the music videos Haley did with PMJ, "Black Hole Sun" has the lowest UA-cam view count, with the exception of "Don't Speak" which was performed and release just a few months ago and in which is still very new at this point.

I shed tears EVERY time I hear this. XD And I've watched at least ten different reactions of it today alone.
Haley Reinhart owns every song she sings.
Haley recently did a new collaboration w/ PMJ after about 5 years since the last time which I think might match Creep for arrangement and performance, so my suggestion to you for the next PMJ/Haley collab is their No Doubt cover "Don't Speak'
Haley has four albums out, 3 w/ original songs, one cover album.
Nice link Tusk. Thanks for posting it. That was great 👍.
Regards,
Hailey is a seasoned professional singer,
definitely had vocal training, and her dad is a guitarist.
Every vocal coach are all in awe of her technicality of her voice control.
Scott Bradlee the pianist, his musical arrangement is top notch.
Scott Bradlee, the pianist, is the founder of PMJ and does most, if not all of the arrangements of the songs they do.
Their cover of Despacito is arranged by Toney DeSare.
I was a die-hard Dead head... after Jerry died I found some of the same energy in DMB in the 90s... then my son turned me on to PMJ.... They're pretty much all I listen to! They're shows are freakin phenomenal!
I can imagine!
Saw her sing this live and she took my breath away!
I love watching the faces of guys who just got won over by Haley... 😊
No postproduction on PMJ's videos. Haley was on tour and wasn't feeling good and her voice was tired, when Scott talked her into doing this video. It was recorded in a very small studio in one take. It is one of their most viewed videos.
She’s awesome!
Actually, according to Haley and Scott, there were two takes of this song done on that particular day. However, PMJ released only her first take.
First... every PMJ video (excep for 1 or 2) is done in one take, no autotune, it's just them.)
As for this one, someone will chime in with the link giving details on when this was done, but nutshell version...
Hey mate! I’m gonna have to check out more from PMJ, but I certainly agree with ‘the right person for the job, rather than who is better’
I've listened to dozens of reactions to this and you're the FIRST one to recognize how hard that acapella key change is to pull off.
Well done, sir.
Oh Scott Bradlee and post modern jukebox is a gift to our generation to let us experience the hay day of speakeasy jazz and swing today.
7 Nation Army and All About the Bass are just brilliant Haley and company covers as well. Morgan James Dream On cover is special.
The human voice is my favorite instrument and Haley has mastered it.
However, some less than intelligent people find it cute because Haley steps out from hiding behind that big ugly oaf of a Clown and freaks people out and in which is cheesy as hell. Nonetheless, other than less than intelligent low-information people, no one else gives a shit about that music video

Dream on is one of my all time favourite songs. Can’t wait to check it out.
@@PrymalChaos Be sure to return your seat to its full upright position and fasten your seatbelt for this one.
Haley has said she likes to play w/ dynamics in a song, and you can definitely hear that in her original songs.
You crying bro. That means you get it 👍🏼
She is magical
This may be the single best music video I've discovered since I started watching UA-cam. Their rendition of Aerosmith's Dream On with Morgan James is a very close second. I look forward to more reactions to PMJ on your channel.
Yes, the brass section gave me chills as much as Haley's vocals - but truly the synchrony of the group made this impossibly wonderful.
Saw it in several other comments, but PMJ with Morgan James covering Aerosmith's Dream On should be your next stop.
You Morgan James fans absolutely invade, flood, inundate, and hijack every Haley Reinhart reaction video thread to lobby for the lesser talented Morgan James because on her own, Morgan can't come close to generating nearly the amount of UA-cam views Haley has all on her own or nearly the number of reaction videos. Laziness? No, she's always sung that way. That lack of enunciation makes me crazy at times, but it SO works on this song. It helps her bend sounds to get the vocal effects she wants.
T’ All About the Bass is a great one from PMJ. With Haley and two other singer. Well worth a reaction. I enjoyed this one very much.

Yeah, this is okay, innit. Good lord, what talent! I love singers like Haley and Angelina Jordan that deliver a real emotional read of a song. Blues, baby! You know, Prymal, I dig your story about being tired of music. I really lost the excitement until recently. Now, with vocalists like Haley Reinhart, Angelina, and Felix Irwan, as well as bands like Lorna Shore, not to mention all the good a cappella groups working today, it's fun to listen again. May I say that I've heard and seen your enthusiasm gradually return recently? Keep that open heart, 'cause it helps me too!
Wow, it seems like your diverse tastes are tailor made for my channel. At first I was concerned about branching out too far from metal, I really didn't want to alienate my original subs, but now I'm excited that I expanded the net a little more there seems to be a whole demographic of people who like a bit of everything like you and I.
Love Haylee, Love PMJ! Let's just say, it turned my Playlist on its head. (Fun fact, Haylee voices the mom in, "f" is for family)
Check out Mad World with her and Puddles the clown!
Not the mom, she plays young Billie.
Yes, please.
I really enjoyed seeing your reaction to this. It's one of my favorites. Keep up the excellent work, and the fun journey!
PMJ is really great. Look for a 7 foot tall clown all in white singing (Puddles Pity Party), also their version of Careless Whisper (which is magically transformed into a happy song about not being able to dance).
Postmodern is great with most of the singers and cover. If you want to react to something very extreme metal but amazingly technical you could try Brain Drill - Beyond Bludgeoned (drum cover by Lord Marco or bass cover by someone i do not the name now but is great and too much to understand) also Necrophagist - Advanced Corpse Tumor. Success!!
You should check out Russian singer Diana Ankudinova’s amazing cover of Chris Issack’s Wicked Game, she was only 15 years old when she sang it live on a Russian talent show, it’s a stunning performance from someone so young 👍
It’s funny how you mentioned being uninspired by the same auto-tuned / voice manipulated sound being shoved in our ears because that’s exactly the inspiration for PMJ, Scott Bradlee was so frustrated with the non-authentic music that gets all the shine when he knew so many truly TALENTED musicians and vocalists that get ignored and that was his inspiration for PMJ ❤️🙌🙌
Your reference to Puddles the clown is worth persueing. He has a phenomenal voice. check it out.
Another PMJ recommendation is Morgan James singing Aerosmith's Dream On. It's stunning.
Gotta check that one. That song is one of the great classic rock songs. It’s transcendent.
Nice 👍 thanks for being willing to do something different 😊
Puddles Pity Party !!!- ANY track esp. Chandalier...
Definitely on the agenda.
If this song doesn't get you in the feels, get a mortician. You are dead.
Puddles Pity Party (clown) singing It's a Mad World with Haley or Royals w/o her, PMJ hits.
Subscribed because of Hayley (and good commentary) 😀 Can't wait to watch you do 7 Nation Army (try not to compare her to Jessica Rabbit in that video...i dare you!) and Don't Speak, which is a powerhouse performance.
I am REALLY curious about how they arranged Don’t Speak. Can’t wait to check it out.
@@PrymalChaos excited for you to find out. I had already seen a couple of her vids with PMJ and was still shocked and mind blown at how she powerhoused that song. And she needs to be hired by Disney, in her softer moments she sounds so much like an old school Disney princess!
@@Guy8417 Can't Help Falling in Love comes to mind. Currently the most popular wedding song. Over 300 million hits on Spotify.
Her original recording for Wrigley's Extra gum is a masterpiece.
@@JeffTokayer beautiful song, i just don't relate to it too much, lol. She is has become one of my top 3 fave vocalists/acts. Number one will always be Eva Cassidy. Then Pentatonix followed by Haley. Although her and PTX are closer to a tie.
@@Guy8417 "Penta"tonix. You need 5 excellent singers to create what Haley does on her own.
She may not be the greatest singer, but sure is the most versatile.
For a bit of fun watch her and Morgan ans PMJ sing All About That Base
17:54 Why did I think that this was a Cool World quote? It's been too long since I've seen either movie.
I think it was Rodger Rabbit.
Similar movie concepts with attractive cartoon women I guess. 🤷
