He wasn’t as good of a live drummer during his QOTSA days… played way too fast to where the other members could barely keep up, plus it would ruin the vibe of the song. He seems to be in the pocket here, though.
The "rushing" is honestly why so many of us LOVE his time with QotSA. Sorry to reply to a 2 year old comment, but fuck it, I love Joey Castillo's drumming. Cause it's fast, but it's not like it's dirty, and it fits their music so well. There initial albums were manic as hell, and Castillo speeding them up live is literally the main reason I'm always watching their live recordings. Sound for the Dead sounds absolutely insane with Joey's drumming. Also, love the name, being a Joey myself and all
Hell yeah dude he is such a beast behind the kit. Lucky wrote all those songs but I think Joey perfected them. Either that or Lucky got got the short end of the stick. Group sex is one of my favorite records but the drums were poorly recorded
@@therealchrislamont knowing grohl, I dont think they are, bet theyre up and running around 24-25, and Im sure he would, career musicians dont have hang ups like fans like you do, that would be the job of a life time for anyone.
Joey is one of the best drummers around today, and no one talks about him.
Good. Fuck the mainstream.
Yes Hes The Awesome Drummer Of Wasted Youth And QOSA

@@VectorSpector385oh shut up. I agree fuck the mainstream. Dude should still get a little recognition for his talent though.

Joey I miss you from the times in QOTSA.. REAL QUALITY MAN
I remember the first time I went to see QOTSA live and I ended up staring at Castillo all the night...What a beast!
Glad to see he’s still killing it. Joeys one of the rock and roll greats
that's just truth..
joey's a beast...
The best to ever do it. Long live the man behind the drum kit 🥁
I saw him with queen of the Stone Age. Huge performance …actually I played in the same show in 2008 ,Heineken jamming festival italy
My dream....this view
Lucky, Kevin, Joey… The Jerks have had some great drummers-
Joey Castillo is totally awesome!
56 years old and still rockin, should come back to QOTSA
Joey C, is all power! Love it!
I’m glad he’s not rushing in this song. He was known as a rusher during his time with QOTSA.
He's definetly rushing this song man. Listen to the way Lucky played it. Totally different and rushed

Could he replace Taylor Hawkins in the Fooeys?
Great shout
Joey using vintage drumsets :)
I mean Dave Grohl is cool but Joey was the best drummer in qotsa
Never
I miss Joey but Qotsa is already finished.

god joey is awesome !
Joey C. is awesome
This dude gave qotsa its balls. now sadly lacking
Angry jazz
🤟🧙♂🤟
Damn! Way to go Joey!
LEGEND.
Máquina!
I didn't realize he looks like this now, I remember how young he was
to me in my head he will always look like he did for the queens 2005 tour; black emo hair and jacked
Life ages you fast
@@jv2781 He's still pretty jacked for his age
I spy some heel/toe action going on.
Wow
beast
Wow, those cymbal stands are older than me
The Bea(s)tmaster!
Sorely missed at Queens. Big energy.
for a guy who hits as hard as joey, why is he using vintage cymbal stands
Killer
Why did he leave QOTSA :((
he didnt leave, josh homme basically pushed him to quit instead of firing him to avoid bad publicity
Why he leave QOTSA ?
He was fired.
They couldn't keep up with him.
He was off his head on coke all the time
Sylvester Stallone
sabotage black sabbath
the job is his to take...
Think he'd be a great one to fill that foo fighters throne.
Foos are done, doubt he would want the job anyway

@@therealchrislamont couldnt care less
@@Killenmachine05 yet here you are
I always thought Joey was a kick ass drummer but I was glad his career went straight down the tubes when he switched to Zildjian
What a strange comment. You think that’s why he left queens?
You have brand loyalty fever.
lol loser comment
Such o good drummer, but such a bad band/music in the backround.
Kicking fuckin ass!
