- Tammy says she feels that her mother-in-law, Joyce, butts into her marriage and that her husband, Troy, always takes his mother’s side instead of sticking up for her.
“Why do I have to choose? Can't I just love my wife and love my parents? I have never had this issue my entire life, except when I met her and I married her," says Troy, claiming that Tammy “always has to feel like she comes first.”

If a man chooses his mom over me, and makes me feel inadequate or less of a person, he can marry his mother. I wouldn’t put up with that kind of BS. I know family is important to both a man and woman, but you should be able to love both sides equally, not make one feel less important than the other.
Back when I was in like year 11 my friend was in a serious relationship with a girl and his mum was a judgemental Christian single mom type woman but she accepted her, and after they split up the mum wanted to make sure the girl was alright although it was the mums fault for the break up and the girl ended up hooking up with the mum out of spite towards my mate, her ex, being a mummy’s boy

I heard what I needed to hear at 2:03 where the mother in law said, “this was your son not my grandson.” I can only imagine how neglected her step grandchildren must feel with those type of comments. When you blend a family they become your son, grandson, nephew............I believe it’s essential to blending a family. My parents have been remarried to my “stepmom and stepdad” almost my entire life and never were we labeled as less than.

This is exactly how my inlaws are; I was raised in a blended home and no one ever knew that because my mom loved all of us deeply, and protected all of us, so this whole dividing of the children my inlaws do is very sad to me

If a man is running back to his mom over every little thing, constantly threatens to leave her unless she agrees with him/his mom, constantly undermines her and takes his mothers side over his wife and mother of his child then he isnt ready to be married and has no business messing with this womans head, life and that of her children prior to him. I thought she should divorce him, take him for all he's got, make him move back in with his parents, and get full custody of the kids if she can. Been in this relationship - Mom needs to mind her own business and refuse to get involved. Husband needs to man up, cut the apron strings, honor his wife. Move out of state or country if necessary. So unhealthy. Living this way is so belittling to the wife.

My mother in law is 86 and had cancer during the beginning of Covid, she is a widow and my husband is her only child. I told him she should come and live with us. She is very sweet and I love her as if she was my own mother BUT this is MY house, she obviously can feel home and give her opinion about the house, our lives and how we raise our son (with moderation)... however WE decide if we follow her advices and how our house works. It has been 6 months and we are doing just fine.

My MIL interfered from day one & my husband said we needed to appease her because she was a breast cancer survivor and she'd probably not live much longer. She was a witch to me & he had no backbone, never defending me, even arguing with our rabbi who said a son must put his wife ahead of his mother once he marries. We divorced after just 18 months. He remarried & his mom repeated her behavior & his 2nd marriage ended in divorce as well. That awful woman lived 35 years beyond the day we were married...

My mother-in-law actually bought my son baby bottles at the age of 18 months, after I had my son go from being breast fed to cup, same as my daughter. He was no longer on a bottle or so I thought. Found out unexpectedly one day and my husband, her son took her side. Yeah I was done.
