She complains that he only works two days a week. EMTs do work 24 hour shifts, so two days would be 48 hrs a week.
And being an EMT is extremely stressful

My son is an EMT he works 24 hour shifts some times 36 hour shifts and I am so very proud of him, my daughter in-law worked as well as an EMT I am proud of them both they are there to save lives in an emergency!

My daughter married a man who was training to be a journeyman and she made more than him in the beginning. Things changed. He ended up taking care of them and she didn't even have to work. Give things time. Pray and pray.

There’s nothing positive about her existence. People might throw a party instead of a funeral when she spews her last hateful sentence. Bust out the drinks and finally take a breath. Suddenly it’s like being on Xanax knowing that she’d never speak abuse to anyone ever again. How embarrassing would it be to have to go out to dinner with someone like this? I would have cut contact and beg for foster care as soon as I could speak if I had to put up with that constant shrieking! How does her husband even stand her? Does he have a hefty life insurance policy on her, and is just hoping she works her blood pressure up by simply existing?

a) the more fanatic she will critizise him, the more her daughter will stick with him; it IS, ultimately, critisism of her choice in men
b) if the daughter really loves this man, mom will lose her "only daughter"
c) don't try to make live choices EVER for your children. They have a right to develope into their OWN individuality and mistakes.
I always get the feeling with this kind of parents, that what they really want, is for their child to be a puppet on a string, so THEY can lead their lives for them. Or they have no life of their own and want one through their children.
Those types of parents are toxic and dangerous. Because they THINK what they're doing is for the benefit of their child- they diluted themselves into that thought, while what they REALLY want, is control. They have narcissistic traits.
My mother feels the same way about my husband. Thinks he's been on a free ride for the past 23 years because he's a teacher and has summers off. He does ALL of the laundry and yard and housekeeping. It's glorious to come home from work to clean clothes and house. My marriage is Nirvana. ❤🎉😊

My daughter (23f) is marrying a man-child (26m) that is jobless and plays video games all day. He also has several friends over EVERY Saturday and Sunday to play Warhammer. He never comes to family events on the weekends and she defends him. I think she's in for a lifetime of loneliness and "what-if's". She's an adult and doesn't want advice. I gave her wings to grow and fly away but it doesn't mean I'm not sad.

hi there, I agree ... just got out of a 7 year rerlationship three months ago from having a "mother n law" like this gross woman, lets just say in the end I lost a house, my relationship and my self esteem because of my ex's mother.... Im slowly getting there and am dealing with lawyers still. My wish is that any woman like this will lose their relationship with their children should they force themselves into their kids and spouses. The daughter is 100% wrong to put up with that. The fact that she is allowing her mother to speak that way to her husband shows that she shares some of her mother's feelings. She's letting her mother be the mouthpiece of her own fear and anger while she gets to be sweet. This woman is projecting her own terror onto him. She stayed home to take care of kids, demanding to be financially supported and was dependent on a man. That is a terrifying place to be, with no independence or freedom. So when she sees the freedom her daughter has, it triggers this shame and fear in her that she doesn't want to feel, or the grief beneath it, so she chooses anger, in order to feel a sense of control. This young couple putting up with this is pitiful. It's almost too fake to be real, like Dr Phil has become the Jerry Springer Show.
