I just want to express how amazing this isn't just a 1:1 cover but a stylized rendition that made it feel natural to hear. Not just the sound of a panicking medieval instruments like some covers tend to be.
1000% this cover is tasteful and melds perfectly with the instruments.

Seriously though, if i am looking for a cover, i want something like this, not just the tavern soundfont that doesn’t fit with the song. This one though, this takes the song in a whole new direction that fits the instruments perfectly.
Well no not 1:1 that would make it the exact same length with full on vocals. Its just a good yet shortened version of the song. Its a banger and he's very talented but its nowhere near 1:1

But at the end of the day, it's choice man. But I know whatever you decide, it would make your players have a great time in your upcoming sessions. I hope they survive the encounter and also I hope they won't derail your story HAHAHA

This guy is so awesome I created a NPC for him in a D&D campaign. The group arrived to a town where his Nothing Else Matter version was played all the time because the bard left the music on after a wild village party and he was lost. They found him in a Dungeon near by after a fossilized dragon wall, in the cursed treasure chamber. A bit classic yes, they wanted that style lol
He should be the kind of NPC you drop into a situation when you need to save the players from a situation you've purposefully made hopeless and impossible for them to escape from. He shows up like a figure in shining garb, a legendary Bard for which there is no equal, who can charm any monster and enchant any humanoid.
I had a travelling bard based on him, he was to be the trainer for the horndog of a bard I had in my game... They never got to meet him though

My DM introduced him to our campaign with this exact song he was mute so it was fun seeing him be played trough facial expressions and writing only it definitely helped lift the parties spirts after a particularly rough encounter

I can just imagine a dnd session where they’re at a tavern for a break, then the dm puts this on for background music. One of the party members recognizes it and slowly turns at the dm while the dm responds with a slight devious grin

This might be the greatest genre-bent version of a song I've ever heard. It's so unbelievably well arranged for the tavern style while maintaining what makes the original great. Amazing job, dude!

I dont know why. But something about listening to this version after hours of listening to the original (total hours listened). This one just spoke to something in my soul? Like i could picture the alternate reality were this was performed in an actual fantasy tavern with various creatures humanoid and other wise. Everyone singing along in a drunken stupor. Dont know why, but i had that feeling. And when a song does that, it's an automatic favorite to me.
This version definitely hits different. I never understood the hype for the original, it’s cool but not really my thing (I’m more of a Gloryhammer kinda guy). But this cover is truly special.

I've always felt that this song's lyrics would fit the bardcore genre perfectly, since it' sounds adventure-y whilst epic at the same time. Something like you'd hear in an epic poem.
There's a slow version on youtube called 'water and the waves' that I sang at a larp event. It wasn't until the chorus that the people listening figured out what was going on, it was very funny!
