A medieval style cover of a song released in 2019 that was written to sound like it was from 1969 and went viral in 2022. I love the internet.
When I heard Mary on a cross I thought 'Hm, it sounds kinda psychedelic like in late 60s'. Nice song!
Wow, how did you type this on a cross :o
ayo, big Ghost fan myself but how come it went viral in 2022???
@@dragonmagozTikTok. People began using the song to go along with clips from the latest season of Stranger Things and it just snowballed from there.
@@MitchQuadrupleTree man, Internet is weird. And sometimes in an endearing yet quirky way.
Ghost has so many songs that would be fantastic for this channel.
Miasma cover with mediaeval saxophone or RIOT.
I second this
Square hammer, circle, miasma, he is, all would make me saucy.
I think He Is would be one of the best songs for a Bardcore song, I hope we see more Ghost songs covered!! 🤟
I mean, Danse Macabre 14th century style...
The bardcore cover I didn’t know I needed and I am SO glad it exists.
every person needs a bard in their lives, glad you and I got Algal the myth.
Algal Is the the epitome of that one friend who is somehow both nerdy and extremely cool at the same time
The music world of Henry Cavil.
Ah. That moment in the story when our fierce hero finds an equally fierce woman and that romantic theme kicks in. Making us, the audience, draw a tear.
I thought the same thing kkkkkkkkkk
Thanks - now all I can picture when I listen to this is Shrek and Princess Fiona beating Robin Hood's arse again.
Im taking this to be my walking to "altar" song in my wedding. ❤ Only few days left to wait.
To me, it sounds more like a story of a peasant who's content living as a commonfolk, just gazing at the beautiful sunrise, taking in the sweet fresh scent of early morning as they herd their livestock. But I agree on that motion nonetheless, it does fit a love story as well.
@@iirishautala8448congratulations! 🎉
I really hope Tobias stumbles across this one day if he hasn't already
Oh my gosh this is incredible. I don't think you can understand how much I NEED a Bardcore Square Hammer.
Please, please, please consider doing more Ghost. Call Me Little Sunshine would be amazing too!
Or maybe Square Hammer.
BOTH!!! Square Hammer would be ridiculous, I can already hear it haha.
I agree, but would like to add Dance Macabre as an option
I’d like to see how Cirice sounds in bardcore
I feel like this song is just inherently suited for bardcore, as soon as i read the title i just *knew* it would sound exactly like this.
this goes immediately on my d&d background music playlist!
As someone who is obsessed with Ghost and loves medieval folk, this has blown my mind. I love it. I love it so much. Thank you - keep it up!!!
How can someone b so good at playing so many different instruments,. Truly talented guy.
It's practice. This guy has spent thousands of hours learning this stuff.
when you know how to play one instrument, it will be easier to learn to play on others, since the musical notation is already known
he already going through many adventures to aquire the skills , truly a good man.
@@eugenialappies3765 i second this sentiment. Im a current band student and ive put several hours into practicing several instruments like the tenor Saxophone, flute, piano, clarinet, etc. Tho he has more practice and defentily greater internal rhythm
Thumbs up if this cover tickles you internally! 😄
Very well done!
Underrated comment!
And there is nothing wrong with that
The clergy approves.... A musical sin of the highest order has been committed.. Plz keep on rocking!
Let’s be honest - all ghost songs will do great in bardcore. Also, this is the best hard I’ve ever heard!
I’m a huge ghost fan. This was unbelievably gorgeous.
Algal is one of the best bards I have ever seen
I need more bardcore Ghost
Not the only one
I’m starting a new dnd campaign today and you will officially be a roaming bard going from Tavern to tavern playing songs to weary travelers and towns folk
I’m thinking a mute bard who is a master of many instruments. Maybe making him have a way to clone himself to play multiple instruments at a time. A one man band whose sole goal is to bring joy through music to everyone he encounters.
I know it might not be the most popular, but if you ever make another Ghost cover, I'm all here for it
This one's just a thing of beauty
Merci pour ce beau voyage musical 🎶
I am so happy to live in a time where bardcore exists. Your cover is fantastic!
In my RP of Baldurs gate 3, my half-drow bard character sings this and Through the Fire and Flames bardcore to Karlach every night
Excellent Medieval Music.
I usually use your music for back music in my room.
I didn’t know I needed this.
Lord: My, what a pleasing tune. Does it come with words?
Disguised Time Traveler: NO...I mean (cough)... nay, m'lord.
This is why music education is so important! This kind of creativity greatly improves quality of life for folks.
One man band. Every time i listen to a song you played it astonishes me. Well played sir...
It is hauntingly beautiful!
"So traveller, have you on the road long? So, it's a woman you seek. What did you say her name was again, Mary?"
If You Have Ghosts, Spillways, and Ghuleh/Zombie Queen would work phenomenally as bardcore
It sounds absolutely beautiful, I love it!
As a huge Ghost fan this is absolutely beautiful cover 😍😍
Omg so beautiful! I love this song, it's a great one to play, and I love how ethereal it sounds like this. Would love to hear more Ghost songs!
Also love how the opening notes fit the 'Dies Irae' motif!
This is by far the best bardcore channel on UA-cam. I'd love to use so many of these in a D&D game with friends.
I wish to play D&D with my friends and not only with the monsters under my bed
@@Quorthon- Hey they can be both that's how I started out
My favorite song, and one of my favorite genres of music. How can this day get any better
This would be absolutely perfect for DnD background music.
So beautiful. The song, the medieval settings and the lyrics of the original song conjures up so many memories. I couldn't help writing a cover of sort of the lyrics. It doesn't fit the melody, but in the setting where all this happened, nothing really added up. For you Mary.
Soul of a warrior and lady of the bloody blade
when all those lights are out and all those dues are paid
- do you really think we've come to the end of the crusade?
Don't think you are the heroes although battered and bruised
When will it dawn on you just how much you got used?
When will you see that it was you who were the fools
to think the biggest baddest boys will stick to their own rules?
And now you're trying to buy back the souls you sold
But you're running in a cage and you're chasing fool's gold
You go down like a bloody Mary
looking for a savior that you'll get someone to marry
bloody Mary, Mary on a cross
you never saved anyone with that behavior
Bloody Mary, never cross the cross
Soldier of a bloody fortune, It's time to end the wars you wage
with stolen power as a self-appointed sage
Thinking you're a godsend and a ruler and a boss
Bloody Mary, Mary, mary on a cross
But all your dancing can never cover up your loss
Bloody Mary, never cross the cross
You go down like a bloody Mary
wholly unholy with the greedy and the scary
bloody Mary, Mary on a cross
that cross was never yours to carry
Bloody Mary, never cross the cross
Deep as the sea are the sorrows that you try to drench
Mary in a mariana's trench
Soldier of a bloody fortune, it's time to end the wars you wage
with stolen power as a self-appointed sage
Merry Mary once more will you laugh
lost in the forest, on the winter moons be-half
Yet all your efforts to get out always will always end in pain
Trying to run away inside a cage is running in vain
Why, kin, why won't you let me explain?
If it really is your goal to save your long-lost soul
lay down your weapons and return all that you stole
Lay down bloody sword and leave the murderous hoard
There's still time and there's a good ship that will take you aboard..
if you swear to free the chosen, the child of silverbraid
Give back all that you have stolen, there's no need to be afraid
Just bow and pledge allegiance to the House of Silverbraid.
And then kin, let me show you the end of the crusade.
Wow. Very nice job.
Damn someone likes writing comments.
I could listen to this masterpiece for 8 hours
So moving. Brings tears to my eyes.
Beautiful
That’s it. Decision made. When I’m older I’m playing this on my wedding.
I'm probably too old to know what kind of band this is. But the maestro is divine as always. Detached from everything and perfect. It's as if he's not playing to us mortals, but to heaven. It is impossible for me to tear my eyes from this sight.
Ghost is an interesting band that evolves with every album, both thematically and stylistically. Call them metal and some metalheads will be insulted, but calling them hard rock isn't exactly fair either.
I've heard them described as the love child between Abba and Black Sabbath.
@@zacharyalvernaz7916 That is, something that, if you meet it in the woods - shoot and run to the car without looking back?
@@EkaterinaSTADNIKOVA nope. You'll be too busy tapping your foot to the beat. Tobias Forge knows a thing or two about catchy songwriting.
@@zacharyalvernaz7916 You are so full of praise that I will certainly be curious on occasion. My favorite band of all time is Uriah Heep at a discount ) Iron Maiden
I keep coming back to this, it's hauntingly beautiful, really grateful for your creativity and genius
And I see nothing wrong with that!
Thank you, I had no idea I wanted this until I heard it! Brilliant!
And right to the D&D tavern playlist
I had the speed on x1.5 from watching a video previously and thought this was such a bop! When I realized this I changed to normal speed and got teary eyed, it sounds so beautiful. Mad how the speed makes such a difference.
When the outcasted young maiden in the next village yonder is said to be of witch-blood and thrice-cursed, but you still wish to ask her for her hand.
I’m going to throw an Algal karaoke party someday.
Thank you, for keeping this world a good place.
I wish i can hear many other bardcore covers of ghost in the future. I'd probably use them a lot for my tabletop rpg sessions, i know i'll use this one =o
To hell with the church chorals, i'm gonna ride a steed and play this magnificent piece on a lute in front of honorable ladies!...
WITH THEIR ANCLES UNCOVERED!
Oh you unruly lad you!
I need this as a ringtone omg
Now I can blast this song without worrying whether or not my family will catch onto the lyrics xD
Thankest thou, Sir Algal.
i hope you dont mind, but i made you a NPC in my DnD game. you play all the local taverns are known world wide. when we are in a tavern, i play Algal the Bards play list, they love it, it makes the mode that much better. love you music, keep it BARDCORE.
Very nice job!
This is beautiful. Great job!
Excellent rendition!
Medieaval style give a beauty to the melody.
i heard this before the original. having heard the original, i love how you very subtly included the solo as well.
Keep up the good work, a lot of your music gets into my regular youtube playlist rotation.
A buddy of mine introduced me to bardcore a year or so ago and I'm still finding shit that pleasantly surprises me.
YOU ARE A LEGEND
Pro Memoria by Ghost would be a dope addition~
Algal you just made my day!
This was one of my favorite MOAC covers so far! I wonder what Cirice would sound like in this style.
repeated this 1000 times damn :D
This really makes me feel like a worker drinking mead after a hard day of work in Skyrim
a ghost cover played in the shire by hobbits would sound like this, in my imagination at least. fuckin bravo mate this is majestic. 👏
If I ran my own d&d campaign this guys music is the soundtrack I’d use
Truly a masterpiece that while a cover of a great song, has become an epic creation of its own.
That was perfect Algal ❤️
so beautiful, nice work
My 9 year old daughter instantly recognised the music & absolutely loved your version.
Have you considered doing a cover version of any of the goth bands such as, Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees The Cure, Sisters of Mercy, Killing Joke, Fields of the Nephilim, or maybe Type O’ Negative?
Between that and your username, it's safe to say you are raising your daughter right 🤘
Bardcore Progressive Doom Metal? Count me in.
As a goth myself, I appreciate your suggestions.
I'd personally love to see a cover of "Moonchild" by Fields of the Nephilim, or "Burn" by The Cure.
Type-O would translate incredibly IMO. I can already hear that deep voice coming through the instruments!
I got real need a 1 hour version of this
Your versions bring me peace and remind me of my past life in Medieval times. Thank you 👏👏👏😍
Sounds so natural! Like it was meant to be that way!
Lovely ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
not me cryin over bardcore this is beautiful
I've been obsessed with this song, you're cover is amazing!
Amazing
Please give "The Last of the Mahicans" a look. I'm not from America but when I listened to your composition of "Nothing Else Matters" it strongly reminded me of the film. It would be a great addition to your arsenal of great covers.
just cover everything from ghost :D
so good man!!
Amazing job. This sounds like something they could play as mood music before the show starts
Please add to spotify!!! I want this at my wedding 🥲🥲
Wow..wow..wow...this version is sooo beautiful, love this
Great as always !
Awesome as always
I keep forgetting to listen to Ghost, so thanks for the introduction!
Great band (And now I have listened, I think this cover is actually better than the original!)
Can't beat the vocals on Year Zero though.
AMAZING
Absolutely amazing
Ahhhh you’ve done it again! What a masterpiece 🥰
Awesome !!! 👏👏👏👏
It is going to take me the rest of the day to recover from this. Oh my GOD
Absolutely beautiful!
Well done as always 👏
😮love this!❤
This is beautiful. Thanks.
Never heard the song before, but I think I prefer this version 🍺
