I grew up with dogs. Never had s cat--until I left military service. A black cat entered my apt and never left. The Vet said she was about 5, spayed, and healthy. I kept her until she was almost 20 then had to put her down. I learned a lot about cats during those 15 years. People who say they do not like cats usually are because they expect a cat to act like a dog. That's like expecting a giraffe to act like an elephant. They are two completely different species. I've never had a cat scratch anyone. I presently own two spayed females. One is a rescued feral cat. They are both 100% indoor cats. They do not care to go outside, and that is just fine with me. I give them lots of love, attention, toys to play with, two litter boxes, dry food, wet food, treats, and a water feeder thingy. My cats are well-behaved and very loving in return. They often make me laugh out loud! I love dogs, cats, and horses, but I am a 70% disabled Veteran in an apt complex, so I am not able to have a dog--I can't walk a dog. However, every single dog in this complex knows me, and when I travel in my electric wheelchair, if one of the dogs sees me while it is being walked, it runs up to me to lick my face and is so happy to see me. I shoulda been a Veterinarian. I love animals!
I really enjoyed reading this. The fact that animals are drawn to you makes me think you must be a very nice person. Babies and animals respond to energy, yours must be very positive
I also really enjoyed reading your post, Thomas. It put a smile on my face. Animals are amazing. I love all of God's creatures, whether they be human or animal. Also, my respects to you for serving. I did Army Reserve service in Australia for 5 years and spent 10 years as a Prison Officer and i can tell you that animals have a way of bringing out the best in people. It's great when a cat sneaks into the prison grounds; the prisoners love have something to show affection to.

He’s eat chips that have fallen, licked up popcorn. Everything we ate he tried to eat. He’s even begged for my clementines and tried getting the peels. He died 3 days ago. He was so up our butts- he’d even hop in the shower with us. I haven’t even got the strength to go vacuum up the litter he scattered, because I know it will be the last time- he even still has one clump in his litter box- we just haven’t had the heart to do so yet

It's strange how I didn't hear about decawing cats at all until I started to watch english videos about cats' health. It seems like in Russia nobody knows about those barbaric methods. And oh boy I'm glad we don't.
It is still done in Canada and I'm so mad about it. Even if citizens and sanctuaries put pressure on the government, they still don't do anything about it :(
same here from slovakia, even tho the law doesn't specifically bans declawing (or I didn't see it) I believe it was banned by EU because thankfully I couldn't find any vet that would offer this procedure. what I did find was a lot of articles that said it is popular in USA
Yes! I knew it, I've just washed my cats water bowl with water because I liked it pristine! It was easy enough running it under tap water and just wiping it dry with paper towel then refilling it with crisp, cold water. She always went to drink afterwards I've done that and knew it somewhat felt right.
2:39 that broke my heart because we didn't know that and my cat started to pee on the floor right in front of us probably to show us that he was sick but we didn't understand and he died from rocks in his pee that blocked his pee hole. Im so mad that i didn't realize, i love him more than anything else in my life and when he died i lost myself for a while. He was my soulmate and maybe if i saw this video 2 years ago i could of helped him.
I am surprised he wasnt screaming in pain. I had two cars that had that problem and the screaming was the reasonI took them to the vet, who wanred to amputate the penus. I refused and changed their diet to meat, from dry foods. Problem solved.
@@lizeggar2421 my cat was fine one morning that same day he started to scream in litter box and that's the day he died we couldn't do anything to save him because we're poor and the only way to save him was a 5 000$ operation.
I'm so sorry about your cat 🫂 What makes me mad is that neither this video, nor the vet tell you that it happens because the cat dehydrates when he's only fed dry food, and his pee crystallizes, which makes peeing extremely painful (female cats rarely have this problem). One vet even mocked me when I told a woman in the waiting room who had brought her cat for a THIRD urine tract operation that it happens because of the dry food. I guess the vet was more interested in milking her for money for each operation, than making her cat healthy. Another vet told me that cats needs to eat dry food because they need carbohydrates, which is absolutely not true. Cats are true carnivores and should NOT be eating any carbs, since it can cause obesity and diabetes in cats. I don't know if that vet was just ignorant of basic facts, or was deliberately trying to get my cat sick, but it makes me so mad that the people who should give you best advice in how to care for your family members are more interested in making a profit, or don't even bother to educate themselves about it.
As a veterinary professional I always cringe when I see these titles and have to watch out of curiosity to see how horrible the advice is, but for the most part, this is spot on. Good job.
If this is, in fact, goldberg, it's not surprising that you would support misinforming the public. As can be seen through the comments, cats are individual creatures with their own individual idiosyncrasies. I have one cat that NEEDS to be held tight at least twice a day. One that considers affection a game and one that will roll around on the floor to make certain no part goes unpetted. No cat that I've ever had has ever conformed to any of the 'tips' offered in this video.
@@heytasker they're just that. Tips. Take them or leave them. Declawing is different from trimming. I just searched for it because I thought it was the same thing. Protect your car's super sensitive whiskers. Feed on a wide plate, placing wet food in the middle so whiskers don't touch sides. With dry food, make sure food is stacked high in bowl. If your cat meows for food even if his bowl has food, he's asking for you to pile the food high
I got a broader water bowl for my cat, kind of elongated... Because I heard about the whiskers, and didn't think he drank enough... Whenever I see him use it, its on the wrong way... Most of the "cats are like this and that" there is a million comments about how their cat are not like that at all... This is some very good advice. Especially the part about the oils. So many people don't know that. And the part about the milk. Good stuff. Better than the usual "5 things you didn't know" videos.
I know of an example where this happened too, and as a human I dislike going into a home with an oil diffuser running. Those things get odor everywhere and make the air feel thick.
Aw🥺😂 My cat Chika likes to cuddle....but she’s also really skittish and doesn’t always come very close. So if I didn’t smother her a little bit she’d never let me love on her. I’ll basically try to hug her, she’ll run from me, then immediately come back for more love. Even if she doesn’t think she’s happy about it😂
My cat actually doesn't like to eat the same food. I have to buy different ones every once in a while, bc if I don't he doesn't eat. And the funny thing is that, if I give him a food that he hasn't eat in a while, he likes it again.
I buy 2 flavours of dry, 2 flavours of wet, and some sachets of bone broth. This allows me to mix and match flavours for a wide variety. I also provide dehydrated minnow treats 😋
Same was true for my cat. I had kept a variety of foods, dry and canned, and would just feed them in rotation. I would give canned food in small portions, but the dry food was always available. He would get stressed if his bowl got empty from time to time. And my cat never ate too much and was thin.
This video is bullshit. Studies show that feral cats make sure to not eat the same food in consecutive meals and it's believed to be an evolutionary trait so they get all the nutrients they need.
I fed my cats on whatever was on special offer! They were used to this and both lived until they were 18. One died of old age but the other one who everyone thought was a very young cat was run over just outside my home. I have a kitten now and plan for him to be a house cat and, if he allows it, take him out on a harness so he gets to be outside. I don't expect him to walk with me like a dog though some cats do. I'll just follow him.

Just pointing this out: NEVER de-claw your cats. This is extremely mean and although it’s annoying your cat to scratch a couch, just get a scratch post.
There's a difference between declawing ( cruelty imo ) and clipping nails that are too long. Clipping can be beneficial to older or indoor cats. Ingrown nails are very painfull. With declawing you actually remove the whole nail ( including the first bone ). The video does not make a difference between these, but the first scene is just clipping.
Shitty advice. Declawing is barbaric, but cats will scratch furniture and couches regardless of if you have a post, posts or not, it is their nature. If you aren't prepared to deal with that do not get a cat.
Yeah it’s actualy a common misconception that cats don’t like attention. Now granted some don’t but most are very Affectionate. But they should still have a safe space to be alone when they want to be.
I was a long term cat owner, my love for them was great. But, out of ignorance, I made some serious mistakes. Like how and what to feed them for good health. And, the importance of their dental health. A person needs to always consider the financial responsibility of being a pet owner before getting a pet. And, be certain you can take good physical care of the pet's daily maintenance. Thanks for the excellent advice you gave.
I'm so happy that in Europe is banning this practice. This very cruel...because how saying in this video the first thing is respect you cat in they nature ...is a cat not a child.
@@charlamiller3900 actually, a much safer and easier version of declawing has been around for a while. Instead of removing the knuckle, the remove the entire nail only and then either stitch the wound shut or burn it shut. The cat is either numbed or is put under for this operation. Again, I wouldn't declaw my cat unless absolutely necessary, but yeah there is a safer alternative.
"Suddent changes in diet" - My cat ate my fucking lasagne the other day. Id be so happy if that IRL Garfield would have something she doesnt want to eat or at least take a bite out of.
My cat loves chicken, ham, cheese, tuna and bacon and once even ate out of a bowl of mum's salmon risotto that was left unattended for 2 minutes. She wants a different food every week or so. We have about 6 different cat foods in the cupboard and switch them around.
One of my cats has turned down bacon, tuna, salmon and chicken, however, he has eaten Skittles, goldfish (crackers) and horse cookies before. Meanwhile his brother gets a small whiff of fish and he will be ALL OVER you. Don't walk around wile eating tuna, salmon? You better hope he's in the basement or outside. He will trip you up just out of begging. (Another thing he does is he loves chewing on crinkly plastic, the kind that crunches just enough for you to wake up in the middle of the night and ask 'wtf is that soun- KITTY NO!') Then you have the cat that came from a barn. He's pretty much a dog. He'll eat anything if it's meat related, and has been sighted eating a moth and some spiders.
I can add one! If you have chickens too don't give your cat a toy with feathers or your chickens become instant targets, even if they have been buddies for a long time lol. My Jynx loves his litterbox more than anything in the world and he always lets me know when he's ready for it to be cleaned because he sits in it and whines at me until I do it, then follows me around and watches.. it's just "our thing" so a second litter box would probably help me in convenience but it's best to clean it often anyway and he loves the process.
As a veterinarian I approve and thank you for this video, especially that you mentioned declawing, this is an outdated and barbaric practice, it is banned in EU.
@@ritzkit1244 Cats nails are connected to the bone. So declawing is cutting off the first fingertip. And to get rid of all nails that's 10 cuts. For humans that's like cutting off all your fingertips and toe tips. (the first phalanx). It's a horrible practice, and should be banned absolutely.
People who have cats de-clawed should be prosecuted, along with any kind of hack vet who's willing to do it. If you can't deal with the fact that cats have claws, don't get one!
It's all good advice. As for not "smothering with affection," it very much depends on the cat. The 4 long-lived cats I've owned at least enjoy lap-sitting and being petted. One little guy was a love sponge and was always in my lap: He was insatiable! _LOL_
You're right, it does very much depend on the individual cat. My current cat loves to be fussed, but doesn't like to be picked up. However, my old cat who passed away, he preferred to be in almost constant contact with me, in winter he loved to be inside my jumper, loved to be carried around, slept inside my bed under the covers at night, and he would never say no to a cuddle.

Been washing food&drink bowls only with water, but for occasional deep clean I'd use small stripe of banana leaf to do the scrubbing and it leaves nice natural scent. Old banana leaf is best for scrubbing harder stuffs and green banana leaf is best for refreshment. Not necessarily must be only banana leaf, any leaf as long as doesn't release odd substances and doesn't easily break (particularly for old leaves). For litter box cleaning I do use dried old leaves that easily breaks though, so it's easier for them to go along into the drain together with whatever i was scrubbing off from litter box. Ends up only need minimal soap use for final litter box rinsing, otherwise just wiped them with disinfectant spray if no soap were used. BTW I use 1 litter box for three indoor kittens a d clean daily, but for the outdoor cats that's caged at night, each of them has their own cage and own litter box, except for cats that are twins, mother with kittens, pair of good buddies or when cats quantity outnumber cages and spaces, sharing would be involved and that means sharing litter box too, but clean daily.
5:52 Meanwhile, my cat: screams and cries whenever I seperate us by closing a door, constantly screams for attention and rubs on my legs (grabbing and biting them if I ignore), always falls asleep on/next to me whenever possible, only wanted to be alone these two times in his life so far.
“Cats are independent and don’t wanna be smothered in attention” I have a cat that loves to sleep on my pillow at night and loves to constantly rub his head on my chin and neck and always is on my lap wanting me to pet him he is the biggest baby and always wants to be in the same room as me
"Cats are independent" Not if you give them too much affection as kittens and they take after their affection starved mother. Then every time you go outside it's "humans are back! Everyone gather!!" You can't sit down on the porch or near any outbuilding without a few cats taking that as an invitation. Working in the garden, you have to wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty since they'll take the opportunity to rest on your back while you work. Painting? Need an extra person to shoo away the cats. Going for a walk? Be prepared to carry someone at least part of the way. Recently, whenever i am about to leave, i get in my car and start it and the cats will have followed me. So i open the car door and call for simba, which brings everyone to the door and i can do a headcount. Then they'll just sit under the truck to watch me leave.

Definitely take the advice about switching your cats food. One of our cats has a sensitive stomach and we were buying very expensive food from the vet. The vet told me what food to switch to and how to do it. I literally put a teeny bit of the new food in with the old and she had diarrhea immediately. I started putting in just a few pieces of new food with old. It took like a week and then she was fine and has been eating it for a few years now. It's good for her and we're saving a little money. 😄
I've read its good to switch cats food every once in awhile for various reasons including making sure they r getting the correct nutrition and the fact nobody likes eating the same thing every day for their entire life. Gotta switch it up.
@@trishwolfe4848 If I switch my cats dry food she will get diarrhea. My cats also get wet food so that's enough variety ffor them. I will not change dry food because it makes one of my cats sick, why would I do that to her?
@@lori6037 if it works for you then great. My advice is more of a generalization that cats do like their food changed but if it makes them sick don't do it of course.
I’ve always given my cats free range with their dry food. This way they don’t over or under eat. They know what they need & are not worried about their food disappearing just because their owners think it’s time to stop eating. Not one of my cats has ever been obese. If you give your cat treats throughout the day however, they may decide they’d rather have the treats & ignore their food, which can cause some owners to give their cats even more treats & blame the food & not themselves. Their cats usually end up being very picky & only wanting treats or unhealthy foods that have no nutritional ingredients. Loving your cat means feeding them nutritional food. Yes, you can give them treats now & then, but only as...well, as treats!
I really think it depends on the cat, their age, and a variety of other factors. My main takeaway from this video is that it's treating all cats as if they have the same preferences, desires and habits and they just don't.
Many cat owners don’t end up playing with their cats enough or giving them the right exercise to help them burn sufficient calories. I think that adds to the problem where free feeding can start to add extra weight over time. I free fed my first two cats, they lived long lives and they were never obese, but they weren’t quite at optimal weight either….
Free range how? Always full access to a full bag or just not choosing their meal time? Because if it is dry food sure fill the bowl and let them eat when they want to. With wet ofc can’t leave it for to long. But just a full bowl.
A mistake I finally realized that I was doing without knowing was not giving my cat a multivitamin. Multivitamins are crucial for them to get all the nutrients they need that their food doesn't have. My favorite all natural multivitamin for cats would be by the brand balanced breed. My girl loves the flavor and they do wonders for your cats overall health. 12/10 recommend giving it a try
As it comes to food, I bought so many different brands every time I went shopping ... my cat never ate the same flavor more than once a month ... seemed to enjoy the wide variety PS, if you do this, watch your cat as they approach the food bowl ... if they do this quivering paw shake before walking away, change the food immediately and give them a new meal
A declawed stray adopted me once and it was funny he used his back legs the most to fight and could still climb trees! I would never declaw though, that's mean. When he would play fight he would use his paw on me and it felt like a stuff animal hitting me lol
I have 2 that like to be with me, I have got to remember to look down when I am in the kitchen usually one of them is in back of me. I feel so bad when I step on them. You'd think they would learn to stay out of my way.
These days my male cat lays right in the middle of the floor when I am doing something in any room. I try to look down as often as possible, before taking a step, so I don't trample on him. It's a constant effort...
@@lpalucci mine are the same I have 3 and I am more a dog person than a cat person, my first one my ex got from my daughter when he was 8 wks old, the ex got kicked out and couldnt take the cat.. the second one I rescued from under a tarp on my porch it was raining buckets and i heard her crying I went to look and 2 big dogs were trying to tear the tarp apart. as soon as i chased them off she jumped out from the tarp scared me half to death and climbed me till she was perched on top of my head. She is my baby. the 3rd one was my roommates cat they moved in she moved out in the middle of the night and left the cat..that was a yr ago I swear the cat is still heartbroken. My dog passed a yr ago and while I would love to get another one since I have always had a dog since I can remember, I dont think the cats would welcome another dog, they tolorate each other but barely.
My one issue with this is that when they talked about declawing, they showed something like clipping cats' claws (with scissors?). That might lead some people to think that clipping their claws is harmful too but sometimes it's necessary. I have to clip my 17 year old cat's nails regularly or the claws that are shedding can get stuck and grow into her paw pads. The golden rule: when in doubt, ask your vet.
I've free fed both the cats I've had in my life and neither one ever had issues with their diet. It's just about playing and activity, in my experience
Same, my two boys actively refuse timed meals when I got them so I give them wet food once a day and leave some dry food around for the rest of the day, so there is always some food around. Most of the time they didn't finish it when I check in on the next morning and they never overfed themselves, because they know there is always food available. Both are active, play and fight and are not overweight. But I know some cats need the timed meals because they can't stop eating if food is around.
Also, depends what has been done to them. A healthy cat that has not been neutered can eat exactly how much they need, I think it's called rationing feeding or something, I forget. But, a "fixed" cat will usually eat till they look like a balloon or puke from my experience, that's why I hate the word "fixed", you're actually totally messing with their body, unfortunately due to their breeding behaviour, it is often not a choice(mostly if they are an outdoor cat), and I do believe female cats can have health issues if they do not copulate all their life and do not get spayed, but that's what I heard, so I can't say for sure, but it does make sense unfortunately.
@@bo-dine7971 I'm not sure that's related to neutering at all. Maybe it's more to do with whether or not they had competition for food? My cat is neutered, but he only eats small amount at a time. He always leaves leftovers in his bowl, even when they're small. He was raised alone since he was a kitten, so he never felt the need to eat all his food at once.
The litter box thing - We have one extra large box that is in a kitty cupboard so its private and the top of the cupboard provides a space for her food to be thats both elevated and not at risk of being accidentally kicked. She ONLY wants to be in the bedroom [shes an old lady] so having multiple spaces and boxes isnt really an option. She also loves new food, she likes trying something new as its like a treat to her - we also only put food down when she asks but otherwise has access to biscuits, water and whatever meat she has left. If its gets a bit dried out we will wipe out the dish but she doesnt gorge. My previous cat however we had to portion her food out cause she would eat till she was sick... so its about the individual cat...
Thank you for talking about essential oils! I don’t use them, but they seem to be in so many products. We just got two kittens in April, and it’s been many years since I was a cat owner.
Re:Cat Training against hopping on the counter: Nooo. This way you'll train your cat to hop on the counter, wait for your cue word (off!) and then hop off the counter and expect a treat. Gotta come up with something unpleasant (! not painful, mind you!) if you don't want them hopping onto the counter in the first place.
Our cat lives in our bathroom. Her food, water and single litter box are in there along with a scratching post and some toys. Whenever I go to the bathroom she does everything she can to get my attention. If I ignore her she either jumps in my lap or the back of the toilet and gets in my face with hugs and kisses. I never give her milk and I only rinse out her water bowl as needed. She is a sweetheart and extremely loving. Many years ago my ex husband and I had 4 cats. One litter box with no issues. Just kept it clean. All 4 from separate litters and homes and ages. But were very close. Right now I have my cat in my room with me. As I am reading and writing this she is laying on my abdomen facing me. Bumping my phone hand with her head to get me to pet her. Purring up a storm. Personal space my butt.
This was one of the best compilations of suggestions I have seen. We have 3 cats and we didn't know many of these when they showed up on our back porch as feral orphans. We have experienced so many of these and this is an excellent video for new cat parents. Thank you for this!! 👍😻😻😻
I have always free fed my cats. I didn't hear anything against the practice until a few years ago. Gotta say obesity has never been a problem for any of the four cat's I've had. The food bowl rarely ever gets close to empty, and it's nice to be able to take off for a few days and know the cat will be fine.
OMFG THANK YOU!!!! My cat lucipher is not eating his food, but i changed his food since the shop run out of suppplies.... This gives me relief because i know it's not me, but it's the food that makes lucy unhappy..
“Cats need personal space” My cat who tails me all day and even lies on the screen area of the treadmill when I run on it, comforted by the fact that I will catch her when she inevitably falls asleep and slides off from there : We don’t do that here.
Well in my case my cat always love the new food and can easily get bored of the habit's food. Like if i give him too often, he can stop eating it. The suddenly change gives him a lot of energy and even i can notice the big excitement from him (he is a really curious cat who prefers new things than keep following the previous ones) - he never got sick after that and is always healthy lmao
Yes, an excellent presentation. My new kitten likes to drink from the tap (her big brother doesn’t). I bought a very reputable cat fountain. She won’t go near it!!!! And I especially loved your last point. Any vet doing this should be struck off. It’s active animal cruelty.
We got my dog a water fountain too and she was scared of it! Just give them some time to get used to it and they'll drink from it just fine. I'd reward my dog for getting close to it and eventually when we weren't watching the water level was going down so we were confused till we caught her drinking from it! She loves it now, she's a bit of a skittish dog to newer things
Very good, basic summary, although everyone who already owns a cat should know at least 90% of these. People really should do their research before taking care of another species. So thanks for providing easy to digest information!
The trouble is that so many people don't do any research before getting a cat. Then they blame the poor cat if things go wrong. I've had cats ever since I was a girl but now I still check on normal things when getting a cat or kitten. What food they have been eating, what litter they are using, toys, scratching post, have they been handled regularly, vaccinations, worming, flea treatment. The person I have just bought a kitten from must have thought she was going through an inquisition but it is all necessary and she was happy to answer.
Declawing: when someone cuts off the cats knuckles, since their claws come out of their knuckles. (not to mention the cat will be in pain after declawing.) it’s a useless surgery in my opinion.
I compliment this video on much of its information, but mostly on the clear voice of the narrator and without background noise or music! I wish it would have mentioned the importance of keeping pet cats indoors to protect them from the myriad of outdoor dangers ---- and to be careful about allowing veterinarian advise without checking details, perhaps with another veterinarian. Some vaccines are not beneficial....and not necessary for indoor cats. Also, cats can become ill simply from being depressed if not given adequate attention, affection and interactive playtime. Cats' dishes should be ceramic or stainless steel.
As a dog trainer, the very first thing I educate dog owners about is: respect the fact that their dog is a DOG! Not a child. I recently rescued a kitten and decided to adopt her. She is my first! And I have been doing a lot of research to understand what she needs to have all her natural instincts fulfilled. Climbing, scratching, hunting and so on. It’s such a beautiful thing to witness a creature doing what it was meant to do. Hopefully I can train her to walk on leash so she can see the world and not live her life in an apartment!
My cat is my shadow follows me everywhere and sleeps on the bed whilst I work. He eats whatever food I give him he isn’t fussy at all, we tried a few out to find the best meat content and he always eats like he’s never been fed but isn’t fat at all. He also doesn’t mind his water next to his food, but we will be getting a fountain soon
"Cat's prefer a food that they've already tried and deemed to be safe." My 3mo cats : eat anything they find on the dinner table (when we forget to clean it up and they sneak in) then proceed to vomit all over the house
Right now I'm not a cat owner yet, BUT in a few months or less I will, and now I'm learning about their behavior, what they like and what they dislike, so when I get the cat I can know what to do!
I would do most of these Put a cat tree More cat bowls More scratching posts More toys And everything If my parents allowed it I literally cant explain to them that our cat needs it....
Regarding litter box placement, Jackson Galaxy (host of My Cat From Hell), suggests the opposite, to put them in places where their humans congregate. Which makes sense, given how often cats try to accompany us to the bathroom- they expect us to return the favor to some extent.
@@KathrineJKozachok PETA was probably payed off to shut up about it like for most things that really matter. Anyways those declawing operations are a lucrative business 😉

My cat loves me so much that I accidentally stepped on his tail cause he likes to sleep in the doorways for some reason and he just came to me and started purring and wanted to be picked up. Such a forgiving kitty I felt so bad.
you should meet my cats. They get bored eatting the same food over and over. We have a variety that they are use to so we can cycle between those. Otherwise, they tell us they are bored of the food by not eatting and/or throwing up.
Yup, cats are individuals and they don't all act the same. My old cat (she lives with my sister now) won't eat the same food twice, so we have an assortment of foods to cycle, from cheap to expensive ones (she does have a vomiting problem, though, but we suspect it's probably overeating on an empty stomach). My three current cats only eat five flavors of the same wet food, and won't eat anything else, except tuna. It is actually advised to keep your cat on varied foods if you can so they don't develop a sensitive stomach. These videos actually have a lot of things wrong.
@@daina3628 my almost 13 yr old cat developed IBD. We now give him a variety of food of what the vet recommeneded for that condition along with pumpkin to calm his stomach and then tried Krill Oil. The krill oil made the difference. He looks so much healthier and has more energy. It’s the same Krill Oil I take for myself. He is a blue eyed cat who started getting freakles in them 5 yrs ago and now half of them are gone. It took about 3 months of taking it everyday to see a big change in his health
My cat gets bored of a brand of cat food, despite me trying to vary the different foods that brand does, and then have to shop around for a new brand she will eat. lol
It’s another fun way for them to get mites and fleas too! Both give infectious diseases! 👍 If you get them their shots go ahead but if you don’t, your cat could get seriously ill.

I'm so sorry about your cat 🫂
What makes me mad is that neither this video, nor the vet tell you that it happens because the cat dehydrates when he's only fed dry food, and his pee crystallizes, which makes peeing extremely painful (female cats rarely have this problem).
Good job.

This is some very good advice. Especially the part about the oils. So many people don't know that. And the part about the milk. Good stuff. Better than the usual "5 things you didn't know" videos.

That's so cute. Would love a cat like that. :)

With declawing you actually remove the whole nail ( including the first bone ). The video does not make a difference between these, but the first scene is just clipping.
yeah i agree, my cat was already front de-clawed when i adopted her. i would have never done it
Then place the scratching post and the cat outdoors, where they belong.
Shitty advice. Declawing is barbaric, but cats will scratch furniture and couches regardless of if you have a post, posts or not, it is their nature. If you aren't prepared to deal with that do not get a cat.
“They don’t like to be smothered with affection” as my cat literally never leaves me a personal bubble 😂
One mistake is feeding too much wet food. Feed good, grain free dry food available 24/7, giving wet food once per day as a treat.

One of ours just wants anything my partner eats xD If its human food and not cucumber its good enough for him!
(Another thing he does is he loves chewing on crinkly plastic, the kind that crunches just enough for you to wake up in the middle of the night and ask 'wtf is that soun- KITTY NO!')
Then you have the cat that came from a barn.
Hopefully someday it will be banned worldwide.

My boy cat likes to roll around in his own litter…. I have additional questions 🙋🏽♀️

Not if you give them too much affection as kittens and they take after their affection starved mother. Then every time you go outside it's "humans are back! Everyone gather!!" Definitely take the advice about switching your cats food. 😄
Hello Lori how are you doing today
I've read its good to switch cats food every once in awhile for various reasons including making sure they r getting the correct nutrition and the fact nobody likes eating the same thing every day for their entire life. Gotta switch it up.
@@trishwolfe4848 If I switch my cats dry food she will get diarrhea. My cats also get wet food so that's enough variety ffor them. I will not change dry food because it makes one of my cats sick, why would I do that to her?
@@lori6037 if it works for you then great. My advice is more of a generalization that cats do like their food changed but if it makes them sick don't do it of course.
@@trishwolfe4848 Exactly Trish. All cats are different.
Loving your
cat means feeding them nutritional food. Yes, you can give them treats now & then, but only as...well, as treats!
My cats turn their noses up at treats unless it is cheese. I get the lacto free stuff so they don't get poorly but don't give any very often.
My cats are incredibly affectionate and needy

As it comes to food, I bought so many different brands every time I went shopping ... my cat never ate the same flavor more than once a month ... seemed to enjoy the wide variety
PS, if you do this, watch your cat as they approach the food bowl ... if they do this quivering paw shake before walking away, change the food immediately and give them a new meal

Hello Lacy how are you doing
My one issue with this is that when they talked about declawing, they showed something like clipping cats' claws (with scissors?). That might lead some people to think that clipping their claws is harmful too but sometimes it's necessary. I have to clip my 17 year old cat's nails regularly or the claws that are shedding can get stuck and grow into her paw pads. The golden rule: when in doubt, ask your vet.
Clipping claws =/= declawing

My cat is very excited when I change his food. I guess he trusts me.
My cat gets bored of a brand of cat food, despite me trying to vary the different foods that brand does, and then have to shop around for a new brand she will eat. lol
6:35 no it's actually letting them go outside whenever they want that is the best way to exercise a cat and keep them happy + healthy😺❤️😺
It’s another fun way for them to get mites and fleas too! Both give infectious diseases! 👍
If you get them their shots go ahead but if you don’t, your cat could get seriously ill.
0:36 "Here, have a bowl of Pizza Soup."
Whoever had my cat before I rescued him declawed his front paws. You can tell instantly that he can’t walk right or carry his weight on those feet. It breaks my heart.
Hello Amelia how are you doing today
