Although you know that nothing can replace the cat that passed, it usually is a big help to your grieving heart to eventually invite a new kitty into your home.
1:05 #10 Boxes. Here is a good tip for a box cats adore: place a box, with its open end on the side, put a towel with the scent of the cat's owner folded on the bottom, and cover it with a T-shirt that also has the owner smell so that the neckline becomes a passage, or a portal for the cat to get in or out, this way the box becomes special, and a bit of a cave, and the owner scent makes it extra inviting. If you ever need to leave your cat for a few days at home unnatended, this kit makes them feel protected and safe until you return, and it costs nothing!

Animals don't have vocabulary, but they can exchange emotions with each other. Animals need to know what the emotions are, whether it's happiness, sadness, approval, irritation, disapproval and most importantly alarm and fear. So, animals are instinctively in tune with emotions. They can read human emotions. On the emotional level, they are adult, and smarter than people give them credit for. I don't know what an adult animal makes of an adult human talking like a baby. Humans seem to like talking baby talk to their pets.
Yeah, you missed that they're not small children. It's a dangerous notion to perpetuate because then we don't afford them the full respect they deserve. They are grown-ass mature adults (unless if it's young and actually a child). They have adult needs, wants, thoughts, and emotions. It's stupid and irresponsible to see them as 'small, helpless children.' Yes, they rely almost entirely on their human companions, but that's because we've chosen that for them. It's our responsibility to understand our companions are adults and will have complex, not always easily understood thoughts, feelings, moods, preferences, etc. Understanding that they are equals and giving them their deserved dignity helps your bond with them. Sure we can dote on them and love and snuggle with them like they're our kids, but we should always afford them the dignity they deserve.
........My wonderful female (Della) loved several songs but her favorite was "Into the Mystic" by Van Morrison. It's a lovely song with a great bass running throughout with water, bells, wind, and foghorns. Her second favorite was The Eagles a cappella version of "Seven Bridges Road".......She could listen to them for hours with a serenity unlike any other time. I can't listen to those songs any more. What an awesome baby she was!......And her favorite food by far; raw oysters!
we had outdoor cats in norway, but they had a barn with hey and horse blankets (made out of thick whool and simular material) where they could sleep, when they got old my father rigged some heat lamps to where they slept and also bought some sheep pelts (with the hair still on them) for them so they could easly keep warm.
@@alisdairmckenzie Do you feel better now that you caught someone making a mistake and posted an offensive comment? I thought grown men were more intelligent, meet the exception.
I bought one of those electric water fountains ⛲️ for my Izzy, specifically to help her drink more water since they love fresh, running water. It works wonders! It's annoying changing every day since it's wasting a lot but she is worth everything in the world 🐈⬛❤️❤️
A few of my young cats really enjoy the video and song Rolling In The Deep by Adele. A couple of them do not appreciate it as much but are nice about sharing my cell phone videos. Black Horse and a Cherry Tree is my tom kittens favorite so far. Not sure why they seem to prefer what they do but I offer choices and just give them what they like. (The Demon Cat that owns my husband and puts up with me loves Dolly Parton's original version of Jolene. She is one fiery little thing with strong opinions who I would not trade or change for anything. While my old tom was in his last few months she took such care of him even giving him food first and the best sunspot on the bed. He left us on Christmas Eve and she still morns him like I do.)
11 things my Siamese cat (Tipper) loves 1 Meowing 2 Attention, complete and undivided... from everyone in the room 3 The sound of his own voice 4 Catnip 5 Making noise 6 Cookie (one of our other cats who HATES him) 7 Yowling 8 The wet food 9 Caterwauling 10 When the hoomins come home 11 Yelling at those hoomins for being gone so long
All true for my Tabby girl. She loves harp and water music But she also loves Willie Nelson . Right down to purring and head rubbing the speakers or phone. Her very favorite thing I can say is "Are You Cute" Which elicits rolling over and waving paws.
I have 3 cat trees in front window. Boxes all over. My daughter cat tries anything new for a bed. My boy is extremely shy of anybody but me. Under my bed anyone at the door. My home is small but entirely tuned to cats. I meow at them mimicking their sounds. Yup, I'm a cat guy.
@@joanmcdermott6798 I wasn't a cat guy till I got Mateo, girlfriends rescued kitten from dumpster wouldn't accept him. He really made me a better person and I miss him terribly, lost to cancer. Love as much as my human children. Still have Cece and new boy Gabriel, rescued.
My cats act like we are actually having a conversation when I talk like they are a human friend rather than my pet. A lot of times I can figure out what they want when I do this.
while watching a Bob Dylan video on TV (UA-cam), I glanced over at my cat who was totally entranced as she lounged in her chair. She loves music and television, but it's usually the nature shows that she likes best.
Absolutely True 👍 With all their Toys, they love cardboard boxes, playing , trying to rip them, over the fridge vis nap time, magnets all over the kitchen floor..curling up on my lap , 😀 sometimes on my shoulder.. ohh Their mischief never stops.. As I'm back their LOUD MEEOWS upset the neighbors.. oh well They are my babies and they'll always show affection when I'm.back.. I run around or hide, that's the most precious moments for me.. They catch n then cling on to me... total blisss.Nothing less for them.. nevermind my self!! 😘😘😾😺🥰🥰
my 2 cats spend a lot of time looking out if the window. they love lots and lots of cuddles. they sleep on my bed, they know when I'm going to bed and as I get in bed they eagerly jump on the bed too. one of my cats is food mad. my house is a home because of my beautiful cats.
Yeah and kitties also love paper bags. It's something for them to hide into playing and because it crinkles. So don't forget paper bags, and if you have like an empty draw on a dresser or an end table leave it open until they like to sleep in there that's always a good spot too
For a little while I had2 cats that I loved with. All my heart I did everything I could to keep them in my life despite not having the money to give. Them the best and I wasn't in a stable circumstance in life but tried to keep them regardless and sadly they both were taken in life but where j am now even though its still not too stable or ideal there are 2 cats here that remind me or resemble them and I now know I can't take care of a cat right now no matter jhow bad. I want one its best for me not to take one in at the moment. I feel like j God has reunited me with them this way so I can still see them and know I can't keep them I was devastated when I lost them in life trust me it broke me but t have the cats here in my life give me much joy
Read some off the responses. Amazing the comfort zone Cats give humans in exchange for love , companionship. There are rules and suggestions. Yet, cats adapt to humans, and develop their own unigue patterns. As an artist, when I paint and create, sending out happy energy, my cats love the smells, and often like next to my paint box ( closed), as an association to happy times. 🎨🖌️😍🇩🇰🇺🇸🌅🙏🌷
Makes me think of my little Dexter, little man was such a cuddle bug and I couldn't separate from him if I wanted to, he'd also want me to pick him up and he would wrap his little front legs around my neck and hug me all the time, I miss my baby boy.
My cat built a cardboard box city and rapped it with an old shower curtain. She decorated it with strings of colorful bom boms I bought for her. Every so often she completely destroys it,
It's prob not that he likes your hubby more - it's likely your cat just likes him in a different way. I had to realize that when it seemed as if my cat loved my hubby more. But, I soon concluded that because she is a female, she shows her love for me in a different way. She always does her business in front of me and not my husband. She always goes to sleep in my bed and not his. She nudges my hand when I pet her more than his. About the only thing she does with him more than me is she lays in his lap for a nap. Your cat prob just loves you ik n a different way and she shows it to you the best way she knows how. Please don't be discouraged in any way cause all cats are really individuals. 😻😻😻
I think my cat is one of the few that actually is kinda scared of boxes idk why. Everytime there is a box around she kinda sniffs it but doesn't seem interested. Once I picked her up and put her in the box and she jumped right out. On the other hand she absolutely adores plastic bags, probably because they make more noise ??? Idk but I still adore her❤️❤️
My cat was exactly the same, we thought he was broken lol. He’s become kinda interested in boxes only recently, after we played hide and seek around the large Christmas tree ones that were sitting in the room for a while. Then we got a smaller parcel and we threw a couple cat treats in the empty box, he jumped right in and has loved this box since:)
My cats like 70's&80's soft rock. Mr Sr cat loves being sung to to I sing to him. You wouldn't believe how many songs contain love , baby plus all the words my cats know. Each of my cats have their own song. Strawberry has Strawberry Fields by the Beatles and Chance has Chances Are. Arrow has me and my arrow. Ginger has any song with girl in it like the Beatles Girl.
To me for a happy cat it’s two things. Preventive maintenance, cats will do what they want so give them the opportunity to stay out of trouble. They don’t respond to yelling or scolding. If they scratch on a couch put up a scratching post there. Etc. prevent bad behavior. Second, cats have a time limit. Learn their personality and don’t force unwanted interactions. When the cat is done let them be done. I have two cats, one I found in a parking lot and the other from a rescue. We don’t deserve such animals, my cats are great. I like these videos cause it provides tips to be better
Thanks, this is very true! I've had lots of kittens and cats for over my 70 years and they do love "baby talk"! And boxes, high places etc. To me, cats are like a bunch of 2 -4 year olds, they're like toddlers and should be treated like that and protected like little ones! Have lost some to the great outdoors, coyotes even one from a couple of dogs! I was told that sometimes if two big dogs are running loose together in a pack they develop a "Wolf like" instinct since they're related to the wolf and can get that killer instinct and kill smaller cats. They're not called "fur babies" for nothing!
I saw something in Thailand that I've never seen an America. My Thai wife bought a small true bambusoideae bamboo plant which is high in protein and good for cats and her cat goes out each morning and eats the leaves off of that thing for at least 20 minutes. It eats that bamboo like it's a salad.
Cats are very affectionate- not in a gushing manner like dogs, but in subtler ways rooted in trust. If you're kind and loving to a cat, you'll soon come to see that your attention is more important to it than food.
We have 4 cats, 3 sleep on the bed when we sleep and one sleeps on HER climbing / scratching pole. Only the youngest has ever shown any interested in heights and we do have plenty of shelves they could climb on.
I got my torty as a rescue, she had got bitten by the owner's dog and need rehousing but fast! She was in constant pain from bladder stones but there was worry she was too weak to survive the surgery. Finally I had it done, for $2000 because no one else would pay for her and she is like a new cat. 14 years old and already trying to jump the fences and run away. Which is what i'd call a mixed blessing but still, the cat's out of pain
@@joanmcdermott6798 Thank you I appreciate that! The kitty is already 14 years and nobody I know would pay that much to have this surgery done for her. The vet I took her to said give her two weeks and then she should probably be put down! I even had her wee grave dug, but when she came outside and started playing in it this was too much and I found another vet, and this one knew their business. As of new my torty has gone from 4.5 lb to 6 lb and is happier than ever, she is like another cat. It was worth all the money, to save a wee furry life.
Any box, regardless of size, is inspected and tried out by our cats. MIne actually sleeps on my bed: in a box that held beverages. There's also one under my bed for when she wants to have privacy. One under my desk where she eats. And a spare for whatever. Two years ago I set one down on the bed as I tore up the plastic that was around it. She was in immediately and fell asleep in a few minutes. How could I deny her that? Regarding music, she isn't keen on my guitar playing (i sorta lean to the punk rock side) but loves if I noodle around to jazz. Especially early jazz.
This video is informative and adorable. This video reminds me of my cat I was forced to rehome due to external factors and reminds me of how much I loved her.

Okay you're finally right. Cats love to look out the window. My cats hate baby talk and often look at me like "Mom, what are you doing?!" Coral and Ben are scared of that toy that shoves the toy out and pulls it back again. Our cats love to lay on Daddy's blankie
I guess there are exceptions to the preference for higher voices. My cat of 14 years would hide when children (understandable) or women visited, but when men were around, after a few minutes the cat would come out and go from one to the other for a brief petting, then settle down and listen for hours.
I bet if I took car rides with my cat more often she'd get to that point too. She's been to 2 vet trips (~15 min drive each way.) On the way back home after the first trip she practically broke the pet cage she was in (it was very old anyway) and I was afraid she'd cut herself trying to get out the way she was .... so I let her out and by the time I got back home she had adjusted and was mostly behaving herself. She's 100% an outdoor cat so that surprised me. The 2nd trip a few months later I decided to risk not bringing a cage at all, and she was on my shoulders quite a bit!

On the emotional level, they are adult, and smarter than people
give them credit for.

I never said that they are small children, I said they are _like_ small children. I have two feline daughters. Is that a problem?
........My wonderful female (Della) loved several songs but her favorite was
"Into the Mystic" by Van Morrison. It's a lovely song with a great bass running
throughout with water, bells, wind, and foghorns. Her second favorite was
The Eagles a cappella version of "Seven Bridges Road".......She could listen to
them for hours with a serenity unlike any other time. I can't listen to those
songs any more. What an awesome baby she was!......And her favorite food
by far; raw oysters!
My cats love to listen to stories, especially the ones I write.

we had outdoor cats in norway, but they had a barn with hey and horse blankets (made out of thick whool and simular material) where they could sleep, when they got old my father rigged some heat lamps to where they slept and also bought some sheep pelts (with the hair still on them) for them so they could easly keep warm.

Cats are such cutie pies 😍
Did you try the Mike Tompkins a cappella version on them?

Yup, I'm convinced, I'm *definitely* coming back next time around as a cat in a good home...!

Our cat likes my hubby more than me.😂
Haha same here!

Hello Lady how’s the weather over there
I LOVE YOUR CAT VIDEOS.
Our cat does not like boxes or bags at all. He does love his perch on the top of the cat tree as well as the soft cat bed.
My cat love playing with me. Good vlog I subscribe.
Bought many expensive toys for my cat but his absolute favourite is a ping pong ball. 🐾🐾
My kitten looks out of the window from early morning when birds chirp and try to catch them 😸
To me for a happy cat it’s two things.
With regards to "cat music", My cat B loves anything with violins. A good Bernard Herrmann score like "Psycho" is really a calming thing for him.
Your cat has wonderful taste in music. I love violins too.
Great information thank you. 👍👍👍
Has anyone had a cat who didn't think getting up at 3AM and going absolutely crazy wasn't the best thing ever?

The heat one is SO CONTUSIJG TO ME because we found a cat INSIDE OF MY PARENTS CAR AFTER SHE DROVE AROUND TOWN and she wasn’t dead. We kept her btw
Bless your heart for saving her. You are my kind of hero💝
So happy you helped her! 💜💜💜
God bless you! That $2000 was very well spent.
Glad to know my cat loves me and it’s not just an assumption
I APPRECIATE YOU SHARING THIS VALUABLE INFORMATION 🙏🏼 MY KITTEN LOVES IT WHEN I EXCITINGLY REWARD HER WITH KITTEN TREATS WHEN SHE EATS ALL HER. FOOD 😋

I guess there are exceptions to the preference for higher voices. My cat of 14 years would hide when children (understandable) or women visited, but when men were around, after a few minutes the cat would come out and go from one to the other for a brief petting, then settle down and listen for hours.
My cat likes car rides. He'll sit on my shoulder while I drive and stare out the window
Oh my goodness that is so unusual. Your cat thinks he’s a dog!
You’re so lucky! Mine cries and gets upset when we take short trip to vets in car.
