Even Jimi Hendrix considered Terry Kath an inspiration. That’s high praise considering Hendrix is largely considered the greatest guitarist of all time.
Chicago was fantastic. Love their music. I was 13 in 1970, do I caught somuch if the greatmusic and times. Better place to live then than now. Thanks. Chicago for the memories
Think about it. No lip synching. No auto-tune. People not charged hundreds to thousands of dollars for tickets to listen to a crap bunch of 21st century gibberish noise acts on stage. Raw imperfect bad day for Peter is even still better than most big act singers in the 21st century on their best day.
Terry Kath really was nothing short of an amazing musician and soulful singer! I bet he would've still made records to this day, (had he lived). Chicago was fantastic with the original lineup....
Kath would've been the first original member to leave Chicago. He was extremely unhappy with the bands direction long. before he died . If you see the TERRY KATH EXPERIENCE on UA-cam hosted by Kaths daughter Michelle. It explains what TERRY really had planned if he lived. Remaining in Chicago was NOT part of his plans.
@@waltersimmons946If I were Terry, I'd have left. He had so much talent and it wasn't really being used in the group after 1973. Peter Cetera became the lead vocalist in the band. But with Terry and Peter, Chicago definitely was a stronger band. It was great to have those two contrasting vocals in one band.
@lamarravery4094 Agreed Lamarr. Cetera, during the interview with Ernie Menous, said Terry , Robert( Lamm ) and Cetera himself in that order wanted to leave Chicago (over various times). Cetera said, Terry went out another way (the accidental shooting), and he said Robert ran him out emotionally 🙄. Terry was unhappy with Chicago's direction, and to be fair, Cetera's songs were 🎵 better and releasable than the other guys songs 🎵 toward the end of the Kath era. I think the drugs really decimated the bands creative ability almost to a point of no return. They're lucky David Foster came in whether they admit or not and partnered with Cetera. That saved the bands careers.
Jenny that's why he became the voice from the 70's up till the 80's. His replacements tried to emulate his voice. But no one could ever have such an unique voice like Peter Cetera. 🎤🎶🎼🎙🎵🎶🎸🎹🎷
Peter Cetera has the best voice ever. He could rock like a monster and croon like silk. Best all around singer/bass player to ever grace the stage with his one of a kind voice. I have loved him since 1970.Have told my kids they better have Peter Cetera music playing at my funeral.
Rolling stones, the "experts in rock music", lol, released a list of the all time 200 best rock vocalists ever and guess what? Peter Cetera wasn't even on the list. That shows that Rolling stones aren't the experts and don't know what they're talking about. For Peter to be purposely omitted like that is a crime. He's number one on my list.
Yes, miss Terry Kath & his soulful voice. Hard to believe that deep gritty voice coming out of that young man. Oh, what could have been. Rest is peace, Terry.
do you think anyone will ever be this nostalgic for 2010? i can't see it. someone saying- if only i could go back in time and see lady gaga. really, you'll never see this kind of musical genius ever again.
peter cetera was awesome on the bass. i play and it isnt easy to play such complex bass lines and sing lead like he does. he is awesome! saw him in concert a couple years ago. his voice is still crispy!
You would be correct they deserve more than they get, that was one tight band and the horns were part of that great band. To bad peter and band mates had personal problems . Sad ending .
This was one of the first Chicago songs I ever heard. They were a group I had to warm up to. Their follow up “Wishing You Were Here” was the first one that I really liked because of Terry’s voice and the Beachboy’s backing. It was my first wife who started getting me into them and I became a fan of their rockier and funkier tunes. While everyone was getting into their power ballads, I bought II, VI, and VIII. Ironically I’ve never owned VII but I plan on correcting that ASAP. I really hadn’t listened to them much in recent years until watching a trio of documentaries. I wanted to learn more about them and in the process they’ve now become one of my favorite bands.
Now you know darn well that's not happening 🙄 any time soon. Especially if Peter Cetera's retired, Walter can't tour with the other members of Chicago, Terry's spirit somewhere in the universe.
I last saw Chicago with Terry Kath in October 1977 at the Houston Summit. I took pictures and have the negatives (yes film) somewhere in my archives. I even wrote a concert review for the Rice Thresher, the newspaper at Rice University. Several of my Rice classmates attended including a short term girl friend. I treasure that memory of seeing Terry. That set was pretty cool.
NO ONE can play this song with this "one moment" sound . Even now when Chicago plays it the JUST RIGHT sound is not there. Once in a lifetime sound. Sound is where it's at. Execution. Chicago CAN do it. Chicago Forever !!!!!!!!!!!!!
This Band in their original era 1967 to 1978 was so good, different and unique they scared their critics with hatred and ignorance of them. Still does today. The critic haters of Chicago are missing a giant part of great energetic tapped into music history what music should be done exactly like. If the critic haters of Chicago just don't get it they will never get it or begin to understand it all. The soul vocals and rhythm of Terry. The percussion of Danny and Laudir. The bass and vocals of Peter. The band section. This band wasn't a fluke or accident in time. It is what music should always be creative about in the way I also enjoy the Moody Blues and Other great 20th Century Bands from the US and around the World.
Had an opportunity to see original lineup when they used to come to the amphitheater I think I also saw them at the Chicago stadium. The Chicago transit authority album was a Musical statement that remains relevant.

I had a blast - thanks for posting. This reminds me of the yester-year in Saigon before I fled the country to immigrate to the states. They've been playing since the '60s. Getting ready to see them in October in Florida. They're billed now as the only American group to have Top 40 albums spanning 5 decades! Guess I'm old since I've been listening to them the whole time. Chicago was my first rock album as a kid.
Simply superb! Chicago put out a ton of really great music. It's no wonder they sold so many recording albums and had/has such a huge following, and their longevity continues! At 78, I will also continue on listening to them. My favorite band!

This goes out to my sister, Margaret Postel, who passed way 4/19/2018. This song reminds me so much of you. I remember you singing it and smiling. I love you and miss you so very much. 😢❤
Had the chance to see the original line up, with Laudir, in Austin,Tx. . .in fact, it was the same stage set up. I recognized the neon lighting on the risers. Tremendous show. . .they flat nailed every note, every song. . .
Story goes, Loughnane wrote a rough draft of this song, a very rough draft where it didn't sound like it does now. He was showing his song to the band members, everyone told him forget about it. But Peter felt bad for him, so he worked with Lee to create one of their best songs ever. And Lee got the solo writing credit but Cetera should've gotten a cowriter credit for it.
I'm an oldhead...listen to their debut album "chicago transit authority"...then in sequence chicago 2..3 .and 5....ESPECIALLY 5....their first single album...soak it in and please get back to me

Simply superb! Chicago put out a ton of really great music. It's no wonder they sold so many recording albums and had/has such a huge following, and their longevity continues! At 78, I will also continue on listening to them. My favorite band!
Hermosa canción de Chicago está canción se la dedico al chico de mis sueños Gerardo
Thank you for Chicago’s wonderful peformance ! ! Wonderful song👍

this is the bomb youtube channel. man, chicago is one of my favorite bands and this is one of my favorite songs. just heard this song on the radio and i knew that i would find it youtube.
This goes out to my sister, Margaret Postel, who passed way 4/19/2018. This song reminds me so much of you. I remember you singing it and smiling. I love you and miss you so very much. 😢❤
Irene Garcia im so sorry for your loss may you keep being strong
I'm sorry for your loss. May you find peace and solace when you think of her while listening to her voice in your dreams as she sings this song.
Another live performance that makes me wonder why they fired Danny Seraphin. He is fantastic.
It's so good to see the Great Terry Kath and Cetera....!!!
Great song! Wow!!!
Super group in their heyday. All 7 could play. So sad when Terry passed......But Chicago died the night Cetera left
The soul of Chicago died with the Passing of Terry Kath. Too much elevator music afterwards.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that Peter Cetera made the group
They had good music after that but yeah the soul did die a little.
I would have to disagree... They died with Kath! The true heart and soul(and leader ) of the band! Everyone falls for that falsetto though
Nah-he wasn’t the strength. He left and became a non-entity to me.
Doesn’t get any better ❤ sweet memories, great times 7Os best music … I’m older now but young in every way.
They are still amazing live even after all these years. Saw them last year at Windsor Casino.
Darren - lucky you!
Chicago definately has their "own sound"... They were VERY CREATIVE back in the 70's. This was a great lineup.
Agreed!!!!
Never forget everywhere, where I was at all these songs
Saw them 2x in Seattle, Washington before Terry passed away 😢
Had the chance to see the original line up, with Laudir, in Austin,Tx. . .in fact, it was the same stage set up. I recognized the neon lighting on the risers. Tremendous show. . .they flat nailed every note, every song. . .
That was in 1977 (maybe October - since they played the Houston Summit in October)
Lee Loughnane hit it out of the park on this one, superb song. Plus Together Again, is very lovely !
Simplemente no podre dejarla de escuchar toda mi vida... ya llevo más de 30 años hay la llevo.
Jesus Ramiro Del Bosque Geniaal!!
Orale!!! Yo desde 1970!
I saw them at Manchester on this tour Awesome!
That moment when you just don't want the song to end! 🍻😊👍🏾
Agreed!!!!!
I'm an oldhead...listen to their debut album "chicago transit authority"...then in sequence chicago 2..3 .and 5....ESPECIALLY 5....their first single album...soak it in and please get back to me
Many thanks for this and all the other Chicago treasures you have posted. Geez, I could have heard them during the era of this performance, but wasn't listening to Chicago then...well, better late than never! Much appreciation.
Their music is timeless!
disco4ever loves this song!! Thanks for the post, 1977 was a great year :)
Amazing
