    I'm 76 yrs. old and just came across your channel. Back in the 50's when we got our drivers license, our 1st. car was usually a hand me down from our parents. My buddy Lance wound up with a 4 door 57 Nash rambler. I could tell you a lot of stories about those fold down seats, especially at the drive-ins in Calif. but this may be a family channel. I'm real happy I came across your great videos. You'll be hearing a lot from me in the future! Thanks Man!

      I also used to say I've never met a car I didn't like....and then I started to really look hard at cars. Examples of cars I could take or leave? A 4 cylinder powered Tempo/Topaz, though if it was the rarer 2 door and/or had a manual transmission, then I might be interested. The 70s Chevy Monza Town Coupe is another, at least with the 4 cylinder engine and especially if it had the 4 cylinder engine and automatic transmission.
      I was surprised that this guy had never been "up close and personal" with any NSU. When I lived in Memphis there was a former dealer turned repair shop for German cars about a mile from my house. Around the outside of the main building were several old VW beetles and NSU sedans.

    Can you imagine someone trying to do with a modern car in 60 years, what was done with that Nash ? Fuel ? Check, Sparks ? Check , Compression ? Check, 25 ECU black boxes all working ? Nope.

    • @Freedomquest08
      @Freedomquest08 5 років тому +24

      In 50yrs time the tech to hack into ecus will be so advanced and the education on the software on cars will be extensive enough so that it'll be as easy as this Nash to start and fix, we simpletons won't be as dumb in the future......plus there will be better ecus so we can hotrod modern cars

      It will never happen again, I tell these kids, no more classics. They are built to be recycled now, which is good and we need that now but if you have classics, don't sell them.

    • @roeng1368
      @roeng1368 5 років тому +13

      The reason i like classic stuff is, apart from ignition and lights they are purely mechanical. The idea of getting involved with computers, software, plugging in leads and all that crap is a complete turn off. Just look at the Nash, fuel, compression, sparks and it has life. It doesn't need anything else.

    You looked at an ASU rotary in this very interesting collection of cars. In the early 70s some Long Island sports car clubs used to do gymkanas at the defunct Mitchell Field airbase in Hempstead NY. I used to put my then new 70 Mustang 302 fastback through the cones so to speak. There was one red ASU that had times better than dune buggies. The property owner in your video mentioned several 1968 or 69 2002 BMWs went to NY I think my neighbor had one from Hassle motors that rented several stalls from The famous Motion Inc. owned by Rosebub or something like that. Years later I discovered his house was only five or six blocks from mine. BTW: in an earlier episode of your tours someone has the real movie Godfather” Lincoln. That scene as shown in a photo near the car with the toll booth was done at Mitchell Field.

    It is an amazing collection. Probably the most special one I have ever seen. First I expected nearly only wrecks and junk, but ther are so many great cars with an incredible potential.
    This guy is not the classical hoarder as he loves his vehicles, fixes some of them up and tries to keep as much alive as possible or at least tries to keep many in restorable condition. Sadly many of the vehicles have to sit outside.

    Just Fabulous.
    Sunbeam coupe, Ford AA truck, Early BMW 2002, NSU spider, Nash Wagon..
    But that Stanley, WOW.
    I would be floored if he didn't have a dozen offers in the six figure area by the end of the day.
    The steam guys are a rare breed, they will rebuild an entire car around about 6 parts, just to save as many as they can. This looks to be one of the last Stanleys ever built, complete and truly in original condition. This is a Pebble Beach worthy car, and I expect we will be seeing more of it in the near future...
    May I recommend Tom go see Scott up @ColdWarMotors? He could be the Alberta branch of the show. His youtube channel is fabulous, but he is a bit "shy". I know he's got a bunch of cars stashed that we have never seen, maybe Tom can get him to open up.
    Between him, his agents, and all the vintage metal junkyards still operating up in Alberta, Scott can probably supply you with enough content for 6 months of shows, and Citroen Safari Wagon to drive around and hunt in.
    Thanks for the great content Hagerty.
