Why is this the greatest barn find collection? Aside from the vast spectrum of American and European sports cars, every single one of these cars is for sale. Accompanied by the collection owner, Mike Sperber, Tom walks around and gives you his best assessment of the cars and what he likes best about each one. Some of these cars have appeared in other "Barn Find Hunter" episodes but there are many firsts among this collection, the best of which include a Daimler SP250, Volkswagen GTI, and several Porsche Speedsters. Leave a comment below and let us know what your favorite car is.

I'd like to take another opportunity here to say THANK YOU to Hagerty for all the great programming
you all provide. I always knew you were a great insurance company (I've been a customer for years)
as well as an obvious friend of the hobby, but these shows are yet another feather in your cap.
Merry Christmas to all my fellow car nuts and prayers for peace in the new year!

I found a 1971 Buick GS Stage One 14 years ago and I didn’t finally get my hands on it till two months ago. It sat for a total of 38-40 years. I am currently rebuilding it on my channel. Unfortunately I was in rough shape and the previous owner butchered it but I am determined to but this Beauty back on the road

I had a buddy who was in love with BuicksGrand Sports he had one with I think a 455 he stepped hard on it 1 night messing around the thing had so much torque it tore the body away from the frame and it was riding with part of the tank and trunk riding over the back tire. That thing for sure was a sleeper it looked a little like a skylark I'm not sure it was either a 1970 71.real nice cars a lot of people know nothing about .At the time I owned a 1970 Chevelle ss 396 He'd take me off the line easy

Car collectors are everywhere. My uncle has several buildings full of cars, and he also collected every motor, transmission, and rear end from all the old muscle cars that he could get a hold of. My first car was a 1969 Chevy Impala 2dr. custom coupe with a 396 big block turbo 400 trans, and had the positrack rear end. I traded the motor, tranny, and rear end out of that car for another 1969 Impala red with a white vinyl top and the slotted mag wheels that had a 327 small block. He still has the 36 ford coupe hotrod he drove in high school. Corvettes and a 68 Camaro convertible basket case he restored from the ground up. His side business was upholstery so all his projects got brand new interiors. Seeing what he has collected over the years leads me to believe there are a whole lot of treasure troves of cars and parts sitting all over the US. Hagerty will have plenty more episodes to give us in the future.

When I was a kid there was a 93 uh Cadillac sedan DeVille grey on grey on grey with red interior. I saw it every single day walking to the bus stop.
The fiberglass was cracked in the bumper was held on with wood screws but otherwise it was complete and clean but it always reminded me of a cheap suit.
There was a 64-66 lime green Ford galaxie on Jacks...
The clean dark green NB Miata...

It is an amazingly original car, and absolutely everything works correctly on it. Once the seats were refreshed, wheels replaced and brakes and fuel lines sorted this car just drives like it was new, a fun time capsule from when I was a kid and dreamt of having one 😂

I don't know why I watch this. I just end up salivating. My favourite cars tend to go out the window a bit in this day and age because its simply appreciating an era of cars that we'll never see again & each in its own right becomes priceless due to the scarcity & difficulty to locate short of bucketloads of money. So yup, really I love this channel but so envious at times. I hate the idea of any of the cars they come across not being saved.

Some of those Porsche cars from the 1980's don't look outdated, and I kept thinking, if I had the chance, yes that's the one I would buy, only to change my mind a bit later! I am biased the Ponton is one I'd love to own. I already have a ponton 220a and have owned a couple of 220S's. A very much under rated car and a better drive than the next model ,the Fintails. I see another Ponton too, a 190 ? .BTW the 190SL was a sedan with a fancy dress 😊.
The Jag 3.8S has a E type style diff with the mk10 style rear body.
The BMW 633 with five speed is a rare car today too. I've had a 628 (!) and a M6 from the sublime to almost ridiculous.
The Mercedes W114 Coupe in the other shed is nice from what i can see but they Do Rust!. Very much so in fact. I have repaired a few of them for clients where whole floor sections had to be changed. Firewalls rust and you can only see the rust if you look up under the dash.

Restoring them, I would reweld the strut mounts, install big strut braces, urethane rear motor mounts, bigger vented brakes (rear discs in the 84), upgrade and protect the wiring, waterproof the fuse box, rewelf & strengthen the pedal box, upgrade the clutches, better headlights, install the fog lights (the mounts are factory, they were intended to have fog lights) and redo the exhausts (loved the rorty growly sounds).
Oh, and keep the 84 black star wheels and 92 turbo wheels.

Sovereign...XJ6 kinda front. S type rear. The S type wasn't as popular as the Mk2, but much nicer to drive with its IRS and improved ventilation. The S type still used Mk 2 doors.

Babylon falling I own an 80s ford and can tell you it’s well know that they weren’t designed to last they were designed to rust to make you buy a new car. The wiring looms are nowhere near built to the standard of modern day cars and are held together with old tape. Yes modern cars have loads of electronics that fail but most of the time it’s just a warning light on the dash. I like classics but I would never want to drive one every day the automotive industry has come along way in terms of economy, safety and comfort whether that’s for the better is debatable.

'Newer' cars dont last longer then this olds. It depends by
the storage conditions and, what brand you try to save.

    • @duradim1
      @duradim1 4 роки тому +5

@@louisgreenleaf235 that is so true. While we complain about how flimsy they are, modern cars are better designed, better protected and have double the life span of a classic car. Babylon falling, are you comparing classic cars that have been restored? I have owned many cars from the 60's and 70's and while I love the styling and the simplicity of working on them, they simply can't hold a candle to modern vehicles in build quality and ride.
