Isn't SD amazing?? My daughter and son-in-law live in Rapid City and we just visited this past August. We have been to Mt. Rushmore, Deadwood, Custer Park, the Black Hills....down town Rapid City many times. All around the area. We love it all! My daughter and I did some antique shopping, our passion, and my husband went to Deadwood-his favorite place! We are lucky to have family here, aren't we?? Safe travels!
Spent time in h Black Hills this past summer and loved It. I would recommend the Crazy Horse Memorial as well as Mt. Rushmore. The museum there is outstanding. So glad to see you also couldn't resist the "Do not pet the fluffy cow" shirt. I love mine.
I took a big camping trip with my 4 kids this summer. Our first night of a 45 day trip a tornado came through the campground!!! It was the scariest experience of my life. Tress went down everywhere, power lines down. EMS had to cut to campers to get people out because trees crushed their rvs. It was insane!
I visited the Black Hills 58 years ago. WOW! It has changed....and for the better. Thanks for sharing your journey. It is much appreciated. Love your RV... perfect size.
Having lived half my long life in Tornado Alley I would choose the overpass instead of a gas station because the winds tear down those overhangs every time. And I would beat it out of the storm's path regardless. Skip the camping spot and drive off at right angles to the path.... which usually means going north or south as storms generally move west to east.
Just rewatched this episode. I always let the commercials play through because you're worth it! I want to travel and i love traveling with you on your adventures.. i learn a lot too! God Bless you and your kitties too!
Hey Tanya & Dave ❤ I am now looking at this video. I am so back logged with these videos. So much is going on that it is hard to lay back and relax without having anxieties. 😂 In response to what you can do to protect the roof of your RV, this may be conducive, but what about buying a heavy duty tarp that may be as thick as 10 mil. You can remove it when weather permits and fold it up for later storm events. Tarp comes in handy for many purposes. I keep a 100 foot 6 mil roll at all times. I can cut some sheeting for window protection and more. Just a thought and a lovey dovey hug to you both. Thanks for keeping us entertained and relaxed, and taking us along on your journeys.😊 Stay blessed. Stay safe. ❤❤❤
My 95 year old Dad's favorite place in our whole country. He last towed his camper from Florida to S.D. at the age of 90!! Can't wait until I am able to get a small camper and follow in his footsteps!! Thank you for the beautiful footage. This will be the place I will go when I get my camper!!
I have to tell you that we have been in all 50 states and my favorite place in the whole country is Custer State Park and my favorite state is South Dakota! I’m glad that you got to go there and share your adventures with us. I really enjoy going on your adventures with you.
I had a tornado warning last spring in Texas. I pulled off the highway and parked at a Cracker Barrel. The radio kept sounding off these counties in the path, and not being familiar with Texas wasn’t sure where I was. Then, to make matters worse, I parked right below the tornado warning siren which started going off. Scared to death!!!! Phone radar finally was my friend and I could see where the storm centers were. Glad you were both safe!
That was a fun ride. Really enjoyed. Love 💕 the way you share your experience.. Each of you telling your adventure and historical information is awesome. Sharing in life! Beautiful!
Your tour was awesome 👌🏾. Crystal-clear footage, I thought I was there. It was beautiful 😍. Thank you. Never thought about visiting Blackhill, Dakota 🤔
When you are camping at campgrounds check out where the storm shelters are. Never park under overpasses during tornado warning.. Took grand daughters to black hills

In May 2020 my wife and I were staying at Elkhorn Ridge RV near Spearfish and we got hit by storms with baseball size hail twice. First one we were sure that we would lose windows or they would even come thru the walls but nothing really happened other than there was 100mph wind and what seemed like an angry MLB team beating our toyhauler with baseball bats. The second time we took shelter in the shower facility and I drove my truck thru the grass and parked it right next to a building on the downwind side to shield it from the hail, and it worked.
I live in spearfish and remember that storm. I was at my taking a nap and woke up to the sound of glass breaking all around. I thought it was a tornado, but it was (as you said) the baseball sized hail and incredible wind. It broke one skylight and 8 windows in our one story home. I grabbed the dog and ran into the closet to stay away from the shattering glass and debris and water blowing into the house. It was terrifying! I can’t imagine what you went through in an RV! So thankful you were able to seek shelter out there.
I am 74 I took my children there camping in the early 70's. It's beautiful, I got put in the jail wagon in Custer for doing laundry during the parade . Horses and riders were painted all colors ..that was a summer we have never got over

Dave and Tanya, I'm so glad the roof of the EKKO made it through that hail. Prior to owning two motorhomes, I had learned about RV roofs and that would be the first thing I'd check when shopping for a coach. An RV roof is literally everything because they are very expensive to replace, and a replacement must be installed by pros. But also "everything" because if they develop a leak, rain water can permeate into the walls of the RV and destroy the entire coach. If this happens it causes internal damage to the walls, mold, ruining insulation, and eventually structural weakness whether the coach has wood studs in the walls or steel, as the steel will rot too. I've seen a coach that had developed such bad roof leaks that the side walls were squishy with water like a sponge when I pushed on it. And I'd seen another that when I opened the door to go inside a flood of water poured out the doorway! I don't know if your EKKO has a one-piece Fiberglas roof like other Winnebago products do. Those roofs are supposed to be very strong. But whether your coach has a vinyl roof, or the Fiberglas type I suggest that you buy a roll of RV Roof Repair Tape to have on hand. You never know when something might rip your coach roof. The roof repair tape is sold at RV stores and it's on a roll about five to six inches wide. And being that width, it will very effectively seal a tear and allow for a couple of inches of overlap on both sides of the tear. The roll of this tape should be heavy and made from the about the same material as the vinyl roofs are. And it's also strong enough for a permanent repair. As well, if a tear was very large requiring a full roof replacement, this tape is also the best first-aid, and will hold your roof until you can have it replaced. I've always felt the better for having this on hand, along with an approved roof cleaner so the tape will properly adhere to the roof.
The easiest way to protect your solar panels and windshield is to pick up some quilted packing blankets… like the one you get at U-Haul. Put them up and strap them down using bungees or ropes. You can use the blankets to tuck in your door to cover the windshield. Works like a charm! We lived in Oklahoma and are now in Kansas so we do have experience with hail! Hang in there guys! By the way, when you ask someone in the plains when tornado season is, the most likely answer is Yes! To all! 😊 that’s why we’re such weirdos and really watch the weather!
New subscriber, enjoyed your video! Glad you didn't get any damage from the storm. One tip regarding tornadoes, do not take cover under a highway overpass, it becomes a dangerous wind tunnel. Hopefully you won't encounter that again! Journey on! (Oh, and I Love the kitties! 😸🐈😁.) ☮️❤️😎
You guys are great I love all the adventures you go on I admire your fortitude and nerve and I also like the fact that I can sit in my humble living room and watch you go on these adventures without having to go on them myself since I'm an old lady thank you so much for your efforts really appreciate this thanks guys
I think you could cut some thin plywood, like paneling thickness to the size of your solar panels use clamps to attach in a storm scenario. They would be light and store pretty well maybe behind or under the bed storage. You probably may not want to be traveling with them on, but in a stationary situation, I think you’d be good! Glad the storm missed you! Just subscribed to your channel! Love your energy! Looking forward to more videos. My wife and Tanya are two peas in a pod, and certainly would be good friends! Enjoy your journey guys. From northern Michigan!

in a hail storm , i always carry a large tarp mine is 20'x40' try and park near a over hanging tree limb attached the rope to the center of the tarp lift it up about 2-3 feet above the rig and its set, . this make for the hail to BOUNCE INSTEAD OF TARP, OR even you can stretch the trap from tree to tree over the rig, . i know its work to place it up i also carry a folding ladder on the rig, that extends to 12'. . been there many times also in deadwood i hope you stood in the place where bill hickok was shot, when you do , you get a headache to this day in pain. bveautiful trip.

1st time visiting Deadwood was back in 1976..the town was celebrating the 100th anniversary of when Wild Bill Hickok was shot at the #10(Old Style) Saloon. There were still hitching post along Main Street for your horse! None of the saloons had slot machines(those didn’t show up until after Dances With Wolves). The fun was traveling from bar to bar as each had its own style. Been back to the Blackhills every year since 1993 (I was stationed overseas for more than 10years). Super happy you found CrazyHorse! We never get tired visiting the memorial as they change the displays constantly. Have fun and DON’T PET THE FLUFFY COWS! Cheers
Somehow came across your channel tonight and I am hooked! What a gorgeous adventure….I am living vicariously thru you!! A new subscriber I will be and look forward to more great trips!
Regarding hail protection. I live in tornado alley. Local lumber yards sell hail screen. It has tough metal in small squares of about 1/2 inch the entire area you buy. If you consider preparing the possibility of heavy, most damaging balls the gap space between solar panels and screen the advice mentioned to create stability to lesson "bounce depth". Our area in KS has hail screen built to protect. Hail usually comes with dark blue, sometimes blue greenish colored clouds here because of the cold air at higher atmosphere levels needed to form ice balls.
I love in Oklahoma where we see this all the time. If this helps. A tornado watch means there’s a possibility that one could develop. A tornado warning means you need to start taking cover.
Never stay at a gas station underpass during a potential tornado. Winds come up and rip up that place and you are in the middle of a fireball! Your best location would have been at your RV resort and hunkering down inside the cinderblock bathroom area if they have it. Always ask when you get to an RV park where the storm shelter is. Every park has one. Always make sure YOU are safe. Your RV is insured and can be replaced. You cannot be replaced.
We've been RV'ing since 2006, and have had travel trailers and 5th wheels. Over the years we've been through some really bad storms, but have been lucky to not have any major damage to our trailers. The worst storm was in 2019 in our 5th wheel, and had some really bad hail during that storm. I was sure that it was going to bust out our sky light over the shower, but it held up well. After the storm the trailer had zero damage but our truck had over $5K worth of dings. Its just scary when you are in a trailer or motor home that moves a lot with the wind. Love your video's
Reminded me of some of our visits to SD. SD is a fun place to visit, although the weather can be extreme. We just missed tornados in Sioux Falls by hours. That night near the Bad Lands we got hit with heavy rain and winds that we thought would tip over our camper. Custer State park is awesome. My daughter took me up to Poets Table and we got to see Mountain Goats up close. We also did a chuck wagon ride that was fun. Thanks for the video it brought back many fond memories.
We went through that very same area back in July. Beautiful area, except we also experienced 3” hail for about an hour or so. Thankfully no car nor trailer damage. Thanks for your video.
I liked the video, brought bk memories when I did a cross country trip by bus from east coast to SD, Deadwood, Mt Rushmore Crazy Horse mountain & museum. I hope in 2023 Crazy Horse Monument/Mountain is complete. Great Adventure Great trip/Adventure. Continue to enjoy life

Do you mean to permanently mount them? That would cause shade on the panels and lower the intake, wouldn't it?

U started to cry.. Made me cry.. I never been in a tornado warnings either.. I just pray you be ok :) God has you !! ALWAYS :)
Thanks Debbie! Crazy Horse Memorial is great, we really enjoyed the museum as well! Btw, excellent taste in tshirts lol!
No RV, live in downtown Manhattan NYC and I love you guys. Great stuff. Thank you. raphael
I visited the Black Hills 58 years ago. WOW! It has changed....and for the better. Thanks for sharing your journey. It is much appreciated. Love your RV... perfect size.
I felt so bad for her. The sound of fear in her voice tugged at my heart. I’m so glad they’re ok, though.
UA-cam needs to allow double thumbs up, this video earned it. Lovely calm, fun couple.
I am 4 minutes into watching and all ready screaming “Don’t shelter under an overpass! Stay at the gas station.” 🙏
Thanks Shelli! We were debating what to do as well! Have you been to the Black Hills before?
Having lived half my long life in Tornado Alley I would choose the overpass instead of a gas station because the winds tear down those overhangs every time. And I would beat it out of the storm's path regardless. Skip the camping spot and drive off at right angles to the path.... which usually means going north or south as storms generally move west to east.
Just rewatched this episode. I always let the commercials play through because you're worth it! I want to travel and i love traveling with you on your adventures.. i learn a lot too! God Bless you and your kitties too!
Thanks so much Lemon Jay! We are glad that you are enjoying our adventures! Have you visited the Black Hills before?
Hey Tanya & Dave ❤
I am now looking at this video. I am so back logged with these videos. So much is going on that it is hard to lay back and relax without having anxieties. 😂
In response to what you can do to protect the roof of your RV, this may be conducive, but what about buying a heavy duty tarp that may be as thick as 10 mil. You can remove it when weather permits and fold it up for later storm events.
Tarp comes in handy for many purposes. I keep a 100 foot 6 mil roll at all times. I can cut some sheeting for window protection and more.
Just a thought and a lovey dovey hug to you both.
Thanks for keeping us entertained and relaxed, and taking us along on your journeys.😊
Stay blessed. Stay safe.
Your music is perfect for this vid! Love that you guys are having so much fun!
Thank you Nancy. 🙏🏾🙏🏻We appreciate it and glad yo enjoyed the video. Ever been to Custer State Park or Black Hills before?
Your trip up to Black Hills looked exciting. My wife and I still want to go up there and see the sights. Thanks for sharing
I have to tell you that we have been in all 50 states and my favorite place in the whole country is Custer State Park and my favorite state is South Dakota! I’m glad that you got to go there and share your adventures with us. I really enjoy going on your adventures with you.
Just came across your channel. What a nice trip! There is a calming energy about you two.
That’s sounds so scary Tom! Wow, glad that you were ok as well. We weren’t really sure where to go after we learned of the warning.
Thank you! We agree with that. So what was your favorite experience in the Black Hills? Did you travel there by RV? - By the way be sure to follow our weekly newsletter for up-to-date info on our trips, reviews, tips, new merch, meetups and more - www.turnitupworld.com/newsletter
Your videos are so good to watch. I don’t RV or anything. I just enjoy your attitudes and your relationship and the adventures
Thanks so much Axis Girl Vaughn!! We really appreciate it.

By far one of favorite stops on our trip!Such a beautiful Place in America and tons of awesome history, Plus the bison were great!
Just came across your videos and I'm in love with both of you 💜Blessings and safe travels. Keep up the good work.
Sunday Gulch Trail is Great. And yes, we stayed in the black hills in our RV! Love your videos !
You guys are are so amazing to watch. The Black-hills are beautiful.

I’ve lived in Wichita Kansas and I have been in a tornado, as long as you know where to go and what to do in a tornado , you’ll be okay 😊.

Wow SD is a beautiful state. Those blue skies, trees, mountains. Time to plan a vacation!
for your solar panels those thick foam sections like for the garage floor that hook together dovetail style. Or a roll up sleeping mat.

Bridal Veil Falls....in Spearfish Canyon....Fabulous
Thanks Carol for the recommendation. We will have to check it out!
Crazy weather there! One motorcycle rally, a flash flood came and swept several custom bikes away.
Prior to seeing this video, the Dakotas have been the last place in yhe US that I wanted to visit. You two have changed my mind. I definitely plan on visiting SD.
We really had a great time exploring and our experience outside of the storm was fantastic. Thank you for watching and really hope you get a chance to explore those places. Thanks for watching! What a great video…you guys ROCK! Love the views, the ride and the KISS❤️
How fun 😀 that lake and rocks are just gorgeous😍
in a hail storm , i always carry a large tarp mine is 20'x40' try and park near a over hanging tree limb attached the rope to the center of the tarp lift it up about 2-3 feet above the rig and its set, . this make for the hail to BOUNCE INSTEAD OF TARP, OR even you can stretch the trap from tree to tree over the rig, . i know its work to place it up i also carry a folding ladder on the rig, that extends to 12'. . been there many times also in deadwood i hope you stood in the place where bill hickok was shot, when you do , you get a headache to this day in pain. bveautiful trip.
I love this area! So Beautiful! You guys are so chill. Love watching you guys
Thanks so much Elizabeth! Yes, we love the Black Hills and South Dakota too! Beautiful country! When was the last time you visited the Black Hills?
Yall are living my dream, I've been up thur there many years ago but in a 18 wheeler and didn't get to see any good things. I'd love to be able to take my dog and get a ride like yalls and just be gone. My life isn't what I wanted and I need to live it for me
It was great going on this adventure with you guys. Visiting Mt. Rushmore is something on mine and my husband's travel wish lists.
I never even thought about going to the Black Hills until I saw your video! I thought it was amazing! Beautiful scenery, fun atv driving and lots of awesome spots to relax. Thanks for sharing! Def new sub! 😘🥰❤
I grew up in the Midwest so we are used to tornados. I’d forgotten how people who arnt used to them would react. I’d probably react the same way if confronted by a hurricane.
You guys are so cute...wow enjoy your adventures 💚
You Guys Thank you For Taking us Along in your Trip Wow Love It All Its Beautiful Stay Safe Godbless you both ❤❤🙏🙏

@@LetsTurnItUpWorld yes! Happy New Year to you both as well!! Side note, others have included some great suggestions for guarding your solar panels in not so great weather conditions. Not sure which, if any, of them you two have used at all, or if you've come up with your own technique (s).
Same here! Started watching last night
I just watched this video and enjoyed it so much I subscribed right away!!! I love your energy and the happieness you bring to the video! ❤️
Thanks so much Kay! We are glad that you have joined us and are excited to share our adventures with you!!
Cheers
The Black Hills of South Dakota looks like a lovey place to visit.
Just love you two together it’s so lovely watching you both,
Somehow came across your channel tonight and I am hooked! What a gorgeous adventure….I am living vicariously thru you!! A new subscriber I will be and look forward to more great trips!
We got hit by a storm on our motorcycle in the Blackhills during Sturgis Bike week. It came up on us so fast. Plus we were in an area with no shelter.
Thanks for the tips! We really appreciate it. Wow, fireball is scary, we didn’t think of that at the time!
How do you make money to create your lifestyle to RV.
Thanks so much George for sharing your experiences in South Dakota!!
We went through that very same area back in July. Beautiful area, except we also experienced 3” hail for about an hour or so. Thankfully no car nor trailer damage. Thanks for your video.
Oh wow! Scary hail!! Glad there was no damage.
Continue to enjoy life
Ya"ll seem like nice people, and so much fun! New subscriber here!
Beautiful, scenic and enjoyable trip.
WOW! WOW! WOW! I haven't been able to find you for over one year and I thought I had subscribed to you. WELL I HAVE NOW! You two are just as wonderful as ever! So glad I found you! HAPPY NEW YEAR, 2023! Blessings!
You could put your window panels on top then put a heavy blanket on top of window panels.
