The Tragedy Of Huey Lewis

- Опубліковано 20 чер 2024
- Huey Lewis is known for his slick harmonica skills and for being the lead singer of Huey Lewis and The News. The band achieved prominence through thanks to its third album, "Sports," and its contribution to the iconic '80s movie "Back to the Future." Does anyone remember “The Power of Love” from the soundtrack?
Lewis actually began his music career in the '70s playing for the band Clover, which was known for backing singer Elvis Costello. But Lewis’ rise to the top of the music charts in the '80s has included some wild tales of hitchhiking across New York, learning how to play the harmonica during rides, and stowing away on a flight to Europe. This is the life, career, and tragedy of Huey Lewis.

I met Huey years ago and he was the most relaxed, centered person you will ever meet. Down to earth, funny...no Ego. He lives in Montana and loves to fish. His music is still amazing
@The Artist ☝️VEGAN ALERT 🚨
Where in Montana? I live in Montana. Would love to meet him. Grew up on his music.
I met Huey in the Las Vegas airport in 2014. And you're right...he's a very pleasant, down to earth guy.

JK Bud! I was in my 20's when Huey broke through. I'd live to sit & talk with him for a while.
Good to see him still around; please don’t call his life a tragedy.
No, not a tragedy as we know it. The tragic line of the entire video is the hearing loss revelation. For a musician to loss their hearing is akin to an artist with severe tremors or cannot hold the brush.
No, Mr Lewis' life is no where near tragic, it could be best described as challenging and adventurous. We should enjoy the music he has produced and remember the best days of our lives....life is short afterall.
AMEN!!!! "Tragedy" refers to "unnecessary waste of talent/time/an inherent gift from God". Huey Lewis rose above and kept recording/performing as long as he could.

Says someone without tinnitus...
@@eriklarson9137 He's in his eighties. Huey had a great life.
@@jlucasound - As of June 2024, Huey Lewis is 73, he will be 74 in July. Don't make people older than they really are. People have to earn their time on this earth. Plus, we get older fast enough as it is.
Remember, life is like a roll of toilet paper, the closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.
Having his ranch in MT, I caught him walking out of a store and asked for his autograph. He said without hesitation, "Absolutely bud!" Thank you Huey! I too suffer from an ear disorder that drives me crazy. Glad I'm not alone. Blessings
Thats cool. Huey is hi-class.

Hearing loss get hearing aids no bigger deal
I have tinnitus as well. Nothing like he has described. It was really bad when it first happened, but now it comes and goes, though the sound is always there. I hear it now. You'll get use to it. Mine is a like a high pitch sound.
I wear two hearting aids just to hear this. Bad hearing runs in my family. Many relatives have severe hearing loss.
I’m a single dad that started playing “Stuck with you” to my son since 2,5months age. Until this day, when he cries, EVERY SINGLE TIME I play that song he stops immediately!
Interestingly my dad used the same song when I was a young boy in the 80’s.
Thank you Huey for making fatherhood a joy! I wish I could attach a video! ❤
I live close to Huey here in Montana, I remember having a beer with him at the local pub here, when he was first diagnosed with his hearing loss. I thought to myself, "This is like a Maestro Pianist losing his fingers" ! But what impressed me more was his attitude, i.e. He was more concerned about his music family, crew and having to cancel all his gigs, and was worried about them and their families not being able to work. Talk about compassionate and big hearted..All the best to ya my friend.
I pray they will find a cure or a way to have his ears hear sound again or music. God help this band.
How nice to have met Huey Lewis,if you don't mind me asking what was he like please?
I wouldn't call anything about Mr Lewis a tragedy. He was great and still is but only with one flaw and that is his hearing. He's dealing with it and I praise him for it. He chose to keep on living and living he does. When I need upbeat and happy music, I listen to Lewis and it makes me feel better. 👍
In a time when music tended to take itself too seriously, Huey Lewis was a fresh breath of carefree rock and roll. Hope he continues his career.
Its over - lets move on

To this day, Huey Lewis and the News (along with Tower of Power) remains the best live performance I have ever heard. They are the only ones I’ve seen who sounded exactly like the record. The mix of sound was impeccable.
Definitely in my top 5. Smallish club with maybe 200 people. They were a fantastic band.
Paula Abdul, Madonna, Jody Watley, Daft Punk and Milli Vanilli don't sound exactly like the record in concert ? Really ? LOL
Exactly- both have staying power!
I agree, a tight professional group. That had fun doing it.
I'd add Weird Al Yankovic to that list...underrated musician because so many people just think of him as "that Eat It guy" almost 40 years after that song came out. And his backing band has been with him every step of the way and are great musicians in their own right. They all have to be in order to play such a huge range of musical styles.
Wasn't the biggest fan, but they gave a free concert on Del Mr Beach for all the Marines and Sailors (and guests) in the area, which was pretty classy, and it was a solid concert. I'll always appreciate that.

This disorder comes with a lot more than just hearing loss and it is incredibly challenging and often very very tragic.

I have to admit that as someone who has based his life around music that hearing his situation brought tears to my eyes and I can completely understand how he wound up contemplating suicide. Imagining being in that situation is heartbreaking.

I remember his reaction to his "instant fame." To HIM, it wasn't instant at all, laboring in obscurity for many years before finally making the charts.
"laboring in obscurity for many years before finally making the charts." Then he deserved his time in the limelight. Unlike some other "artists" who were manufactured by some major label or "big-shot producer" and pitched by the Disney Channel (the reason we're wading waste deep in musical feces) with aggressive marketing. We've got talentless lip-synching pop-puppets having their fifteen minutes of fame stretched out over a decade when the business really should be focused on giving us somebody who has talent, works hard and is modest.
I had no idea he lost his hearing...Lord, thank you for giving us such an incredible band to create & listen to such beautiful music.

I was fortunate to see Huey in person . He was Fabulous!! such a natural cool singer. Love his voice.

Oh, mine too, 😊
Many years ago I had the opportunity as a bartender to "babysit" Huey when he was on tour. He was a lovely man who just wanted to talk about his daughter and her hobby of show-jumping (at which she was apparently very good). I couldn't have asked for a guest to be more of a gentleman.
Glad to know he's always been a proud papa!!
Love Huey Lewis. Great American rock & Roll band. A favorite memory is seeing Huey & the News live at an outdoor event in Erie Pa years ago. They are the best & great fun. Best of luck with your health & please never give up on life.
Hang in there Mr. Lewis. Love you and your music. Loved you on Blacklist! I got hit with roaring tinnitus in 2007. I understand the feelings of hopelessness, but like you have worked to cope with it and occasionally have what I call good days. In 2018, I got hit with Meniere's, suddenly going deaf in my right here -- I thought my right here was totally stopped up. My hearing came back, but have had a few repeat episodes. They put me on a daily anti-viral to help keep it at bay. I am a year younger than you. In 1984, after a tragedy in my life, I moved to SF. I found your music, and it did so much to put a smile in my life again. Thank you!
Huey Lewis has always struck me as a cool guy in a business with a lot of jerks. I'm glad for his success and sad for his hearing loss. I'm hoping he's found another chapter for his life. Ironically, for his hearing recovery, he DOES want a new drug.
I had no idea that Huey Lewis contemplated suicide. 😢 Huey, stay strong! Your music was a big part of my childhood! It defined an era that most people today wish they could have experienced for themselves.Adoring fans like me love you and your music, and losing you would be devastating to us all! Stay strong and keep the faith...

Huey was big. He wasn't a pop star in my eyes. That was straight ahead good Rock n roll. It's a shame to see a true musician go thru that stuff. We love ya Huey !!! Thanks for the great music and memories ❤️
I was born in 1969 and went to university in 1987 in Ottawa, Canada. I remember all the "intellectuals" I went to school with hated Phil Collins, Janet Jackson, Hall & Oates, Jody Watley, Rick Astley, freestyle Latin dance music (such as Noel, Stevie B, TKA, Linear), Paula Abdul and........ Huey Lewis. They claimed that all these "Top 40" artists made fluffy pop music and they preferred alternative acts and 1960's acts. Think for the 80's, the Smiths, the Cure, Tracy Chapman and the Cult and for the 70's Zeppelin, Rush and the Rolling Stones. I always felt this unfair. Maybe Huey did not have socially conscious lyrics but it was all real instruments not synth and drum machines.
I love this guy. I don't think this video was meant to make people think he isn't thankful, but sometimes when you are suddenly robbed of a gift you were given it takes time to accept. So I am gonna say I think he knows how fortunate he is.

The heart of Rock and Roll is still beating....we the fans LOVE you Huey!!!
Beethoven started loosing his hearing in his twenties and was almost completely deaf a couple of decade later. He wrote his Symphony no.9 in those latter years. It is an incredible masterpiece. You may know the forth and final movement of the work Ode to Joy. (Beethoven told a friend “if I belonged to any other profession, it would be easier, but in my profession it is a frightful state”)
I don't get it - whats your point? Huey can still be beethoven? Find a gameboy to work with nobody cares
@@gregbennett9588 That's right. Beethoven went deaf and then composed masterpieces. So Huey Lewis can too! We all can!
But since Beethoven was only loosing his hearing he could just tighten it up, whereas Huey is actually losing his.
Huey Lewis and the News, were the '80's. I enjoy them to this day. I hope you get better soon, Huey!
Nobody looked more 80s than Huey Lewis. It's kind of amusing nowadays that with the beard he looks almost like Bryan Cranston's long-lost cousin.

When I hear the song “Back in Time “ from Huey Lewis and the News , that song does bring me “Back in Time” when life was different, fun and peaceful. I’ve always enjoyed their music.
Ray Parker Jnr "Who you gonna call ...?"
Huey Lewis "Your lawyers !!!"
😂😂😂
Actually he didn't sue ray parker jnr., he sued the studio. It wasn't about ray stealing his song. The studio took his song, then played it for ray parker jnr. and said we want a song similar to this. He spoke about it in great detail in an interview on Fox FM in Australia in the 80's. He said, It's not about someone stealing my bass warp, you can't own a bass warp, it's about how the studio treated us. They asked us for a song we provided a song an idea/ a motif / a demo and then gave our idea away to the next guy. It's about the principal not about song plagiarism.
@@brettchaflton7906 whatever his motivation, the lawsuit pretty much killed Ray Parker Jr.’s solo career.
@@Below-Average_Joe I would say only having "The Other Woman" as your only other hit song had something to do with it also.
@@billkeithchannel I don’t know how much you listened to R&B radio, but Parker had a fair number of hits by himself and with his band, Raydio.
My wife and I saw Huey and the news many years ago at a concert in Conn. Both of us to this day still say that he is the only singer that we have seen live that sounded better live then on record! Was sitting in my dentists office the other day and they had his song “Power of Love” playing on their radio. Just loved it and brought back lots of memories for this 83 year old!

Don't be, it's fun to tell people about, but not usually to be there. Most of the people recording are worried and upset about how things are going. They are almost always competing with themselves, their last album. Most people are nice and everything but they aren't friends...I'm glad I got to be there then, because I realized that I didn't really like that world, it looks so great, but inside, there's nothing there, mostly just people with a lot of insecurities...I talked to some famous people who were unbelievably anxious and worried, all the time. They always have all these people around, day and night, posing as unpaid therapist "friends". These hangers on have no life except being part of someone else's, so they are defensive and overcompensating all the time. Its gets old very fast. It was fun to be a part of, but like eating dessert for every meal, it just becomes sickening after awhile...
His tunes were so addictive, just a pleasure walk around humming all day. I still do it now, and have not heard any of it in 30 years.

And yet again we have this channel not understanding the word "tragic". He's alive. It can't be that tragic!
I was thinking the same thing. If Huey died tomorrow, and I sure hope he doesn't, he would have already lived a life most can only dream of.
Just being alive does not mean it can't be tragic, but I understand your point and agree that Huey's life has been anything but tragic. I am sure he would probably agree. He has so much going for him and like Linda Ronstadt, he has some wonderful memories. Nothing tragic in that.
If you had Ménière’s, loved hearing and singing music and couldn’t, you too would consider it tragic. Trust me.
The Channel owner uses the word "tragic" often because he figured out it attracts more views.
Contemplating suicide is pretty tragic
Always liked him. Often wondered why he and his band didn't record after their rapid rise to the top of the charts and success. Now, sadly, I know. God bless you, Huey. 🎧 We need a new song!!!🎵
Great “happy “ songs band. You could actually understand the lyrics
Huey Lewis was a student at Cornell and studied Chemical Engineering. He was also an all-state baseball player, and could have played the minors...the majors if he had worked toward it. This man had EVERYTHING: smarts, athleticism, artistic talent, a sense of humor, and had a hot rockin' bod (in "many" ways - the rumors are true!).
He may not have everything that he had hoped for, but his life has been blessed -- even after his music career stalled because of "circumstances". I'm glad that he decided to stick around to be a presence for his family and to inspire others.
I remember thinking that before too. The combination of high intelligence, looks, artistic ability, athleticism, and great personality......don't know if I've ever seen another person with that total level of it all
So Huey Lewis has more academic credentials as a scientist than Bill Nye the Seattle cable access comedian. Bill has a BS in Mechanical.
@@billkeithchannel Hey now, Almost Live! was on KING 5 for 15 years.
But that's the thing about science on TV, whether it's a comedian, a couple of guys in the special effects business, or an English major whose acting career got interrupted by World War II. The contribution's about getting kids interested in science, and those kids grow up to cure cancer (or if they're of the Thomas Midgely Jr. persuasion, they grow up to cause it...)
Remember listening to them in the early '80s had most of their albums they were original down to earth and just a good group of guys and very talented it's sad that Huey has lost his hearing but he still has the passion to create music and to perform live is phenomenal

Huey Lewis and the News had (and may still have) the tightest and most musically solid sound of their genre. He added the "growly groove" to a studio quality band and produced a sound that was unmatched.

If Huey ever sees this...
Huey, though we’re very opposite personalities, we’re both musicians and also fellow Cornellians. I’m classically trained at both Ithaca College and Cornell (1981-84) but also write songs in popular style. In many ways “The Power of Love” set a wonderful/hopeful tone for BACK TO THE FUTURE and, like all good film music, added just the right emotional depth-Thank You for such a great ‘feel good’ song with such a smart and well-expressed lyric! I’m so happy for you that you’ve had success in life and hope that much happiness has found its way to you too.
Shades of Beethoven and Brian Wilson, Huey! Your hearing issues are beyond any commonly experienced or understood measure of frustration, I’m sure, and I say that as someone who’s been through chronic illness in life myself, including tinnitus. I do think there’s value in seeking out multiple opinions on health issues, and you probably already have done that. Even so, I wanted to share a perspective with you here which I think tends to apply to many, many health problems, including those for which medical science doesn’t yet know the cause: The human body is exceptionally complex/sophisticated and DESIGNED to heal itself whenever that’s possible. What makes healing possible are the right conditions and necessary resources for the body to make use of to carry out the healing process.
Unless your hearing loss issues are due to some congenital situation, their sudden development (twice) means that something is interfering with the normal functioning of some part(s) of your body in some way that your body can’t fully address and heal with rapidity. Either your body doesn’t recognize the nature of the ailment, or its ability to heal the problem is being interfered with somehow. What does the body need to heal? Well, a properly functioning immune system; consistently sufficient nutrition, exercise, and sleep; and the ability to detect the ailment and address it to the extent that homeostasis monitors and seeks to correct such things, etc.
The nervous system/spine are often key components in many ailments so looking at nerve health may be fruitful. Hearing loss/aberrations must occur relative to the hearing apparatus itself and/or to those parts of the body that process/interpret audio information. You are your own best observer of your symptoms and sometimes doctors miss or don’t take notice of key clues even when you dutifully report all known symptoms to them. As I say, there are health conditions that medical science doesn’t yet understand, or fully understand, in order to know how to BEGIN to devise and offer treatment for them.
The most important part of what I wanted to say is this: The body is INTELLIGENT in its response to disease; treatments should work WITH the body to address the underlying cause rather than against it by only attempting to suppress symptoms; and EVERY SYMPTOM of what’s wrong MEANS SOMETHING if only it can be properly understood and ‘decoded.’ If you notice ANYTHING that either helps or worsens your symptoms it’s AN IMPORTANT CLUE of SOME kind, and there may be someone who can interpret such alterations in symptoms for you, although you may find such a person outside traditional (allopathic) healthcare. The bottom line is: Whatever helps HELPS, and there’s no arguing with success if you can find someone who helps your condition improve or even resolve itself.
These thoughts do stem from dealing with chronic illness in my own life, and I hope they may be of help to you too, Huey.
Best wishes,
Don C.

As someone who also suffers excruciatingly bad tinnitus - I feel his pain. The noise is almost unbearable, but I’ve also learned to live with it.
I agree, I deal with the same issue with tinnitus. It has become very loud and my hearing loss is worse. Music makes my tinnitus and hearing loss worse. It is heartbreaking; I love music and used to listen to music for hours. Very sad; but, you have no choice in the matter. Indeed, you must learn to live with it.

People cannot understand how my hearing loss has devastated me as a vocalist. I think I am in pitch but can be told I am not and it depends on the circumstances to be able to do much with a conversation or to use the phone. I feel for Huey as a man much more talented than I to have to deal with something that ruins his ability to be the man we all expect him to be. God help you Huey. Thanks for the episode.
blessings man!
David Tucker: Do you have a cochlear implant?
I Rick Beato has a great video on losing perfect pitch.
@@johndef5075 Of course he would. That dude has a video on everything.
Huey has always been my favorite. Do you believe in love is my favorite song and I sung it to my wife shortly after “I Do”. I shed a tear for what he’s lost and the world has lost.
He is one of the greatest Rockstar that ever graced the musical stage of worldly domain...we all love people who do the best to entertain and promote their good positive creativity, style and professionalism and good role models for all generations!!! Kudos! Rockstar Jimmy!
He has given and gave a great legacy, his music and songs, yes the happy and uplifting xx
I got all Huey’s hits in cd and several vinyl albums that should show my age!
Never EVER loved a music band as much as Huey Lewis. They have been a vital support in my life. They still are and they always be. Full stop
You missed the whole "Back to the Future" franchise, using his songs in their movies. Huey is a National Treasure!!
I've always loved Huey's music and voice, wow. Being a musician all my life and having some of the same issues I understand some of the pain he's going / gone through.
I ran into Huey at the 1982 Super Bowl at Stanford Stadium, and yacked with him for a while...nice guy.
Nothing last forever But Huey Lewis an the news will be forever with me all my life i grew up with listening to his upbeat Music!!!! Thanks to the whole band!!! May God bless each an everyone!!!
"I'm afraid you're just too darn loud", Back to the Future.
I too, suffer from tinnitus brought on, in part, by playing music too loud in the sixties. Too bad we didn't have those ear monitors and the knowledge to protect ourselves back then.
I never cared much for Lewis' music, but this broke my heart. I hope he will be able to make music again, whether it's music I like or not.
You have obviously never tried to listen to his music. He has made just about every genre ever, except rap and reggae.
@@TrumpFanNetwork2 I've heard lots and lots of his music. I find nothing wrong with it. I don't think there is anything wrong with people who DO enjoy it. I make no value judgment, good or bad, of his music or his fans. Quite simply, the things that draw me to music, many of which are intangible and hard to describe, are absent from his music. Some people like chocolate ice cream, some people like riding bicycles.
As a musician myself I can not imagine a worse agony than losing my hearing--so far I've been lucky. As I said above, I hope he can get fully back to making music. It is clearly the thing his life is all about. I wish him nothing but happiness and a fulfilling life doing what he loves to do. I know what it means to him because I know what it means to me. They call that "empathy."
@@TrumpFanNetwork2 Everyone has their own taste. As someone who was a teen in the 80s I was very familiar with his songs. I never cared for the style either.
@@bobparker8294 Exactly. What a terrible thing, for anyone but doubly hard for a musician. I too suffer from 24/7 tinnitus/loud ringing in my ears and always wonder if it will end up with hearing loss. Huey seems to at least have a good attitude about it all now.
@@DarlaAnne I had tinnitus. for approx.3 1/2 years.. It was horrific.....I though t it would never go away but amazingly...it did..
So sad what he has gone through with his hearing loss.
I'm deaf as a post it has its advantages
Me too take off when sleeping- I don’t hear nothing klink
It's so depressing and tragic that he can't hear anymore! He was, without a doubt one of the best singers to happen in my lifetime and I'm 56 years old!! I truly hope that some doctor figures out how to help our good friend!! Because it would be so tragic for us that we can't hear him make new music for the rest of our lives!! We absolutely and truly love you Huey!!
I follow Huey Lewis and The News on FB and had to pull up the video of Power of Love (the featured song) since all that page does is post a picture. That led me here, great channel and great story too, Thank you.
He was in the band Thin Lizzy for a brief period, you overlooked that.
I thought I saw Phil Lynott in the slide show.
I didn't watch the vid only listened.
Really?🤔
Hell yeah....his old band, Clover, toured with Lizzy. Huey played harmonica on a few tunes and is also featured again on Lizzy's Life/Live album. The News also did an amazing Lizzy cover. Thin Lizzy forever!!
@@jongilbertson2106 you also might have seen Scotty Gorham in the vid, too
How tragic. To contemplate suicide? He’s an artist and singing is his life. I hope he can find a doctor that can help him. He has an unique voice and I would love to see him perform again. 🙏🏼
not just that but it would suck to not even be able to listen to music anymore as a fan that would be depressing but his kids need him so I am glad he got better with his mental health there is always hope
It is sad so many musicians wind up with something. Peter Frampton had to finally quit touring because of a muscle illness. Eric Clapton's hearing is almost gone, plus he has a muscular illness that makes it actually painful to play. But, he keeps plugging away... but with far fewer concerts. And, he still plays with the full stage sound in his ears. He says he just cannot adjust to in-ear monitors. He HAS to hear the band the way is sounds. So... his hearing will only get worse. But, that is HIS choice. I've had ringing in my ears a few times. And, it drives you absolutely MAD. I wish Mr. Lewis and Mr. Clapton all the best, and hope something will come along to improve their hearing. Their music WILL be missed.
Huey! A sad story but a life of music that always provided a smile. I still hear the melodies and magical beat that the News provided. Can't say that about television news.. Rock on Huey and thanks for the tunes.
I like Huey Lewis and the News. Really got me up and dancing. 💃💃👯👯Thank you and the band for making such wonderful memories of my past through your music. I am so sorry to learn of your hearing issue. I had no idea! I pray that your symptoms cease, and your hearing returns for you. God bless you. 👍❤️🎶🎵🎸
I grew up w/ this music and used to ride my bike to the store w/ my headphones on.
Edit - my Sony Walkman cassette player
@Sniper Logic - lol. I will change it to a Sony Walkman. I was in my early teens before I could drive.
Huey sang good-natured songs in the '80's & early 90's. I really do wish Him the best, as there aren't many Feel Good songs around these days like what He & The News used to play,..
Huey Lewis & The News was my first concert, I don`t know what you to say if I never seen them. but, it put music into my Life. Without them I believe I would not be such a great music lover ! Thanks Huey ! it so hard to deal with a disability but all ways understand that people have a great deal to overcome some more then others and I truly respect that in him ! I pick one of the greatest band in the world to be the first, and I know I got that right !
Embracing the man, and sharing his ear problems. Love you!
He will "Go Back To The Future" and be OK
hey, i seen Michael J Fox in the garden centre, well i think it was him, he had his back to the fuschias
or back in time.
lol
that would be great.
"Sorry guys but you're just too darn loud" takes on a whole new meaning now!! Peace & love to ya Huey.
You know you’re famous and you have met all of life’s accomplishments, when you finally get that UA-cam video entitled, ‘The Tragedy Of ...’’.
Yeah I was on the tragedy of Chris McDowell
He is a Survivor and has come through it all ... Bravo! Hearing loss is such a profound dilemma for a musician or singer.
Mr. Lewis. I just became aware of your hearing issues this past week. I have had success in 2020 when i lost hearing in my left ear, treatments helped but other methods as well. Binaural beats and such into the ear with headphones.
I am thankful for your music through my life and if i can help with ideas I am more than happy to try. No gimmicks, i know the depression only too well of hearing issues, esp for a musician and if i can help i am happy to sir.
Sincerely
Jason
I was on the same flight to Honolulu as Huey Lewis in 2008. My husband spoke to him briefly in the airport, where Lewis was sitting alone waiting for his driver.
My parents went to see a concert of his and when i found out they went without me i was so jealous. They said they would buy me tickets next year but that's when he was dealing with hearing loss and cancelled the shows. Hope he's doing ok, sad I never got to see them live
I'm glad he is still with us, he has left an impression on many people by the music he performed, and will be remembered long past his passing, whenever that happens. Thanks Huey!
The information in this video was somewhat helpful to hear though sad... my brother had a PhD in music, was a high school band teacher and had his own band. He could play most any Instrument... He started going deaf in his mid 30's from this same disease. He died in an accident many years ago and my way of dealing with him being gone all of these years was thinking maybe the accident actually saved him from many years of futuristic suffering. Heartbreaking to hear about Huey's struggles with such a career ending disability.
