  • In this Classic Mini Mk1 Conversion episode we show how to remove a Mni inner wing ready to receive the new heritage Mk1 panel. This is the first step in the Mini Mk1 conversion to house the Mini Mk1 doors with external hinges. We also fabricate and fit a small new repair panel on the rear or the Classic Mini.

In my time I've been in countless body shops and vehicle restoration businesses and in most cases, your skill set and attention to detail stands head and shoulders above all but a few professional outfits. Absolutely loving this series of vlogs and your relationship with your Dad is golden and enviable...

The tool is a joggler, generally used to form a lip which would sit behind the panel you are welding to so you have an overlapping joint not a butt joint to have to weld. You can purchase air operated ones. The one in the video sometimes comes with a hole punch on the other side and the head rotates to use the punch.

I’m sure earlier minis are better rust proofed than the latter ones, my rotten 67 shell is not as bad as that, and I’d say that shells not too bad for a later mini. Maybe it’s a paint thing?

Hi! Yeah I think you could be right on the paint, plus I’ve heard the quality of the metal used on later cars isn’t as good, which would contribute to the rust.
