We’re at 10% inflation with wages trailing miles behind prices; you cannot blame that on workers.

Well there is a supply price spiral right now. The Tories have shown no way to control it. Truss is promising tax cuts which without huge productivity performance improvements will also increase this spiral, guess what there are no details on how they would increase productivity. So how else do they plan to temper (note that I don't say reduce) inflation, they make people take real pay cuts. This country is on a very fast track to recession with high inflation. Still the Tories will go with Truss, what a mess.

I'm a skiver, a scrounger, a lazy bastard, who can't work following a "life changing" accident. People didn't like people like me "living a life of luxury" on benefits, because the Daily Mail, Government, BBC (same thing) and Channel 4 told them they didn't. They voted for benefit cuts, they applauded benefit cuts, well here's a surprise, if they need help now or in the future, it isn't going to be there. If people have "life changing" accidents or suffer serious illness (1 in 2 or 50% of us are going to get cancer) who's going to support them. We can't afford to save because outgoings outstrip income, there's no point sitting there, thinking "it will never happen to me" statistically, yes it fckng will. They've voted away, not only my safety net but also their own, if or when it happens, not the smartest of moves really. You see, this lazy, scrounging, luxury living piece of shit worked for over 40 years. So I thought I would get splattered across the road by a large lorry, then I wouldn't have to work anymore!!!! Anybody, absolutely anybody can find themselves in my position, tomorrow or the next day or whenever. Then we can welcome them into the "life of luxury" club. We can all sit on the sofa, eating takeaway pizza drinking beer and watching sky TV. Because that really happens, in the minds of people who will never wear their brains out thinking for themselves. The temptation is to say "fuck them, it's what they wanted" but the reality is, I don't want to see anybody else going through it. It's time to stop shooting ourselves in the foot, over 150,000 people have died under the current system. They've done the sick, they are doing the low paid, then it will be moving on up the food chain. They have tried it once before but it didn't work, so watch out for the restart of the generation war. Why should those bloody pensioners be rich while you work full-time and can't afford to live. Don't fall for it there are very few rich pensioners. These divisions hand everything to the government on a silver plate. How many times are we going to keep handing it to them and get fck all back when we most need it, whether by accident, illness or unemployment?

So that may explain why she was there, the attraction of money for toffee. The real question though, is why she was invited, no?

I'm not sure they are. We're told that, by the press. And you can hear some people for yourself when you're out and about, but how do we know the actual percentages, for and against. Also, unusually, this time around some of the tv media is actually quite favourable, and they're acknowledging that there is public support.

Because many working class people are more interested in what is happening in Love Island than what goes on in the real world.

They aren't dead set against unions. People care what happens in their workplace, and the workplaces of their families and friends. They care about being able to get transport, healthcare, education, etc. Union-busting managers staff hamper efforts for collective bargaining. Agency staff are dismissed if they try to organise. Tories, New Labour trying to win Tory voters, tabloids and media outlets striving for balance over accuracy shape it differently and make you think no one cares. People do care. It's their faith in getting change that's been damaged.
The same story for the past decades.
      Worker: "What about a unio-"
Manager: "Your productivity dropped by 0.5% last week. Bye!"
*rinse repeat until workers come together outside the workplace*
      Workers: "Union, we need representation."
Union: "Our members need better conditions."
Bad Employers: "Hmm. I could do, but let's pretend it's Bargain Hunt instead. You asked for a fair wage, but I won't be beaten, so how about I reduce their pay cut from 6% to 3% and they work more hours?"
      Union: "Uh, no."
Bad Employers to Press: "It's unaffordable."
      Bad Employers to Tories: "Ahem?"
Tories: "Militant unions are out of control. Clamp down now!"
Press to Union: "Some other industry are paid less than your members."
Union to Press: "They should be paid more."
      Tories: "With what money tree?"
      Union: "The profit."
Tories: "Profit isn't a bad thing."
      Union: "I didn't say th-"
Tories: "This is all just militant unions propped up by Marxists."
Union: "Employer is refusing to budge. Tories are being Tories."
Workers: "What do we do? Do we strike?"
Union: "That's a last resort. There are several things that can be done ahead of considering strike action. Work to rule and such."
      Workers: "Alright, let's try that."
      Bad Employers: "..."
      Union: "Still not working."
      Workers: "What now?"
      *repeat a few times*
Union: "Unfortunately they're unwilling to improve conditions."
Workers: "But we can't go on like this."
Union: "Before your workplace collapses, they need to see what it would be like. They need to understand that this is a serious issue. Do you want to accept their latest offer, or strike?"
Workers: "Their latest offer is unacceptable. Strike."
      Service: *slows down*
      Workers: "Support the strike!"
      Public: *beep* *cheer* *tea*
Public: "I hope it gets fixed soon."
Press: "This is still going on with no end in sight."
Tories in "committee": "Who's to blame?"
Bad Employer: "The union." + *unfounded claims*
      Union: "The employer." + *evidence*
      Tories: "The union's to blame."
      *continues in more industries*
Tories to Press: "Everyone's in the same boat. Things are really tough and we have to make difficult decisions."
*cut services, reduce quality of life, increase nihilism*
Public: "People should have good conditions but we're all in the same boat now. No point trying to change things, they don't care."
      Workers: "Support the strike!"
Public: *beep* *cheer* *tea* "I can now only dream of things getting better for any of us."
Press to Public: "How much disruption are these strikes causing you?"
Public: "A lot. It's been going on too long. It needs fixing."
      Bad Employers to Tories: "Ahem?"
Tories: "New anti-union laws on the way"
      Workers to Union: "What now?"
Union: "They've made striking more difficult. We need to ballot again."
      *ballot fails*
Workers: "We can't go on like this"
Bad Employers: "I'll hire some staff"
Bad Employers to Agency: "Give me some temp staff"
Bad Employers to employees: "We're reducing the size of this section and renaming the department. You can apply through agency."
Former employees, now agency staff: "wtf?"
*workplace continues operating with low conditions, high turnover of workers*
      *continues for years*
      *pandemic*
      *energy crisis*
*tories keep trying to be tories*
      Workers: "Fuck this."
      Union: "Fuck this."
      Public: "Fuck this."
      Bad Employers: "This is great!"
Tories: "Getting trashed in the polls though..."
Bad Employers: "Not to worry, saturate the news with whatever you have available and they'll forget about it"
      Tories: "The electorate aren't stupid."
Bad Employers: "... ... You had me going there for a minute!"
Tories: "Gotcha! Haha. Economy's fucked anyway, we'll throw the next couple to Labour and let them take the flack. Toodles for now!"

Several years ago I heard a multi millionaire warn those with excessive amounts of money that unless they shared their wealth, the people would come after them with pitchforks. He asked for fair wages, if people were paid a fair salary, they would instantly improve the economy by spending more....makes sense.
