My grandmother died of colon cancer about thirty years ago. My father died of kidney cancer in early 2020. This family history forced me to rethink my lifestyle as I entered my 50s. I have successfully introduced lots of berries, leafy greens, nuts and cruciferous vegetables into my diet. I have also scaled back red meat and replaced it with fish. Earlier this month, I decided that it is time to replace some of the animal products with whole grains and legumes. I will begin climbing the learning curve this week. I bought a large instant pot and will start experimenting with lentils, barley, rye berries and oat groats. Wish me luck!

I just learned that the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, has an open interventional study to evaluate a 12-week vegetarian diet on chronic inflammation and cardio-metabolic parameters. I don't know what my chance of participating are, but I have contacted the people running the study. It would be fun to be a part of that.

The Mediterranean diet seems to be the favourite with health researchers at the moment. Plant-based is as healthy or unhealthy as you make it.
The same applies to the Mediterranean diet. A plant-based diet and a Mediterranean diet have a lot in common.

I've been considering going plant-based because 1) all 4 of my grandparents had diabetes and so does my dad and 2) I have IBS and diverticulosis and I'm tired of the constant pain.

Detox heavy metals first for a whole year. Yes whole year you gonna eat cilantro you got that toxic heavy metals you get from meat vegetables and fruits. Then once your organs kidneys liver and gut got less heavy metals it can absorb the food you gonna take it doesnt matter if its meat, fruits or vegetables.
