First trout was a rainbow, second and third are brown trout. Also, trout aren't as sensitive to noise as they are to movement, especially shadows. I've caught tons of trout while boats are passing by. They are also a fish that best not to horse in because they do have soft mouths and they are easier to release when they are tired. Best also to try and keep them in the water if you plan on releasing. Glad to see you in North America. I hope you have/had a blast!
@chriskaighn8819 I must've missed one. With all that stripping down to water, release a stocked trout in a lake supplied by spring runoff. I though Cavy's nuts would implode and I didn't want to see that so, I might have skipped ahead to the catching scenes 😅
Epic release of that rainbow! I had to laugh when I picture so many American anglers who can't fish without waders and heavy jacket, and there you go taking off all your clothes to release a trout in an ice-cold mountain lake. Respect.
I'm from this area and love to see your excitement catching new species. I used to watch your MorningTide videos and stay up all night envisioning myself doing what you were doing. I got to go in 2019 and caught some land based trevally, taylor, and salmon. All were new species for me. I was on such an adrenaline rush from the very first cast.
What I really like about your videos in new places is that you head out with locals but go off on your own and fish your own gear and techniques and earn those new species . Deadly bud. Rainbows and a beautiful brown. Eeow 🤙🤙
Oh, you're in the Sierra! God's country. A place people must see, so much there and it's breath taking. Plus, Yellowstone, Glacier, SW Colorado. So glad you're here. Hope you love our Western mtns.
A quality net helps with landing trout. Especially if you are in a catch and release or barbless hook zone. Enough practice and they never leave the water. This is a gorgeous area, special.
He landed most of the fish he caught. All you need to do is wet your hand. Be a boring video if he never lifted them out of the water for us to see them. All swam away healthy.
My grandmother taught me how to fish at the June lake loop, sierras. I was 5 on vacation with grams and caught my first fish at June lake, 1960. Enjoy your videos very much, best of luck fishing in my home state 💪🎣🎣
It's so exciting seeing you catch the fish that I grew up catching. I watch you catch GTs wishing I could do that- 32 min in yes beautiful brown trout brother.. wait till you catch a brook trout!! ❤ They are my favorite...! Orange pink meat.. mmmmmm
Sick man that's insane love this video wait till you get a real lively one they somersault and strip drag like mad!! They are definitely a great fish I guided a guy yesterday and his pb trout is a 20lb wild brown and it was hugeeee!! 🔥🔥🔥🎣🎣🐟🐟
Yeah mate been meaning to do that for over 10 years hahahaha ever since the first time snowboarding in Wānaka! Remember seeing huge trout swimming everywhere 😂
Hey Cavy, long time subscrber here! Hit us up next time you're in CA. We'll get you on some kayak saltwater fish or atleast try to help you out somehow! Congrats on the first trout!!
congrats on ur first trout cavy n with a water release, awesome. holy crap that looked cold. next time has to be winter trout on the snowy river bak home bro.
my favorite fish is trout 😍 if you want to release them , it is advisable not to keep them out of the water and not to touch them with dry hands .. trout is a very fragile fish 🫡 cheers bro !!
It’s awesome to see you in the states catching the kind of trout I’m used to lol. Just a bit different than your trout eh? Awesome video brotha. Yeeew 🤙🏼
From the ocean to my favorite trout lakes in the sierras, these videos have been awesome. So cool to see someone I’ve watched my whole childhood fish the places I’ve fished my whole childhood. Thanks cavy, love it man
Welcome to Cali 👋. You were killing it on the pink minnow. Were you able to get out to the coast? It would be cool to see you do some fishing off the rocks out here.
If you see a mountain lion, just get it in a triangle and shove your thumb up its starfish - it'll soon learn who's boss! Great content as always, and you had a nice cool temperature to fish in👍(trout fight well, but they're relatively sensitive to being out of the water for long, and bowl over pretty easily).
Yeah I don’t like the whole boat thing.. sadly these lakes were full to the brim with them, did my best to cut them out of the video. But the old guys at the end in the little tinny was classic!! ❤️
obviously you caught fish but a recommendation is to try a spinner which is a piece of metal with a blade i have caught soooo many rainbow and brown on them but look you still caught fish so well done cant wait to see more vids
Yeah I have one I just don’t like using spinners , too boring style no creativity in my opinion but for sure work fine! So yeah I get it! It’s like using live bait, super effective but for me I don’t enjoy it!
What a great fishing experience, the camping, food and spot were awesome. I was waiting also a jiu jitsu scene of yours to a bear 😅✌...cheers 🍻 yeeeeeeewwwww
Hopefully you'll catch a proper big rainbow one day. The world all tackle record Rainbow trout was caught only a few hours away from where I live (Saskatchewan, Canada). It measured 42-inches long (107cm) , with a 32-inch girth (81cm) , and weighed 48-pounds (22Kg).
Bro, you are in my area again/still! I don't care for the local freshwater scene, but I'm happy watching your videos as usual. Hang out a little while longer or go to San Diego to catch some Bluefin Tuna!
Cavdog...so glad to see you enjoying the lakes in California. Hope California was more than you expected. I'm in the East Bay across from San Francisco. I do hope you can get up to this area someday and do some Coastal Salt Water fishing, like I mentioned to you a few years back. Dig, DmGrk
@@CavyFishing thanks master cavy for fulfilling the eyes of fishing enthusiast. I hope one day we can fish together in the Philippines. During the south east Monsoon season that's the time of the monster GT.
“I just tumbled” 😂 crazy to see the opposite climate. Used to seeing insane tropical islands with crystal clear water catching monster GT’s. In the mountains of northern Cali no less!! My backyard. So sick! Looks like a lot of fun. The underwater release is so sick. Such cool colors. You are nuts for jumping in bet hey 😂 🤙🏼🇺🇸
Trout are a very special freshwater sport fish we are incredibly lucky to have a world class fishery in Australia and around the world just like the USA . Nice work cavy on the release.
Cavy when trout fishing, I would recommend sticking with fly-fishing. Sure you can catch them spin fishing fine, but as someone who came from spin fishing into fly-fishing, fly-fishing will give you so many more options depending on conditions, and can be so much more technical. PS that second brown was sooo nice!
I hear you, but i'll never be a fly guy, its just not my thing bro. I guess for me i fish for the ease of catching fish and dont really enjoy messing with gear. Keep it simple. Surfing on the other hand is where i like to get more technical at times.... I'll leave the fly fishing to you legends!
Looking forward to seeing you venture further north! Good to see you up and about. Covid is a beast it took me down a notch for months, and I wasn't playing footsies with rattlesnakes ;)
Awesome fish, looked like a great time. And its great your trying to revive them. I wouldn't suggest lipping them though or touching them with dry hands if you plan on releasing them.
Congrats on the first ever trout Cav! I live just north of Cali in Oregon and have targeted them most of my life. They can definitely be elusive! What a beautiful place for your first catch.
Interesting trip for little trout. Perhaps you should have rented a kayak. Cavy props to the chef who I believe went out of his way to blow your mind. The food looked outrageous for a camping trip. You need to go to Alaska and catch all species of salmon and halibut. Peace.

My neck of the woods. I fish the Eastern Sierra year around.
Nice video. Just remember with trout. You can't touch there gills and don't keep them out of water for long.
