The dude in the Hellcat kept taking off before they could even line up because he didn't want to get embarrassed by a GTI. He was basically saying "look how fast I am but I don't want to prove it in a race". Everyone knows the Hellcat is faster in the end but if he takes off late he doesn't have time to catch up before having to slow down. That GTI is QUICK. 😅

@@robertcastillo90 Hardly. And I mean HARDLY. The housing is damn near the same. Compressor is just a tad bigger. The IS38 is still by any means a small turbo. It's not a big turbo.
Owner of this car only calls it a "bigger" turbo. Which is true. Doesn't call it a "big" turbo. But I have seen guys call IS38 big turbo lol. As an IS38 owner myself. They can slap. But they're still small.

I'm going a different tuning route than most. Getting a steinbauer power module and custom tune in four weeks. Sachs clutch kit next summer with wheels and tires. Wanna do an intake, but doubt ill drop that kinda money just for sound with no power increase. Pretty excited. 6spd Mt!!!!!! Love that there's some of us keeping the manual alive.

Dope, im tuned by 5150 as well. Running IS38 full E85 on MPI/LPFP. I set the record for OEM IS38 60-130 at 8.91 sec haha.
Do you like your 5150 tune? Can you say how it compares to EQT's E tunes?
I ask because I'm about to take the fueling plunge for my IS38 GTI and am trying to figure out who to go with tune wise.

I think stage two is injectors, downpipe, intercooler and fuel pump. Stage 3 is bigger turbo and tune

I agree. The gutting hurt my soul as a GTI owner myself. I wouldn’t sacrifice my interior for speed. But it’s his car and he clearly still shows it the love it needs. As long as he loves it is what matters.

dillon larose depends what your goals are. Is38 can get you 350-360whp pump gas eblend around 380whp full e 400-420whp. Is38 hybrid also varies at a wide range depending on fueling mods but maxed out stock block you can see low 500whp out of a good is38 hybrid

Why do people rev past redline? I mean the power peaks at 5k and drops after that. I understand that when you shift might keep it in the power band but power drops after 5k rpm. I had a stage 2 mk7 didnt feel much pull after 5k rpm especially considering that the torque drops off significantly after 4k rpm I believe. Too bad I can't prove any theories as I no longer race cars anymore but just wondering.
The owner swap his turbo from is20 to is30. So probably the powerbands/peaks are a lil bit different from those with stock is20 gtis

2017/18, can't go wrong with a mk7 and if you get a late 17 it got a face lift and an upgraded digital dash, plus the performance pack is standard on the late 2017+ models so you get a little more hp, bigger breaks from the R and an electronic limited slip differential. I picked one up in July and I love it
100% get a facelift Mk7.5, I have a 2020 and it’s so nice.
All depends on your budget. You can get a MK 6 for cheap now if you look around.
