Those Golf R's with DSG are no joke. I raced one running 500+bhp on my Aprilia tuono 1100 and upto 80-90mph there weren't much in it. They put the power down fantastic

Golf R is a very under rated car. With a UM tune its faster than my buddy's stock E55 and that thing is quick! So basically for $1300 u get close to a 100 extra hp. Not bad for 10 minutes of programming.
I've owned three different gen GTI's (all tuned) and now I'm in a stage 2 mk 7.5 Golf R... I will tell you that this thing is an absolute beast. It's an AWD Porsche 718 with two extra doors and a hatchback.
Yeah, a fully built 2 liter with all racing parts and 40+lbs of boost and still couldn't beat an almost stock ZL1. Put as much money into the ZL1 and it would be in the low 8 second range. Lmao
it‘s crazy how here in Europe, when being at almost any custom cars event where drag racing takes part too, everyone with super cars or just any sports cars gulps the moment they see any hatchback, which has looks those of almost sleeper or anything that says: “I own a tiny little hatchback with almost no exterior change whatsoever, because what I have spent my money on, is under the bonnett, something that will give you nightmares...” by this I mean that I have seen a lot of Volkswagens, Fiats, Opels, etc with engines that cause instant goosebumps

Its not all about horse power anymore. Power to weight ratio, aerodynamics and power transfer n distribution including suspension also a big factor today.

Golf R's, at least this generation since it's not with an NA VR6, now I like the VR6 but NA is for the birds. Stock internals can run 10's with turbo upgrade. 9's with a built engine and upgraded transmission assuming it's a DSG.

Sort of apples to oranges, but I absolutely love my Stage 2+ GTI (most power without upgrading turbo). The torque is plentiful, but not too much to just be spinning all day. 10/10 highly recommend.

Golf R's, at least this generation since it's not with an NA VR6, now I like the VR6 but NA is for the birds. Stock internals can run 10's with turbo upgrade. 9's with a built engine and upgraded transmission assuming it's a DSG.
EuroHouse shop already had tune another Golf R with STOCK internal/DSG amd is runing 10.6sec in the 1/4 mile

Sort of apples to oranges, but I absolutely love my Stage 2+ GTI (most power without upgrading turbo). The torque is plentiful, but not too much to just be spinning all day. 10/10 highly recommend.

I have an MK6 - Stage 2+ and it is the perfect daily. Great gas mileage, plenty of room, and it's unassuming so the cops leave me alone.
I don't think it would be spinning all four wheels from a roll, you need a shitload of power to do that
