I remember seeing this car few years ago on UA-cam, I'd be a little nervous about having a Serious Turbo Failure, Those Shafts and Wheels are spinning at some insane rpm,s, If shrapnel gets through the housing, it's right in the Driver's Compartment. I would definitely look into some sort of Ballistic Type Shield, or Wrap, I'm not sure what would be best at containing a serious failure. If it was me, the Turbos wouldn't be sitting next to me.

@@tripprogers4814 You are correct, i didn't think about that, there ain't no way your getting out of that Passenger Side door with those Turbos and Piping blocking the Exit. It looks to be a very Unsafe Set-Up.
This is the worst idea I've seen in a long time. These turbos are known for exploding through the comp housing- Garrett is the only brand that's put serious RnD into containment and guarantee that any failures will be contained within the housing. They run them until failure on a test rig and inspect for damage and redesign as necessary... The number of race cars I've seen destroyed by turbo failures (usually shit hits the fan when shrapnel penetrates the fuel tank or fuel lines). I agree, I wouldn't want to be sitting next to those Precision turbos (one of the most common to fail at this end of motorsport). As for the climbing over the hot turbos if the car gets stuck up against the driver's door on the wall- that gotta be one of the NHRA's issues with it. I bet they weren't happy about the risk to the driver if one were to fail either... On another note, you'd think the hot pipes would damage the plexiglass screen in the rear... The heat wrap on the pipes will contain more heat (obviously) and shoot hotter exhaust out their ends because no heat is lost as the exhaust travels through the pipe... Wonder what plexiglass is rated to heat wise, that could cause a fire in itself

For all stating that turbos wont launch debris...read below or click on link below directly : I made the cylinderhead for this. 1th run it made 7500 rpm . 2th pull BOOM. This turbine wheel dug its way out of the hiusing and cut through 0,3" thick chromemoly. The go pro on 80 frames per second with a field view of 20 yards did not even catch a red stripe. The turbine wheel was luckiky shot into the roof of Ahoy. These run at 100k revs. Resulting in a blade tip speed of about 2000ft per second. Yup..you read that right. As the shielding will try to stop the wheel coming out the inconel turbine wheel will create about 500 hp to 750 hp of cutting force. As the inconel is self hardening when ' cold ' deformed...it doesnt get dull or soft. It keeps cutting. The speed of pièces this wheel was so high ...there werent almost any burrs around the edges of the hole in the hood. Not trying to be the Debbie downer however, the problem is if you get into a wreck and pin the driver's side, it's highly restricted and dangerous to get you out. I do like the fact you think out of the box.

Turbos must not blow up very much in a promod……. Because the diesel truck pulling world seems to blow them up every run and most of the time it explodes the entire front end off. Couldn’t even imagine the devastation to a driver if they seat next to a set of 98’s when they let go
