- Minecraft Monday was one of the most influential weekly esports events of all time, sparking widespread internet memes and causing channels to reach 1 million subscribers. Hosted by Keemstar, host of the internet news show DramaAlert, the event brought together some of the biggest internet personalities to compete for a prize: MrBeast, James Charles, PewDiePie, Ninja, Grandayy, DanTDM, CaptainSparklez, and so many more. The event sparked a lot of drama in its time, but also brought a lot of people together. After 14 weeks worth of competition, the event has come to an end. It doesn't look likely that Minecraft Monday will return. It would be a crime to forget about this tournament and its impact, so today I will be talking about the history of Minecraft Monday.

Callmecarson and Technoblade: the team everyone thought they wanted, but nobody wants to see again
it could have been awesome if carson had played his cards right. if he had actually talked with techno it could have been really funny but the whole soundboard thing just made techno uncomfortable and therefore the whole thing awkward. obviously carson couldn't have known that the joke wouldn't land, but i wish he would have stopped once he realized it wasn't working out.

The entire event after week 1 was just making sure Techno couldn't win without seeming outright unfair so they kept giving him inexperienced and estranged teammates so he can't win. Since TapL was good at MC they didn't let him team with Techno.

Nah I always thought of Keemstar ruining it even before it started. I remember someone telling me about Keemstar running an event back in December 2018. I thought of that as "Improbable" because Keem is very controversial.

The cash prize is there to make it into an "actual" tournament so people would be more interested in it, the money doesn't actually matter competitively.

This genuinely was the event that got so many people (including myself) into his content, as terribly run as this event tended to be, it certainly changed the trajectory of his life and career.

Pineapple Daily I’m a stan of a6d, and he has two ibffs that he would play with a lot, who were also in mcm which are badboyhalo and skeppy. They’re real good friends towards a6d, and it was no surprise to me that skep and bad stuck up for him.

This just kinda proves that Keemstar didn't care and didn't ACTUALLY dedicate time and resources to developing the event. Decision making was lackluster, game roster was erratic and spontaneous, development was practically no existent.

To be honest, while I mostly enjoyed Minecraft Monday’s content, it wasn’t ran very well. That’s why I’m glad there is Minecraft Championship now, although it’s not consistent, you can tell it’s ran by people who care.
Mcc is better MCM imo. MCM is toxic, cheap, so many glitches, and a bunch of drama. Mcc also contains actual Mc players. Just my opinion but Mcc is so much more professional and cares more about the fans.
Yeah, MCMs premise was its downfall; having to accomodate for people who sucked at the game in order to maintain viewership combined with Keemstar being bad at... most things... really took it down
I think it's also cus a good portion of MCM viewers were outsiders from the Minecraft community who just wanted to see big youtubers duke it out and not necessarily watching for the game itself. The other events like MCC and MCU truly are Minecraft events for Minecraft players, both competitive and casual. And it's much less toxic too-only the occasional stan battles that are easily settled in smaller sub-communities.

for the LONGEST time, i wondered how the hell so many bugs and glitches and oversights happened throughout Minecraft Mondays, like Techno being able to go between areas in Build Battles (typically, there are admin-only barrier blocks between areas), xQc building at mid, that one Find The Button where the barriers didn't open correctly...
and then i saw that Keemstar hosted it, and that explained so much.
So really the problem with Minecraft Mondays was the owner, Kemstar.
Imagine being the biggesr YT on earth, playing one of the most famous Minecraft event.

Carson's videos introduced me to so many fantastic UA-camrs like Jschlatt that I never would've found otherwise... He will always have a special place in my heart
Technoblade also didn't find it funny. He ended up muting Carson.
Techno should've told Carson his intentions: "I want to win." and talked to carson about turning off the sound board.
But Carson should have also respected Techno's wishes, as a teammate, and turned off his sound board.
Both ended up having unsportsmanlike coordination, but Techno still had the skill to rise to the top, Carson didn't. So Carson got the brutal end while Techno has the public's sympathy.

PeteZahHutt honestly gained a lot of respect from me, putting his own morals and beliefs over money which he definitely could get had he stayed in the event since he was skilled and was put on good teams. I do not believe that Keemstar is a good person - Pete saw that too and backed down from the event because of it, which honestly makes him an amazing person and actually one of the reasons I'm subbed to him.
