@@Hon_Yo you didn't see the whole stream didn't you? It was specifically shown in Technoblade's stream that you can't even build in middle. Vikkstar used an exploit that allowed him to build in middle. In order words, he cheated. And plus, you don't even need to see the whole stream to get a picture of what's going on. If building in middle is allowed, then why isn't Technoblade building up to get to the players in the skybase? It's because he can't in the first place.

But why would you assume that you're allowed to build in the middle, when you can't, unless you're past the y point where it's disabled? They purposely planned it out knowing you can't build at spawn until you reach a certain height. And this is pvp, so why even build? I would assume that they know as common knowledge.

mameまめ lava turns water into cobble and destroys lily pads. Since techno couldn’t place anything to protect himself, and I assume the border was shrinking, vikk would have stalled him out until he dies because he can’t move/reach water due to both lava and the border.
@@jonathangillooly9361 I thought that was furthest the border could shrink. Also I doubt the lava would reach to the point where it covers the entire area, including all the water. Even if that was true, it doesn't excuse the fact that the OP said that there was no water *at all*

"That shouldn't be a thing" said Vikkstar, skybasing using an exploit and putting lava so he can win with Techno without engaging in a fight. So cowardly.
And it's not like he even would've won either! Lava moves so fucking slowly and it would've been near impossible to kill Techno with this 'strat'. Even if he could corner Techno with the lava, we're talking way too much time slotted to Vik just dumping lava. I don't see what he was thinking. Did he honestly think he could win just by standing up there with one lava bucket? I'm in _absolute_ belief that the admins would've just booted him off the tower or teleported him down after another 10 - 20 minutes of that bullshit.

My favorite part about all this is how little Techno actually knows about current Minecraft. I'm a huge Techno fan and it's hilarious because half of his videos during competitions are, "SINCE WHEN WAS THAT A THING!?!" The man plays 1.8 so he ignores all the updates that happen. Even with the /top, he totally didn't know it was a thing till his partner told him about it while Techno was mining. "What? Why does no one tell me these things????"

Tbh the game could have been fun if vik just went down and played the game properly. Vik bought this on himself for building. If vik didnt build there'd be no skybase for techno to /top to. Also notice how techno didnt stay up in the skybase and abuse the bug like vik (yes I understand techno was in a situation to kill vik easily and vik would find out about /top but still)

Daniel Marquez Techno didnt cheat though. The admins said nothing about using /top. Vik did cheat though, the admins said no skybasing. Also, Vik is a much bigger sweat then techno. Techno doesnt win cause he sweats, he wins because he’s good. Have you seen any of his streams? He is like the most chill person in the entire event. Vik has full serious talk, whereas techno is just talking about random things and having fun. Vik got triggered when he lost but techno laughs. Vik is a much bigger sweat. Even then the whole point of the event is to try and win. What’s the point of playing if you dont win. You cant exactly blame techno for trying to win (especially considering the prize and reputation he has to uphold). If they wanted the event to be more balanced they should’ve invited better people.
@@SpicyBacon they both cheated, I watched all the MMs from techno's perspective, he is a sweat, because he laughs it doesn't make him one, I didn't say vik wasnt, but techno won like the first 3 or something like that, it got boring... The roster had people like James Charles and Mr beast, I wanted them to win or at least anybody else to win, it got boring seeing techno at the top when there were alot of amateur players who consistently came in the lower positions because of techno.

Yes, it might be a bit boring when someone wins over and over, but that's just because they are more suited to win it in that case (Aside from if there are like game breaking things,etc... that cause them to win) but they still get people mad at them because they're winning.
@@Daniel-uz6fc Dude Techno won because he was good at the game and has spent alot of time just playing the game. I've seen some of his streams and some of his VODS and he doesn't behave like a sweat, he gives appropriate effort and doesn't get all mad and steamed when he loses or has people put out "hits" on specifically him (even though the last one is pretty shitty and he could rightfully get mad). Vikk on the other hand and other "small time" UA-camrs can get pretty salty about things and have attempted pretty shitty and toxic things like this before, so id much rather techno blade win 3 plus times than certain other people win once. Also Techno didn't even really cheat here, and this whole situation was really caused by lazy mods who didn't care enough to stop Vikk and others when they should have.

3:35 Bajan, one of the people in charge of making the rules for the game modes, says that building in the middle should not happen, indicating that the plugin should be preventing people from building
While that is true, the reason people were mad at Techno was because Vikk and the others may have been cheating with the skybases but they didn't know they were cheating, no admin up and went "btw, you can't build a skybase" as far as I remember. The main reason people didn't do it all that much wasn't because it went against the rules, but because it was a troll strat. Techno, on the other hand, itentionally used a command that was only supposed to be used to get out of caves if someone is trapped by the zone. If I remember correctly, one of the admins even said so. And yet he intentionally went and used the command. For me, that is the difference, Vikk and the others were unintentionally cheating, while Techno intentionally went and cheated. I'm not saying that people should vilify Techno, this happened months ago now, I'm just sick of people calling Vikk a hypocrite when he didn't even know at the time that he was "technically" cheating.

@@Slqepy The admins were supposed to tp everyone to a level playing field, so everyone would have a decent chance, with Techno using /top, he caught Vikkstar completely off guard and managed to give him 7 hearts of damage! After that, it was basically mop up duty for him. Teleporting is the only form moving that doesn't either cause sound or leave something to be seen, and with Techno teleporting straight onto Vikk, Vikk didn't know he was even there until he was flying off, 7 hearts down. While I do admit that Techno would have probably won either way, the way Techno did it makes it seem cheap, as if he only won that fight because he got the drop on Vikk with the teleport. As I said, this happened months ago, and I mostly don't even care about Techno anymore, I'm just sick and tired of Technofans whining about this and calling Vikk a hypocrite when he wasn't.

Why wouldn't he be mad, he abused a command /top to teleport into an enemies skybase, rather as a way to get back to the surface (intended use) sure they said you can build in the barrier but Vik technically didn't cheat either since he exploited the admins mistake of not walling it completely.

I know this is literal years late but idc. I’m here now and here’s my unwanted two-cents.
I see a lot of people arguing over whether or not techno also cheated. If techno did was morally right. If what Vik did was an exploit or a glitch. Did he cheat or not.
Here’s my case.
First let’s define each key word here
Cheat - Knowingly using ‘illegal’ mechanics, glitches, strategies, or power ups in a game specifically to win. Almost always a negative thing, there are exceptions as there always is, but in this there is no way to argue cheating is a good thing. (Bugs aren’t included as they are normally unpredictable.)
Exploit - Using a bug, glitch, or abusing an in-game mechanic to get an advantage in a game that most likely wasn’t intended by the game designers to gain an advantage. Sometimes exploits aren’t a bad thing, and in this case we’ll see which side this falls under.
Bug - when an intended game mechanics isn’t used properly. example: a boss doesn’t spawned or a game doesn’t save properly
Glitch - when a person is able to see/use/experience an unintended mechanic. Example: when you clip through floors.
Now let’s look over the rule for this specific game.
Skybasing - Vik
1) You can’t build in the middle, if you do your block is deleted and put back in your inventory. That is just a fact. Therefore, without even being told, you can assume that building in the middle is not allowed. It’s *illegal*. A sign that says “Must be 21+ to buy alcohol” at a liquor stores front door. A rule that says “only look at your cards” in a card game. You are not supposed to do it and claiming you didn’t know is admitting your own lack of common sense. Which means, all players who got around this, was by definition cheating.
2) The fact that there is a certain y-limit where you can build in the middle is an oversight by the makers of this game but still wasn’t intended, or meant to be used at all. And most likely this was fixed later on, or everyone was told not to do it again. Which means, in this instance, being able to built a sky base is *a glitch*. Not a bug.
3) this game is a PVP match, and it is in general at the very least considered ill-mannered, rude, and unfair to build a sky-base in a PvP setting in minecraft specifically. This is a community thing mostly. Not a hard set rule, but something to keep in mind.
So, by our previous definitions, and our analysis of the rules, that you can disagree with btw. By abusing this specific glitch, Vik cheated. It was an illegal, and unintended mechanic that was abused in order to not just get an advantage, but to win.
If you don’t agree with me, and consider this an exploit, then this would be a *negative exploit*. As by community standards this is rude, unfair and ill-mannered. It would’ve held up the game, making it boring for viewers.
What Vik did, is essentially, the equivalent of a teenager getting their older brother to buy them a case of beer.
/Top - Technoblade
1) /top is a built in game mechanic and it worked exactly as it was supposed to and there is no reasonable way to make it better. Which means it’s neither a glitch or a bug.
2) there isn’t anything in the rules about how you *cant* use it. Just how you *can* use. Specifically the game says ‘you can use this to get to the highest block’. And nothing more or less.
3) that being said, it’s unsaid main intent is to get out of caves, and most likely all players were told to abuse this in the future after this specific round. Which makes what Technoblade did, an exploit.
So by our predetermined definitions and analysis, Technoblade used an exploit. He abused a built in game mechanic to gain an advantage, but didn’t break any rules, as there was no rule against or for it.
Now whether this is a positive exploit, or negative exploit is... well. It’s very hard to argue this is a negative exploit. You can say two wrongs don’t make a right, but the problem with this argument is that technically Technoblade didn’t do anything wrong. As I said, no rule was broken. This is the equivalent of building an iron farm in minecraft. Or abusing librarian villager trades. But i also can’t find a proper argument to claim this is a positive exploit. So I’ll just leave it at that.
In conclusion. Vik cheated. Techno exploited.
I very much like your analysis here, now, for my two cents, Vikk skybased illegally, preventing anyone else from getting to him, and of course, pointing out that this is PvP, that meant he refused to play by the rules, now, it seems kind of obvious that /top wasn’t originally placed as an anti skybasing command, however, reframing your mindset about this situation would entirely change the perspective on this.
This reframed mindset being, “if they didn’t exploit the no build y limit, would /top still be as bad as it was here?” No, so whether you argue /top is reasonable or Sky basing is reasonable in this scenario as both were exploits, you can’t con one without conning the other or else you just come across as a hypocrite, Obviously one was in the rule book significantly more egregious than the other, but I must ask this to anyone who reads this who would say what Techno did was wrong.
If /top was disabled, what could he do other than lose here?
And would it actually be fair if Vikk was on the ground and Techno skybased and dumped Lava on everyone?
In my opinion the Week 3 Battle dome is the best games in Minecraft Monday from a Technoblade perspective.
