- Minecraft Saturday was a highly influential event for the Minecraft community, bringing together UA-camrs and streamers from all of its little subcommunities. It began as the Minecraft community was getting sick and tired of the failures of another event, Minecraft Monday. By all means, Minecraft Saturday was a more optimized version of Minecraft Monday event--which was what led to its rise and downfall. The event began in November, took a break for all of December, resumed in January, and finished on February first. This gave it a total lifespan of 7 competitions.
As Minecraft Saturdays were first announced, there were many in the Minecraft community who saw it as the future of Minecraft events. The whole operation eventually came to an end, however. On the internet, nothing can last forever and it was only a matter of time before we’d see the end.
With all that, you might be wondering:
- Why did so many people turn against Minecraft Monday?
- What happened during the course of it’s run?
- What led to the downfall?
We’ll get into all that and more in the Rise and Fall of MCS.

Great video mate, I think this about captured pretty much everything I could've hoped to be said, minus a few exceptions. As the organizer, I'd like to provide clarity on a few details!
First up, mc championships. I just wanna get it out of the way that MCC was and is WAY better than Minecraft Saturdays ever could've been. My interpretation of the minigame format was to just take the same format and make it better. They changed it wildly in a lot of really cool ways, and it ended up 100x more creative and much less stressful, as techno put it, to play. I have nothing but love for the organizers of that event, and there was never any envy or bitterness on my part toward it.
I'd also like to say as a disclaimer that the biggest issue with MCS in every way was that it was someone else's format. I'm not very proud of MCS in full transparency. I'd even go as far as to say it's one of my least favorite events I've organized - and I've been doing them since 2013. Nothing sucks worse than considering yourself a creative person, and then realizing you've stolen ideas. Say what you like about Keemstar, but for what it's worth I do feel bad for effectively taking his intellectual property.
But in other news, my new event should be really dope. It's a concept I thought about for years, and finally got started working on back in January, and now it's set to be the biggest thing anyone in this community has ever done. Really excited for it. Anyway, if anyone has any questions for me, I'll be replying to comments here. Feel free to ask stuff.

@@jonathandeman9051 First up, it's going to be every month or two, seasonally like Winner Takes All. The first season's date is set but not yet confirmed. I also can't confirm specific roster members because that'd ruin the excitement of the reveals! They'll both be coming relatively soon though :)
How PvP vs. Non-PvP will it be? I know my favorite viewing experience out of anything in any tournament was the Survival games in McM, second only to bingo in MCC, when Techno turned a pve game into a pvp game. I'm always excited to see people's skills on display, even if theres some RNG in the mix for excitement
@@aetherius6221 Most of the roster isn't very PvP oriented, but a fair amount of players involved are! I'm trying to keep the interesting enjoyment of combat while also preventing anything from being too unbalanced toward the more skilled players. You should see a lot of fun and intense fights in the event. It is solely Hunger Games after all, so combat will be very important!
@@skyvenom9123 It's absolutely nothing like any other event that's been done before. It has a few little details in common with my previous event Winner Takes All which is likely the most similar, but all around it's a very new concept.

For those of you that don't know of Philza and his "hardcore death", the dude had been building a world for 5 years. He had some massive ass builds (that he later went back and showed in spectator mode on his YT channel). He made a lot of headlines for dying after 5 years, which gave both him and the game some news traction.

keemstar, a 40 y.o. dude that causes drama for no reason still has beef with a6d, a 18 y.o. french dude who just wants to play minecraft with his friends. at the end of the day mc monday was supposed to be fun but keemstar had to do what he did. i'm 100% on a6d's side

Nice video, but you forgot to mention MCU (Minecraft Ultimate) aka the continuation/Sequel of MCS. It was announced the same day that final tweet from the MCS twitter was posted (the one that announced MCS was ending). It happened on the discord (Where pikaclicks answered questions from fans in a massive VC) and right now is confirmed to be a Hunger games tournament with over 300 players playing (Wow).

The real reason mc Saturday's closed down is because the sponsors pulled out. Look at how the prize pool and sponsorships diminished towards the later weeks. Now it's possible that the organisers just told the sponsors ahead of time that they would be shutting down, but the fact that it happened so suddenly and out of nowhere makes me think otherwise. Mc Saturday's failed cause it was boring and nobody watched it compared to its hype. The fact that mc Monday went months without really losing most of its popularity is INSANE

I never got to watch MC Saturdays due to being in the mental hospital but I'm so proud of the team that created it; it looked like it would've been fun to watch in live time and feel the excitement that the community had. GG.

i really like the people behind mcsaturdays. they seemed to have a lot of respect for the players and audience, as well as a lot of integrity. it’s too bad it couldn’t last longer.
i really loved watching these mc tournaments, that coming from someone who normally isn’t a fan of watching full streams and vods. i hope mc champions lasts, or maybe mcmondays comes back and adapts some of the practices that mcsaturdays.
all in all, this was a very well researched video, it certainly made me miss those old mc tournaments.

what i'm happy about mc saturday is the fact that it accept not limited youtuber/twitch streamer ,like it accept low view youtuber or even other country youtuber (guep,theguille the french youtuber i love) and the minigame are pretty cool too
I slightly but barely remember this when it was running but I think I remember techno playing it once but I never saw it get anywhere close to how popular MC Monday was.

Saw this in my reccomend and btw didnt know who you were and honestly loved watching this deffo getting a sub out of me
I kinda want a type of Minecraft Monday but no teams, what I mean by this is for example: dantdm vs Skeppy, they fight in some random minigame and the winner moves on to the next round while the other is eliminated, maybe the final 10 will have to survive the eliminated for a certain amount of time or a special gamemode and the final 4 will fight in one gamemode, something like that.
Edit: and instead of weekly it would be yearly, then the tournaments would be a bit better since they have time
I do have to say that a6d’s friend group is very loyal to have all of them give up chances for money to support him

I have a feeling the same is gonna happen to Minecraft Championships. As Zyphon said, nothing lasts forever. And these championships do seem to take a lot to organize.
I'd say the big difference is that the Noxcrew guys have been doing these kinds of things for like 8 years.

I knew about minecraft monday but i didnt know that minecraft saturday exists
while minecraft mondays was a much poorly designed and directed event than minecraft saturdays, the one thing it had over minecraft saturdays was the players.
while minecraft saturdays was pretty much made of the hypixel/smp earth community, minecraft mondays had the biggest creators from the entire community

Having a few great players with a few occasional surprises actually made the competition better for mc Mondays, since the rivalry is stronger. Mc Saturdays didnt have this. Everybody was too friendly and there were too many contenders. How can you gaina following if a different person wins every week?
true, MCS kind of consisted of "i don't care who wins! i just hope everyone has a great time" while MCM was made of people from entirely different communities and entirely different personalities who all wanted to win.
