Honestly the idea of a Chainsaw Man is so outlandishly metal that I'm surprised nobody in the early 2000s came up with such an idea.
Someone did exactly that - Fujimoto pretty much yoinked the design from a minor villain in Soul Eater, and made it more interesting by adding the face-saw and moving the ripcord from leg to heart. The design of the hand and foot saw are basically the same as Ohkubo's character.
Why 2000s? Sounds more like an 80s movie.

I really like the planning of this trailer, the quietness with short glitches, not too much action, contrasting the 2 sides of chill and crazy, even the sound design perfectly fits what's happening

@@a.l.macdonald8071 But if you think about it, a chainsaw when activated is basically a sword that has an additional ripping feature. Assuming you can hold and use a chainsaw the same as a sword. You can already see blood and guts spilling everywhere in the last part of the trailer which would not be the case if a sword was used

I love this trailer. It starts off with a suppressed past. Then cuts to a normal fantasy. Interrupted by an ugly reality. And finished by the cruel present.
I watched Chainsaw Man today. Even though there's only one episode released, I wasn't disappointed. Even the ending song is incredibly metal too.

This is one of the very few animes where I hope they nail the sound engineering. If they do, it will add a whole lot more emotion and rawness to the anime!

This has got to be one of the most well designed trailers. It represents the quality of art that will be seen in the anime unlike many trailers, music is intense and matches the theme, it keeps viewers hyped even after watching the trailer multiple times, and most of all keeps the viewer with many unanswered questions to pull them in and watch the anime. 10 out of 10, am excided to watch when it's released!
Edit for those wondering about the animation quailty: After some research, I found that the pv was animated by the same people that will be animating the show, so what I said above is half true; That's by bad. Even so, I have no worries because of the highly well-known, talented, and hardworking team. The animation will no doubt be amazing. Staff list can be found below...

This was the most hyped a trailer has ever made me for anything. Even though when I first saw it I hadn’t read Chainsaw Man, and was only vaguely familiar with it. Now that I’ve read it though I CANNOT wait. This is going to make one hell of an impact.

That's how all trailers should be done. Got me interested without spoiling pretty much anything. Looks like MAPPA will do a good job with this anime. Especially after seeing JJK. The Todou and Yuji vs Hanami fight is so well animated, choreographed and directed. Good sound design and very well-placed soundtracks. This anime is going to be a highlight for sure

There has been a new studio founded which is paying the animators very well.
