blacksmith here, if anyone was interested, one of the reasons the blade snapped, was due to quenching in water. 1084 is an oil quenching steel, and since water cools the steel significantly faster than oil, this makes the post-quench grain structure much smaller and the steel becomes more brittle. the rapid and inconsistant shrinking of the steel also likely introduced microfractures which certainly won't have helped.

Gunswords actually exsisted in history, mostly back when guns had one shot and a slow reload. Unfortunately, such weapons performed worse as swords and pistols. Axe pistols were a bit better, as you could fit a longer barrel and use it two-handed more comfortably. Still, it was generally better to carry two weapons instead.

16:11 the inertia from the hit made the cans lean on their edges -- combined with his probably slightly upwards horizontal swing, it gives the illusion of cutting upwards on each can was cut diagonally upwards
Creative, but incorrect. Turn each can 90 degrees clockwise then the cuts all line up, high side towards the person swinging, low side away from the person swinging. Consider the person swinging was higher than the cans and the downward angle makes sense. This can be confirmed at 15:58 using the barcode as your reference point compared to the orientation of the cans at 16:16 You're welcome.
10:30 I don't know which is worse, the canisters of something flammable threatening to catch a stray spark if the grinder is turned 20 degrees or so, or the dog food bowl that is definitely catching all of the metal dust as-is.

That's not what happened. the end of the blade was lower than the handle where he was holding it. the tip almost slid across the table but his hand was a couple inches above the table making the angle in the cans
@@QQnowQQlater yeah, two words would suffice: domino inertia

Didn't expect a star rail sponsor here of all places, definitely a welcome surprise concidering i both play star rail and watch this channel.

6:58 you can tell they gave him no creative freedom for this
I was just about to say that
He so obviously has no interest in it
No creative freedom or no desire to act on that freedom when the whole video is already you flexing that ad freedom lol. Either way tho yeah I laughed at how quickly he blitzed through reading some of that because he was probably like "Oh yeah I forgot I need to do the ad read too. Fuck."
Actually they do give you creative freedom to talk about it, but they also give you something to read off if you don't care enough or can't come up with a read off yourself around the guidelines
Well they did let him get stripper cops to arrest him while laughing
tbh i’m so for this like take the sponsor money-get your bag and give us an insane video from it, but do it sarcastically.
16:59 not even a nerf gun?
Considering the police got involved with the tampon gun, no.
Ya, you can't even own airsoft guns in Australia so that might be a little too much for those guys.
@Finn-ev2lx cap guns are a steep ask. They contain an explosive device in those little red caps.
If you ask the Australian government, they're classed the same as Semtex.

By the looks of that pool I'd be more worried about meningitis 😂
@@jackryan444just a heads up, while YES salinated pool filter has LESS chlorine it still has chlorine. The salt is what is used to generate the chlorine with electrolysis. So while it’s not blasted with the same pucks or dust buckets of chlorine; it’s still absolutely in there.

Like every idat video, entertaining jokes and genuinely interesting crafting from start to finish. There's a special charm about the homebrew version that gets slapped together in a garage, but it was also really cool to see Keith forge up a new one in record time. The coloring laser was fascinating and the sword itself turned out incredible, even the clashing shades of blue ended up looking like part of the design with the perfect placement of it. As a lucky Feixiao haver who was playing Star Rail when the video dropped, you did a pretty damn good job.

As a wise handyman once said... "I've watched ALOT of anime and trust me, your gonna want gunswords."

This can be confirmed at 15:58 using the barcode as your reference point compared to the orientation of the cans at 16:16

The beer cans were sliced sideways because they tilted to the side when they were hit but the swing would have been fairly straight, so cut across each of them starting at the same low point but ending at the same height, just higher on the can since it was tipped over a bit.
