  • back in Hong Kong. it's not christmas yet. we don't really celebrate honestly. im sick rn. snapshots of some stuff. mild 王家衛 parody disguised as editing practice. a short film if you squint hard enough
    stole Astor Piazzolla's Prologue (Tango Apasionado) when i saw it in Happy Together 春光乍洩 (1997) . can you guess what my favorite wong kar wai film is
    a stream of consciousness really of everything that's happened. a semi-pretentious vlog if you will. gonna pump out more of these if i decide not to do my 5 thousand word assignment.
    films in order (what i watched recently):
    different for girls (1996) hi rupert graves
    boy (2010)
    happy together (1997) (of course)
    D.E.B.S. (2004) you know what i am
    in & out (1997)
    the social network (2010)
    the private life of sherlock holmes (1970) . superior version
    in the mood for love (2000)
    butch cassidy and the sundance kid (1969) haha nice
    wilde (1997)
    thelma and louise (1991) starsky and hutch type beat
    clueless (1995)
    heat (1995) !!!
    bound (1996) yeah lol
    my dinner with andre (1981)
    the royal tenenbaums (2001)
    zoolander (2001) MR WILSON..
    maurice (1987) the movie ever. the book ever. the thing ever hi rupert graves. the hugh grant censorship was not intentional
    hi. welcome. i am doing things here or something. i make music and film and art and cry about it. owen wilson raised me. wong kar wai cinematography idiot. joining like 4 film festivals next year + 1 assignment of film project. wish me luck

    wow. so i wasn't expecting this many people to see my frankly uneventful holiday slash editing practice, but the algo went wild lol. thanks for stopping by!

    Definitely some wong kar-wai vibes 😌one lil bit of feedback I would give is the subtitles/written parts felt a bit rushed. would have been easier to read them if they lingered just a bit longer!

    really liked it, really beautiful photography and overall super well made, except for the text slides that at least for me were shown a bit too shortly, I had to paus to really take in what you wrote! I get the flashy, nostalgic (and esthetic) vibe that you're going for but it wouldn't lose that just by showing the text for a little longer :)

    Can you teach me your color grading

    • @sal_alembroke
      @sal_alembroke  Рік тому +2

      sure! I use premiere pro for that (and a lot of experimenting too - I go for that film effect so the level of grading depends on the footage.) I usually push up the temperature and down for the tint (bringing out greens and yellows), turn down the contrast & saturation & highlights and play with the color curves. the green curve is an S shape so they pop off more, while I curve up the red nearer the bottom, and compress the blues. once again, it's dependent on footage, but adding noise & subtle chromatic aberration also add to it :) it's hard to describe here but lmk if u wanna know anything specific!

    • @sal_alembroke
      @sal_alembroke  Рік тому +1

      oh and for the shadows / highlights I usually go for orangish-yellow and green on the palette respectively, again it's so reliant on what the color is like on your video. footage under sunset type lighting minimizes any grading at all (besides the green tint) but most need specific color grading; the "comparison view" option on premiere pro lumetri color allows u to auto match the color grading of an existing photo onto your footage, so you can do that too!

      I use a nikon coolpix b500 (which isn't too good quality but suits this look?), and sometimes my phone (Samsung A32 - also not that good of a camera lol).. I had to edit & color grade quite a bit tho

    How does one speedrun wikipedia? It’s not like there’s an ending, or a beginning for that matter. What does this mean

    • @ambersunn
      @ambersunn 2 роки тому

      basically we're given 2 pages, and go from the first wikipedia page and navigate to the second through only the links within the pages. wikispeedruns.com/ is how we did it
