Anastesia: Anestesia numbs you of your awareness of pain so he calls it that because he can pierce through you by phasing his sword with kroom. The overlapping of the kroom with ur body weakens it and Shockwave is a surgery treatment so he blows your organs from the inside out. Maybe his awakened fruit gives him the ability to perform the eternal youth surgery. His awakening his him going from basic doctoring to a surgery so his attacks are more lethal as the risk with a surgery is more than a basic treatment.
Study medicine, can confirm this. Adding on, I don't think people realize how dangerous Anesthesia actually is. I would estimate that Anesthesia is about as close to death as one can actually be, consistently, without dying (usually).
I feel like after this chapter we should give more respect to characters like doffy and katakuri who we’re able to use their awakening abilities without much problem

This chapter made me think Kuma probably awakened his fruit. Like being able to push pain and fatigue out of someone definitely seems like an awakened ability.

Law had better abilities with his fruit than Doffy though. He was doing internal destruction from Dressrosa meaning he had the best chance against a Yonko even then .
Law didn't defeat Big Mam though until we see Kidd dissembling powers plus what he took from Big Mam I don't think we are getting any conclusion to the fight yet

Hello Sawyer, one think I found interesting that in punk hazard when they put all the kinsmen pieces together they do it without laws help so it technically could be that kinsmen was never solid and so he still can reattach himself and get cut up. But I'm not sure if I'm correct. Hope you see this
Its crazy how easy Doffy and Katakuri were using their awakenings with no drawbacks. Can't wait to see where Law and Kid will be with more training. Same goes for Luffy eventually

I don't understand how hurtling steel beams is gonna hurt Big Mom, it's so underwhelming I want to feel hyped for Kidd but it's just lame. It's almost nothing different from what he usually does, instead of Repel he just magnetized her so that she attracts. I hope he picks up that giant Katana at the entrance of Onigashima and impales her with it, that will definitely redeem Kidd's offensive prowess cause his endurance and strategies so far are satisfactory.
Didn't you watch the video? Not only is electro-magnetism one of the great powers of the universe according to physics, if his power gets too powerful he could pull the giant sword outside onigashima onto Big Mom and cause serious damage.

It's clear that steel beams & metal are getting repelled at Big Mom with enough force to damage her. Her skin is tough, but It's durability is not infinite. It's also an unavoidable attack for 99% of characters. Which hurts more, getting hit by something going at 40 mph, or getting hit by something going at the speed of sound?
The main problem I have with this "war" is the protagonist getting infinite chances to get right back up when every one of the big hitter supernova have all sustained MAJOR damage from actual Yonkos and always get back up with a new ability to do more damage. Luffy has been knocked out how many times now and can get back up with virtually no stamina lost and Kaido is starting to show signs of wear and tear before him. Lidd and Law constantly tanking attacks and just now pulling new abilities out of their ass, setting up Luffy with a 100% chance of awakening to defeat Kaido because he can't be behind them 2 in any way. And you know the first time Big Mum or Kaido goes down, they will not be getting back up to get another shot. Hopefully Oda is writing all these obvious plot points that benefit from Kaido losing as a way for a major subversion of expectations.
This is literally nothing new. Luffy also ate and had a little time to rest. Kidd and laws awakenings could have been handled better but oda only has so much time for set up when we are at chapter 1030.
I don't think Luffy will fall behind even he doesn't awaken in this arc since he got advanced conqueror haki and the other 2 don't have it, actually I don't think he'll get an awakening this arc since he got a major power up and he needs to master that new power first before getting a new one

I love Law's and Kid's awakenings, they're busted, but the only thing is that it seems so random and out of no where. We still don't even have a slight clue on how exactly Devil fruits awaken in the first place. I hope Oda explains it next chapter so we have some sort of knowledge on what they did to do so.
When Oda decides to explain awakenings would be around the time Luffy gets to awaken his. This Gomu Gomu fruit is way more important than what meets the eyes as we learned, and if Oda legit decided to make it the last power up for Luffy, then we're in for a treat at least more entertaining than advanced Conqueror's.
Maybe it works like in MHA, where they unlock it in very stressful and life-threatening situations. After all, Kid once fought against one of Big Mom's commanders, and lost his arm against Shanks.

From what I understand, you need to be really experienced at using your devil fruit and the longer you have your devil fruit, the more likely you are to unlock awakening.
I've said it a while ago and it seems everything is really going into the direction that Luffy's awakened ability will save Wano from the falling Onigashima
Although I really dont like Oda blueballing us with Kinemon's, Kiku's and Kanjuro's death, the fact that he pulls Usopp away and creates this new enemy in kazenbo somehow increases the tension and stakes. You have all these characters that don't have a specific purpose for now, and it adds so much to the chaos of the Raid.
What tension? The kinemon bs of this chapter pretty much confirms that the alliance will come out of this battle without deaths. Where is the tension when we already know that the worst that can happen to the allies is getting wounded.
We just got fking Slime v2.0 and you're talking about increase of tension and stakes. I hope that shit gets handled fast because last thing I want is an arc like PH where they do nothing but run away for god knows how many chapters.
Seriously why do people need death to make tension instead of the the situations and possibilities of death. Oda kills when the characters is done and completed everything. Kin’emon needs to see the war through however long he can it’s not like what happened to had zero effect because he did got stabbed and bleeding out.
I'd almost believe that the fact that people don't (usually) die was purposeful- as if Oda was indirectly hinting at his whole story being a romantic dream of sorts.
Well in skypeia the arc was always talking about the romanticism of dreams, and I think it is what Oda is all about. Just showing life can be hard but if you keep working towards something you’ll have fun too

I think it has to be dependent on the individual df, not the whole category. Its miscellaneous. Luffy could still call his awakening Gear 5. Remember the whole premise of Gears is that Luffy does something new with his powers. Awakening would be new too. Law called his Kroom so it's different and works different than a regular Room. Kidd didn't name his... but his just magnetizes things anyway.... :P

As a person who follows One Piece weekly since Little Garden, I never minded some of the fake outs, until Wano! Usually we get 1 or 2 fake outs, but this arc had 6 of them so far and that is just too much and it really lowered the arc for me, and maybe even ruined the concept of death in the series in my eyes because from now on, no matter how realistic the death will look or even if it will end up being real, because I will always think it is fake, maybe even if it’s a stab to the heart or a neck or head slice... For me the Wano arc is an arc with some great concepts and at least 15 out of the top 50 greatest moments in the all series!! But also with a lot of flaws. Hunter X Hunter is my Second favourite anime and kinda close to One Piece which is still my favourite anime in spite of the lack of deaths, but Until Wano it wasn’t even a competition between the two and One Piece was WAY above there.
Im glad we are still able to put this above other anime even with what is seen as flaws we have to trust the author he has got us this far right? I'm sure the war arc about to explode after this with the revolutionaries and straw hat alliance all this will pay off.

I am pretty sure Blackbeard was referring to how his Devil Fruit works more like a controllable blackhole. In that it has a large gravitational pull of it's own where nothing escapes. Especially since Admiral Fujigoro has the defacto Gravity Devil Fruit. Also if Yamato is headed towards the basement where weapon cache is, then isn't she eventually collide with fire yokai that Janjuro made. Plus I don't know how, (probably thanks to Ussoo reuniting his lower half), but I feel Kinemon will be the one to stop it with his Firefox slash technique.

I'm not crazy about the fake-out deaths but I was never *really* convinced that any of them were actually gone. Kin'emon is a character who I think *will* die but that Oda wants to focus on more on that moment/have certain characters present for it, Kiku I never thought was going to die here (I've always thought Oda would bait-and-switch us by sparing her and killing off *Izo* instead), and then Kanjuro I've always been on the fence about, since his ability doesn't feel fully explored currently in my opinion.

Thats what I'm curious about. Because logically Kidd's Awakening allowing him to magnetise things other than himself is the most likely option for him, it always has been. But I never expected him to be able to directly magnetise PEOPLE. (I was picturing more like Shiki's abilities, where he would manipulate everything around him in clever ways) Because then he should be able to attract/repel/compress them like he does with other magnetic objects, or otherwise just manipulate them freely. Like, could he just twirl his finger around and spin Big Mom around at mach speed? Can her force choke her and crush her, like he does when he manipulates his metal into usable shapes? Can he just send her flying off the island fast and far enough that it will take her time to get back? Or can he just send her flying INTO the castle and let the living super magnet tear the entire thing apart as it clings onto her, making more and more pressure crushing her, making it more likely she gets legitimately injured by this whole ordeal? Kidds powers are potentially busted af. Even with whatever restrictions Oda places on them.
Kidd's attack reminded me of a chibaku tensei this chapter. With enough metal could he jist suffocate BM with all the metal that's pilling up on her, could he crush her like a hydrolic press? And if Kidd can magnetize anything, could he magnetize his ship and just fly around the new world instead of sailing on the seas? Kidd pretty much has telekinesis if this awakening allows him to freely control the magnetized object.
The 2 CP0 member are related to robin (the leader) and brook (the tall guy). Law's new move "Krum" is named after a Bulgarian king who killed a Byzantine Emperor and turned his skull into a drinking cup in 811.
It's fitting that Law and Kid awaken their devil fruits on the same week as Sawyer awakens his editing abilities.

Hello Sawyer, one think I found interesting that in punk hazard when they put all the kinsmen pieces together they do it without laws help so it technically could be that kinsmen was never solid and so he still can reattach himself and get cut up. But I'm not sure if I'm correct. Hope you see this
Its crazy how easy Doffy and Katakuri were using their awakenings with no drawbacks. Can't wait to see where Law and Kid will be with more training. Same goes for Luffy eventually

I don't understand how hurtling steel beams is gonna hurt Big Mom, it's so underwhelming I want to feel hyped for Kidd but it's just lame. It's almost nothing different from what he usually does, instead of Repel he just magnetized her so that she attracts.
I hope he picks up that giant Katana at the entrance of Onigashima and impales her with it, that will definitely redeem Kidd's offensive prowess cause his endurance and strategies so far are satisfactory.

Didn't you watch the video? Not only is electro-magnetism one of the great powers of the universe according to physics, if his power gets too powerful he could pull the giant sword outside onigashima onto Big Mom and cause serious damage.

It's clear that steel beams & metal are getting repelled at Big Mom with enough force to damage her. Her skin is tough, but It's durability is not infinite. It's also an unavoidable attack for 99% of characters.
Which hurts more, getting hit by something going at 40 mph, or getting hit by something going at the speed of sound?
The main problem I have with this "war" is the protagonist getting infinite chances to get right back up when every one of the big hitter supernova have all sustained MAJOR damage from actual Yonkos and always get back up with a new ability to do more damage. Luffy has been knocked out how many times now and can get back up with virtually no stamina lost and Kaido is starting to show signs of wear and tear before him. Lidd and Law constantly tanking attacks and just now pulling new abilities out of their ass, setting up Luffy with a 100% chance of awakening to defeat Kaido because he can't be behind them 2 in any way. And you know the first time Big Mum or Kaido goes down, they will not be getting back up to get another shot. Hopefully Oda is writing all these obvious plot points that benefit from Kaido losing as a way for a major subversion of expectations.

This is literally nothing new. Luffy also ate and had a little time to rest. Kidd and laws awakenings could have been handled better but oda only has so much time for set up when we are at chapter 1030.

I don't think Luffy will fall behind even he doesn't awaken in this arc since he got advanced conqueror haki and the other 2 don't have it, actually I don't think he'll get an awakening this arc since he got a major power up and he needs to master that new power first before getting a new one

But now when everything's falling apart and it looks like Kaido might actually lose, Apoop decides NOW is the time to betray Kaido?

Having said that , I believe what law means is when he uses his awakening powers he would do so as a last resort or only if it can assure victory because using this amount of energy could leave him unable to fight... That makes more sense right?

I love Law's and Kid's awakenings, they're busted, but the only thing is that it seems so random and out of no where. We still don't even have a slight clue on how exactly Devil fruits awaken in the first place. I hope Oda explains it next chapter so we have some sort of knowledge on what they did to do so.
When Oda decides to explain awakenings would be around the time Luffy gets to awaken his.
This Gomu Gomu fruit is way more important than what meets the eyes as we learned, and if Oda legit decided to make it the last power up for Luffy, then we're in for a treat at least more entertaining than advanced Conqueror's.
What happened here is known as an "Asspull"
Maybe it works like in MHA, where they unlock it in very stressful and life-threatening situations. After all, Kid once fought against one of Big Mom's commanders, and lost his arm against Shanks.
Tbh I thought Kidd's dissembling powers he hinted at was his awakening however Law awakening is an asspull for sure since he never shown it against Doflamingo
From what I understand, you need to be really experienced at using your devil fruit and the longer you have your devil fruit, the more likely you are to unlock awakening.

Law's Awakening is perfect for a doctor granting a nonlethal surgery procedure and then full access to working on the inside of the victim.
Although I really dont like Oda blueballing us with Kinemon's, Kiku's and Kanjuro's death, the fact that he pulls Usopp away and creates this new enemy in kazenbo somehow increases the tension and stakes. You have all these characters that don't have a specific purpose for now, and it adds so much to the chaos of the Raid.
What tension? The kinemon bs of this chapter pretty much confirms that the alliance will come out of this battle without deaths. Where is the tension when we already know that the worst that can happen to the allies is getting wounded.

Seriously why do people need death to make tension instead of the the situations and possibilities of death. Oda kills when the characters is done and completed everything. Kin’emon needs to see the war through however long he can it’s not like what happened to had zero effect because he did got stabbed and bleeding out.
I'd almost believe that the fact that people don't (usually) die was purposeful- as if Oda was indirectly hinting at his whole story being a romantic dream of sorts.
Well in skypeia the arc was always talking about the romanticism of dreams, and I think it is what Oda is all about. Just showing life can be hard but if you keep working towards something you’ll have fun too

@14:45 My theory about awakening. Paramecia is too broad a category to limit it to just "effecting things outside the user", especially when awakened Logias do that. I think it has to be dependent on the individual df, not the whole category. Its miscellaneous. It can be either similar to Logia or Zoan awakening. *I think Luffy's base stats increasing is way better than Luffy making other things stretch*

As a person who follows One Piece weekly since Little Garden, I never minded some of the fake outs, until Wano! Usually we get 1 or 2 fake outs, but this arc had 6 of them so far and that is just too much and it really lowered the arc for me, and maybe even ruined the concept of death in the series in my eyes because from now on, no matter how realistic the death will look or even if it will end up being real, because I will always think it is fake, maybe even if it’s a stab to the heart or a neck or head slice... For me the Wano arc is an arc with some great concepts and at least 15 out of the top 50 greatest moments in the all series!! But also with a lot of flaws. Hunter X Hunter is my Second favourite anime and kinda close to One Piece which is still my favourite anime in spite of the lack of deaths, but Until Wano it wasn’t even a competition between the two and One Piece was WAY above there.
Im glad we are still able to put this above other anime even with what is seen as flaws we have to trust the author he has got us this far right? I'm sure the war arc about to explode after this with the revolutionaries and straw hat alliance all this will pay off.

I am pretty sure Blackbeard was referring to how his Devil Fruit works more like a controllable blackhole. In that it has a large gravitational pull of it's own where nothing escapes. Especially since Admiral Fujigoro has the defacto Gravity Devil Fruit. Also if Yamato is headed towards the basement where weapon cache is, then isn't she eventually collide with fire yokai that Janjuro made. Plus I don't know how, (probably thanks to Ussoo reuniting his lower half), but I feel Kinemon will be the one to stop it with his Firefox slash technique.

If you dont wanna kill a character dont kill then, but he destroys the drama and the tension of the narrative bringing characters back, HE MADE IT 6 TIMES IN THE SAME ACT. Like you said, two fucking yonkou, YONKOU, claiming the ancient weapons for them, the fire on onigashima, the fear of a big explosion and KINEMON is farting in the climax. Villains that cant kill a single char. What kind of tension should we get for the straw hats ?

@@kollen5952 one piece has always been like this. Nothing changed. And imo One Piece is great. It's really well written with a lot of great characters, worldbuilding, foreshadowing etc. Of course it's not perfect, but it's still pretty damn good, despite fakeout deaths.

Great review. Only part I balked at was the idea that the fiery last gasp ghost thingy and Yamato and her ice powers weren't going to meet. That one seems like a no brainer to me. Beyond that I too hope for a shiny Ussopp moment and one for Brook as well. And yeah, Luffy's awakening is incoming.
With Kid and Law now having Awakening, and us knowing that Luffy is never far behind them if at all, what if Momonosuke can't get enough clouds in time or they are to small, and Onigashima begins falling just in time for Luffy to discover his Awakening, and Onigashima bounces off of the Flower Capital, specifically the huge vine tree?

I'm not crazy about the fake-out deaths but I was never *really* convinced that any of them were actually gone. Kin'emon is a character who I think *will* die but that Oda wants to focus on more on that moment/have certain characters present for it, Kiku I never thought was going to die here (I've always thought Oda would bait-and-switch us by sparing her and killing off *Izo* instead), and then Kanjuro I've always been on the fence about, since his ability doesn't feel fully explored currently in my opinion.

With Kid’s awakening if he makes you the target of magnetism and he himself still controls magnetism couldn’t he control his opponent? If so that’s broken as hell
Thats what I'm curious about. Because logically Kidd's Awakening allowing him to magnetise things other than himself is the most likely option for him, it always has been. But I never expected him to be able to directly magnetise PEOPLE. (I was picturing more like Shiki's abilities, where he would manipulate everything around him in clever ways) Because then he should be able to attract/repel/compress them like he does with other magnetic objects, or otherwise just manipulate them freely.
Like, could he just twirl his finger around and spin Big Mom around at mach speed? Can her force choke her and crush her, like he does when he manipulates his metal into usable shapes? Can he just send her flying off the island fast and far enough that it will take her time to get back? Or can he just send her flying INTO the castle and let the living super magnet tear the entire thing apart as it clings onto her, making more and more pressure crushing her, making it more likely she gets legitimately injured by this whole ordeal?
Kidds powers are potentially busted af. Even with whatever restrictions Oda places on them.
Kidd's attack reminded me of a chibaku tensei this chapter. With enough metal could he jist suffocate BM with all the metal that's pilling up on her, could he crush her like a hydrolic press? And if Kidd can magnetize anything, could he magnetize his ship and just fly around the new world instead of sailing on the seas? Kidd pretty much has telekinesis if this awakening allows him to freely control the magnetized object.
Also I thought his dissembling powers were his awakening honestly cause that sounds like the most hax power
If oda gave Kidd arment haki or kings advanced as well even his normal metal punches would be so much more devastating
