- Fallout 4 - The Glowing Sea - All Companions Comments, Thoughts and Reactions
The Glowing Sea is a location - map area containing several locations in the Commonwealth in Fallout 4.
At the center of the Glowing Sea is a settlement the Crater of Atom, inhabited by humans from the Church of the Children of Atom. The sickly greenish-yellow glow emitting from the crater can be seen from far across the Commonwealth. Southwest of the Glowing Sea, is also the Rocky Cave, inhabited by Virgil.
The Glowing Sea is extremely dangerous, and should not be explored at lower levels or without adequate supplies and protection. The entirety of the Glowing Sea is heavily irradiated. To survive, one should bring along an ample supply of RadAway and Rad-X. Further protection can be achieved by wearing rad-resistant armor, such as power armor or a hazmat suit.
More dangerous than the radiation is the local wildlife, as only the hardiest creatures can survive here: packs of deathclaws, radscorpions, and mutant insects such as bloodbugs and stingwings roam the wastes attacking anything in their path.

I watched this on 0.75 speed without realizing and was confused why codsworth sounded drunk
codsworth system was taking a serious hit by radiation (translation: ass pull explaination)
Brilliant.
i am sorry for trying to pull a sensable explaination out of my ass
Listen to X6 in 0.75 its so funny!
It sounds even better at 0.5 and even better at 0.25
"I think I just heard my rad counter cry for mercy."
"I have a feeling whoever named this place didn't have a firm grasp on the meaning of the word "sea""
goddamnit, nick. I love this guy.
Nick is the only synth I consider to actually not be an abomination. He's too real and funny, well at least the personality programmed in him is but still.
@@blackirontarkus3156 he developed feelings, he was able to learn and love that's the reason why his synths were so good at blending in, they learned they were basically Chappie they were exactly like us
"This place looks like someone extinguished hell" how could you possibly forget that one
Rick Sanchez like detroit and the deviants
This is why Nick is one of my favorite companions
Preston: We better get out of here soon, there arent any settlements in here that need our help.
Phoenix Wright yess! Ha ha ha🤣
Phoenix Wright
Children of atom?
I got the joke.
So true but funny at the same time!
Sole Survivor: Exactly.
Im tired of settlements jokes but this was funny
Hancock: ''You know what the glowing sea needs? A bar. Badly.
Hahahha best one
A wine bar?
Lol I love Hancock
I dont get it.....
Necrotic Geist Preston: "You know what the glowing sea needs? Settlements I can mark on your map."
It also needs Macho claws!!!
"What the hell happened here? Everythin's dead..."
It's like visiting MySpace.
...
troo
Adolf Hitler Wait arent you Adolf Hitler though?
It really is, it even has the radiation and all.
DeadSpace
I'll never forget the rising sense of amazement and horror as I realized what I was walking into the first time I went there.
Shaggy McGee then a couple of levels and legendaries later
This is a walk in the park :D
Me too !
I felt like walking into the moon or another planet, specially when wearing the hazmat suit, the sense of horror while surviving an Inhospitable environment is Astounding...
Yeah, the Glowing Sea feels like you’re walking through Hell rather actually being on Earth.
And then you realized how little rads you actually took even if you didn't have any rad resistant buffs on...
I should run through the glowing sea nekkid for shits and giggles. I wore my Minuteman power armor through the glowing sea.
“Looks like someone extinguished hell.” Actually a brilliant line
Bethesda's writing has a few deep hairline fractures, but lines like this prove it's solid everywhere else.
@@srbrant5391 seems fitting that it was valentines line too
@@srbrant5391 honestly for all the flak Bethesda gets (some of which is well deserved), they keep the writing decent if occasionally cheesy. The main quest in FO4 was pretty much the only time I cared about the main quest in their games, because looking for the lost son and avenging the murdered spouse feels personal to the character. We aren't trying to save the world or something, we're just looking for the remnant of our family
MacCready talks about the Glowing Sea being hell, must've forgot the insta-kill zone not far away from Little Lamplight
The +1298 Rads per second over vault 87?
I once managed to get through it so it would stop saying undiscovered on the map. took all the rad resistance i could get, favourited the rad-away, then ran to it and back, meanwhile spamming the rad-away as fast as humanly possible. took over 200. was 8 years ago so little fuzzy on finer points.
Bobo Magroto Oh, what about the Deathclaw Den, and the fucking Southeast D.C?
Bobo Magroto quarry junction
I once managed to make it to the center, the door was locked :(
I like how decons said "I can't believe I followed you here"
Havel the Rock "if we stay here for too long I guess there won't be any little decon's running around"
LMAO
@Gordon Freeman did you forget about nick
@Gordon Freeman I like that line two.
@Gordon Freeman but to me it looks like a giant glowstick broke and someone painted that place with its glowstick juice
"This place looks like someone extinguished hell"
That's actually a really good description
put some hazmats or power armor on your companions HAVE YOU NO RESPECT FOR IMMERSION
Ghoul Preston looks cool though
you DON'T give all your companions X-01 power armor?
I give Curie Automatron T-60 Power Armor for extra carry weight and idk why it's completely broken after the trip and I have to collect tons of junk to repair it
Chikirin I was gonna say the same thing
I’m pretty sure companions and NPCs are immune to radiation. Not sure about radiation traps and weapons though...
Am I the only person who got the aquaboy/girl perk before amari sent me to the glowing sea, then when she told me about all the radiation I thought: " well it's called the glowing sea, so it must be an ocean AND I have aquaboi so I won't get a single rad! "
Then I went there with no rad protection only to find out it wasn't a sea.
Yep, then you have to go all the way back to sanctuary or find a suit lol I would've thought the same way if I didn't watch tons of fallout vids before I played.
Yes, yes you are. No one gets Aquaboy unless they are doing a Superhero build.
luckily FO3 and skyrim made me avoid doing bethesda's main quests as long as possible, so i knew the commonwealth well before i had a clue where to look for my son.
Warrant Pinnock
Or you happened to have played the game so many times , that now a days you use the console to reach level 280+ the moment you exit vault 111.
Nope
I love the glowing sea. It's so desolate and tranquil. Wish I could build a settlement out there. Shut up, Preston. Not for you.
Radioactive deathzone, Maybe not the best settlement location 😅
I know Dogmeat is immune to radiation, but i kinda feel bad dragging him with me to the place
Puts gas mask on a dog
I feel bad dragging Dogmeat or any human companion in.
Hancock, Nick, Danse ( Spoiler ahead), Codsworth and other non humans are immune so not as .
much.
.
.
.
.
Danse I added because hes well a synth. I assume much like X6-88 he's immune to rads being a synth
@@chrisriley2321 Which is quite strange. If synths are immune to radiation effects, then you or other people could figure out you’re a synth unless you have whatever the hell the children of atom have to not die from radiation. BTW, sending my companions with power armor to the glowing sea makes me feel better.
@@Jade0603 well our player character isn't since they take radiation damage as for the radiation worshiping nujobs I think some are better genetically equipped not sure how or why and it's all speculation anyway
And yeah power armor definitely helps. Of course Danse doesn't actually need it but he doesn't know that until later
@@chrisriley2321 thank god i dont play the brotherhood questline
Of all the companions, I actually enjoyed the conversations with Nick the most. his dry humor and snarky comebacks made him the most, well...human, of the bunch. I think that a cool spin-off story would be Nick and the Sole Survivor as detectives, solving crimes in the wasteland. Nick is the brains, the Survivor the arm, and Ellie and Piper make up the heart and conscience.
Johnjames Bloom you have full respect from me XD that actually sounds like a great idea! I hope someone makes it a mod or something
The Lone Survivor is the Muscle*
Johnjames Bloo sees nuke 😵🏚
Johnjames Bloom Nah fam, dogmeat sounds the most human. Especially when he says "Bark"
I love Nick too, he is great for terminal hacking and such and he just seems layed back lol.
Everyone: Why the hell are we here?
Strong: Good fights here, *wrestles deathclaw*
"This place is a toxic wasteland"
Overwatch Competitive Season 5 in a nutshell
Preston doesn't want to go to the glowing sea because there is no settlements
Eduardo Ramírez There is one.. but they are all crazy irradiated religious nuts
Viz0r
Or in other words: Crazy people who worship radiation, also known as the children of atom
Pokémon Fan I got a mod where I can have more settlements in the glowing sea
At least it's not raining...
Preston: Hard to believe people use to live here... Like a settelement we should help. I'll marked it on you map.
peter siri goddammit
Preston I've helped every settlement in north and South America and now your trying to send me to places that don't exist. Why am I still helping you again
peter siri pls stop saying that it’s getting fucking annoying
Preston: this isn't a good place to be hanging around, but at least its not raining
Preston:there also used to be a settlement here here I'll mark on the map where it used to be so you can revive everyone there and rebuild the entire settlement by yourself
Me:how
Preston: it might be a little late to be telling you this but your a settlementborn
Me: what does that mean!!??
Preston you where born with the body of a mortal and the soul of a settlement.also it may be time that I reveal to you that my ancestors where the gray beards
Me: Preston I'm gonna kill you now right here right now not in 2.15 nanosecond right now
Best comment ever
Now I'm wanting there to be a glowing sea settlement, I have ghouls and robots as settlers, let's do this!
3:39
It's actually the first time I hear the word 'fall out' in a fallout game.
she said it! she said the line!
@@JohnyMiko thats it end the frandhise we did it
"Nothing gets nuclear fall out out of vinyl wood, nothing!"
-Codsworth
@@Other_Rookie “fall out” not “fallout”
Roll credits.
maccready is such a dork i love him
He can be a dork all he wants because he is such a great sniper and a loyal companion who does not have too much love for any faction.
1:31, the most accurate description of the glowing sea
I'm shocked Preston didn't pop up and say "Oh, the glowing sea. Perfect, there's a settlement that needs your help."
This is not a good place to be hanging a settlement needs your help anyways I'll mark it on your map
ur late kid
1:10 when talking to nick you see a deathclaw in the background
Barely though
john may I think its an Albino Deathclaw
john may I
Official D4DE ?
That's a albino one too
kinda eerie seeing the deathclaw walk around in the background at 1:13
during valentines first comment did anyone else see the albino deathclaw
Timothy Medrano I saw it it its a white blur
Straight Savage lmao wtf that’s creepy, when there is a lightning flicker you see it walking about
Straight Savage daaaaamn you have a good eye
Yeah I saw it as well
The Glowing Sea is a big reminder to all of us that the actual nuclear war is going to end like this instead of what we saw in the Commonwealth
realistically, after 200 years, it would look like neither. Just forest and a few brick foundations
InterHalfer
You know what happens after a forest fire? The grass and trees come back stronger and healthier.
Remember "Life finds a way" whether it's a flood, wild fire, or nuclear fallout.
Maximus Hi the only reason its still irradiated is because of the decaying reactor
Gabe Layfield I doubt trees will grow back stronger when radiation is sapping up their water supply
they sealed the Chernobyl reactor without the sarcophagus the radiation would render the area lifeless.
You forgot about Dog Meat, who just yawns or sneezes.
Lone Wanderer: "Damn, looks like this place took a direct hit.
Courier 6: "Yeah I'm not looking to stick around, you know radiation and all that."
2:26 when you see SJW/Antifa parades
Preston: "It's nice that we're exploring the Glowing Sea, but I'm sure there are more settlements needs our help."
Sole Survivor: "You're right, I'll go look for some. Wait here."
Preston: "You got it, General."
Sole Survivor: *Leaves and never comes back*
Comes back to find Ghoul Garvey
Ghoul Garvey: At least it's not raining.
"Why do you suppose this area got hit so hard" BECAUSE MAYBE A NUKE FELL RIGHT INTO IT... Genius Piper Strikes Again
Not to mention gravity... The lower the altitude, in this case, a lower altitude area in a bowl shape is going to accumulate the most radiation.
Actually it was the nuclear reactor exploding and leaking that causes the glowing sea. the nuke was just a catalyst
RoseAndTheGun94 I forgot about that part. Not to mention all of the little Fusion Cells and Cores lying around all over the place. I mean, EVERYTHING was powered by nuclear technology then.
mattpatt done a video on this
Veilfire she asks the question because something important must have been there
And there was, a nuclear weapons factory was in the glowing sea
You may have seen it before
When I first heard of the glowing sea, I literally thought there was going to be a glowing *SEA* ,when I went there I was at awe like YO this place is AIDS.
Ah yes, my expedition to the Glowing Sea went along just swimmingly...
Now my white blood cell count is dangerously low, my platelets are gone, I've started vomiting, having seizures, my skin has been peeling off, I look like I just got burned, my organs either bloated with blood or have melted into goo, and even my muscles have degenerated. To say I need a Radaway is the biggest understatement in the history of ever.
Deacon is just wearing a short sleeved shirt like *"Meh"*
[strong needs milk]
Why does talking to Preston say "Chat" instead of "Thoughts?"?
George Cataloni Because Preston is actually a synth with no free will. Waka waka
Because a settlement needs your help
Preston does not think. He chats and disperses info on settlements that need your help
Guess it's the one place where Preston can't mark any settlements on your map.
I found a new home Then :D
Just wait until the Children of Atom mod
"I'll follow you to the deepth of hell itself!"
Funny you say that because...
“Little Deacons” BRUH THATS ADORABLE
The Glowing Sea, The obvious location of where the Bomb that started all the chaos, Landed.
ILoveAngryBirds200 and going there 200 years later would make you whiter than a fucking ghost.
Actually if you read above (or below, on your screen) there was a nuclear reactor here and when the bombs went off, they triggered the plant.
Yeah but at the same time a nuke alone can fuck up a lot of stuff
Grim Reaper yeah for real. and he would know he's the grim reaper
DudeWithStuff i think they were trying to hit sentinel site and cause aton of nukes to go of possibly causing more destruction also i wonder how the rest of the world is in this time
why der no settlements in da glowing c boi
Preston Garvey
There is one but its full of people who worship radiation
Because even Raiders are smart enough to know it’s a bad place to live, but you seem to not be as intelligent.
If your gonna play a Preston, spell correctly
King Royal Wing
wooosh
Other than telling you about more settlements that need help, I expected Preston to say "At least it't not raining"
Everyone: Moaning about the Glowing Sea
Hancock: Ayo where da bar at?
mccready's reaction was the best it's quiet too quiet
A bit of trash
I think they made McCready’s character to be the average gamer.
He says the same in the castle sometimes
I have him in sanctuary in one of my saves and he constantly says that. Its not exclusive to the glowing sea.
first time in here:*looks around constantly
after you finish the game: I CAN STAY HERE FOR AGES!!!
dutch ezic star agent
on my way to vergil's cave, I saw a collapsed highway on a hill with some cargo crates on it, at first I thought it was a boat, I went to investigate like any other waste lander. There was a deathclaw waiting there, I managed to sneak off the other side, lucky for me, I had my power armor on. About half a mile out, I turn around, and see not one, but two more deathclaws mauling the living hell out of power armored Preston. He dies in under a minute. Then they turn to me, I crouch, caution sign turns to danger, I know I'm screwed now. I turn, and run. They caught up to me quickly, I ran into a collapsed building, and waited it out. Seconds later, I hear a miniguns going off, I thought it was a verti-bird. I go outside, one deathclaw was missing. And the other two were dead. It was Preston, the last minuteman! I praised Preston from that day on, accepting every settlement he sent me to help
THIS IS MY KINGDOM NOW!

Straight up thought preston was going to say "this is not a good place for a settlement"
Preston: This is not a good place to be hanging around. You know where we could hang around? In another settlement that needs your help. I'll mark it on your map.
"I wonder if this place will ever recover. Doesn't look like it. But this settlement will with your help. I'lve marked it on your map."
I still can't believe that they made Twitter a location.

"You gotta be real crazy or real tough to survive here. Least that's what worked for me." Hancock has been to the glowing sea before?
Bethesda really missed the chance for McCready to do a vault 87 callback.
Or was he always to scared to go in there? People rarely get over the fears they had as children
1:11 I've never heard that one before. Nice one, Nick. Made me laugh actually. :p
Everyone: The radiation is lethal.
Sole Survivor: **casually getting 1 rads per second**
0:15 Welcone to Kazakhstan.
Cait just casually standing in a pool of radiated water is the best thing I've seen in forever 😂😂
If I was here, I'd say "is that my Geiger counter going off or my sperm exploding?"
Kemonokami "wait a sec i have to inject some rad-x and rad away into my balls"
Mine's in the shop.
I wouldn't take my balls out there unless you plan on losing them
"Too much glow" Hay, Ya Strong is actually IGN!
Strong: Too much Glow, not enough Sea, 3/10
I think the glowing sea remixes the “glow” theme from fallout 1 (its called radiation storm listen to it)
i was waiting for Preston to say "At least it's not raining"
I love how all the companions worry about the roads and Hancock is just bored and wants a bar
Hancock “ The glowing sea needs a bar” lol
"This place looks like someone extinguished hell"
God he's so right now that i compare it to calmed brimstone.. D:
I love how all the humans aren't instantly kill by the radiation, despite not wearing any protection against the rads
In my playthrough I make Preston stay in the glowing sea he's still there now I don't have to worry about settlements or Preston garvey bonus
Preston: At least it's not raining
"We need to get out of here as quick as we can, so we can help the settlement, I'll mark it on your map.
I love how nick is always concerned about your exposure radiation
Unbelieveable that a place so cool like this could be so underwhelming.
Kate's line judging by how your Geiger counter is clicking means I might be glowing soon😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
everyone goes to the glowing sea with hazmat suits, and there's me, using power armor to go to the glowing sea
but what is Tiber Septim Doing in Fallout 4 ?
I dont use power armor or radiation suit
I take my character in naked, just the the sarcastic remark you make in good-neighbor.

if hancock opening a bar there, he might call it glowingneighbor
I love how accepting the companions already are with accepting their fate of lethal radiation death, with countless comments talking about their hair falling out and all instead of running away from the area.
Not to mention deacons amazing addition at 1:41
"It"s quiet out here... Too quiet... Hehehe, I've always wanted to say that"
People: the glowing sea has so much rads
Also people with no hazmat or power armor: this but a scratch
at 3:51 she wonders why this place got hit hard, most likely because of the Sentinel Site
Preston Garvey Comments: Another Settlement Needs Help
"holy hell, i cant believe we got out of there alive... anyway theres a settlement that needs your help general. I'll mark it on your map."
I was playing on survival and went there and by accident told Preston to wait and well, let's say no more settlements need our help
"Who would've thought that a place with this much radiation could be so damn dull"
Well, you can blame Bethesda for that
4:48 "At least it's not raining."
Preston: There’s a settlement nearby that needs your hel- oh wait guess they died
"This place is a toxic wasteland."
*YOU DONT SAY?*
One time i got what i think it was a bug, but basically all the rads and the rad storms were completely gone and was sunny and nice
General, we need to get out of the glowing sea. They’re aren’t many settlements that need our help. There are the children of atom, but they won’t want to join the minutemen.
It took me until Preston to realize that the Glowing Sea was caused by the nuke at the beginning of the game.
The reason why that area was hit so hard was because of the listening post and the bomb site. The Chinese wanted to take them out. Funny thing is, they didn't. Both sites were ultimately unharmed and still work, but the rest of the area paid the price and was just leveled beyond recognition. Really pity the guys who made it into the Listening Post. Didn't have enough supplies to last, even though they were safe from the radiation.
