I went in there finding virgil at level 15-17... no power armor or hazmat suit no legendary weapons or armour just a regular sniper and combat shotgun and a snubnosed .44....to say the least that was a challenge. Did anyone else notice that the elevator room doesn't even exist until the player uses the elevator from the basement. Even clipping through the ground doesn't reveal it. And the car chassis you see, it gets pushed up from the elevator room. So clearly, the bunker is hidden until the personnel have to make an emergency evacuation from the bunker.

This location may also include a reference to a 1959 novel called Level 7 by Mordecai Roshwald. An army technician is assigned to a bunker, in which after arriving they are told they can never leave, and to appreciate their privileged positions. The main character watches a map, and pushes buttons to launch nuclear weapons, as a safeguard against surprise attack. Speakers within the bunker also house microphones used to monitor occupant activities. Definitely not as clear a reference as Swan's Pond to Flowers for Algernon, though, and could be a coincidence.

Its 2020, and here I am playing fallout 4 again and rewatching your videos lol thank you so much for all the great content. You sir, make this game that much better.
Great video OX. I went here before the BOS even showed up in game and even though it's been a long time,I remember killing a lot more than three synth and the computer terminals had content on them. I did notice after the BOS showed up that a lot of terminals that I had already accessed changed and showed the message that they had been cleared. Gotta get'em early.
When the magazine said NOT THE SOLDIERS YOUR LOOKING FOR is a reference to Star Wars from that one seen when Obi One Kanobi said 'these are not the droids you are looking for' while doing the force mind trick on storm troopers.
Love this place it has a lot of good loot and a bonus partial X01 PA. I wondered the same thing why are Synths here. I did snoop through the terminals but got no real info on the place but it is a cool little spot to check out. Thanks again for a great video.
I found an irradiated behemoth in this area and a Queen Mirelurk. I've only been playing for 10 days. I killed them but was stretched for supplies. I got into the bunker but missed much of the stiff. I have to back. Now the cool part was I guess the game was glitching because BOS helicopter team were out the fighting the behemoth when I ran up on it. I was in the middle of tracking the BOS distress signal.
Wow! So the Shack ends up hinting at why the bombs were dropped there in the first places!! Really cool investigative work, and for a major plot mystery!
Well the Sentinel Site which housed and would’ve launched nukes would be the obvious main target, which is why the bomb hit there, not just K-21B alone (although it may have added to the likelihood). So not really a “major plot mystery” either just saying.
Fun fact, in western and central Massachusetts there are a few bunkers, and underground facilities, some built during the cold war, that these may be referencing. The Notch bunker in Holyoke for instance. There's a few Long Lines stations, and also other secret facilities hidden around, disguised as houses and farms, but I won't say where. ;) Otherwise if you look at the FEMA map of likely Russian target sites from the 90s, there's a few blast sites around Springfield. Airfields, and bunkers I assume.
NO THIS CANT BE “Bill” and the fact that he’s wearing a lab coat this can only mean ONE thing... BILL NYE THE SCIENCE GUY BILL BILL BILL SCIENCE RULES!!!
I've always wanted to see what can be pulled together about the post Fallout collapse. The Boston Mayoral Shelter, the West Everett Estate, one of the hospitals, Boylston Club all seem to indicate a post Fallout story. Desperate medical care, suicide in the club, barricading the estate, a mob sacking the bunker suggest a story could be pulled together.
Assumed the implication of suggesting a topic to someone who is focusing on Fallout 4 (as far as the series is concerned) would have precluded the need for specifications
I would think the Minutemen serve the American way best in FO4. Brotherhood of Steel would be a runner-up; but the Minutemen do what they can to help others and create a safe environment for all. Synth run-aways, BoS, Railroad...
A few months ago I saw a video about this location that theorized that the bunker was held by an group of enclave remnants prior to the Brotherhood's arrival. There is a crashed vertibird close by that may have been Enclave. That may also explain why the Brotherhood sought out the site. They were seeking out remnants and confiscated their data on the terminal. That may also explain the presence of X-01 armor in the base.
Spoiler alert!! II II II VVV VV V Oxhorn, i wonder if it was something you have been wondering about when you completed the main storyline. I did the railroad ending and sounded the evac alarm. because i didnt want to kill everyone. however the scientists and the other human employees (and children) are no where to be found in the commonwealth after the instituut has been evacuated. you get the quests to find the missing synths that have been teleported all over the place, but you never get a quest to find an instituut employee (atleast, i never did). it makes me feel bad, because i dont want those people to die, most of all the children. do you have a story on what happened to the non-synth survivors from the instituut? :)
The Mayoral Bunker has the BOS message on one of their terminals too. As well as Synths in the building. It might be worthwhile to see where all the BOS has been in the Commonwealth on their little missions.
Not A Enclave remant, have you seen regular show? He could rap like pops. (If you have not seen regular show, or the scene I mentioned. Look up regular show pops rapping
That's a game feature for BoS play throughs when you reach knight and above on the BoS main quest. Afterwards, when your character accesses terminals, you transfer them over to the BoS. Strangely, not every terminal, just certain ones... try it out on your other characters who have not associated at all with the BoS...
An idea for a video, what did the average American Citizen think of the government before the bombs fell. What did the government tell the people about possible nuclear war and might they have know it was coming.
Hi Oxhorn! Your content is thorough, thoughtful, and it really shows you're putting effort into this and planning. Although it is quite the undertaking, I'd love to see a complete guide to Diamond City. Keep posting I'll keep watching.
Nick Nieberg that's actually a really good question, the most logical explanations would be that they did not want to spend to much time in the glowing sea, they couldn't carry it with them or they tried to destroy it but failed explaining why the suit is damaged and only some parts are there instead of a whole set.
probably not safe to equip a suit of damaged old xo1 power armour in the middle of the sea, could have faulty radiation shields or something. lets also not forget that the brotherhood are trained in using t-60 and not xo1.
One of the most disappointed things in Fallout 4 is the fact that you didn't hardly get to do anything PreWar. I wish there was more dialogue and exploration you could do before the bombs fell.Like hey,how about you actually get to go to the park before everything exsplodes.Or even talk to your neighbors.I just really wish you could do more before the bombs dropped.Others may disagree, but I'm just very fascinated by Prewar. I feel Bethesda missed some opportunities there.Or find your dog that might actually be Dogmeat.
hello oxhorn. I remember first saying you where's sporting Tauren horns and singing about hating elves. it is good to see you're still going. I was wondering if this could be where the Institute obtained Paladin Danse if he went off alone for a simple reconnaissance. I first came across this well before I completed killing Kellogg and the arrival of the Brotherhood.
"the evacuation plan read's like a typical memo from the united states government that we find in the fallout universe. where they treat employees not like people but things." So you mean exactly like the real united states government!?
We became public resources ever since the "trading with the enemies" act back in the 1930's when the United States declared bankruptcy and took all the real money GOLD from people!
Also combat zone restored mod that fixes it so you can actually play it is really buggy but it's fun Oxhorn. You gotta be real careful and start a brand new game. Super fun though. Sometimes you gotta jump in from above the cage because the doors are stuck shut to fight Cait the first time pro tip, then load a save after you fight her then the downstairs will be opened up. No killing is allowed. Also, make sure you wait for the contestant for future fights to go up first (literally watch the person go up the lift) and then you go up otherwise the person will be stuck below you and you gotta reload. Quicksave often. You can also rig the bets in your favor by quicksaving before you place a bet. There's a part where quicksaving hurts you and you fall through the floor so make use of saving and quicksaving.
Hey Oxhorn! I have a few questions if you're up for it. I was wondering what the Gen 3 synths are made of? Like, are they made of cells like humans and every other living thing? I ask, because I remember you saying there's no physical difference between synths and humans, that they're essentially the same. I take that to mean that synths would also be made up of cells. Cells need energy from food to function, and our brains need sleep to function. Humans (who are made of cells) need food and sleep to survive. So, wouldn't synths also need food and sleep? I forget if they need to eat or not. But, if synths don't need to eat or sleep, and are made of cells, how would that work? If they are made of a different substance (not cells), how would that work and wouldn't others be able to find out that they are synths by looking at some of their skin or something under a microscope? And, how can synths be immune from disease and still receive radiation poisoning (and die from it)? I'm just asking, because I'm curious and would love to learn more about this. Thank you! :)
I think the reason the shack had an obvious elevator behind it is partially because the elevator used to be in a cave or something of the like, but became unearthed (possibly by the Brotherhood of Steel).
It would be interesting to see a project try to reconstruct what the Commonwealth looked like before the bombs... Obviously that would be hard with the Glowing Sea due to the sheer level of destruction present, but it would still be interesting to see what can be put back together all the same.
They may have used the Boston Airport however any runways that were there are covered in water and mud and sank into the sea. Most likely due to the ice caps melting during the Great War. I have seen fighter jets use the Des Moines airport a few years back.
But it is not a military airfield. And i know satellite station Olivia is a air force satellite base but that is all the air force base in Boston but the BOS talks about the air force having a big presence in Boston.
Only air vehicles in the glowing sea are a crashed passenger plane and a crashed vertibird, and there may not really be anything left. You stumble upon a red rocket filling station that's more or less just a cave now, and a covered up Super Duper Mart iirc. It's very possible if there was something, it's become nothing but scorched earth and ravaged debris that's been partially or completely buried, especially if it's where the bomb dropped. We have no idea what was where the giant crater is now, just that a lot of land around it has been raised up and ravaged. If an airbase was directly where the crater is, everything there was probably annihilated. *edit: Typos
I never sided with the BoS. The time I went up into the airship to meet with the leader, I saw them all lined up in two rows in a room. I exited the room and then launched a nuke into the room killing all of the leaders. I went back later and cleared the airport.
Hey Oxhorn love the videos just want to let you know prior to entering the shack the elevator bunker isn't out back. Noticeably thought there is a small hill with a car frame at a roughly 60 to 70 degree angle buried inside that hill possibly some trees was hard to see as sad storm was going on....however after exiting through the elevator the whole elevator/concrete bunker appears to have "risen" from the earth the car frame is lying flat on the roof the closest trees are "tilted over" and there are small rocks/debris on top and around the bunker. Best guess it literally rose from the radioactive dirt so it is fairly well hidden considering though the toxic waste barrels in front of house are odd. Just thought I'd point out my minor discovery this game can have so many subtle missable things to find
No, it is not. I have been there for testig with some low level Charas, and it was always T-45. Only with mods that use this frame to make it something else it not T-45 or higher, based on the levellist.

The brotherhood was in the commonwealth before the prydwin arrives. Ex: Paladin Dance.
Hayden Christensen *Danse*
IceSanta its overrun by synths
"Complete with a partial set..."
Both that buried church and office building, in the glowing sea, would make for an interesting video...
biostemm fuck that buried church
BoS was founded in 2076, before the war. So 1 of the soldier in bunker could be BoS' member and deleted notes before dying
When the magazine said NOT THE SOLDIERS YOUR LOOKING FOR is a reference to Star Wars from that one seen when Obi One Kanobi said 'these are not the droids you are looking for' while doing the force mind trick on storm troopers.
This was one of the coolest locations in the game imo
Love this place it has a lot of good loot and a bonus partial X01 PA. I wondered the same thing why are Synths here. I did snoop through the terminals but got no real info on the place but it is a cool little spot to check out. Thanks again for a great video.
What if you come here before the BOS ?
Sadly the same. Only thing i can think of, is that an earlyer reconteam got there.
It's impossible for you to get there before the BOS. Prior to the Prydwyn, you had the recon teams of Brandis and Danse running around.
OmegaValwin Omg I watch your videos! Awesome!
OmegaValwin Paladin Danse or Brandis' recon team
I always come before the BOS.
"How did the synths get in?" , oh yeah , what a good question , not like they have a molecular relay or smtg
How about a vid about the Assaultron?
I've always wanted to see what can be pulled together about the post Fallout collapse. The Boston Mayoral Shelter, the West Everett Estate, one of the hospitals, Boylston Club all seem to indicate a post Fallout story. Desperate medical care, suicide in the club, barricading the estate, a mob sacking the bunker suggest a story could be pulled together.
Topic for possible discussion: Which faction best represents American values and principles.
NCR is not a Fallout 4 faction
Assumed the implication of suggesting a topic to someone who is focusing on Fallout 4 (as far as the series is concerned) would have precluded the need for specifications
The Enclave, of course.
I would think the Minutemen serve the American way best in FO4. Brotherhood of Steel would be a runner-up; but the Minutemen do what they can to help others and create a safe environment for all. Synth run-aways, BoS, Railroad...
James Wallace that doesn't really sound like the USA
A few months ago I saw a video about this location that theorized that the bunker was held by an group of enclave remnants prior to the Brotherhood's arrival. There is a crashed vertibird close by that may have been Enclave. That may also explain why the Brotherhood sought out the site. They were seeking out remnants and confiscated their data on the terminal. That may also explain the presence of X-01 armor in the base.
That's probably why the BoS comes from the west after killing Kellogg. The Abandoned Shack was where they just were.
OR the came from the capital wasteland
This is awesome. Great job. I would never put as many pieces together like you did.
Oxhorn, you can get here before the BOS and read the computer. I forget what it says but I will post once I find out on my current play through
Did you read it yet?
@7:38 Awesome Star Wars reference: “These are not the droids you’re looking for.”
no one's gonna mention that there's also an abandoned shack in Skyrim 🙄
Thanks for the lore story Oxhorn, always watch em.
Spoiler alert!!

Oxhorn, i wonder if it was something you have been wondering about when you completed the main storyline. :)
you can help groups of scientits find a settlement from the railroad or Preston, also it is spelled INSTITUTE
The Mayoral Bunker has the BOS message on one of their terminals too. As well as Synths in the building. It might be worthwhile to see where all the BOS has been in the Commonwealth on their little missions.
This place is where i have my space wolf power armour :D
Thank you for all these videos. It really makes me want to pick Fallout back up
"Epic Rap Battles: Storyteller vs Oxhorn."
Make it happen.
That one apple guy is out of the picture
epic rap battles of fallout..... STORY,TELLER. versus! OOOOOXXXXHHHHOOOORRRRNNNNNN BEGIN!!
Yeah but oxhorn doesn't cuss
Not A Enclave remant, have you seen regular show? He could rap like pops.
(If you have not seen regular show, or the scene I mentioned. Look up regular show pops rapping
Not A Enclave remant I've heard him cuss
That's a game feature for BoS play throughs when you reach knight and above on the BoS main quest. Afterwards, when your character accesses terminals, you transfer them over to the BoS. Strangely, not every terminal, just certain ones... try it out on your other characters who have not associated at all with the BoS...
An idea for a video, what did the average American Citizen think of the government before the bombs fell. What did the government tell the people about possible nuclear war and might they have know it was coming.
You're like the Bob Ross of gaming, dude.
I found a full suit of X-01 at level 90 anybody else?
Found this with Level 40 or something.
Hunter I found one too lvl40 or something
In a tunnel (Level 28 i guess) i found a full X-01
Kdawg 244 Hall found 2 full suits and few other parts actually at lv 33!!!one was at national or whatever training yard and another at court 35.
Minimum level to find a full set of X-01 at the shack is 38 where as the one at court 38 is 28
Hi Oxhorn! Your content is thorough, thoughtful, and it really shows you're putting effort into this and planning. Although it is quite the undertaking, I'd love to see a complete guide to Diamond City. Keep posting I'll keep watching.
Need more tragically beautiful storytelling.
It's the first time I listened to Oxhorn tell a story and I like it! Well done:)
if the brotherhood of steel were in this location why didnt they grab the xo1 powerarmore
Nick Nieberg that's actually a really good question, the most logical explanations would be that they did not want to spend to much time in the glowing sea, they couldn't carry it with them or they tried to destroy it but failed explaining why the suit is damaged and only some parts are there instead of a whole set.
or maybe they aready have this tecnology from the war against the Enclave in Capital Wasteland
probably not safe to equip a suit of damaged old xo1 power armour in the middle of the sea, could have faulty radiation shields or something. lets also not forget that the brotherhood are trained in using t-60 and not xo1.
clazza they can builda big robot they surely can fix asuit of pa
Nick Nieberg liberty prime was repaired not created by bos
I think Fort Strong is quite interesting spot, and have some important information about the war.
Grendel Mortus Those where the best videos,
"the evacuation plan read's like a typical memo from the united states government that we find in the fallout universe. where they treat employees not like people but things." So you mean exactly like the real united states government!?
How scary is that many people are voting that goverment should have more power
Medell ps I exactly!
We became public resources ever since the "trading with the enemies" act back in the 1930's when the United States declared bankruptcy and took all the real money GOLD from people!
It's scary how realistically Fallout portrays our gov.
"secrets could have only been about the Chinese" someone forgot about Snowden already.
dude idk what it is about the glowing sea but it is my favorite location in fallout 4. I love it
abandon shack in skyrim to.
Thank you! :)
What if you go to the bunker BEFORE the Prydwen arrives?
It was probably raided by one of the three recon teams sent to the commonwealth.
Amazing. The blast threw a car. But a fan stays perched precisely on top of a locker!
Can you do a vid on other prewar army things please
I think the reason the shack had an obvious elevator behind it is partially because the elevator used to be in a cave or something of the like, but became unearthed (possibly by the Brotherhood of Steel).
could you do a video on the harbor grand hotel
It would be interesting to see a project try to reconstruct what the Commonwealth looked like before the bombs... Obviously that would be hard with the Glowing Sea due to the sheer level of destruction present, but it would still be interesting to see what can be put back together all the same.
Why are they no Air force base because they say Boston was a big air force staging ground before the war?
They may have used the Boston Airport however any runways that were there are covered in water and mud and sank into the sea. Most likely due to the ice caps melting during the Great War. I have seen fighter jets use the Des Moines airport a few years back.
But it is not a military airfield. And i know satellite station Olivia is a air force satellite base but that is all the air force base in Boston but the BOS talks about the air force having a big presence in Boston.
Maybe it was in the glowing sea, so the chinese hit it with the nuke and nothing remains.
But they would be something left right?
This is fascinating! I love this kind of mystery being revealed by examining the clues left behind. Awesome job man!
So I help my brother with his cars and I get to use his computer to play fallout 4
hard work but its worth it
JOE DIDUKA it actually is, especially on PC, the best mods and 60 fps.
JOE DIDUKA ask for money to buy the game urself XD
well the thing is I HAVE the game but I cant run.....soooo
see how I said "use computer" I have the game
not rich not poor
I never sided with the BoS. The time I went up into the airship to meet with the leader, I saw them all lined up in two rows in a room. I exited the room and then launched a nuke into the room killing all of the leaders. I went back later and cleared the airport.
My name is jeff
Just thought I'd point out my minor discovery this game can have so many subtle missable things to find
ox can you do a video of the other military bases?
hboy 777 there is no real military Base in fallout
hboy 777 in 4 atleast
the elevator is actually hidden, when you go there for the first time it's nowhere to be found, it most likely rises out of the ground when you use it
Praise the -Sun- Institute
Woody Sagan dhmis
Woody Sagan praise the minutemen. answering to people's call in a minutes notice.
I've got some people that need kidnapping, I'll mark it on your map.
LoL
Killarex took them more then a minute to get to Quincy
Oof shots fired
Can confirm the power armour suit is leveled. I've seen it spawn as a T45, and a suit of base model, non-BOS T-60.
ma nama jeff
You are great man... I spent so much of my time on Fallout 4... But that's nothing compared to yours... And your research is amazing.
its always xi1 its a bounus feture
No, it is not. I have been there for testig with some low level Charas, and it was always T-45. Only with mods that use this frame to make it something else it not T-45 or higher, based on the levellist.
Great highlights and explanation about this Abandoned Shack inside The Glowing Sea. Very interesting and helpful 👍
