I enlisted in the Air Force in 1979 at 18 years old and was stationed at Keesler Air Force Base for tech school. I had a black room mate named Michael Sneed that shared the dorm that was assigned us to. He was from Oakland Ca. and I'm a white dude from Po-dunk South Carolina. Anyway one Sunday we were talking music and he played Rose Royce 'Love don't live here anymore" and I dug it, still do to this day. I put in Nazareth 'Love hurts", and he said "damn those brothers can sing". I said "those brothers are white" and he couldn't believe it. After 6 weeks of tech school, we hugged and said goodbye; then we exchanged cassettes. Great guy .I think of him often
Love Hurts lead vocalist Scottish singer Dan McCafferty. What a voice !
Befor your time??? Doesnt matter...this song is timeless..❤
I AM THE BIGGEST NAZARETH FAN ON THE PLANET !
A lot of artists covered this song...This band fucking nailed it...
Beggar's Day is another good song from Nazareth🤘
One of the best, if not the best songs EVER‼‼‼‼❣❣‼
One song that simply can’t be covered. His voice is too perfect.
But yet it was a cover song originally done by the Everly Brothers.
@@user-sm2ql7nq4l Also covered by Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris
Nazareth - Changin' Times. Underrated.
Why isn't she a professional singer, and famous? Her voice is as good as the guy singing in the video and he's awesome.
I was 17 when this came out...we had the best music in the 70s
Another great song by this band is My White Bicycle.
dan mccafferty is a monster on vocals
indeed. This Flight Tonight, Love Hurts Expect No Mercy among many others shows his incredible breadth and versatility.
Dan McCafferty. Another grossly underrated singer
Juan the most underrated guitarist, to me the best.
I agree Hair of the Dog should be the next Nazareth song you do. 🤘🏻🤘🏻❤️
That's quite a juxtaposition!
Side A and side B of the same record.
My favorite in my collection because both songs cover it all....love and the bitch of it.
Hi Shawn and Mel, Nazareth are a Scottish rock band formed in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland in 1968, their lead singer is Dan McCafferty, they're still performing today, I'm from Scotland myself, love this song and the band!! 😀 😀
Big Hi from Scotland!! 😀 😀
Check out the brilliant Hair of the Dog by Nazareth!! 😀 😀 👌👌
Hair of the dog, Holy Roller, This flight tonight, Sunshine... just to name a few of their songs. Great band!
All are great and some people called them a One-Hit-Wonder which is not true
I saw them live many times. The lead singer is gone now but oh what a voice.
i am born 1972 and grow up with these music.... ever a good journey back to that days...^^
Nazareth songs Hair of the dog- Holliday- This flight tonight. 3 great ones. S&M SQUAD ROCKS.
Dan McCafferty himself said that he wasn't the one who wrote these lyrics, but he would really like to have written them because it had everything to do with him and the band and the composer said that he wrote them to be sung exactly in his voice. The lyrics of the song say that everyone will experience love and see that love also hurts, a disappointment in love or the death of the loved one, only the pain of loss for having loved someone will remain.
Great song, you need to do Nazareth 's song " Hair of the dog" you won't regret it.
Hair of the Dog is fire !!
More cowbell!
I agree completely
Hell yeah
@@mountaindigger7674 I've got a fever
I was 16 when this song came out. Damn we had great music back then..
Another great vocalist in rock! Can't be duplicated
;
My favorite singer.
this is one of the best songs from the 70s, it gets you in your feels for sure, im glad yall enjoyed it❤️
RIP Dan. One of the greatest rock singers of all time. We partied our asses off watching you all in concert at the Omni in Atlanta. Thanks for music man.
Dan McCafferty could take a roof of with that voice !! " broken down Angel " and " this flight tonight " all big hits here in the UK ❤️❤️❤️
More nazareth please
There are so many songs you can be listening to artists like Led Zeppelin The Who doing Baba O'Riley, the Lizard King himself Jim Morrison and The Doors doing their most famous song Hello I Love You, John Fogerty and Creedence Clearwater Revival doing the song that Tina Turner in her seventies and still wearing a red mini skirt can still dance to Proud Mary, the Traveling Wilburys or The Hollies doing He Ain't Heavy He's My brother. I think that to leave you smiling and loving music even more than you already do
Manny Charlton's sustains are legendary. What a guitar player!!
My first heart break 1976 , played this song a lot.
This is a dimly lit bar song, just drowning your sorrows. Beautiful song.
Dan mccaferty an his voice for this always makes me emotional,he makes you feel his pain! The guitar solo haunts your soul it hits deep!
I played Nazareth's "Hair of the Dog" album until I wore it out in high school. I would have to say that my all time favorite Nazareth song though is "Star."
My girlfriend got me this album for my 19 th. birthday in 76. Been my favorite band every since.
Play N The Game was my favorite album
He still tours and sings just like that
Perfect voice for this song.
My favorite Nazareth song!!!
In the late 70s I worked in Leith Library in Edinburgh and Nazareth were rehearsing for a tour in Leith Town Hall which was beside the Library. Me and my pal Linnie used to watch the during our breaks, just the two of us and Nazareth! Bloody fantastic times and I still have their autographs on a Library card!
Love all of Nazareth songs
I love whiskey drinking woman by them. Of course I like all their songs.
Best break-up song ever. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Woke up this morning is a good song from Nazareth
RIP Dan ( vovals) Manny ( Guitar) and Darrel ( Drums.Pete Agnew on bass is last man standing. Check out This flight tonight, awesome song.

I was 16 and learning that lesson very well as this song came out but what a great song it is.
Always a great song and yes man he made that guitar cry..
My stepdad used to hear this song while he dated my mom. Now they are married for 20 years..
NAZARETH: This Flight Tonight, Miss Misery, Bad Bad Boy, Go Down Fighting, Changin’ Times, Razamanaz, Holiday, Vancouver Shakedown, Hair Of The Dog.

Please don't judas me
You forgot to mention Whiskey Drinkin Woman and Please Don't Judas Me
Next one from Nazareth - This fly tonight ... or Sunshine .. 😎👍
Thanks!
Actually listen to this one on youth centres back in 76/77😎. In Norway. Back when i was a youth 🤗
My brother was lead guitarist in a band. They let me sing this.
My brother passed in May from cancer and this song will forever remind me of him. 😞❤️
Great band from Scotland, did it even better than the Everly Bros., Rafferty such a manly singer and man
You know', I have never heard of or known of anyone else that can redo or imitate what he did with the guitar there today', and I was listening to this when it first came out back in 1975''''''''
Also check out the original version by the Everly Brothers. They wrote this back in the late 50s early 69s
That song was always played at the skating rink for couples and slow backwards skates at least once that night
Yes. And the Beatles! When Hard Days Night came on us skaters kicked it into another gear, lol.
So funny, and so true. Song came out when I was in 6th grade.
@@chrisbera7952 Me too, it still touches me at the age of 57.
Good memories...those were the days 😍😍😍
You gotta have your heart broke to appreciate that.
No one will understand how this has influenced me'', I have created thousands of Heavy Metal riffs that blow everyone away'''''', it's insane''''''''
The original song by Graham Parson & Emmy Lou Harris wasn't a screaming mess like this, but a beautiful soft soulful song. Also watch Patrick Swayze & Larry Gatlin perform it together to perfection! Both beautiful duets sung the way it was meant to be sung.
Such a cool voice, I saw them in the late 70’s, The singer had a broken leg and sang from a chair, but still killed it.
I saw them that same year in Midland Texas lol awesome concert very loud ears rang for hours afterwards,,, memories
An incredibly talented band.
A few other classic Nazareth sings you really should react to...
1: Please Don't Judas Me
2: Whiskey Drinking Woman
Yes!!
What's Your Claim to Fame
This flight tonight and you shot me down
Yes Yes Yes
"Hair Of The Dog", "Miss Misery", "Beggar's Day" and "Whiskey Drinking Woman".
That whole album kicked some serious butt.....it was a mainstay of every kids music collection for like 20 years....ps: " miss misery" by nazareth!!!
Nazareth - This Flight Tonight! (My Favorite!) Drinking sweet Champlain got my headphones up high!!
“Whiskey drinking woman”… anther good tune
Good video. Here's something you might have missed about that solo. He only plucked the string once. He never plucked it again. It was all putting feelings through his touch into the string, and then driving the sound through his amp. That, and the singer's voice? That's true magic. Real truth. Love hurts.
Never noticed that. Incredible.
I never noticed that! Makes the solo even more amazing.
Well he had an E-bow to allow that string to sustain for that long!
@@ricomajestic Yep! Just didn't want to get too technical about it for folk who might not be musicians or don't know what an Ebow is and how it is used (been around since the 1920 iirc, and originally used in pianos to replace the hammers). But yes, you're correct. An Ebow was used - pluck it once, sustain forever and ever! Still, gotta say it again: what he did with that one note, and the feeling he put into it, helped drive the sound. It was absolute magic.
@@willshultz7813 I remember picking this out hearing off the radio. I was quite impressed, couldn’t have been too many people doin that kind of guitar work when this came out in the 70s.
1st. Love you guys. Thanks for making me feel old. 76 you guys saying b4 your time. I was 5 in 76 and loved this song when it came out. Such great memories. And Mel I can see you feeling it. We all feel the same way when we hear that song. A classic then and still is. God bless
His voice cuts to the bone
Cool song one of the best ever
One of my favorite
Love your stuff. You both are 70s children, Keep getting it.
Excelente reaccion, Love hurts, yes sir, the guitar was so crying .
Only; one of the most gorgeous songs ever written and performed.
Another great Scottish Band from Dunfermline
Those Classic MTV Shirts again!! Stylish 👍🏼😎
This great song was originally recorded by the late and great Roy Orbison. Roy with his shimmering tenor vocals and black wayfarer sunglasses was his trademark and become on of The Traveling Wilburys.
He gets you from the first word and the pain in his voice. He's amazing.
Yep👍❤️
Fabulous song.
I get tears listening this song 🤷♂️
One of best vocalists of all time next only to Brad Delp
Broken down Angel is another 🔥🔥🔥🔥 song from them
welcome to the big rabbit hole of Nazareth
This was the best cover
Got this tattooed on my arm ❤ Love hurts. My favorite oldie.
Amazing what you can do with a song which the Everly Bros made famous. And "This Flight Tonight", taken from Joni Mitchel is amazing. So creative.
Just Dropped In, Kenny Rogers and the First Addition.
I turned 5 right before January 1976. Being a December baby sucks.
But I grew up hearing all this music you guys are just discovering and I just always assumed everyone knew about
Hair of the Dog gets me ready to take on the day!!
That voice!!
I don't know what it is like music today Jam just got to be you know but back then it touches your soul it had heart even if it was R&B or it was Funk Soul rock and roll or even some country it like touches you inside it would go in your soul today they just playing music and singing and you know and it's good don't get me wrong but maybe it's because of the time I was growing up but it touched me inside you felt the music in your heart with your comment
This Flight Tonight is another of their GREAT ones
I saw them in 1976, great show. I think they opened for KISS
We all feel his pain.
One of my favorite songs. You both found a good one here
Takes me back to high school
He's hurt and I'm crying lol
Great guitar 🎸 solo .
This was always the last song played at my school dances.
