I needed a bag for an upcoming trip to Disney World and didn't want to spend $50 so I made this one. I changed it up a bit - piped the flap, put a cell phone pocket on the back, made the strap adjustable and put a zip in the center pocket so nothing would fall out on the rides. I am a beginner sewer but by following your many tutorials, I was able to make all the changes. I love my bag! Thank you so much for your tutorials and sharing your knowledge. It is very much appreciated.
Perfect! Another tutorial where you've shown step by step construction of a bag (that looks utterly confounding!) with easy simple instructions to follow. I also appreciate that this is one of those bags that doesn't require a pattern! Thank you!
Genius idea. I was stumped on how you were going to get a lining in but you explained and demonstrated and now I understand. One more project to add to the "to do list" - I think at least one of the ladies in the family will be getting one for Christmas. Thanks as always Debbie for your clear, concise instructions.
Made this this afternoon in between watching the royal wedding, as always fantastic instructions and really pleased with my efforts. Thanks Debbie for all your tutorials, they have boosted my confidence to try something new and challenging. Linda not Dave Simcock!
I made this project with a thick upholstery fabric, neutral color and added hardware for an adjustable strap. I use this as my "man bag" to carry essentials on the go. Perfect size for just a few things to carry with. I really love making your bags and have made several for gifts for friends and family.
Awesome bag. Thank you for teaching us a new way to construct the lining (versus leaving an opening, turning it inside out & sewing up the seam). This is a much neater way to do this. I also like the multiple pockets! I am ready to give this one a try.
I love this bag, I made it as soon as I watched the tutorial. I made mine out of quilted placemats and it’s adorable. Thank you for sharing how to make it! Your amazing!!!!
I LOVE this bag! And I'm about to make yet another one. I did discover that, when sewing the open square on the inside pieces, if you leave it open at the top instead of the bottom, it makes a small hidden pocket between the sections. It's a perfect size for cell phone, keys, etc.
I feel terrible!!! I watched this on my phone very early in the morning and thought, another great video from Debbie, as I love anything she does, because she is so brilliant at making things so simple. I have bought so many of her books cd/dvds etc, that once I had finish watching this one, I couldn't believe there were 4 thumbs down at the bottom. THIS IS WHERE I FEEL TERRIBLE because I then clicked on the thumbs down icon thinking it would show me what comments had be left, as I think this tutorial is excellent. Then I could see the figure change to FIVE !!!. SO I AM VERY SORRY that this happened this wasn't what I wanted to do at all. I think this is yet another brilliant tutorial from Debbie. Lyn xxx
I've just finished making my first lovely three pocket bag and it has turned out fantastic and I am so pleased with it. Thank you for sharing your tutorials with us. It's because of your enthusiasm and clear instructions that I trust the item I make will be worth my time and effort
What a cute bag Debbie, wonderful instructions that are easy to follow. I can't believe that 4 people gave you a thumbs down, and I really can't believe the negative comment you got from that one person. I don't think she was watching the same video as I did. What a nasty comment to leave,if you don't like it then why not keep your thoughts to yourself.
So many fabric ideas for this bag running through my head. Vinyl lining (maybe in one pocket), stiff interfacing (for obvious reasons) , quilting the outer fabric,......I so want to make this bag! Thank you for your video.
I finally found you! I do not understand what happened because I have subscribed to your channel for some time already, the main thing is that I can see your tutos again. They are so well done that I feel like being able to redo the objects and especially this bag with 3 pockets. I like him a lot. I have lots of ideas for making gifts and decorating it with patchwork, embroidery and pearls. Give me permission to make several because I have friends who go crack. At least 7 or 8. I saw that you had taken out a book and even if it is in English (and God knows that my English is bad) I think to buy it unless you have it translated into French in not too long. In any case thank you very much because thanks to you I do not find the sewing as difficult. Keep making us dream. Thanks Debbie
I think your English is Excellent! I've not been anywhere but I'm glad you've found me again! Make as many projects as you like, I hope your friends enjoy them. I do have one book translated into French, Half Yard Heaven, I'll try and find the translated title and get back to you.
I love that bag, and its refreshing to see that even the professionals have to go very slow and careful over some of the parts of the bag. I also liked seeing how to use a magnetic clasp.
Because I love this bag, I made it for my little daughter with a few changes, pipping and two more pockets betwen the three other pockets. Thank you, Debbie.
Thank you, Debbie I just love all your bags and have made quite a few, but this year I entered your Three Pocket Bag in the local fair. Lo, and behold, I won 1st place!!! I could not have done that without your wonderful tutorial, thank you and keep them coming.
Why, yes I did. $3.00, not sure what that is in pounds. It only cost $2 per person to enter. It's a very small local fair!!! It's called The Montour-DeLong Fair. The bag has to stay there until Saturday night, I can't wait to get it back and start using it.
Debbie, I sooo much enjoyed watching this video!!! Now when I buy fabric I'll do so with this in mind. It is such a nice idea for matching to any little dress and for gifting. I'm looking forward to creating my first one!!! Thank you.
Thank so much, Debbie. I started sewing again after 40 years because of a short-lived TV show that was on here in the U.S. that you were on featuring sewing machines and supplies and your many talents. Have missed seeing you and learning from you. I look forward to making this very cute bag and buying a couple of your books very soon. Wishing you continued success in your endeavors and much happiness.
Love, love, LOVE this bag! I've been looking for one like this forever! Thank you for another wonderful tutorial. I can't wait to make this - one for my MIL and one for me, too!
I can't believe this. I just went to our local quilt fair today with my daughter and we both loved this book and all the bags in it. I bought your book today and I log onto UA-cam tonight and you've added this tutorial! That's weird, but a nice weird. I probably shouldn't say weird, it's just amazing lol! I love your book, it's really good! I'm going to be making every bag in your book. I have a few favorites, which is hard to separate them but I'm going to do the office bag first and I also love the large zipped bag and the shopper lol. What I love the most is there are bags for everyone. I'm 51 and love them. My daughter is 26 and loves the bags. Just changing fabric and one bag can be for anyone. Thank you for another wonderful tutorial Debbie :) ps. Love your book :)
I made this bag, your tutorials are so easy to learn and listen to, you make sewing very enjoying, your animals are very cute and I love how you add the into your tutorials, this is a great bag.
Wow! Super impressive bag. I am so grateful to have found your tutorials and that you have the interest and the ability to design these patterns to be simple and straightforward for us to recreate. Making these projects has really improved both my skills and confidence as a sewer. When I finish the child’s back pack and make the large tote bag this will be next! I’m thinking I may need to expand my circle of friends otherwise I too will have lots of too lovely loft insulation!
My partner surprised me with this book recently after I saw it on hochanda! I love having a video tutorial as a reference like you have with your dressmaking patterns (I bought the complete collection!) I find it helps my confidence a little as I'm relatively new to sewing! This is definitely going to be the first bag I make from the book! Thanks Debbie! :)
Debbie I have your book and am doing just a couple of lined with wadding drawstring bags at the moment...and they are confusing me!! Yes, I am a complete novice !! I think I will have to do a couple of your other bags in the book before I tackle this one...but I WILL get there :) I have pre ordered your Vintage too. You are my complete inspiration back to sewing, I am learning such a lot from your projects on here. Thank You Sonia
I love your tuts ,easy to follow, also your voice is so very soothing. Thank you for all your help. I have R A and since I found you tutorials, I keep sewing and being happy which helps relieve my pain. Can you make a dumpling purse and teach me to line it without seems showing please.
I just finished making your 'lined, zippered tote' as amdiaper bag for my daughtern-in-law. The frontnpanel was smocked with the bows pattern and the back had and elasticized pocket. I made her a diaper changing pad with vinyl on one side with pockets for diapers and wipes attached and a thermal insulated quilted bag all of coordinated materials. I think it is quite a cute set and I hope she likes it. See how you inspire me!
Hola Debby!..Soy una fan tuya desde hace mucho tiempo!....y he aprendido mucho..y he hecho muchos bolsos!!...y me encanta.Como siempre...muy bien explicado...que parece todo tan facil!!..Saludos desde Holanda.......aunque yo soy española!
Hi Debbie this is great i have your sew brilliant bags book and was going to give this bag a go but after seeing your video sewed along with you and made it for my daughter to go back to school with and she loves it thank you for so many great sewing videos and books. lovely to see you back on youtube.
I really enjoy your tutorials, they always look so effortless, and love your voice, thanks for sharing your skills, really enjoy you, and tell others, check you out on you tube. thanks, a very neat bag!
Just finished my first purse! It turned out pretty darn well if I say so myself. Learned a few things along the way about how much my sewing machine will handle. Any way it was fun ordered one of your book and can't wait to decide what will be next. PS put pictures on my facebook page and already had one person ask if I could make her one! Color me proud of myself with a little help from my "friends"
Well done Debbie! I haven't been a fan of flaps on bags but love your efficient and simple approach to making bags. I have a lot of furniture fabric samples and think it would be fun to use. I've got everything I need, the magnetic clasps, the fabric & those wonder clips--I even have a red pail to clip them to--you're so clever. Aloha from Hawaii, chiyo
Thank you it is very nice to you to have answered me ....... In fact my English is case zero but google has improved in the translations! ! ! Another lovely bag , HOW can there be thumbs down .?? I must admit i wondered how it was going to come together but continued watching and it all became clear . Brilliant once again x

Any chance you'd be willing to share how you put a zip in the center pocket?? :D
Oh yes I would like a zip too

Thank you Debbie. I enjoy watching you. Give the baby dog a love.
Great tutorial! Just what I needed to put in a magnetic clasp and a flap on a bag. Thank you! Love how you just make it look so easy and stress free.
love her videos, straight to the point, no introductions, and love her ideas.
OMG! Now I can sew gifts for all my nieces (who happen to LOVE bags!). THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I always learn something new from you!
Made this this afternoon in between watching the royal wedding, as always fantastic instructions and really pleased with my efforts. Thanks Debbie for all your tutorials, they have boosted my confidence to try something new and challenging. Linda not Dave Simcock!
ANOTHER great bag from you again. I really love your ideas and love your work. Thank you for bringing such joy into my life watching your video's.
I made this project with a thick upholstery fabric, neutral color and added hardware for an adjustable strap. I use this as my "man bag" to carry essentials on the go. Perfect size for just a few things to carry with. I really love making your bags and have made several for gifts for friends and family.
Your man bag sounds fabulous! Glad you like the videos...
Awesome bag. Thank you for teaching us a new way to construct the lining (versus leaving an opening, turning it inside out & sewing up the seam). This is a much neater way to do this. I also like the multiple pockets! I am ready to give this one a try.
Love your tutorial. So easy to follow. Made this bag today and so proud of myself. Thank you.

Absolutely brilliant ! Going to find some fabric NOW. And I think I will buy your book. Many thanks
I love this purse. I’ve made two now. The first one was smaller than yours. I like your purse the best.
Such a cute bag! Thanks for all you do to share your talent and time!
Hello Debbie, I made this bag today. My first attempt. I just did two pockets. Thank you for a brilliant tutorial. Feeling chuffed with myself.
Been looking for a bag, this is it! I just love this. Thank you.
Love to try this but with a zipper... I have 2 of your books. The cushion one has helped loads - thank you Debbie
Love this bag! You have a wonderful way of showing us how to do things...appreciate it! I will definitely give this a try! Thank you!

I have made this from your birds and bobbins fabric. I am so pleased with my finished bag
I love it Debbie. Thank you. I hope one day I would sew like you, fast and professional.
Thank u Miss. Debbie. Now I know how to sew the inside lining of the bag. Now I can sew one. If I mess up. I'll watch ur video. lol
