Greetings from Florida, USA. Sorry about all the crazy stuff going on. Anyways, my question is, what are your coins made of? In the US, our cent is made of Zinc plated in copper. Our 10 and 25 cent pieces are copper core with nickel chrome surrounding, aka (clad). We dont really use dollar coins, but they're clad as well. Wish we had $2 coins, those seem awesome. Our coins on the equinox 600-800 are 1cent new(19-20), old pre 1982 (23-25), 10 cent 25-27, 25cents 28-30. $1 (31-32). The only odd ball is the 5 cent nickle, made of nickle, rings in at a (12-13).
Greetings and thanks for this awesome informative comment, I've pinned it as I think other viewers could find it a useful reference! We have a lot of different coins given that we had a different currency system (pre-decimal, inherited from the UK) up until the mid-1960's, when we switched to modern decimal currency. A lot of our older coins are either predominantly copper or a silver/copper mix (first 925 silver with added copper, then a 50% silver / 40% copper mix with some added zinc and tin). Copper is still the dominant metal today, our 5/10/20/50¢ are 75/25 copper/nickel, and our 'goldies' $1/$2 are 92% copper, the rest aluminium & nickel. I'll make a video on the tones and compositions sometime but wanted to get back to you first :) Happy hunting!
Thanks so much for all the support for this video - it appears that you all really enjoyed this modern coin hunt! I'll be sure to take you along for more in the near future. :)
I find a lot of modern coins , luckily found some old wheat pennies in my backyard and some silver old coins and couple a Gold Ring I m new in this field lol

serious coinage there. it is a shame when people leave their trash in parks. the village park / green ive just got permission on tends to have doggy doos left behind. in fact I leave it tidier than dog owners 🤣. another great video to watch. look forward to the next one. Happy hunting.
Cheers mate, I agree, it’s heartbreaking when people don’t have respect for such a beautiful environment. Good old doggy doos, in one of my recent videos (the homestead one) I accidentally encountered one of those with my boot. The family had a great laugh about it, but I opted to cut the footage out of the final video. 😂 happy hunting!
Just a thing I have learnt... the nox can pick up 925 thrips between 16-19. I have even found a 50% 6p at solid 18. Personally I like to keep everything on above 15 with the exception of 10 and 13 for 5s and 10s. As for no pre decimals, im sure thats due to the depth you were digging. I find all of my pre decimals around 4-6 inches deep in my 100 y.o park. Great hunt. Enjoyable to watch. Subbed! Good Luck & Happy Swingin'

I agree on the old silvers, if it were a beach I'd be running things wide open but this particular park had a lot of nasty canslaw in that range, and I didn't have my sealed gloves with me to protect the fingers. Agreed on the depth, I wanted to be careful with this location but as my digging skills improve I'll be sure to scan a little deeper. Cheers! :)

Nice going Mish. Beaut park. The scenery was nice. A detectorist in their natural environment. Good haul too. Left you a couple of 2 cent pieces in the grass where people park at Waratah bay if you are interested ;)
Hi again Mish.. have been detecting for about 30 years started in England when I was a lot lot younger and then moved to Perth 20 years ago.. Have detected many beaches with much success. You detect many parks,.. my question is am I allowed to in Perth? Obviously I repair all my holes but have had a number of people question if I should be detecting parks. Again your site is fantastic and have huge admiration for what you do.. would love the confidence to do what you do and share all my wonderful finds. Thanks again for everything Pete.
G’day Peter, I haven’t heard of any specific restrictions over your way, it’s worth a quick search through your council’s bylaws (usually available on their website) for the word ‘detecting’ just in case. But it’s generally just a case of respect the land, avoid obvious no-go zones (heritage listed places etc) and if a council worker asks you to move on, politely be on your way. Most ask what I’ve found and a quick point to your bag full of removed trash typically puts a positive spin on the conversation and I’ve never been asked to vacate. Cheers 😊
Hi Abdul, thanks for watching! There’s not always a lot of targets where I am, my area is much quieter than the cities that most UA-cam detectorists are from.. but I have fun wherever I go and that’s what is most important to me. 😊
Thanks Richard, it was perfect weather on this day, and thankfully everything is getting a little warmer here now with summer just around the corner! 😊
Hi Tim! Generally speaking I tend to run the PulseDive at full sensitivity, only if it’s giving me false signals or it’s a particularly trashy area will I turn it down (but even then I set it to 4). Hope that helps 😊
The camera work is steller Mish, great hunt, that was a lot of coins and yes you will need to go back there again. Thank you so much for the scenery it's so beautiful in your country. Steve
The thing I love the most about Australia is that we have such a varied landscape - everything from deserts to rainforests - and I can't wait to show them off to everyone in time. Can't wait to go back to that park, it's quite a distance from where I live but I do travel there on occasion. Cheers Steve!
Hi from the UK. Love the videos and the locations. I'm a scuba diver and detectorist in the UK. I like that you find sinkers all the time I made a couple of weights for my weight belt from my lead finds.
Hi there, thanks for taking the time to drop a comment! I find lead everywhere I go, even on the land, it has this habit of following me. 🤣 I’m very happy to finally be at the stage where I can recycle it into functional items such as the weights, still got 60kg or so of scrap waiting to go through the process too. Happy hunting to you 😊
Nice video again Mish 😃 parks are my favorite places to hunt in...on being tempted to get out on the beach though 🤨 what would you say to yourself if you could go back in time and give yourself some advice on your first day detecting the beach? 😃👍🏻
Wear headphones to hear the signals over the surf, invest in a decent sand scoop, and dig everything! 😜 Beaches are great for variety. Best of luck with them 😁🏝
Good to know! I haven't managed to get back to this park yet but I'm going to check on that water again in the next few months - hopefully I can time it right! Cheers.
I’m guilty of what you mentioned when I’m in a trashy park. Notch out everything except goldies and predecimals. Partly it’s because of laziness but our inland climate is very hot and dry and can only really safely dog plugs in autumn or winter because you’ll always kill the grass in your plug in late spring and summer. As a result I rarely if ever dig up ring pulls or pull tabs but screw cap bottle tops are crafty buggers and almost impossible to avoid and still catch me out. I do enjoy your appreciate when you do a park video though. I study them intently, Living 3 hours from the coast beach hunts require time off and camping overnight in the rooftop tent (or cheap motel if I can convince the wife to come along)
I like to think of park hunts as my piggy bank hunts - I know I won’t typically dig deep enough for the old stuff, so I like to hunt as efficiently as possible for spendable coins. Sometimes I’ll dig everything though - just depends on the day. Cheers 😊
Damn , I wish that park was in my "backyard" - nice and big . great haul today , I think i'm lucky when I get 1 goldy let alone that many lol. Check the centenary of federation $1 coins as sometimes they have a rotation error with the queens effigy. I have a mindset like you when it comes to detecting in parks, if my pinpointer doesn't find it then I leave it there , alot of people wouldn't but thats how i do it . I want to see you get in the river and see whats there. I doubt whether anyone has done it already. Well done Mish HH.
Thanks Deb, I didn’t know about that variation on the CoF $1 coins! I’m not sure if I still have them but I’ll rummage through and check. 😁 There are sections of this park that I could probably dig further without issue but I still get self-conscious in public areas with digging tools. Forever being cautious and courteous! 😉 I’ll keep an eye on that river each time I drive through the area and hope for clearer conditions. Happy hunting 😁
Well done Mish, funny how someone's gone to the effort to place the dream catcher lol. I'd be stuffed after 3 hours you pulled through the day like a trooper, have a great weekend ATB GL&HH Jim
It would’ve been a heck of an effort to install that dreamcatcher for sure! I usually hunt for 4hrs or so, because I can’t get out more than a few times a week. It works well but I definitely sleep soundly that night 😂 same to you Jim, happy hunting!
Sorry to bother you again mish but when you go in to your settings on the nox and you go right to the end what do you have that set to I think it goes from 1/8
Are you referring to recovery speed? I have the Equinox 600 so it only has three settings, I generally have it set to either 2 or 3. There's a really good video which explains the pros and cons of tweaking this setting here, in fact I recommend this whole video series. Hope it helps! ua-cam.com/video/U6qJ77I77CQ/v-deo.html
Internal battery yes, I think by memory the battery life is meant to be 10hrs or similar, the only ever time I’ve had one go flat turned out to be a defect (the control pod was replaced under warranty). I always charge them back up after a hunt so it has never been an issue for me 😄
@@DirtFishMish I would make he effort for that park. Needs to be hit multiple times. Go slow. Use six inch coil. Also heard you in the metal detecting pod cast today. How did I miss that too?
@@DirtFishinDave I don't think it's you missing everything, I've just been a busy lady! lol. Yeah I'm keen to order a long handled Tyger Digger first I reckon, so I've got a bit more oomph to break through the clay (the car I found was in rock-solid ground). But then yes... game on. :)
Cheers Steve, I appreciate it! I have no idea where that is so definitely not there 😂 I typically do not disclose a location if it is somewhere I intend to revisit, or if it is local to me. I'm sure there are many more hidden gems like this around Australia though :)
I have the same problem with my Equinox in the USA when i get 12 its the signal for a nickle but that is also beer bottle tops and pull tabs so i miss out on nickles a lot. When i do find them I am excited. Your lucky to have coins that are over a dollar that is common here in the US best i usually get is a quarter.
I remember telling someone that I’d get too excited digging coins in the US, the quarters ring up in a similar range to some of our older silver coins and pennies. There’s a lot of overlap with good/bad targets for sure 😊 thanks for watching, Ryan!
Thank you! The Equinox is a brilliant coin and relic detector, I’ve been very happy with mine and you’ll see me using it in a lot of different environments. 😁
I do enjoy watching your hunt as I am a new hunt to of myself so all the ideas and tips I can get is great and I would like to see more aunts you do it even if you going to swim I would like to see that !
Thanks Ray, I've done a few underwater hunts, there's a playlist of them on the main page of my channel near the bottom. This water has remained murky at this site unfortunately but I will keep checking on it! Cheers.
Hey, Mish! Next time you think about leaving your digging tool in the car, remember this - the tool you need is always the one you left behind. I learned that a long ago since I ride a motorcycle everyday. If it looks like it's going to rain and I put my rain gear on, it doesn't rain. If it is clear and sunny, and I leave my rain gear at home, it will inevitably rain later that day. The life of a biker.... I know it rains a lot where you live so I imagine you have to make those decisions as well - "Do I take my rain gear? Do I travel light and risk it? Do I need this tool? Do I need the larger and heavier coil? Am I going in the water? Where are my floaties?" Yes, Mish, I know you have to make those tough decisions because you like to keep it light and maneuverable. I'm just going to put this out there, but one day when you get really famous and need a tool caddy, and gear and equipment porter, I am submitting my application and resume. You'll never be wanting for a tool ever again. Tyger Blade or Cub? I got them both. I can also take your B-roll video for documentary purposes. Looking forward to your next adventure! Later, friend!
The hardest hunts to pack for are the ones along the shoreline, because I never truly know if I’m going to get in the water or not. And there’s a whole lot of gear to choose from these days - even though I’ve simplified my choice of detectors! Hubby used to have similar dilemmas when he had his bike, also since sold off. 😊 Cheers mate!
nice collection of coins reminds me of how our parks used to be in the 70s freezing over here at the moment and on lock down so cant get out have subd you ,good luck on the next hunt and stay safe best wishes ,,,pat
Hi there Pat, thanks for subscribing! I definitely got lucky with this park - being from a rural area means I don’t typically get the foot traffic that metro hunters get, but at least I get some nice long walks when I hunt. 😂 Thanks for watching.
Don't get those curled up white grubs mixed up with witchety grubs you will not like it LOL. I envy you your ability to squat down to dig. If I did that I would require fire and rescue to untangle me and unfold me.. You had fun.
hehe, thanks for coming along on the adventures! I get this feedback a lot. I carry a LOT of filming gear on these adventures so it's a case of taking the bare minimum I need to achieve my detecting goals for the day, I can always clean up finds after a hunt. Cheers :)
I always have such fun joining you on your hunts. So many things to learn! A few questions: What are those birds with the beautiful voices? About how old is the eucalyptus tree that you showed us?
Hello Susan, thank you so much! :) I'm not the best at bird identification as I couldn't see them, possibly a Grey Shrike, we also get bellbirds and lyrebirds around this area which sound equally lovely. As for the eucalyptus, the rough rule of thumb is that their trunk diameter in cm is equivalent to their years of age - so at a guess, well over 100yrs old! One can only imagine how many people have sat under it to watch the world go by...
Can you do a video on your pinpointing technique your like a ninja pulling out coins using that probe thing you have leaving a tiny hole and little damage. If it was me I would dig a crater and it still would be in the side.
You only see the good digs! ha ha... I'm still a novice at it, but I'll try to show the technique off in future videos. It definitely takes longer to retrieve a target with that method than digging a plug but it's almost unnoticeable afterwards. Cheers Ciaran!
@@DirtFishMish Yes I know Australia nice country, but sometimes it is too hot over there 🔥 Few days ago wee hade -20 C in place I leave, snow and freasing fealds, no chance to go outside and metal detecting 😔
I've checked on it a few times since when driving through the area and it has sadly remained this murky, hopefully one day I'll get lucky!! I do want to hunt the land here again though! Cheers Jillian. :)
Thanks Pat! I’ve only been able to check on this place once since this video, it’s still quite murky unfortunately but I might try another land hunt here sometime as well. Cheers 😊

Detectorist’s rule of thumb: always leave a place in as good or better condition that when you found it. People will build a positive association with the hobby when they see us caring for the ground and removing the trash also. 😊 Thanks Jeffrey!

I'm sure you noticed long ago that my comments tend to run a little long.....sorry. But let me tell you what I do when I watch your videos. I make notes in the comment section as I'm watching to remind myself what to write later. I delete some and expound on others. The following are some of the notes I made on this video. "Ah, well. Things we do for the hobby, huh?" "I'm finding all the beach targets in a park!" The Matchbox Ford Corsair 45 series came with a little green boat that could be mounted on the roof rack of the car. "People are annoying." 28 dollars! You made coffee money and some left over for a bucket of cookies! I really wanted to talk about the car most of all, but then when I could sense your very real and palatable frustration when you have to clean up after others... I get frustrated too. I've made it very clear to you in other comments, that I prefer to work alone and I enjoy hobbies that are a one-person activity, not because I don't like people, but because sometimes I just need a break from them. When the weather here gets warmer, I really do intend on looking seriously into getting a quality rig. The peace I see it offers you is drawing me in. The frustration of dealing with others....well, I can learn things from your videos - pick it up and move on. As always, Mish, looking forward to your next adventure.
hehe, I make notes in the comments box while I’m watching a video as well! My grey matter doesn’t remember what I was thinking twenty minutes earlier, so I have to jot down the thoughts as I go. 😂 I’m getting excited for you stepping into this hobby my friend. Cheers 😊
I’d really like to see a water 💦 hunt I’ve been thinking of getting the to try one myself but i have trouble holding my breath in the shower but i will try!
I’m slowly evolving my wading hunts to the point where I’m snorkelling in them. I still haven’t had a chance to get back to this particular river to check it 🙁 but at least I know if the river isn’t suitable, I’ve got a good chance of finding some coins. Cheers Phillip!
Wow that is a lot of coins. Wish the US had 2dollar coins. I would love to see you detect the river, just watch out for glass and metals. Thank you for the fun video. ♥♥♥
Thanks D! Yes we are quite lucky to have $2 coins - they're very handy due to their small size. I'll have to go back there to excavate some more of them - and hopefully the river will be calmer/clearer on that day. Cheers! :)
My impatience knows no bounds 😂 I didn’t have all of my usual equipment with me as I was travelling, I do have a spray bottle though admittedly I rarely make use of it. I’ll work on that 😉 Cheers!
@@jcramond73 smh, that spray bottle bs is for dramatic effect only. I skip videos like that. Any coin you find buried in the ground is not going to be worth anything more than face or metal value anyhow.

I find lead everywhere I go, even on the land, it has this habit of following me. 🤣 I’m very happy to finally be at the stage where I can recycle it into functional items such as the weights, still got 60kg or so of scrap waiting to go through the process too. Happy hunting to you 😊
Looks like so much fun. Currently saving up for an Equinox 800.
It is great for the mind and body. I use a 600 in these videos (I’ll upgrade eventually) 😊
Best of luck with them 😁🏝
@@DirtFishMish thanks 🙂👍🏻
Love to watch water hunting.count me in.
Good to know! I haven't managed to get back to this park yet but I'm going to check on that water again in the next few months - hopefully I can time it right! Cheers.
Awesome hunt mate ! 👍🏴☠️
Cheers Jay, glad you liked it! :)
There are sections of this park that I could probably dig further without issue but I still get self-conscious in public areas with digging tools. Forever being cautious and courteous! 😉
I’ll keep an eye on that river each time I drive through the area and hope for clearer conditions. Happy hunting 😁
Well done Mish, funny how someone's gone to the effort to place the dream catcher lol.
I'd be stuffed after 3 hours
you pulled through the day like a trooper, have a great weekend
ATB GL&HH Jim
It would’ve been a heck of an effort to install that dreamcatcher for sure!
I usually hunt for 4hrs or so, because I can’t get out more than a few times a week. It works well but I definitely sleep soundly that night 😂 same to you Jim, happy hunting!
Awesome spendable haul.
I love you and I love your movies. Good luck 🤞
Cheers Noun!
@@DirtFishMish hi yes I was and I have the 800 I just watched the video you sent and it was very helpful thank you mish
Love your presentations Mish, best on UA-cam.
Thank you so much Paul 😊
Awesome video Mish, dreamcatcher was great but how did they get it up there I had to ask myself.
It would’ve been quite the risky operation I’d imagine, not something I’d be game to do myself! Thanks Jimmy 😊
Enjoyed it, how is the battery life on yours and hubby's machine? Internal battery I assume. Can you change it out?
Internal battery yes, I think by memory the battery life is meant to be 10hrs or similar, the only ever time I’ve had one go flat turned out to be a defect (the control pod was replaced under warranty). I always charge them back up after a hunt so it has never been an issue for me 😄
How did i miss this video? Lovely park...
Thanks mate, absolute ripper of a location, I'm very keen to go back the next time I travel that way!
But then yes... game on. :)
Yes river hunting!
Great hunt Mish.
Thanks so much man! :)
Awesome video 😀 I can't wait to got today
Best of luck with your hunt today! Thanks for dropping in! :)
Nice haul of $$.
I can't wait to get back there! :)
I find those tarp eyes everywhere to
Always enjoy your videos Mish . This park looks like the back of Kelmscott?
Congrats! We are probably buying this detector next...so it's good to hear that you are having success:)
Thank you! The Equinox is a brilliant coin and relic detector, I’ve been very happy with mine and you’ll see me using it in a lot of different environments. 😁
Hey Mish, another great video, very relaxing to watch.
Thanks Duncan, I was in love with this place, it’s so peaceful!
Cheers.
Hi
What pointer do you use?
Thanks
Hi Darren, it’s a Nokta Makro pulsedive. 😊
Oh right
I use the basic Nokta pinpointer, thinking about the dive as it will couple with my Simplex wireless headphones, do you rate the pointer?
Cheers mate!
looks like a nice spot great park , good coin hunt that one :)
Cheers bud! Gorgeous place, I travel near it sometimes so I’ll definitely revisit.
Awesome hunt you killed the goldies congrats. Look forward to the next video 👍👍🍺🍺
Cheers mate, I reckon we should do a hunt like this next time I’m over your way!
@@DirtFishMish let me know and if i am home and not away for work i would be up for that 👍
Awesome hunt mish, great to find all those spendables, i'd love to do some river hunts in the future, cheers
Yeah I definitely need to get the hang of them, they’re a lot of fun! Hopefully with clearer water though 😂
Thanks! Realistic, nice video. The look is a big plus that a beautiful lady detects. I love you.
Glad you enjoyed the hunt, cheers. :)
nice collection of coins reminds me of how our parks used to be in the 70s freezing over here at the moment and on lock down so cant get out have subd you ,good luck on the next hunt and stay safe best wishes ,,,pat
CARAGUATATUBA SP BRASIL ASSISTINDO.....
Nice work mish 👌
Cheers Flippa! I hear you may be catching up with a certain David Attenborough-sounding mate of ours soon! ;)
@@DirtFishMish haha yeah should be good 👍
Such a great location great hunt!
Thanks mate, it was so peaceful there, can’t wait to see it again sometime!
as I am just joining into metaldetecting and enjoying all your video's immensely.... I am a bid late in saying... you need a brush Mish😉👍
hehe, thanks for coming along on the adventures!
@@DirtFishMish I shall look up those birds, and know something new. The lyrebird is familiar; it's beautiful!
Wow! That's alot a money :) beats my 8 bucks but found in a little playground so not bad
Hey that’s a pretty good run! 😄
I thought 💭 you were going to eat that grub for minute
Noooooope! lol
Nice vids, greatings from Lithuania.
Thanks! Greetings back from sunny Australia. 😊🐨
@@DirtFishMish Yes I know Australia nice country, but sometimes it is too hot over there 🔥
Few days ago wee hade -20 C in place I leave, snow and freasing fealds, no chance to go outside and metal detecting 😔
@@metalost6016 -20! Brrrrr! Well I hope our Australian sunshine makes you smile, hopefully soon you can detect again. :)

Hello to you too! :)
Show , show show 🇧🇷
Hunt that creek!
I've checked on it a few times since when driving through the area and it has sadly remained this murky, hopefully one day I'll get lucky!! I do want to hunt the land here again though! Cheers Jillian. :)
What a great hunt brotha hh
Cheers mate, I'm so keen to get back there now that I know the areas to concentrate on! Happy hunting.
Jeeej, I guessed the car date 1950 😊
Good work!! :)
Like your videos, keep it up & yes want to see u go back & check out river.
Thanks Pat! I’ve only been able to check on this place once since this video, it’s still quite murky unfortunately but I might try another land hunt here sometime as well. Cheers 😊
Mish you done well i'd like ta do a few parks around my place but the son inlaw says i cant he runs the local depot but i'v decided what he dont know wont hurt him
Detectorist’s rule of thumb: always leave a place in as good or better condition that when you found it. People will build a positive association with the hobby when they see us caring for the ground and removing the trash also. 😊 Thanks Jeffrey!
@@DirtFishMish ALLWAY"S mate allways
✌🏼 nice
Cheers! 😁
Hamish I thought I lost you someone messed up my phone I had to get a new phone and all the new contacts and everything else so that’s one thing I didn’t want to do is miss your rug videos OK mush be good be safe
Glad you're still here, Susan :)
I'm sure you noticed long ago that my comments tend to run a little long.....sorry. But let me tell you what I do when I watch your videos. I make notes in the comment section as I'm watching to remind myself what to write later. I delete some and expound on others. The following are some of the notes I made on this video.
"Ah, well. Things we do for the hobby, huh?"
"I'm finding all the beach targets in a park!"
The Matchbox Ford Corsair 45 series came with a little green boat that could be mounted on the roof rack of the car.
"People are annoying."
28 dollars!
Cheers 😊
Hello!
Hey there, Dug! 😁
Cheers! :)
A small tip, try not to rub your finds, use a water spray bottle.
My impatience knows no bounds 😂 I didn’t have all of my usual equipment with me as I was travelling, I do have a spray bottle though admittedly I rarely make use of it. I’ll work on that 😉 Cheers!
@@DirtFishMish lol, I know how you feel :P
@@jcramond73 smh, that spray bottle bs is for dramatic effect only. I skip videos like that. Any coin you find buried in the ground is not going to be worth anything more than face or metal value anyhow.
ye till a bird gets caught up in it
Nice hunt I like hunting parks got a 187??? Seated dime today my buddy is on UA-cam Dave Evers he’s been filming our hunts check him out
Well done Mark, that’s awesome! I’ll stop by that channel at some stage 😊
Don't you have Crocks .
Nope, I live in way too cold a region for them. They are mostly along the northern coast of Australia and I'm on the southern end :)
I’d like to see how you go on a water hunt 🛀
