our local lakes haven't had any real ice this year 2024 is a disappointment, unless we drive 3 hours north. Good to see someone getting out there. Btw, go to your local drug store and pick up a tube of polysporin; the kind with 3 types of antibiotic in it; whenever you catch a fish with an open wound, or if you hooked it bad, just smear some of this stuff into the wound, and it will really help that fish to heal up. I use this on aquarium fish when they get hurt, and I can see how fast this stuff works.
Dude, @16:12, my jaw and my heart dropped 😖😖😖 never seen that before, sorry you lost that pole. Other than that, great video, I love watching the strikes
thanks Kyle, loved the video. I'll watch for your rod once the ice opens. I shared your video with a couple of fish biologists. They too think that the lesion is NOT black crappie sarcoma. Stay safe! Dave
Kyle that so of the best camera work I’ve seen. The two in one screen with rod and underwater footage was cool. When the pike grad the line I was laughing. You said “ you try to learn” well you learn to keep a closer eye on your rod. lol stay safe out there.
I love catch and release videos. Makes me sad to see a huge pile of nice breeder fish getting eaten basically for fun. I mean I know the economy is rough but let’s do our best to preserve the fishery for years to come
Don't feel bad. I lost a couple poles thru the ice. Can't be at every hole. I saw that coming. I'm like hurry get to the pole. Oh well!! Enjoyed the video. Keep up the great work. 👍💯🤓
Glad you got out Kyle. We're at 10 inches on a back bay of a flowage here in Rhinelander. They were nuts for Rosie's and pink beaver tails today over the basin.
Its crazy to say that ice season is pretty much over by late February. Usually this is when the ice is in it's best condition, at 16 inches thick. Come next sunday, majority of lakes will no longer have safe ice to fish. Nonetheless, open water will be upon us before we know it. Hoping to see some stream trout fishing from you!
My tip down stands have a long front leg for that reason. Haven't lost 1 yet... Yet. Although i have had a friend using a tip up ( cheap plastic short board) slide into the tip up and knock it into the hole... Damn 10" holes are nice when kids and equipment don't go down them
Had a pike do that to me in north Dakota. I was in a shack and literally turned around to grab a sandwich. Lure resting on bottom and something ( probably a pike) grabbed it and took off with my rod
That was funny

Thanks Jason! It happens..
Kyle!!!!!!! Oh to late Pal.
Hahah right!!
Awesome video. If you use incredibly small minnows with tiny hooks you will get those 9” bluegills. It works for me.
Right on! I had a tiny hook and I think that’s why I missed so many when I changed it to a bigger one then they got hooked
Great video! That sucks, but it happens. All you can do is laugh, accidents happen to everyone.
Thanks!

Where do you get those tip downs?
they are called custom tip downs llc
That's a cool blend type edit that was on the tip down footage! Too bad about the rod, but it was pretty cool footage, at least!😂
What county has 2 inches?
It was a small lake with a little flow Washburn co but another lake last night had 12” in Washburn
Dam pike lol. Awesome vid.
Was I the only one shouting, "Kyle, grab the rod!"? Would have been fun to see if you could have landed it on that pole.
yeah i'm sure it would have snapped with no reel or drag but you never know
Is that a homemade tip down? If not, whi I'd the manufacturer?
Custom tip downs llc: is the make
I’m jealous, no safe ice in central New York

fishing is fishing, to bad you didn't get your rod
❤️🎣
Probably the most disappointing ice fishing season I've ever experienced. But maybe spring will be better fishing wise.
