  • Technology can be a pain in the neck! If you have neck pain or tension, this self-massage is for you.
    The hunched over posture so prevalent nowadays is developed and exacerbated as we round forward over our phones, tablets, and computers. We end up with our shoulders rounded, heads forward, and necks extended. This posture puts our necks in a compromised position that places strain on our muscles, including the sternocleidomastoid (SCM), erector spinae, suboccipitals, levator scapulae, splenius capitis, and upper trapezius.
    A study found that, of all the activities we do on our phones, texting is the most detrimental for the neck.
    Follow along with me as we use great-feeling self-massage to alleviate neck pain and tension, and improve alignment. You’ll learn easy myofascial and active release techniques that you can use when you have neck pain or discomfort, as well as throughout the day to prevent pain and injuries and keep your neck healthy!

    You're a miracle worker. I discovered your channel yesterday with a short version of the neck pain and tension from 2015 and it was AMAZING. Then I saw this one and did it as well. Both did an incredible job; I have a small hernia on C6 (or C5, I never remember which one) and adding to my workout (quite smooth) my neck is always in pain. I just came from 2 very hard weeks with 4 massage sessions.
    I'm so glad I found your channel; you are so nice on your videos and doing well to so many people. Thank you so so much!

    This is why I moved to speech to text. That way I can hold my neck up straight. I’m not even typing this comment! But I could always do with a neck massage due to other stressors etc. So thank you.
    I hope you’re doing a lot better now too?

    Love the messages, but they do make my arm pretty sore. I love the shorter clips even more!

      I'll be sure to do some more short videos. You can also take one or two of your favorite techniques and do them on short breaks throughout the day, rather than practicing the whole video at once.

    This is another truly special gift to me Rachel, thank you very much for your help! I started to be conscious about having a forward head posture a few years ago. I think it started during my teen years as for insecurity and low self-confidence. Personally I noticed that it also helps a lot to take care when we we're walking on how we distribute our weight

      Glad you like it, Matteo! And you're right - the way we walk can effect upper body alignment, and vice versa.

    I'm finding myself leaving a comment on every video of yours. You're really really good! Thanks a lot for helping all of us.
    Is it okay that I'm combining a couple of your videos and doing them together?

    Wow! This massage is amazing, thank you! I have osteochondrosis, hyper-movable vertebrae and bad anxiety, so I have frequent and severe headaches and neck pains. This massage helped a lot! How often can I repeat it during the day?

    • @rachelrichardsmassage9660
      @rachelrichardsmassage9660  2 роки тому +2

      So glad it helps, Daria! If once a day is helping, try doing it twice a day, and see if that increases the benefits. You can also try doing a few different techniques here and there throughout the day. If you feel like your neck is getting irritated, just back off a bit.

    WOW!! You are a God sent. I had a headache before starting and I now I feel great! Thanks so much for what you do. Are there any massager that would help Myofascial release around the neck that you'd recommend?

    • @rachelrichardsmassage9660
      @rachelrichardsmassage9660  Рік тому +1

      I'm so glad it was helpful! Are you asking about a massage tool? It's a bit tricky with the neck, because it's such a delicate area. You could try a massage or lacrosse ball either against the wall or lying down face up, but you'll want to learn how to use it properly first.

    • @bernardnader
      @bernardnader Рік тому

      @@rachelrichardsmassage9660 Awesome! Thanks. Do you have a video showing how to use the lacrosse balls? Thanks so much. You’re AMAZING!
