It's absolutely insane how this album keeps on getting better and better with every listen. But all of her albums are like that to me, though. My top 5 on this album are Heaven, The Deal, When Memories Snow, I Love Me After You and I Don't Like My Mind. All songs to me are 10/10 so it's rly hard to pick 5!

This video is a few months old but something I just discovered about the drums at the end of The Deal are to sound like a bird thrashing around in its cage which I found really interesting.

If you want music outside of country that utilizes the lap steel, i cannot recommend Faye Webster enough. If i could describe her use of it, its used as if the music is crying with her! Great great great reaction as always btw, i can always count on you tell me the most genius interpretation of the song possible.
I really love how The Frost feels like an “old style” song of reflection that you might hear from a traveling performer. Kind of somber in a country ballad way. Love it more every time. So much of Mitski's music is about music and her relationship to the industry itself, and as much as this album feels a bit separate from that, I think on maybe my 7th or 8th listen it occurred to me that "I'm Your Man" could be about her relationship to the public as an artist and oh BOY did that change the listen. My top five are I'm Your Man, I Love Me After You, Heaven, The Deal, and I Don't Like My Mind!
That's where my mind went to immediately while listening to Im your Man. It just feels SO connected to her career, her break from touring and rumors of quitting music. To me this album is for SURE atleast partially about her career

To me the song felt very domestic and calm. I do think the first part could refer to sex, but the coffee thing just gives me a very specific image of a married couple sitting on the porch watching the sunrise and sipping coffee. But ya perspective can really differ
