"i believe" is dedicated to Sophie and this fact breaks my heart so much every time i listen it💔
I KNEW it had something to do with her. It just sounds so much like her, and I knew there was a reason I loved it
Sophie was just someone I was getting into. Their final CD was brilliant. I had it on repeat. It saddens me that we won't be hearing more from someone that gifted. It's good to know they have inspired others.
Oh shoot I think you're right! I remember really thinking this was Oil of Every Pearl's Un-Insides Part 2 crossed with pang and trip hop from the 90s.

this album is soooo good, very experimental and adventurous which is definitely not for everyone but it’s definitely become my one of my favs of all time
I've been following Caroline since her Chairlift days and I'm just obsessed with where she's at right now. I'm in love with everything she's doing, lyrics, sounds, visuals, she's such a complete artist. I can't really choose between Pang and this álbum, they're both perfect.

Yes the entire songs is like a classy ethereal song about sex, the way she says Billions in the second chorus and almost moans it, and the broken yet connected lines especially “salty flavour, lies like a sailor but he loves like a painter” lol

Obsessed with this video, it made me even more excited about the album. Caroline is really the unhinged fairy nymph tropical rustic blueprint that we needed in our lives!!!!

This album reminds me SO much of Imogen Heap. A lot of the vocals and beats on this album could fit in nicely on Imogen’s “Speak For Yourself” album!

Love this album 10/10. As I was listening to it over and over, the main hook melody from Pretty in Possible is interpolated in Smoke for the bridge. Insane ear for production!🤯❤
I loved Pang, and was so eager to see what Desire had in store; it’s even more amazing than I had hoped. 🖤 Getting this record and Ocean Blvd in this same season feels so special.

Obsessed with the album 💞💛 also if you need something else that's crazy to listen to would love to see you react to Holly Herndon's PROTO album. The only other artist that blew my mind like she did was Arca. Very experimental and futuristic sounding.
I feel like you'd be interested to know that the first verse (grimes' part) in Fly To You is the same melody as the bagpipe solo at the end of Blood and Butter :)

Billions is the best of the best songs in the album and EVERY SONG is the best on the album.

This album is phenomenal. This will most likely be in my top 5 albums of the year, is not top 3. My personal favorites are Crude Drawing of An Angel, I Believe, Fly To You and Butterfly Net. They all have something special to keep me coming for more.

So sad that everyone totally loves the album but it just didn’t work for me. Beautiful voice and creative instrumentals, but something about the effects on her vocals or something threw me off the entire album.
Really? I personally loved it but each to their own. If your not a big fan of the crazy sound effects but still love her voice listen to her album Arcadia. (Released under her alias Ramona Lisa) that has a lot more acoustic elements to it.😊
But the effects are actually just her normal voice, although ppl mistaken it for auto tune all the time, it’s actually a form of vocal flipping
I really love "Welcome to my island", "Sunset" and "Billions", but the rest...
It is just strange and kind of structureless / weird in my opinion.

She is a industry darling and an artists artist which helps I think there is some very clever stuff going on which people miss, but what do I know.

Multiple times because I wanted to love it, but it is really difficult to listen to it at once because it's kind of "unnormal".
"Pang" is so much better and have more personality and quality, I really love the ethereal approach of it, it suits her so much more.

I also thought it was structureless at first, but it clicked for me on my second listen. Although there’s so many styles they have a thread that ties them together, also thematically everything ties into “Welcome to my islands” idea of this escapist world. The entire album really feels like an insane island where she did “forget the rule, forget the friends, just you and your affection”. Either way, you picked very good songs to love, I hope the rest of the album comes around for you!
