😘😘😘
i think mitski's background of going to conservatory and being classically trained comes through so much in her melodies and chord choices. truly the embodiment of learning the rules so that you can break them
Oh wow yeah you can hear that!
mitski is my fav lyricist ever. everytime she is interviewed and asked about the meaning of her songs, her explanations are always *chefs kiss*. she's very eloquent. please continue reacting to her.
I'll have to look up those vids!
@@Luscentalso on the track pink of the night. it's amazing how she twisted the usual meaning of "and i hear my heart breaking tonight." she said something like how people usually associate that to lonely heartbreaks but in the song, she meant it in a way that, have you been so inlove with someone that when you see him, you feel yourself shattering inside? but like in a romantic way and not in a sad way, and i think that's so cool
In "Nobody" I really like the change of the lyric from "one good honest kiss" to "one good movie kiss." To me, it symbolizes that eventually she doesn't even care if the kiss is part of a real relationship, if the other person actually loves her, she just so desperately longs for a kiss, even if it is a fake "Hollywood" kiss.
I totally recommend you do an entire mitski journey! It wouldn't be that long given there's only 4 albums left, and i think you should do puberty 2 next! Listen to her discography backwards so you can see how she's grown and evolved
Ok cool!
@@Luscentshe announced her 7th album 2 days ago, (The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We) and released a single (Id recommend listening to that single after everything else cuz you can hear her growth and maturity in the song over/after all the other albums.)
Side note- epic ass reaction😌🤞🏼-
I love how you picked up on the façades throughout because mitski explained in an interview that the ‘cowboy’ represents the outside presentation of confidence and power that this type of character tries to have. She endeavours to ‘be the cowboy’ in the sense that she puts up this wall of almost cartoonish confidence despite her emotional turmoil and vulnerability. Ultimately she can’t fully embody this archetype because it’s idealised, but she still takes it and channels it into the construction of the album as a whole. Loved the reaction!!
Ah amazing yeah that all adds up!
Yesss, i love this explanation. Plus, the cowboy metaphor is even stronger if you consider that it represents a very masculine and American ideal, both of which Mitski has struggled to conform to as woman and as a first gen asian American. Those themes are very present throughout her discography, especially at her single Your Best American Girl
@@eduardosilveira6974 this was such a good addition thank you!! Mitski never fails to construct such a vivid picture of what she wants to convey and that’s what I love about her. Btw what u do think of tliiasaw now that its been released? 🫶
I’m getting so emotional watching your Mitski videos! I can’t tell you how much it means to me to hear someone really break down, understand, and appreciate her the way I do. She’s just my musical soulmate and your reactions bring me so so much joy!! 🩷
Mitski was a cinema (or something like that, I can't quite remember) major before starting to make music! That's why her songs have such good production, she takes a more cinematographic view on music.
Also her MVs are PERFECT!!! Please react to the MV of Happy it's just awesome.
Oh amazing!
luscent entering his mitski era and it's been a long time coming!!!!!
I'm here and ready!!
you’re going to absolutely love Puberty 2 - one of her best records lyrically and a lot more sonically cohesive than Be the Cowboy (and is my favourite album of hers overall)
like i'm soooooooooooo excited
Ok amazing 🤩
i remember when i saw her live last year (one of the best experierences of my life) she playes two slow dancers as an encore and it was so silent in there you could hear a pin drop
mitski has one of, if not, my fav discography. i love all of her albums!
This is my favorite Mitski album because it's such a unicorn in terms of song structure, melodies and it's sonically all over the place but I love that about it , it's an experience, the textures are unique too, it jumps from spacious and airy to harsh and in your face ❤her vocals are also mixed with this slap delay that gives really indie rock but musically its a melting pot of genres
Geyser is one of the best songs on the album I can’t believe it’s so underrated 😔
Oh I LOVE it
Mitski writes albums in 2s, laurel hell and be the cowboy were pop-based, the two before that were rock and then before that piano/orchestral, so if you continue down the Mitski rabbit hole it'll be interesting to see which of her sounds you gravitate most towards. I think her versatility with genres is one of the best features of her music
I would 100% watch a whole "series" of you reacting to Mitski's other albums! I also would recommend another artist that is in my opinion in the same realm as Mitski musically and lyrically : Japanese Breakfast. Her albums Soft Sounds From Another Planet and Jubilee are absolute masterpieces and I think you'd enjoy them a lot!
finally!!! a mitski album reaction!
Lush is her best album most artpoppy argue wuth the wall
FINALLY. I'M SO GLAD YOU DID THIS
I've been waiting for more mitski yes!!!
Glad i'm not the only one who absolutely jumped out of my seat when i heard the geyser intro for the first time
hahahaa ikr!
Youre one of the few “reacters” of Mitski that I really appreciate. Hope you like the new album!
Cant wait for you to hear Makeout Creek, its my personal fav album of hers its so raw and emotional.
Wow, i just love how you interperate songs, you notice things i would never notice, great reaction!
aw thanks!
BLUE WEEKEND IN THE BACKGROUND OMG!!
Oh it's one of my favourite albums ever ❤️
Bury Me At Makeout Creek and Puberty 2 are her best albums swear ong
Thanks! Because … 😜
damn mama u a rare breed no comparing and its mfn scaryy❤️❤️😍
🥹🥹🥹 Michele you're the best ❤
Dayum 10p dollars? You are a good person for that
100
for me, "old friend" is about a situationship she had with a female friend, maybe in highschool or college, and they weren't out yet, that's why it had to be a secret. very universal queer experience to just be like "ok I'll take anything you want to give me cause I'm lonely and i love you, whether you want to be just old friends or marry me" you know? and maybe it's one of those things like "ok let's pretend nothing happened and just have coffee like we're old friends"
i love the be the cowboy sound but i would say it may be last in my ranking of her albums! still amazing though so i’m sure you will be pleasantly surprised with her previous ones
PLEASE LISTEN TO RETIRED FROM SAD NEW CAREER IN BUSINESS OR LUSH
Two slow dancer was the prefect song to end the album
Yeah it really is!
