My favorite parts are when Newt meets a new creature. None act in the same way and it is interesting how Newt must manage to overcome these creatures using his knowledge and not using magic.
I don't even know why it's called 'Fantastic Beasts'. It should have been called "Poor retelling of Grindelwald's downfall with some animals on the side" You know what would have been absolutely incredible and a pure powermove by Warner Bros? A magical documentary. Maybe a sappy romance comedy snuck in to appease the easily wooed fans of Harry Potter, but primarily a documentary showcasing Newt's adventures around the world and his study and encounters with said 'Fantastic Beasts'.
Am I the only one that’s going to acknowledge how brutal/violent and terrifying it was when that thing killed somebody? Hats off to WB for not being afraid to put a scene like that into this sort of movie
2:54 LOL I love how Newt doesn't even try to soften the fall for him... the main thing is for him to get it done quickly and Theseus also just accepts it & doesn't blame him for it... distractions can only last so long he knows I guess as an Auror! No one could stop laughing in the theater when Newt got into that position much less the Limbic Mimicry! 🤣 Once that limb appeared it got quite quiet. And then back to hysterics seeing both brothers do it and the "I'm swiveling like you're swiveling." 🤣

I feel like no ones talking about how brutal a death that is. Like. you're hanging upside down who knows how long, then a Light pole sized barb gores you through the stomach and violently yanks you into a pit where you get your flesh presumable striped away and your skeleton left for the babies... like, I know there's worse out there, but it's not at all a great way to go.
To be frank lots of deaths in harry potter are pretty brutal if you think about it, this school has legendary low security standards considering it's filled with deadly traps and monsters
To be fair, this is the first and only time Newt’s weird zoology stuff actually translated well to screen. That mating dance, in the Central Park Zoo, was cringeworthy. While, the second film was just random nonsense, so WB could sell toys.

The species was also viciously unstable as each specimen killed one another until only a few remained. I love how Dumbledore choose people speciality strategically: - Newt Scamander passion and knowledge of magical creatures allows him to figure out some dangerous creatures habits and handling of them without harming them - Theseus Scamander: an Auror and veteran of world war 1. He is more than capable to duel many different wizards and lead a small group of wizards to attack - Eulalie “Lally” Hicks: her charms skills and dueling skills are top notch as she creatively use her environment to beat her enemies - Jacob Kowalski: the wild card and distraction of the group. He is the key to getting Queenie back to the light side of the fight
Absolutely one of my favorite scenes by far. The tiny ones are just the cutest and they're even looking down and over when someone gets got, mimicking Newt as he looks over, though they're looking over for dinner.
Newt's and Theseus's sibling interaction was the best thing in this movie, (deleted scene included), wish we got more of that, and more of the fantastic beasts we should have gotten like in this scene.
I really thought Fantastic Beasts was gonna be about Newt's adventures with his magical beast encounters protecting them from dark wizards only to be disappointed that he became basically a side character in the future movies and the plot is about Dumbledore's war with his ex boyfriend. Newt was a such a great and potential protagonist in the wizard world
Love this scene. The actors were fantastic. Such emotion and drive! Such elegance and grace! You can really tell those scorpions enjoyed their role. Too bad they couldnt make the wooden puppets they copied anymore believable.

In the lore, centaurs are said to stay as far from humans as possible, and the reaction towards the atrocities committed by the giants in the war implies that there likely weren't any survivors of their attacks. Giants aren't magical, at all, so there couldn't be any magic cloaking them. False reports in this case are likely due to trauma, and the brain rationalising what you believe to be impossible as being something else. It's quite an interesting idea though, reminds me of the Mist from the PJO series~
The *second* I saw Newt take the stance, I laughed. And the way he walked made me laugh even harder to the point I missed the gruesome death scene. I just…I just couldn’t with this scene! I tried! Honest!
We were all laughing loud during this scene .. the cinema was full, and we were all having fun and enjoying our time .. thank you for the amazing movie and story (and memories) ❤ we love the characters
Newt was definitely on the spectrum. He was uncomfortable with eye contact, didn't particularly like many people and found animals/creatures much more appealing as companions.
I highly agree and one common trait of the spectrum is that autistic people are able to move in unique ways. Therefore Newt was able to demonstrate this as a strategy which was also hilarious but representative

I remember watching this scene and not being able to fathom how Eddie was able to do this with a straight face. I also thought Theseus died and paused the movie to absolutely loose my mind. After I'd had my mental breakdown I continued watching and thank the Lord, Theseus survived
Since this movie came out i've been doing the crab swivel stance to initiate my dog's zoomies, it became such a habit that whoever is nearby gets jumpscared to death every time 🤣
This is where Newt shines with his creatures and probably for the first time isnt overlooked by his older brother who was as amazed by Newt's talents in not only saving him but changing the wizarding world to prtotect these incredible terrifying but magnificent creatures❤.
Watching this makes me wonder “what in blazes did these people do to be put into this?!” We know Newt’s brother was captured by bad guys but what about everyone else that’s just left there to be eaten by wizarding world’s manticore?
This is the absolute best scene in Fantastic Beasts it’s just too hilarious. Saw it in the theatre and specifically this scene on repeat later on on TV. Even reading it in the screenplay is too hilarious to describe. (btw these two are my fave characters in fantastic beasts followed by Bunty and Lally)

It is a creature with body of lion/big cat with a face of a man and a scorpion sting as a tail. the myth actually comes from the image of a tiger. If you see the face of tiger, it looks like a face of a man with beard and the stripes tail looks like scorpion tail bump, so Manticore appearance should have that criterias. Warners just put one criteria which is scorpion tail and then proceed adding that silly crab thingy and call it Manticore... the audicity!

This (along with the “heart to heart” moment in Dumbledore and Grindelwald’s last fight) were by far the standout scenes in this disjointed movie for me. I genuinely laughed out loud during this entire scene-a legion of sashaying scorpions is just hilarious! 😂
I first thought those things were blast ended skrewts, but apparently they're manticores. Apparently the filmmakers wanted them to look like scorpions rather than man-headed lions. I think they should have gone with the traditional look. Anyone agree?
Did we ever learn exactly what these things are? Or what the thing in the pit is? The pit thing is likely partially trained, as it only went for the people with no lights, whilst the smaller things are clearly scavengers, though will go after live prey if they have the opportunity, but what exactly are they?
They’re supposed to be Manticores. I think the biggest one in the pit is the mama, considering the fact she regurgitates the leftovers of what she eats to feed the babies.
This is the sort of thing Fantastic Beasts was supposed to be. Encounters with various creatures with weird yet detailed explanations of them.

I saw the film back in early May in cinema. The audience laughed. My mum laughed. Eddie and Callum are brilliant too. I Loved it.
This movie was saved because of the amazing cast. Look at this scene. I laughed for the entirety of it and it was perfect.

This (along with the “heart to heart” moment in Dumbledore and Grindelwald’s last fight) were by far the standout scenes in this disjointed movie for me. I genuinely laughed out loud during this entire scene-a legion of sashaying scorpions is just hilarious! 😂
I first thought those things were blast ended skrewts, but apparently they're manticores. Apparently the filmmakers wanted them to look like scorpions rather than man-headed lions. I think they should have gone with the traditional look. Anyone agree?
Definitely. The way they did it just messed up their real description. That’s my only complaint about this scene.

Did we ever learn exactly what these things are? Or what the thing in the pit is?
The pit thing is likely partially trained, as it only went for the people with no lights, whilst the smaller things are clearly scavengers, though will go after live prey if they have the opportunity, but what exactly are they?
They’re supposed to be Manticores. I think the biggest one in the pit is the mama, considering the fact she regurgitates the leftovers of what she eats to feed the babies.
