Not to mention he's a gifted wizard too, no doubt he spent hours creating and perfecting spells specifially meant for him to protect the creatures from the dangers they encounter
Agreed. Warner Bros and Rowling passed up a major opportunity to do Fantastic Beasts as a series, and then do Dumbledore's series separately. Folks enjoyed the first movie of the Beasts franchise, and definitely would have enjoyed the Dumbledore series, had they not made the stupid mistake of merging the two and taking the focus off a very likable character.
Can we talk about, how Harry Potter was supposed to be a series about wizards and magic…. But we see mOre use of spells and magic in the first fantastic beasts film than we see in the entire HP series🤣
It's especially interesting when you consider that very little actual magic or elements of magical culture were displayed in not just the films, but the books too. Lots of people say that Voldemort was more powerful than Grindelwald (hell I think that Rowling said that), but we saw exactly one fight where Voldemort was using spells other the killing curse and the cruciatus (the ministry battle between him and Dumbledore); whereas we see Grindelwald use all kinds of crazy (nonverbal too) magic from rings of fire to his duel with Dumbledore. And Rowling, as far as I know, endorses these films as canon. So it's seriously hard to reconcile the Fantastic Beasts films with the Harry Potter books/films where virtually all the spells were spoken and the vast majority of the series can be broken down to 6 fricking spells (the six most commonly used spells seemed to be the killing curse, the imperius curse, the cruciatus curse, disarming charm, the stunning, and the patronus).
I feel like it’s because JK Rowling actually put some thought into world building and general idea behind the plot other than the main storyline. The Harry Potter series quite noticeably had next to no worldbuilding.
Man... the first film was SO MUCH MORE FUN! They really didn't need to include the ENTIRE Dumbledore/Grindelwald lore, they just needed a bad guy! Graves was perfect before they turned him into Grindelwald (no shade to JD, only the writers). He was menacing, and handsome, and THAT IS ALL WE NEED!
@SammEater It was the weirdest plot twist, imo. I mean, HOW did Newt know to use the revelio charm on Graves? There was no more than a rumor that Grindelwald was at large but no tangible proof or visible foreshadowing. In HP Goblet of Fire, Moody/Crouch Jr.'s mouth tick, and the flask was brilliant foreshadowing, and the writers allowed the audience to put the pieces together with the pensive memory before the big reveal! It allowed tension to build naturally, but Grindelwald's reveal never got the same treatment.

We know he was partially responsible for Grindelwalds rise to power and revolutionary type violence and we know that he was who stopped him eventually. We also know he did not dare face Grindelwald till the very end when it was impossible to avoid it. The Books basically make it clear that Dumbledore has served important offices in the Wizarding community offered the premiership of British wizard community many times. Lore talk and real-world drama aside, Newt and other characters this prequel tend to use magic in such varied and interesting ways. Getting to see more of what an relatively normal adult wizard can do and seeing magic used for even the most mundane or complex of tasks really adds a level of awe to this fantasy world. This versatility is certainly an upgrade from the previous films in the portrayal of magic, with previous films tending to simplify magic to energy bolts complete with a stun and kill setting and rarely giving significant focus to its more utilitarian uses outside of a few instances. Wasn’t it said that in the books apperating caused a really loud noise, someone apperated near the Dursley’s and they blamed the noise on Harry right?
3:11 JACOBS GIGGLE 😅😅😅
The font made me think that this video was taken down to copyright infringement or something like that
Hehe sorry abt that 😅
3:17 literally if I could apparate i would do it 24/7
I wish fantastic beast stayed focused on fantastic beasts, them turning it into a Dumbledore prequel screwed everything up
4:06 wouldve been much funnier if you said "im johnny depp"
Fantastic beasts movie was amazing. Shame there were no sequels
How could he kept his wand as he was expelled from Hogwarts?
I think, if he had at least his OWL's even if not yet his NEWT's, he is able to hold to it.
@@vivienkoles1880 haha NEWTS
Maybe that's conditional on the severity of the circumstances behind one's expulsion.
Is it bad that I had a huge crush on Newt when first watching this movie
Nah, he's fun to watch and the actor is talented and very well suited for the character. 👍
what wanna be harry potter movie is this
idk why but oh golly gosh there's a hole in the wall just sent me
Me reading it “Newt use likes to magic”
Everyone's a secret Black
i simply think they got way more creative with magic with fantastic beasts and better cgi. likewise the focus is different, harry potter was a lot darker
I love the part where he heals Jacob
