The Vita is still relevant thanks to the Switch and Steam Deck. I love my Vita especially with all the nice mods, hacks, homebrew, and emulators I've installed in it. I can play all my PS1 and PSP games no problem, including NES/SNES games.
I filled a 124 g micro sd card with psp, ps1, nes, snes, gb, gbc, and gba games. I had a few N64 games but they didn’t run very well so I deleted them. It takes some effort to mod and put on custom firmware to work. Techjames has some great tutorials to follow and I’m not about to tell you we’re to get the “back up” iso/rom sight to go to.
I bought a hacked 2000 model back in April and haven't regretted. Love the PSP, PS1 games i can get from PKJg and i also love that i can still access the PSN store to get the games that i can't get on there. PSN and Trophies work too. I wish it was a OLED model but happy with my purchase
Hello, I've had this video open in my tabs since this video came out haha! I saw it back then but now I re-watched it because I want to comment on a few things. You mentioned the Vita having a proprietary memory card but you never mentioned that you NEED a proprietary memory card only on the PS Vita 1000 model (the one shown in your video) to even mod it to use an adapter for a micro SD card. However, on the 2000 model you don't need a proprietary memory card since it has 1GB of memory already in it. Also, isn't it crazy that Nintendo enabled Bluetooth on the switch that we've had for years thinking it didn't have Bluetooth? haha! I like the color of your switch too.
My Vita is essentially an emulation machine these days. Super Mario RPG on the go is awesome…plus being able to play PSP. I’ve got it setup with 1TB of storage. Might be overkill.
I was a day one purchaser. You’re right that from a hardware standpoint, the Vita is better than the Switch. However, it just goes to show how much the extra bells and whistles aren’t needed. The Switch is a better gaming experience because it is supported by 1st and 3rd parties. The Vita felt less supported than the PSP.
It's incredible how ahead of it's time it was, and how long the life of the PS Vita has been in terms of how it just continues to sell on the 2nd hand market, how there are still games, and all the hacking and home brewing. It's really amazing how much of a life of its own it's taken on since it stopped production. Makes me wonder if SONY would take another crack at a mobile gaming device? 🤔🤔🤔
Love the vita. I have a black 1000, black/pink 2000, a persona 2000, and a vita tv. I have around 300 physical games and another 300 digital games. Best handheld ever.

I reserved the Steam Deck and pre-ordered the Switch OLED for review purposes. I’m definitely more excited for the Steam Deck since I want to (finally) have Final Fantasies 1-15 on a single piece of portable hardware.

I've always liked the look of the vita but when it came out no one cared about it, it felt like. with the PSP there was soo much buzz, I don't remember seeing any adverts or billboards saying that ythe vita was even a thing, Sony clearly didn't have a clear direction why they made the PS Vita, they ended up making a something you just use with ur PS4. I started playing Freedom Wars and after I finish it, I want to finish Soul Sacrifice Delta. The Vita could have had new games even today because it was super powerful but Sony is Sony ....The Vita was and remains an work of art. As far as I know, to use a regular sd card you have to buy a "SD2Vita", wich adapts the sd card to the format of a regular vita game card, but it will only work if the firmware is modded. And the storeage limit is 128gb
I got my vita 2011 the classic 1000 version that has 3G. I still love my vita over the switch because of it size, but the switch games and so on has made my vita currently resting in my collection. However, I still on it and play games like Dragon Quest Builder 1, Digimon & some brian training games. If only they did not stop and allow PS5 remote use for my vita, it would have been so much more better. Sony has been great in making handheld and the PSP has proven to be the case, but the issue was the way they approach it as if they where apple. Making sure that only there memory card and charger has to be the sony kill it. Because they forgot, phones are adult market toys, but the handheld is children and young adult that is there target market and should have been affordable for anyone who just started working and paying off there student loans at the same time able to keep up with there life with games. I truly hope that sony find away to release another handheld and it would be affordable accessories, the console is justifiable for it prices and people is willing to invest 1 go if they are able to have a powerful gaming console like the vita did and not its options accessories that are needed for game storage.
It’s a little tough nowadays. You might be able to try your luck on Amazon, but I’ve seen it for higher prices. I left a link to Amazon in the description but that’s for the Slim model.
It is a great system, but at this point the switch beats the absolute dog sh1t out of the vita. I do think the vita is a sexier system as far as aesthetically, but it just can't compare with the switch anymore. I will always recommend a switch or switch lite over the vita because alot of those rare jrpgs are getting ported to it and as you said Sony themselves killed the vita years ago...but great video! i got my vita within the launch window because i was a hardcore psp fan and i played lumines and katamari daily so seeing katamari, lumines, and my fave fighting game umvc3 launch, it was an easy choice to this day my vita has rarely hard shutdown, i got it jailbroken with a 512gb sd and ive never been more happy. to be able to now play psp games like initial d and outrun, not to mention pkgj, its so underrated. literally every emulator handheld is a worst buy than the vita, and ive tried searching

Main reason I bought a Vita over the switch is because the switch is not built well, there built like there throw away devices. The thumb sticks give out easily, the joycons can stop connecting, if you dropped it I doubt it would survive, and the system can bend very easily. Not built to last in anyway and not for the long term gamer.

it's better to sell your switch first then buy the vita. you can find a better deal and end up with nice sum of money left.
