My BEST Microphones for Youtube (Don't Make the Same Mistake)

Today we are discussing the best microphone setups for making UA-cam videos. I want to share my thoughts and experience regarding microphone selection for different kind of scenarios, and I will share what I think are the best microphones for some typical UA-cam video requirements i.e talking head in untreated room, vlogging outdoor, voiceover, etc. I have purchased many microphones, and learned from my audio journey that each of them have a very specific use case and there is no single best microphone. Hopefully you can learn from this video and be able to get the right microphone for your needs.

Hi Gary! Thanks for your review. Very nice intro talking slower in the very start about what was coming in the review.
The NTG is probably what I would choose if I was going for Røde products. You did a great job of comparing each microphone indoors and outdoors and we could hear the differences. So well done!
You asked what we have:
I have twin shotgun Sennheiser MKE 400 one for the Lumix G80 and the other for the Lumix G9. Maybe similar to the NTG you reviewed but the Sennheisers lack a gain knob on the back which is a bit of a bummer. I had a Zoom H1n field recorder but managed to break it 😢 so stupid of me. And I have a Hollyland Lark 150 with two lavalier transmitters. I also have a Deity vLav which has a 5 meter chord to the camera but I rarely use the later not because of poor quality but the inconvinence of the chord.
A microphone that intrigues me is the Comica cvm-vm30 which combines being a wireless but is more like a shotgun. You can mount it on the camera like a normal shotgun. Or boom it but no cable. Or rig it up like tabletop microphone. Or hold it in your hand in a tv reporter style. Check out some reviews on other channels.

Joe, thank you for sharing too! Good to know about the Sennheiser MKE 400, I heard good things about that microphone, and saw some videos explaining how it sounds. Also thanks for the recommendation on the Comica VM30, sounds like a very useful wireless shotgun microphone.

What about people using
Something like gx80 , without microphone input ?

Unfortunately with my GX85 I am only using it to record B roll videos, so there's no possibility to record external audio into the camera. What I've done in the past is to use my smartphone, use a voice-recorder app to record dialogue, then sync the voice-recorder audio with the GX85 video. It's cumbersome though, so I don't do it a lot.
