I have a 2014 pathfinder. Only one cigarette lighter in front above that tray. Would procedure for takedown be the same if I I wanted to install a dual USB port like in the video?
As always, great video. Any chance you could do a video on replacing the OEM incandescent front turn signals to LED switchback LED's without having to use load resistors? So, they would be bright white when the car is on & switch to bright amber in turn signal mode.
I have already replaced the front turn to LED but they are not switchback. I am not planning install switchback as the turn signal is right next to LED DRL. IMO, not much point in doing this mod/install. But here is the LED install vid: ua-cam.com/video/nkD45Ep4DKA/v-deo.html

Thank you for your comment. My background is a mix of many things. In my twenties, I had a car alarm, car stereo business where I sold and installed car electronics. I also studied electronics engineering in school. In later years, I worked as a network engineer travelling around the world giving training to service provider companies. I still have a love for tinkering with car stuff and that's why I have this channel to share my knowledge.

thanks for another great video.😀 can i tap to a constant 12v fuse? even when the ignition is off? how much power does a usb socket draws when not in use. it is safe for the car battery?
It's not recommended that you connect to constant 12v. It will drain your car battery.

as a 2017 owner replacing the headunit is not worth it and you will lose climate control visuals from the integrated screen
Joe DeSalvo yu can get the radio dash kit and keep the above screen for your climate controls.
I've seen a cool (older) Pathfinder radio replace in which they moved the Nissan Top Screen with the Climate control screen down low where the radio unit is and put in a new radio flat screen in the upper unit. Smart switch out. ua-cam.com/video/vW4txlpe33Y/v-deo.html

You can as long as you have access to an ignition 12v you can tap power.
I honestly love the fact that new cars come with all the USB ports. Even in the 3rd row that is probably considered an afterthought to most automakers
Hi, Dial2Fast.... I saw that in this video and the other one you made about installing cigarette lighter type accessories that no mention of a fuse was made. Isn't there supposed to be a fuse installed in each USB device (front/back)?
Keep in mind the circuit I am tapping off is already fused at the fuse box. For extra safety, you can install a 5A inline fuse to the USB charger if you want.

So I don't have to run it directly to the battery. I hope I don't have to order long wire and route through the fire wall. ?
You can also use a fuse tap to tap into the fuse box for Ignition 12V or Constant 12V. Definitely try to avoid running through the firewall.
