Oh, thank you sooooo much, Dylan. I'm new to FCP and couldn't understand why I wasn't seeing the same 'options' on mine as on other instructor's screens. You SAVED me by saying that i wouldn't see it on my iMac. I love the fact that now I only need to hit Command E now. Again, thank you so very much.

Thanks man! I really apreciate the help! I've been using final cut for a couple years now and have never been happy with the export quality until now. Thanks again!

Great video. When you do you videos, do you export a mastering 422 file for archiving alongside your social export or do you stick with the UA-cam export?? Is that good enough for a final video.
HI Dylan! Great video and information for beginners! Love it! Question: can you recommend how to add a Thumbnail to Shorts? I don't see that option when I upload from the computer. On the other hand, if I do it from my iPhone, it is available, but the video resolution is bad when uploaded to UA-cam. Happy holidays!
Hey man! Happy holidays! I'm not sure actually. I thought it was the normal way you add a thumbnail to a YT video, but perhaps I'm wrong. I don't post many Shorts.
Hey Dylan! When sending our videos to customers, what is the best way to export? It’s clear and crispy on my side, but I’ve had a few people post and it shows up blurry for them and it makes me cringe 😓
I was looking for a simple and straightforward way to export. This video made my day. One question though how should we export went we want to share the files for another editor to work with?
hey dylan do you have a tutorial on how to make that outline thing? i am not sure what to search for. the one that circled all your export destinations. thanks!
Dylan U R Always giving the BEST advice and another great video here, let me run this past you… I often export a master file in HD ProRes, then convert to H.264 using compressor ( more options ) , or I use Shutter Encoder and make the file H.265 both look great and file size is always good for SM IMO any thoughts on these workflows> Thanks as always Dylan...
I think that workflow is really solid. No need to change it in my opinion 👌 you could also just send your project straight to compressor if you want to expedite the process
Question. If you haven’t already. Can you please do a video on how you create thumbnails for your UA-cam videos and what you use to create your thumbnail? Thanks :)
Thanks for the tip ! it's what I usually use for my exports 😎 A client is asking me a "cinema version" should I go with the master file ? Thanks for your time !
Ya go with a master file in that instance, although, I don't think they know what that means haha unless they're knowledgeable. If they end up saying that it's too large of a file, just use compressor on the master file.
yeah right ! because i'm far from being a cinema post production expert 😅, but I guess they want to display the film on a few cinema screens@@dylanjohndickerson
If I were you, I'd ask them to ask the projectionist the specific export settings they require to ensure compatibility with their playback systems and any additional requirements they might have. I just want to make sure you're in the clear because I'm not sure if a ProRes 422 Master File is 100% the call. @@misterlaazy
None of this makes a huge difference (except 1080p for instagram) as you highlighted but I would go for H.265 on Apple Silicon. Because the output file size is half of H.264 for identical or better quality and there is a hardware decoder that makes this as fast as H.264. On Intel the primary reason not to use H265 was speed of exporting (or compatibility with older devices).
Interesting. I didn't notice much of a difference. I guess if that's the case, you'd switch to 'social platforms' instead of 'computer'. Do you have a link to the video by chance?
