RVV BJJ too far from me, I think you’re teaching ability has prob surpassed your professors, I see that guy on Stephan Kestings channel and his stuff is much lower quality than yours no disrespect to either of you, you are very clear, observant, and well researched I really appreciate it
Value is subjective .Yet Danahar is on a level most will never be .As well as look at His results .You get what you pay for a Teacher of Champions .There are followers then there are innovators an John is the latter .
I'm glad the engineers are liking it! This is the second episode on my channel. I have a 3rd video now on "Frames and Inertia" on bjjconcepts.net. I really only plan on using this series to cover the broad concepts, or physical principles in bjj. Not specific to a guard or submission. But who knows what I may do in the future. These take a lot of time to study, prepare, and make so I only do a couple a year at this point.
As an engineer and black belt this is an excellent video. I try to explain this concept to my students in a static fashion when discussing frames, posts, etc. I use it in striking and takedowns too.
Once you learn the principles, and science behind the moves or tactics(of a martial art) you are able to create your own effective moves. Which is exactly what I do. I create my own moves to go along with a martial art form that I've been developing for years. So I'm basically doing what Bruce Lee did when he developed Jeet Kune Do. And instructions like this help me in my endeavors. So thank you from one martial artist to another.
How did you learned all of this? Is there a way i can read it or find somewhere? I know this must be kind of simple for people in pshysics but i've never been good at it. Love your work, great content as usual!!
Thank you. I focused on Physics in high school and always enjoyed it. This I just googled physics terminology and studied many sources to ensure the right information. Then I figured out how to present the information.
Inclined planes are wedges. A crossface is an incline plane. A posted hand from top side control which prevents guard recovery is an inclined plane. In this way we are using the plane to decrease our opponent's mechanical advantage. Inversely, we can use our chest as an incline plane when pulling our opponent over us into back control. Since we lack the leverage to lift our opponent up, we pull our opponent's back onto our chest using a seatbelt or claw ride. In this way we are using the plane to increase our mechanical advantage.
Civil Engineer/Jiu Jitsu enthusiast here. Appreciate your teaching style soo freakin much. These videos are pure gold!
Awesome! I always wanted videos like this when I was a beginner, love that other people like them too.

Engineer here, great video! Will you be making more videos in this style? Would like to see one on sweeps from half guard.

I felt like i was in a laboratory ☺
This is why I can’t get good at BJJ. I have a plane phobia.
your smart
Incline plane?
As you you want me to talk about it?
