The band is from Athens, GA, home to the University of Georgia where they were students when the band was formed. Also from this little college town: R.E.M., Widespread Panic, Drive-by Truckers, of Montreal, Neutral Milk Hotel, Azure Ray, Pylon, the Glands, Vigilantes of Love, Vic Chesnutt, Reptar, Apples in Stereo, Olivia Tremor Control, Dead Confederate, John Barry, Ravenstone, Danger Mouse, Love Tractor, and so many more. Just an amazing little town that The NY Times said is the birthplace of indie music.
One of the best concerts I ever went to was the B52's in Melbourne. Private Idaho should be on your list to check out too Jay. It absolutely rocks.😁👍🎶📀❤️
Great song. This was a huge song in the late 80s early 90s and they had this pumpin' in the girls residence at university in the cafeteria during supper
School dances were so much fun when "Rock Lobster" (and TBF - "Time Warp") came on and everyone ended on the floor when "down, down, down" came on. We didn't even care - we lay on the floor in our mini skirts flopping around like idiots!
“Private Idaho”, “Dance This Mess Around”, Strobe Light”, “Planet Claire”, “Give Me Back My Man” (that one is mainly Cindy), “Legal Tender”, “Song For A Future Generation”, “Whammy Kiss”. Also, Fred does some solo stuff: “Monster” is a pretty amusing video. 💜💜💜
Love a true B 52s fan. I feel like I should warn him but no one warned me. I love them so much and it's so great to know people a generation younger than me are discovering them.
@@tracysnow349 I saw them back when Wild Planet came out… in the gym at the University of Delaware (my friend went there). They were a total trip. On my way home, my in dash 8 track player ate Wild Planet. Still a favorite of mine. Oh, and I should’ve mentioned “Quiche Lorraine”, too. I also saw them when “Funplex” came out. Obviously, I love them. 🤣 Seeing young people enjoying them for the first time is so cool. 💜💜💜
Roam is a great song. Honestly, they have so many great songs with catchy beats. I feel like you would enjoy Channel Z. For some of the older, quirky B-52s Legal Tender, Private Idaho, Give Me Back My Man, Dance This Mess Around. They have a ton of hits and their videos are usually a ton of fun too.
The B-52s had so many great songs. I saw them play this one live at the San Diego Sports Arena in 1989 or 1990. Kate and Cindy, even Fred, sounded really good. I remember the night.
This reaction reminds me why you are still the best reactor! If you are still loving these cats, check out "Deadbeat Club" and "Give Me Back My Man" next.
One of my all time fav songs from when I was a kid was b52’s collabed with iggy pop, for the song “candy”. It might just be with the one female singer Kate Pierson.
Absolutely infectious. Never fails to put a smile on my face and brighten my day. Regardless of their little quirks, the quality of the music is solid. Both Kate and Cyndi have awesome voices.
Kate and Cindy have absolutely amazing voices and they sound incredible together. There has never been another sound like Kate and Cindy harmonizing together. If you ever get a chance to see the B-52's live, you should go. They put on a great show. This song was ALL OVER the radio. And Keith Strickland is a really creative guitarist. Really melodic, but with some weird tunings and unexpected choices. He is one of the best.
The B52S are one of my favourite bands but I've never seen this video. It's pure gold! It's one of their best songs. I love when they did the namaste greeting with the Buddha statue in the background. This song is fabulous! The beat, the handclaps, the message-everything about it.
B52s my favorite band. They started the “new wave” sound, that’s how they’re so big then all other bands came right after them. Most all their hit songs are used in so many movies and shows from the 80s and 90s
I think I told you I met Freddie in 1983 as a teller in a bank in 1983 .. he was so cool.. it said on my deposit slip ...hey Bel be bad love Freddie S the third..
Jeeze I forgot about this song brought back some memories ☺️ Always loved"love shack" used to sing it in the pub with a few drinks down me of course 🤣 Keep up the good work JayveeTV.
Whenever I'm listening to the B-52s I'm reminded a lot of The Cure - it's just missing all the depth and sadness - it's just the cute and happy parts, but still eerily similar in sound. I love 'em both, depending on the mood.
The B 52’s have some fantastic songs. My favorite from them is a deep cut off their first album Dance This Mess Around. You should totally check it out I think you would love it.
Such a fun band. I've seen them numerous times though the years. Their live shows are big dance parties. Fun times! "Deadbeat Club" is another excellent song.
Oh the harmonizing!!!! They were SO good live for this CD. Great band! Check out one of their older songs "Legal Tender". Crazy video! You'll really like it!
You need to listen to Dance This Mess Around, Planet Clair, Private Idaho and Lava. Great songs by the B52s. Also listen to the song Candy by Iggy Pop with Kate Pearson in it.
I actually preffer this over "Love shack", wich was on heavy rotation in the late 80's-early 90's on MTV. Produced by Nile Rogers I believe. Such a legend.
Love B-52's!!! Suggest listening to Legal Tender, Planet Claire, The Girl From Ipanema Goes to Greenland, Cake, and two from Fred Schneider's solos album, Monster and the incredible Summer in Hell. All so very good and danceable!!!
I love Cindy too, but Kate is one of my top 2 female singers ever. They’ve had hits dating back to the ‘70s. Private Idaho, Planet Claire, Is That You Mo-Dean?, or Deadbeat Club. I recommend these or anything by them.
Kate and Cindy's voices go so well together and the band's music is always so original and fun.
These two deserve more ♥️ as one of the most perfectly blended harmonizing pairs.
The B-52’s one of the coolest bands ever.
The B 52's were the party band. A good time was to be had when you heard the B 52's
REM - Shiny Happy People, Kate Pierson from The B-52’s sings on it.
Definitely! ☺
I love that song‼️ They remind me of high school 🙂
@Rose Madder oh yes I totally remember that one.. love me some Iggy Pop too!
@Rose Madder hell yes I freaking LOVE Candy!!!
This song is definitely a +1 in energy. Whatever energy you came into the song with you leave with more. Thanks!
Yes, B52s! One of my favorite bands of all time! 💖💖💖
This album was HUGE, spawned several hits. "Deadbeat Club", "Dry County" and "Channel Z" are all great.
"Bushfire" was also a bop, but it wasn't a single.
Deadbeat Club is great. It wasn't a hit but I always get a kick out of Quiche Lorraine.
Deadbeat Club is one of the best songs ever.
@@Siansonea Haven't heard the song, I'll check it out.
Beneath all that fun is a group of seriously talented people. I love AND admire the musicality of the B-52s 😉
Always loved this as #1 for them
Kate & Cindy have always harmonized well together. One of my favorites by them is a
earlier song called "52 Girls".
This is one of the 4 #1 hits by the B-52's from their #1 album called Cosmic Thing.
The band is from Athens, GA, home to the University of Georgia where they were students when the band was formed. I love their song "Deadbeat Club"
Me too.
Huh? Get a job. What for? I’m tryin to think! 😆
Great song. This was a huge song in the late 80s early 90s and they had this pumpin' in the girls residence at university in the cafeteria during supper
Favorite B-52s song!!!!!!
If you’re moving in your seat, you should see them live. It’s a dance party!
Love the B-52's. Rock Lobster!
School dances were so much fun when "Rock Lobster" (and TBF - "Time Warp") came on and everyone ended on the floor when "down, down, down" came on.
We didn't even care - we lay on the floor in our mini skirts flopping around like idiots!
I've listened to this song 1000 times and I still can't believe how well Cindy and Kate can harmonize. It's just on a whole other level.
Private Idaho!

Legal Tender uhuhuhuhu

52 Girls!!
@@mysticmavens811 yes!
Channel Z is amazing!!! So ahead of its time.
Don't you just love some B-52s? Thank you, Jay!
The beehives are really in fine form in Song for a Future Generation. Highly recommend.
Great melody, and Cindy and Kate sound so great together. One of their best.
"Junebug" is their most underrated deep cut, IMHO!
Great to see how much you appreciated this great song. Made me enjoy it all over again!
Love this song and it's several year's after the other two songs, so you can really see how they matured in their sound, great choice...♡
Genuinely one of my favorite songs. Joyous
Such ENERGY! And the vocals SAIL!
Love this one!🎵 Take it hip to hip~ Rock it thru the wilderness!"💃😀
It's never not a time for B-52's.
I always love this band because of their fun, madness and recklessness !!!
Iggy Pop w/ Kate, song is Candy. Great song.
Also R.E.M w/Katw, song is Shining Happy People.
The B-52s had so many great songs. I saw them play this one live at the San Diego Sports Arena in 1989 or 1990. Kate and Cindy, even Fred, sounded really good. I remember the night.
I love the b52s! I totally agree that they are just fun and sometimes silly but they back up that with KILLER harmonies and voices.
One of my faves...thank you.
This reaction reminds me why you are still the best reactor! If you are still loving these cats, check out "Deadbeat Club" and "Give Me Back My Man" next.
To be a part of this song when it was released as a teenager was magical…. I wish we could re live the late 80s and early 90s …
Yay! My favorite B52 song!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Ahh I forgot how much I love this song
My favorite song by them!! 💕
It was so much FUN being a little girl when the B-52’s were at their height. I love them. ❤️
One of my all time fav songs from when I was a kid was b52’s collabed with iggy pop, for the song “candy”. It might just be with the one female singer Kate Pierson.
That is actually one of my favorite songs of all time...and I'm very eclectic, can't say that I'm an Iggy Pop fan at all
B-52s are a party band... this song is in my road trip mix... My fave song of theirs is Mesopotamia.
The harmony of the girls voices are so great
This is a great example of a perfect pop song
Please do Planet Claire, B52s !
The Primitives - Crash - is a good one to sing along to🌟I still enjoy it now
Love that song!!
YASSSS
That's a good one too.
Absolutely infectious. Never fails to put a smile on my face and brighten my day. Regardless of their little quirks, the quality of the music is solid. Both Kate and Cyndi have awesome voices.
“ Rock Lobster” the drive and Vrrrooom is neXt level
Love your reactions. Keep exploring B 52s
I could put this on repeat for DAYS.
you should do "Private Idaho" a lesser known banger, but a banger none the less.
Love it!
No that’s of their most popular songs
Ah finally, one of the best songs to make you feel good. B52s!
My favorite B-52 song....
Ah, to be 19, again, getting ready with my college friends to go out for the night. The local bars would serve 19+.
The B52S are one of my favourite bands but I've never seen this video. It's pure gold! It's one of their best songs. I love when they did the namaste greeting with the Buddha statue in the background. This song is fabulous! The beat, the handclaps, the message-everything about it.
Great band , try their tracks: "Legal Tender" and "a song for the future generation" , and "Private Idaho"
Kate Pierson & Cindy Wilson are easily one of my favourite vocal pairings in the world.
B52s my favorite band. They started the “new wave” sound, that’s how they’re so big then all other bands came right after them. Most all their hit songs are used in so many movies and shows from the 80s and 90s
Still one of my faves. Hey Jay!
My favourite B-52s’ song. The soundtrack to my university (college) days… beach parties, cheap wine and young love!
My fav reviewer reviews my fav song ever, I want it played at my funeral. SHINE in your skin & world!
B52's😳 🥰🥰🥰 Thank you
That whole album is amazing, not a bad song on it. I saw them in concert when they were promoting this album, it was a good show.
"Candy" - Kate's duet with Iggy Pop is also a great listen.
B-52s - Debbie is another fun song and video from the mid 90s. It's a tribute to Blondie singer Debbie Harry.
Deadbeat Club was my favorite off this album.
Deadbeat Club is so good👍🏼
Great to be alive in the 80's and be able to enjoy all the latest music videos. Some of them, "Thriller 1983" being the best, were better than movies.
The B52s are the answer to free energy
You get out more than you put in🥰
Whenever I'm listening to the B-52s I'm reminded a lot of The Cure - it's just missing all the depth and sadness - it's just the cute and happy parts, but still eerily similar in sound. I love 'em both, depending on the mood.
This was a cute song and even the clapping puts that extra on the beat and I feel their vocals meld really well! Nice song.
The B 52’s have some fantastic songs. My favorite from them is a deep cut off their first album Dance This Mess Around. You should totally check it out I think you would love it.
Rock Lobster is My Favorite B-52's song 🥰✌️☮️
Cracking track brings back memories
Such a perfect pop song!!!
I enjoy Roam better than Love Shack!
Me too. Love Shack and arguably Rock Lobster are more famous songs but this one blows them both out of the water.
You can't help but sing along, even if you don't know the words. 😂
Please do their song *Deadbeat Club* from the same album! My fave B52s song ♥
Such a fun band. I've seen them numerous times though the years. Their live shows are big dance parties. Fun times! "Deadbeat Club" is another excellent song.
They are better known for Love Shack but this was always my favourite track of theirs.
You gotta check out their song Rock Lobster. I was introduced to them in the 70s as a kid. The girls have great harmony
Amazing harmonies
LOVED that reaction! Not sure how I missed this, but a great song & agreed with everything you said
very catching song 80s 👌
Oh the harmonizing!!!! They were SO good live for this CD. Great band! Check out one of their older songs "Legal Tender". Crazy video! You'll really like it!
