I've only ever seen the official video, which you MUST see immediately, as you'll see them doing what y'all were doing, as well as the whale-sized Chrysler, the Atlanta highway, the love shack itself, the band and some revelers in glee. One of the most ebullient of all music videos, I would suggest, if prompted. But thank you for posting the lyrics, because I never had a clue what was said there at the end. You see, I grew up in Charlotte, and know quite a few Southern ladies who were, and are, prone to blurting out all manner of verbiage, often apropos of nothing. Thanks for ameliorating my mood. Which reminds me. I need coffee.
I know why y’all did the lyrics for the song, but y’all need to watch the video on your own! The song will make better sense to you and will make you smile even more! My favorite line in the entire song is: TIN ROOF….RUSTED!!!!
The B-52s are hands down the most fun concert to attend. It's literally a good time from start to end... you go in all nice and dressed up and you come out at the end all tired, sweaty and happy. One year my GF got all done up for the show, put her hair up all fancy, make up and a nice dress and she looked like she fell in a swimming pool when we left the show, that's how much we danced.
This Group!!!! This group!!! One of the most Iconic groups in music history!!! Still a "BIG" favorite Banger in the dance club of 2021 and 2022!!!!....Great group!!!! B-52's are among the new gods of Rock n' Roll!!!! Excellent!!! Also check out "Roam" by The B-52's. Another banger!!!!
This band formed really just because bored college students wanted their own places to hang out with their own bands to listen to, where they could wear funny clothes and stay up all night and dance...That's what made them great...
OMG…The only song that my friends could ever get me out on the floor and dance to when I was growing up! To this day I still love this song! I am so glad y’all are doing a reaction to it! Now I’m going to listen!
Just realized that Kate and Cindy have this powerful effervescent blending sound when they hit high notes together that's right up there with Agneta and Frida's in Abba.
I remember when this first came out. A good friend of mine came over all excited for me to hear her new tape (yes cassette tape), and popped it in and started dancing around my living room. It was a refreshing fun song to hear and put you in a super great mood. The video was great too. Loved it! Great to see you enjoying the song too! Great review!
Dave letterman interviewed one of the girl singers and asked her what that line in the middle meant "tin roof - rusted!" her response was classic, "Nothing, it's just a song." That's it, no hidden message about problems in the world, just a fun song about having fun.
One of my all time favorite bands! Great reaction! Roam is another great one. One of my favorites is 52 Girls. Too many to name. Their concerts were a total dance party 🥳
The first time I heard my Middle daughter sing she was singing this song doing karoke...I was amazed...thought she was lip sinking it...LOL She also sang Just a Manic Monday. LOL Never heard her sing before that...she was 25 at the time.
The name B-52's comes from a particular beehive hairdo resembling the nose cone of the aircraft, which Pierson and Cindy Wilson wore in performances during the band's first decade (From wikipedia) And you need to see the videoclip for this one
One of my favorite bands. Cindy Wilson and Kate Pierson are one, yet soaringly individual. The name B-52's comes from a particular beehive hairdo resembling the nose cone of the aircraft, which Pierson and Cindy Wilson wore in performances during the band's first decade. Both a hairdo and an aircraft. Check out great songs like Dirty Backroads, Deadbeat Club, Rock lobster, Private Idaho, Give Me Back My Man, etc.
They are a great live. Too many fun songs to list. Some of my favorite songs are old school B-52's songs like Planet Claire, Give Me Back My Man, and...of course, Rock Lobster.
It's the "live" sound they use, including all the people yelling in the background, making it sound like a party improptu jam--plus having soul brothas on the horns and drums makes this a great song.
I've seen the B-52's at the Whiskey-A-GoGo, on Sunset Blvd In Las Angeles, Ca Back in the day and They were soooo Good Live. You have seen their Official Video.
I am so glad that you enjoyed this song. So many reactors don't like it, one even said the male singer was "a joke". I love this song! It is so fun. Back when I was young, the dance floor was hoppin' when this song came on. It was great.
So for our family, this song is like one of the “white family right of passage songs.” ( Bohemian Rhapsody- shoeing them the perfect timing of when to start head banging for example) The songs safe to play for your kiddos in the car and show them how to have fun with a song. Hubby sings the silly guy voice and I do the girl voice. It’s a total goofy 🙃 song- it’s suppose to be silly fun! So it’s important to learn the lyrics to make it a party song
I entered college in 1980 and EVERYTHING on the radio (yes it was one of the most common ways to hear new music) was disco, disco, disco. I was a Grateful Dead and Eric Clapton fan disco wasn’t it (my musical tastes have since matured). But, suddenly, the B-52s and a couple of other bands erupted on the dial and I fell in love the the new beat. Next time check out Rock Lobster!
Fred Schneider frequents the clubs here in central Florida and there has been a couple of times we have spent karaoke together and he is such a down to earth regular guy........just dont sing love shack lol. J/K! If anyone sings it, he'll sing along with you.
The love shack was a real place. It was the summer cabin of the family of one of the band members. He used to go there for inspiration to write songs. Sadly, the cabin burned down some years ago. 😪
Yeah, anything related to dancing you would hear this song at the time. And it was on the radio and it every house party I ever went to. I like the B-52's generally anyway, but this is one of theirs that I can never get tired of listening to. It's just so good and so well done. And so fun. And there are actually two women in the band that play instruments and sing.
Forget misspelled, misquoted lyric videos for B-52's = they have great videos, don't think blocking is too bad with them? Such a positive vibe band. We need more of them! Beastie Boys usually had fun upbeat songs too. I love my brooding stuff but the world needs this!
Loved your reaction 2 Love Shack! Such a funky groovy song! Everyone 💃 🕺’s when this is on! Bj I love the spinning hand ride a 🐴 move u did lol! Y’ALL HAVE 2 WATCH THE VIDEO THO ITS A MUST!! ✌🏻🦋
This song is one of my favorite party songs and the official video is so good. You really are missing so much by doing the lyrics video so I strongly urge you to go and watch the official video. It is a feature film all by itself! And you can see the trio that make up the b-52s and yes they say it with the S on the end.
What a GREAT song in the 80's this was! Glad you got to test the waters on this one but, like many have suggested, you have to see the video to get the complete story! Peace
As others have said, go back and watch the official video. Other B-52 songs, "Roam", "Rock Lobster", and "Give Me Back My Man". There is one male singer and two female singers.
guitar solo- Keith Strickland, originally the band's drummer- after original guitarist, Rick Wilson- Cindy's (co female lead singer) brother, died of AIDS, Keith learned the guitar and took over the sound so well known as their sound.
Their music was always a surefire way of getting the fun started. We used to play "Rock Lobster" at school dances and the Nuns would flap about trying to get us up off the floor when the "down, down" segment played.
This song came out when I was in high school and brings back great memories. I had to drive our old family station the could literally hold about 15 friends. This song would come on and we would all sing along.
Athens Georgia proud. Actually, the Love Shack existed off of the Atlanta Highway, which was the main road in and out of Athens. Love watching you both have fun.
I wish you guys would have shown the video. The love shack was a real place out in the country and alot of things happened there for teens they had alot of fun there it was place the parents didn't know about it was a abandoned house till the town found 💔 out about it and they had it torn down. 💔 MUCH LOVE TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY 💕 BRANDI MODRAK.
Believe it or not this band is still on regular rotation at beach parties in the surfing community on the west coast of Australia....if there's a campfire and bikinis you know the B-52's will soon be playing.
I was pregnant with my 1st son when this song came out and I would crank it up and dance around, me and my big belly! Great memories that songs bring you and makes you smile 😁
B-52's is a reference to the girl members of the band's hair-dos. The hairstyle was named that because it was a reference of how they resembled the nose of a B-52 Bomber. The hairstyle, I think, was big in the early 60's. But don't quote me on that.
Ya'll were having so much fun!,..this is such an example of how music can be so much fun,..this is a party song,..this group was amazing,..the beehives,..the gorgeous 60's ish outfits,..do watch the video,..its fun as well,..can't remember her name one of the singers (think the redhead) recently posted a parcel of land and house she was selling,..think she's keeping some of it,..think it was in the Catskills??,..she and her partner, were running a like cabin rental,..sorry forgot the name,..I can be terrible with names sometimes,..but I didn't even know she was running this place, saw an article, and it said a former member of a rock band, then read further and it said B52's!, I was like what!,..anyway, loved them, they were big,..very big,..and that twangy guitar, reminded me of a little "rockabilly like Bill Hailey and the Comets, bebop?,..maybe, "We're Gonna Rock Around The Clock",..you can hear it in the guitar,..do keep going,..try Rock Lobster,..kinda sounds like that too,..great group,..fun group,..like you said the music gets you moving,..check out some Brazilian,..samba, bossa nova,..Sergio Mendes, "Mas Que Nada", Fool On The Hill,..keep going young people,..enjoy,..Godspeed, Peace ✌
The band took their name from Southern slang for the exaggerated "beehive" hairdos that were popular back in the day in parts of the South (they were originally from Athens, Georgia). Kate Pierson and Cindy Wilson styled their hair in this way for about the first decade of the group. That both had, and still have tremendous voices.
One of the many great things about this song is that you're reactions on your first listen, are pretty much the same as everyone else's even when they've heard it 100 times. It's just one of those songs that makes everything cool, happy & groovy for 5 minutes.
Guys, this was 'two' ladies, not one...and how can you nearly forget to comment how incredible their voices and harmonies were?! They ladies could SING. Waaay before autotune. Iconic.
Rupauls first ever tv appearance was in this video. They met in Atlanta during the b52s hiatus after their guitarist died from AIDS and Rupaul was in the drag scene there and they became friends before fame. Love shack finally gave the b52s fame and success after a decade of being more underground. Their earlier music is much weirder and more punk rock. The two ladies singing are Kate and Cindy. Before their guitarist Ricky died (Cindy’s older brother) they were a 5-piece. But Ricky and Keith didn’t sing. The singers are Fred, Kate and Cindy. Fred with his bizarre MC style “singing” against the sublime harmonies of Kate and Cindy. But what’s interesting is some songs they are all singing, some songs it’s just Kate, some songs it’s just Cindy, some songs it’s just Kate and Cindy, some songs it’s just Fred and Kate. They don’t have a front person in their group and they all participate.
I was going to tell them the same thing that they really need to see the video. Lol
@@johndalley1288 Just watched it again. I love it more each time.
she said she made it up on the spot.
You are so right!
I know why y’all did the lyrics for the song, but y’all need to watch the video on your own! The song will make better sense to you and will make you smile even more!
My favorite line in the entire song is:
TIN ROOF….RUSTED!!!!
The film clip is a must to watch .. Yes TIN ROOF Rusted !!!!
That's my favourite lyric too! All of this stuff was written during society's absurdist period.
I think it means "I'm pregnant" but that's just from what I remember at the time.
The B-52s are hands down the most fun concert to attend. It's literally a good time from start to end... you go in all nice and dressed up and you come out at the end all tired, sweaty and happy.
One year my GF got all done up for the show, put her hair up all fancy, make up and a nice dress and she looked like she fell in a swimming pool when we left the show, that's how much we danced.
your faces and your reaction is exactly why I subbed ...Asia's smile alone is worth a big thumbs up, more please!!!
Love watching you two enjoying one of the greatest dance songs of the 80’s!
I was in a foul mood. I watched this. Started dancing. No longer in a foul mood....Thank You guys!!!
"ROAM" by this band is a must. A real must.
Definitely.
The video version would have been fun to watch. “Rock lobster” was another huge B-52 hit during the disco era.
If you don't wanna dance when you hear this one, you got no soul! Love it!
This band formed really just because bored college students wanted their own places to hang out with their own bands to listen to, where they could wear funny clothes and stay up all night and dance...That's what made them great...
They were all musicians, even before they met each other.
Isn't that why most bands form?😁Your info was cool. I like learning new things about the bands I love.
I was there
Athens Ga. In the late seventies and early 80s
Magical times ❤❤
YES! i've seen them in concert a few times. They are a gas!
OMG…The only song that my friends could ever get me out on the floor and dance to when I was growing up! To this day I still love this song! I am so glad y’all are doing a reaction to it! Now I’m going to listen!
One of my very favorite bands ever! So creative and quirky and so much fun-they are really unique and very talented. ❤❤❤
The girls’ harmony in the chorus is everything in this song.
You can't be human and sit still during this song; it just evokes involuntary dancing.
Facts
I used to dance to this at the high school dance! I remember the floor was packed!!! Man! the 80s were fine!
They are also fun to watch perform this live. They have so much energy!
Their "Roam" and "Rock Lobster", "Private Idaho" are next for you!! 3 Singers Kate, Fred and Cindy
Dave letterman interviewed one of the girl singers and asked her what that line in the middle meant "tin roof - rusted!" her response was classic, "Nothing, it's just a song." That's it, no hidden message about problems in the world, just a fun song about having fun.
Rumor at the time meant pregnant
One of my all time favorite bands! Great reaction! Roam is another great one. One of my favorites is 52 Girls. Too many to name. Their concerts were a total dance party 🥳
The first time I heard my Middle daughter sing she was singing this song doing karoke...I was amazed...thought she was lip sinking it...LOL She also sang Just a Manic Monday. LOL Never heard her sing before that...she was 25 at the time.
Oh if she's talented I hope she pursues singing. My sister died at 37 and didn't get to do much with her voice....she didn't have the confidence
The name B-52's comes from a particular beehive hairdo resembling the nose cone of the aircraft, which Pierson and Cindy Wilson wore in performances during the band's first decade (From wikipedia)
And you need to see the videoclip for this one
Gotta watch the official video. They're such a bright, energetic band!

This song will pack any dance floor what a groove
It's the "live" sound they use, including all the people yelling in the background, making it sound like a party improptu jam--plus having soul brothas on the horns and drums makes this a great song.
Just a great bubbly fun song well played by the B-52's. How could anyone not have a great time with this?
Great reaction,.
I have never see you guys groove so much with a tune...the B-52, they are the best
Yeah every party I have ever thrown I have played this song. It always gets everyone dancing and in a vibe! 😎
One of the most fun songs ever written and performed! Do yourselves a favor and watch the official video for this; it's a party!
Love the ladies vocals!
I saw them live a few years ago and they STILL have this much energy!
Oh yes ! I love it. If you haven't already done so, PLEASE watch the video for this. Its SUCH a blast.
I've seen the B-52's at the Whiskey-A-GoGo, on Sunset Blvd In Las Angeles, Ca Back in the day and They were soooo Good Live. You have seen their Official Video.

They ARE “The B-52s” , not B-52.
Like it really matters
P.s. actually it does since they're a band and not a solo artist haha i apologize to u

That was one of my Favorite Songs of the 80’s Yeah!👍🏽😎🌺💪🏽👑💙👑💙
Probably the most popular wedding reception song for people to dance to. EVERYONE gets out of their seat and dances for this one!
The love shack was a real place. It was the summer cabin of the family of one of the band members. He used to go there for inspiration to write songs. Sadly, the cabin burned down some years ago. 😪
I always start doing old school 50's and 60' dance moves when this song comes on !
Yeah, anything related to dancing you would hear this song at the time. And it was on the radio and it every house party I ever went to. The music video of this song adds some context to the bands music. Things like Rock Lobster and Planet Claire. A pure party band.
Great reaction and choice. One of the best party songs ever. I encourage you to watch the official video. Very fun.
Forget misspelled, misquoted lyric videos for B-52's = they have great videos, don't think blocking is too bad with them? Such a positive vibe band. We need more of them! Beastie Boys usually had fun upbeat songs too. I love my brooding stuff but the world needs this!
One of your best reactions! Love the energy and the joy you guys displayed in this fun song. Just great❤️
An all time fun song to dance to and get the party started!🎤🎤
The Official Music Video For This One Is Alot Of Fun & A Must See.
When this song came on late a night in a pub where I used to drink I knew it was time to move onto the next pub straight away 👍🥂

The best dance song ever. Put this on and everybody got up and danced! Thank for reacting. Peace & Love, ✌❤PJ
As others have said, go back and watch the official video. Other B-52 songs, "Roam", "Rock Lobster", and "Give Me Back My Man".
There is one male singer and two female singers.
I like this song and the b 52,s and the song it was around when I was a teenager
Every wedding reception I have went to,..this song was always played.
guitar solo- Keith Strickland, originally the band's drummer- after original guitarist, Rick Wilson- Cindy's (co female lead singer) brother, died of AIDS, Keith learned the guitar and took over the sound so well known as their sound.
Great band! Great reaction!

This song will bring life and dance to any dull party, or wedding reception.
Love the video. 🇨🇦😊
B52s were a New-Wave band formed in Athens, Georgia, in 1976. They were also, dance-rock, post-punk, art pop.
I was pregnant with my 1st son when this song came out and I would crank it up and dance around, me and my big belly! Great memories that songs bring you and makes you smile 😁
The Love Shack in Athens GA. Back in the day, down Hwy 78 (Atlanta Hwy ) we would go to see these guys. Much fun!
B-52's is a reference to the girl members of the band's hair-dos. The hairstyle was named that because it was a reference of how they resembled the nose of a B-52 Bomber. The hairstyle, I think, was big in the early 60's. But don't quote me on that.
This song will always make me think of school dances in junior high. It was already 6 or 7 years old, but it was a hit at every dance lol
This is a fun group! This played so much in my high school days. You should find the video and give it a watch.
Every part of my body up out of the chair wow , such a happy feel good tune, only problem it's my time for bed
Ya'll were having so much fun!,..this is such an example of how music can be so much fun,..this is a party song,..this group was amazing,..the beehives,..the gorgeous 60's ish outfits,..do watch the video,..its fun as well,..can't remember her name one of the singers (think the redhead) recently posted a parcel of land and house she was selling,..think she's keeping some of it,..think it was in the Catskills??,..she and her partner, were running a like cabin rental,..sorry forgot the name,..I can be terrible with names sometimes,..but I didn't even know she was running this place, saw an article, and it said a former member of a rock band, then read further and it said B52's!, I was like what!,..anyway, loved them, they were big,..very big,..and that twangy guitar, reminded me of a little "rockabilly

Fun silly song!👍😊Now you need to watch the video!!
The entire cd is outstanding. Cosmic Thing. If I was stranded on desert island this is one I would want with me.
Ok, you definitely have to see the video. It's crazy, colorful and fun and there's a cameo of a very young Ru Paul rocking out at the Love Shack too.
Love it when BJ has a good time 😃👍👍👍
The band took their name from Southern slang for the exaggerated "beehive" hairdos that were popular back in the day in parts of the South (they were originally from Athens, Georgia).
LOVE ME SOME B 52s!!! Takes me back to mid 80s kicking the hacky sack at the park with my college buds...great memory
Love this song!
this is another one I have to encourage y’all to watch the live performance of. it’s almost pitch-perfect for the album track.
The B-52s were the best dance party band in the 80s check out Your Own Private Idaho and Rock Lobster!
Guys, this was 'two' ladies, not one...and how can you nearly forget to comment how incredible their voices and harmonies were?! They ladies could SING. Waaay before autotune. Iconic.
Definitely a roller skating song!

Love this song this and Roam
