They've had that flaw since the 1990s, when the live-action 101 DALMATIANS was a huge hit. That was the "franchise original sin," and in a number of ways the beginning of the end. But even before then, Disney had creativity problems. Their styles and gimmicks were pretty formulaic almost from the beginning, and as early as the '50s they were already recycling their animation techniques instead of trying to make each cartoon look unique (if you compare CINDERELLA, THE SWORD AND THE STONE, and the 1957 cartoon "The Truth About Mother Goose," you'll see some blatant overlap). The truth is, a lot of the content from the past is not quite as good as we remember it, and it's considered "classic" both because of the nostalgia effect and because much of what comes after it is even worse.

It's strange to me that Disney is the studio being scapegoated, when they are far from the original or the worst offender. I trace the beginnings of "modern Hollywood" to 1976, when Paramount Pictures remade KING KONG for no good reason - and, in today's vernacular, also "updated it for modern audiences." That was nearly half a century ago, which means that close to two whole generations have grown up in an entertainment world that is overloaded on nostalgia. Of course Disney would eventually succumb to the trend.

Honestly, I don't blame the entire Disney studio for losing their touch (magic), but I do blame the bad writing/directoring, and cash grabbers, which would explain a lot for live action remakes, and it's not just for Disney, even live action versions of our beloved tv shows from our childhood that actually makes things worse, not to mention this is also why some people *wished* that Disney's Wish never existed like all those other bad Disney movies and sequels.
The last really good non-Marvel Disney project I can remember was THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG, and that was 15 years ago. By analogy, then, we're currently in the year 1982 - a decade and a half removed from THE JUNGLE BOOK - and the next THE LITTLE MERMAID is still the better part of a decade off. Back in the real 1982, of course, the biggest project Disney were getting ready to launch was their cable channel, so it makes sense they'd be investing in home entertainment instead of mass entertainment at this point. Would one of you guys give me a time machine so I could go back in time tell George Lucas’s about the bad future of Star Wars like making George Lucas’s realisation like maybe doesn’t sold Star Wars in this alternate timeline I guess but that’s just my opinion
I agree that D+ is a major factor in Disney's decline, especially as it relates to a chase for subscribers that they cannot win. I think the next biggest issue they have is direction. They generally don't seem to want to craft stories for families, or even the longtime fans of what Disney has done before, be it traditional Disney fare, or fans of StarWars (or any of Lucasfilm's IP) or Marvel. Oddly, the only thing under the Disney umbrella that doesn't seem to have as much of a problem as the others is FOX movies; Alien Romulus was solid, and Predator Prey was a little better than "ok". They want to drive politics and ideologies - the latter of which do not usually work with traditional family values. Until very recently when they have claimed they're going to move away from those things. I'll believe it when I see it more than a few times. I won't trust them until they prove they've changed.
